• Question about the use of the memory of the host and the VM memory limit.

  Well, I have so vCenter PAHO running in my environment.  My host started to have a little low on available memory and the server of the OPs was the biggest pig, so I thought I could try to corral it a little.  Here is some info documents and help than I thought.

  ESX host has pointed out, looking at the level of the ops vc server:

  Host of Mem - MB: 7364

  Guest member - %: 3

  With the virtual machine has highlighted:

  Consommé of host MB memory: 7378

  Client active memory: 573 MB

  So I understand these numbers as such: the memory of the host is the amount of physical memory that has been allocated to the vm, and the memory of comments is the amount of memory allocated is really active in the guest operating system being used by the process.  Please correct me if I'm wrong.

  My solution was to set a limit on this virtual machine with 4 GB of memory, freeing up about 3 GB of memory to the host, but after the change is made, consumed host memory never came down.

• Hosts and VMs missing in VC OPs 5.8.0

  Our vCenter web Ops gui displays more guests ESXi, VMs or data warehouses.  Both devices of linux VC been restarted (Analytics and user interface) as well as our vCenter server.  The hierarchy develops only with regard to our clusters.  But I still get alerts e-mail of VC on different memory alerts on the virtual machines, so it always seems to work.

  Can someone advise whats that went wrong?  I also tried to connect to the web gui as root and different browsers.

  I just installed ESXi 3.5 on a DELL PowerEdge R710 with 2 processors to 4 cores of each and 8 GB of memory. I created a Windows 2000 Advanced Server client in this regard. The issue I'm having is the inability to allocate 8 vCPUs with 8 GB of RAM at the prompt. The setting for processors made 4 and although I have allocate 8 GB, the guest operating system shows only 4 GB. Any help would be appreciated.

  With ESX 3.5 the maximum number of virtual processors, you can assign the machine virtual is 4 - If you want to have a VM with 8 virtual processors, you must buy vSphere (ESX/ESXi 4) with ENterprise Plus license allows you to run a virtual machine with 8 virtual processors - in terms of memory if the o/s is 32-bit by default can only access 4 GB.

  You don't say which edition of Vista you are using.

  Vista Home Basic Edition does not have the "snipping tool".
