Pointer to Touch-pad which disappears to a computer model of Windows 8

Hello

I'm working on a Windows laptop, 8 model, and recently I have been encountering a problem with the touch-pad. Occasionally, for no reason at all, once the mouse pointer icon disappears from view, and I rely on the touchscreen to do my job. Would not a big problem, if all the applications worked fine with my awkwardly-large fingers. I think that the touch-pad of my computer has been disabled somehow. Please let me know how I can fix this problem as soon as possible.

Thank you

Melody

I would say as a starting point to do two things:

  1. Open the Windows Store app and get the Windows 8.1 update which is pending.  It fixes hundreds of problems.
  2. Go to the website of the manufacturer of your computer (Dell, Acer, HP, etc) and choose your model and download the latest graphics drivers available, they have for you.

    Hi dove2k,

    Welcome to Microsoft Answers Forums.

You will need to enable the touchpad on the laptop itself.

Find the area of the touch pad, you will find a button to enable or disable the touchpad.

If the step above doesn't, try this step.

Go to control panel > mouse > device settings tab
    Click (or to disable)

    Notes:
On some models, there is a keyboard shortcut to enable or disable the touchpad. For example, ACER, just do Fn + F7.
You can click on Reset device if none of these solutions work.

If you still can't touch pad to work, you will need to contact the manufacturer of the laptop computer for more information.

  • Pointer configuration/Touch Pad sensitivity

I have a HP Pavilion dv5 'Garden Dreams' laptop with WINDOWS 7 Home Edition OS.  I came across a setting to change the selection of items, so everything you do is hoover the pointer on the item, the operating system automatically selects that element.  What a mistake that was!  Where should I go to deselect this setting - I can't find it anywhere.  I would also like to know if it is possible to change the setting of the sensitivity of the touchpad.  I would like to know if anyone knows what in the world, I typed when going back about 15 characters thecursor and inserts that I am currently typing. When I realize that what I typed is not at the END, but about 15 characters before the end, I have to erase it and type it all over again.

You can try to see the sw of your touchpad settings. Usually it's a Synaptics Touchpad sw located on the lower right icon in your task bar or desktop screen.

  • Qosmio F20: Question on tuner TV and Touch pad

    Hi guys,.

This is the first time for me on the forum, I have questions about my Qosmio F20.

    1. I installed a Microsoft mouse wireless yesterday, and I noticed that the touch pad system tray icon and Touch and Go system tray icon disappeared! Could it be because that the replacement of a pointing device with another? I would like your help to recover the missing programs again.

2 - I tried to connect the satellite receiver with the TV tuner and I managed to get a picture, but the image was all blue. Does anyone have an EXPLANATION for that? And can I fix it without going through dealers?

Please, help me with my problems.

    Thank you.

    Hello

1.) of course the 3rd party mouse driver could be a reason for a loss of Touch and Go system tray icon. If you wish, you can use the system restore which is part of the Win Xp operating system. This procedure should push you old driver and utility.

(2.) trying to update the TV tuner driver. The latest version is 1.0.32.50526

  • Pro L10: After using a wireless mouse, the touch pad has stopped working

Pro L10. After using a wireless mouse, the built in touch pad has stopped working properly. At the start of the keypad icon touch shows and the touchpad works intermittently, after a few minuets, the icon disappears and the touch pad stops working. In the control panel / mouse & or device drive I can how the program works, then disappears.

I deleted the software and reinstalled nothing doesn't. In some cases, I get a message that a pointer is on.

    Can you help me?

    Hello

It seems that the wireless mouse or mouse wireless drivers/software has a bad influence on the touchpad.
I put t have a good solution for this problem. Well, you can consult the page of the Toshiba driver for latest driver updates. If the updates doesn't solve this problem I suggest to use either the mouse wireless and disable the touchpad with FN + F9 key combination or use a regular USB mouse.
I guess that you are having regular problems with a USB mouse.

  • Tecra A3X-112: Fn + F1... Touch pad to work stoppage

    Hello everyone,

I have a Tecra A3X-112 on which Windows XP has been recently reinstalled.
I installed Windows XP before with other different copies, but this is the first time that I've known a few misadjustments.

My problem is that the combined with F1, F2... Fn keys stopped working, as well as Assist bottom on top of the keyboard.
In addition, the touchpad works, but I cannot turn it off.

I've been looking at the posts of some other users, and it seems that it is a problem to download the proper drivers from Toshiba Web page.

My question is: what drivers for the keys?

    a. for * Fn + function keys * should I intalled * utilities * or * Hotkeys utility for display devices? * There are even some users who recommend to installed a BIOS update or a common Module driver, but I'm not sure about this. By installing the appropriate driver, are all combinations FN + function keys work, or only some of them?
    b. for * Touch Pad *, should I intalled only * Touch Pad on / off utility * or * Touch Pad Driver * is also necessary?
    c. for * help the bottoms? *

    Send me the answers, please.
Thanks in advance for your help.

    Hello

The features of FN keys depend on several different factors. As a first step, it is important to have installed common modules. She is named for the other Toshiba designed tools and utilities.
Just for example: for the use of the keys FN + F2 (standby power options), you need to install modules common and tool watch.
While the first step I recommend to install common modules again.
When you are finished, check the functionality of the FN and post the result.

For FN + F9, you need to install TOSHIBA Touch Pad on / off Utility. Before that, it must be installed ALPS Pointing - device Driver.
You know, it's not easy to simply offer a solution to this. All the drivers, tools and utilities must be installed in order to good facilities. After having done that, everything should work well.

One thing, to help buttons try with TOSHIBA controls again.

  • Scrolling touch pad has stopped.

Scrolling touch pad has stopped working when you slide your finger upwards & downwards the edge on the right side, what could be wrong?

    Hello

Control Panel - mouse - look for the TouchPad settings - mine is on the device settings tab
and yours may be different (it is NOT the Scrollings tab which is for the mouse). On some
You can enable and disable the scroll and/or the size of the area and the sensitivity of the value
    the touchpad.

Some will have a TouchPad progam/control icon in the Notification area near the clock-
    at the bottom right.

Check with the manufacturer of system support, documentation in line, or forums as there probably
are shortcut keys that enable and disable the touchpad functions.

    ==========================================

If necessary: (make sure that you have restarted at least once, if the above did not work)

Panel of configuration manager devices - mouse and pointing devices - Double click on the touch pad-
The driver tab - click on Update Driver (which is may not make anything like MS is far behind certifying)
(drivers), now right CLICK on the touchpad and UNINSTALL.

Then go to the USB and UNINSTALL ALL controllers except the category itself (all in).
    RESET

This will refresh the driver for the TouchPad and battery USB.

Here is the similar procedure in XP, Vista is the same, except that we need to clear the specific
    device if present.
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/310575

Then go to the system manufacturer's website and get the latest touchpad drivers.

    I hope this helps.

  • Toshiba touch pad does not

HI.i have a Toshiba Satellite U300-113 laptop and the touch pad does not work. I tried to look for it under the mouse settings, but it is not there.it shows that the external mouse device.i visited recently and it worked then and when I came home and tried to use the touchpad, he did not. PLEASE WHAT DO I DO? the external mouse works properly, but I really prefer the built-in mouse.plus when you are carrying the laptop around for portability, it is quite difficult because I have to carry an external mouse wherever I go.

Please, I would like to know if a solution can be found as soon as possible please?
Please specify your guidelines so that I'll know what to do.
    Thank you.

We hope that your touchpad device is not physically damaged in any way or has gone wrong.

    Then...

Type device manager in the start menu search. You can also access it by right click on computer > properties and look for a link called the Device Manager on the left.

In the device, search for 'Mice and other pointing devices' Manager and see if everything is there. Using my computer for example, I can see «Synaptics PS/2 Port Touchpad» If you see something like that, then you have a few choices.

    Right-click on it and choose:

Update driver software - update the driver software to the latest version if found on the computer or on the internet.

Uninstall - Uninstalls the driver entirely.

I suggest try updating first. If this does not help then do an uninstall (it may disappear when you do this). After uninstalling, look up and you'll see a few icons. Place the cursor on them until you see the description "Check for changes on the hardware" and click on it (the icon should look like a computer with a magnifying glass). The unit should reappear, right click and reinstall the driver.

Note: If you double-click on a device, you can see the status of the device. It should say "Device works properly."

Note #2: Also on the Toshiba site, I can't find the drivers Toshiba Satellite U300-113 and support page. I see U300-ST3091, U300-ST3092 and U300-ST3094.

  • mouse buttons act as touch pad

    Pavilion DM1 - 3245CA Windows7 64 bit.

Right out of the box, I found the touchpad to be extremely frustrating that the delimited areas as 'right' and 'left' mouse click the points are just as sensitive to the touch as the touchpad itself.  The area of the mouse button can be used as the Tablet!  Therefore, when you touch the area to the right or left click on the mouse often jumps to a new location, which sometimes causes other "destination".

When I followed the instructions on the web site to modify the sensitivity of the touchpad or mouse button areas, the screens I see are different to those indicated for this machine and driver downloads for the touch pad indicates that I have the drivers.

From my point of view, it is a flaw that makes it almost impossible using this computer without using a USB mouse.

    Boring, so you know what.

Figured it out on my dm1z

Go to mouse properties in Control Panel and then device settings tab, and then click settings

Under scrolling of the matches of the Palm check...

Drag on the gear icon and click on it, it should open a configuration window

I put the activation time filter 0

then I check the two boxes of restriction

then I move the mouse over the black central square at the bottom of the starting area, and then drag upward a bit take outside the touchpad buttons. Press close and OK endangered.

crazyiest touchpad I've ever seen, I still have problems moving the slider even with this setting.

  • Window not finding touch pad

I have a new acer aspire V7 nitro.  It is came with (ugh) windows 8.1 which would not be the programs that I need for work.  I loaded windows 7.  The problem I have is windows think the touchpad is generic and charge the mouse HID-complaint.  I down loaded the driver from acer that says it's for windows 7 and 8 but when I load the driver it says that there is no material so that the driver is not required.  The touch pad works but not well.  Any ideas as to why windows did not recognize this single piece of hardware?

  • How to change the default setting for the touch-pad?

I have a HP Pavilion dv7 running Windows 7 Home Premium.

I use it 99% of the time on your desktop, using a mouse instead of the key.

Sometimes I forget to turn off the key by using the small dot in the upper left corner, which causes the movement of the cursor unexpectedly.

Question: Is there a way to reset the value by default for the touch-pad to be inactive, and use the small point to activate the key only if I use the computer in a remote location?

Thanks for any help on this.

    Larry

    Hi Larry,

See if you have the following option.

Open windows control panel, open the mouse, click the device settings tab and then click on the button "settings".  Click on the + next to the Touchpad disable Zone, and then click top left Action.  Click on the radio button for TouchPad Switch Off, click on apply and then click Ok.  Click apply and then click OK in the remaining window.

This should enable the TouchPad on/off function to remember, so if you turn it off, it will be turned off after a reboot.

    Kind regards

  • My computer laptop touch pad keeps freezing

So I had this problem with my HP laptop for a while now. My mouse freezes randomly when I use my touch pad, make me have to close my laptop and open it again to my touch pad start labor, it might sometimes take awhile to start to get back to work. Someone please tell me what to do this gets really annoying when I have to keep closing my laptop to get my touchpad to stop the freezing point.

(P.S my mouse works fine when I plug in a mouse, so I know that my touchpad is the promblem here.)

    Hi Chanellex,

Thank you very much for the product number. I hope you had a good weekend. I included the link to the driver for your TouchPad below. Start by making sure that the original driver is deleted. Go to your device manager and looking for your Synaptics TouchPad or something similar. Right click and uninstall. Then, install the link below. Please, note use this method if you have an external mouse, if you install just the software.

  • Equium L10 - touch pad stop working (mouse)

    Hi guys,.

really need your help. I have an Equium L10-300 and my touch pad has stopped working. A few days back, he started to freeze, but reboot solved the problem... but now it has stopped working all together. The icon that normally indicates at the bottom right of the screen disappeared. Have done the FN9 thing and tried to look at the settings...

    Help, please

    Thanks, Pete

    Hi friend

have you already tried to remove the mouse from the Device Manager? Or reinstall the driver would also be a very good attempt to resolve this situation as a whole.

The first step that needs to be done is to exclude a software error, then go-> http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/-> support downloads & -> support-> download home page-> download drivers

Get the driver for your mouse and reinstall. If it shouldn´t work then come here and we will see what could be the next step...

  • Satellite A660 - touch pad / stop and other buttons do not work

    Dear people on this forum,

Recently, about 3 weeks ago, I turned on my computer and I cleaned out the dust because it was overheating.

about 2 weeks before, I noticed that my touchpad is not working and the buttons at the top of the page do not work, there is no light (multimedia audio buttons wireless) I can't activate/deactivate or either, I don't know how. I don't know if the problem because I cleaned my laptop and has not logged a few threads back but I included this detail because I do not use these buttons if I haven't noticed if they were on. but he said: 2 days ago, I don't know how my wireless exploded Ant when I press fn + f8 (wireless) wireless communication switch is turned off, which is one of the buttons is not working (upstairs next to / switch even with my touch pad)

    I tried the following:

    Windows Update
turn off the computer, remove all cables and battery and wait for about 30 minutes. Then then hold down the button for 30 seconds
Reinstall the support flash cards, hw Setup utility / value pack
and finally a Toshiba out of the recovery of the box using the recovery of 2 cd product

I don't know what to do next. It's either:

    try something else
or is there a wire is connected both touchpad and the buttons at the top and I have to open my laptop and connect them.

Please answer as to my next step to get my wireless.

Please don t get me wrong, but I don t know how to help you now. Disassembly of the laptop is to only authorized persons and if you do it on your own there is always a risk that something may be hurt or may be damaged.

OK, I must also say that I also removed my machine too but I got lucky and everything is OK as before.
I put t know how A660 looks inside, but the principle is still the same and I can't imagine you have whatever it is damaged.
You know very well that we cannot say much about your problem. What you need to do now is the final test of functionality and install original recovery image that you got with your laptop. Test the functionality with the factory settings. If the problem is still there, I m afraid you must open for new laptop and check if everything is connected correctly.

Last option is to contact the service and ask for help.

    Hey guys,.

In the past months, my laptop had become almost unusable.

It began with the key odd work stoppage or becomes difficult to use, but now it happened to many of them and last night my touch pad stopped working all together.

    Maybe even a factory reset?

I don't know how to proceed.

    Hello

With regard to the problem of keyboard:

From my point of view of the few sounds of keyboard described as a material problem internal related dysfunction... probably in order to solve this problem, the keyboard should be replaced... just to make sure that your internal keyboard is affected, please join the external USB keyboard and check if it works properly.
If you see any problems, the problem is no doubt by a malfunctioning internal keyboard and as mentioned earlier, you will need to replace the keyboard.

    Regarding the touchpad:

I'm not sure if the two issues are interrelated, but the touchpad can be disabled by using the function keys... I recommend you to check this... (function key details are also in the user manual)... you can also try reinstalling the touchpad drive.

Tip: this forum contains many discussions about similar problems... so I recommend you to read the recommendations posted in this community.
