Pop - Up Message that my windows 7 is about to expire? Is this good?

We recently bought a Dell with Windows 7 pre-installed. Now, after 3 weeks, I get a pop-up message telling me my trial period will expire. Is that correct and what steps should I take?

To verify that Windows is in fact burst this window upward please do the following:

Click Start, then right-click on computer and select Properties. At the bottom of the window that opens, check that there is a button that says Activate Windows now or similar. If there is then click on it and go through the verification process. If you have access to the internet then it will be really easy, if you follow one of the other options such as dialing the number 1-800 for your region and following the automated you prompt to check your copy of windows.

If under Windows Activation it says "Windows is activated" then you most likely have some sort of malicious software on your system and you must try and install an anti-virus program to remove it. I suggest Microsoft Security Essentials, you can download it by clicking here.

Hope that answers your question.

  • I want to use hotmail WITHOUT Messenger or pop-up message that appears.

After you have displayed in several areas of the Windows Live Solution Center and sent to different places and return to where I started, I was done in this direction, and I really hope someone can help...

I have a new computer with Windows 7.  Whenever I connect to Hotmail, Windows Live Messenger will automatically launch.

To try to solve this problem, I opened the window manage add-ons, and then click Windows Live, and you click on disable.  This stopped Messenger opening whenever I connected to Hotmail, but created a new problem instead.  Now, whenever I connect to Hotmail, I get a message telling me thay I have an add-on is disabled.

How do I just sign in to Hotmail, without opening of Messenger and a pop-up message that appears.  I just want to use Hotmail and nothing else, as in the good old days!

    Thank you

I gave up waiting for a response.  I just reinstalled Windows Live and disabled the Windows Live modules (Tools > manage add-ons > Disbale Windows Live) and it seems to have worked this time and I no longer get pop-up messages.  No idea why it works now that I reinstalled and not before.

    Hi sarahlane,.

    1. Why did you run ipconfig?

    2. what type of connection you are using? Is it wireless or wired?

    3. are you able to access the internet?

In order to diagnose the problem, please provide us with the ipconfig log file.

To do this, type the command in the command prompt:

    ipconfig/all > ipconfig.txt

It will be saved in the directory where you typed the command.
