Popup declared attempt to access Firefox; clocked to 'block '. now can not access ALL Web sites; update did not help; What's wrong??

Reported popup web site tries to access Firefox (don't remember exact message); available buttons: allow once, allow, block; has chosen the block (I selected allow once before, but that seemed to be a bad idea). After that, I get "Unable to connect" no matter where I go. You had to use IE to join of Mozilla.org. Firefox update did not help. Troubleshooting procedure did not help.

Hello, this looks like a problem with your security/firewall software blocking the new versions of firefox. If please delete all the rules of the program for firefox to your firewall and let it detect the new version of the browser again.

  • I just upgraded to Firefox 5.0.1 and because the "padlock" icon never appears when you access secure Web sites, where should I look for it?

I recently upgraded to Firefox 5.0.1 and now the 'lock' icon is nowhere (I don't know) when you access secure Web sites. I've not seen once. It appeared in the lower right of the screen. I also have Norton Internet Security.

Well, in the secure Web sites part of the address bar is allocated to the part of the security certificate. For example, here in these forums you can see your address bar is as follows: mozilla.com . https://support.mozilla.com... The front ' |' ("mozilla.com") is what I'm talking about. For more information on the security certificate, you can mouse over and also clicking on it.

  • I get a message that says: "this connection is not approved" whenever I try to access ANY Web site

I looked through previous questions and remove any software suspicious (it was not really, just a Bing bar). I deleted firefox and reloaded it. I bought Norton Antivirus and ran a scan - nothing. Date and time on my computer are correct. Explorer works very well. Help! I prefer firefox, but I can't access ANY Web site. I get this message every time.

I've been down all the instructions on the Firefox support forum, and nothing has worked. The question may not be the Web site certificate, because it happens to EVERY SINGLE website I try to access. Nevertheless, I have add an exception for Facebook according to the instructions. That caused a strange page, not formatted to come. Since, I have read that to make an exception is dangerous because it can cause MORE unwanted malware to infect the computer.

However, I did figure it out on my own so maybe this will help those who are facing this problem in the future: after reading the past messages from those who have experienced the same thing, I realized that, in all cases, the solution was to remove some kind of unwanted software (malware). I'm very careful NOT to download the software and I noticed that another victim of this says the same thing, so it's sneaky. I even bought new software (Norton) antivirus, performed a scan and the problem has not been found.

I went to programs "to uninstall programs," sorted by date and anything that looked suspicious that was recently removed. I had something with the word "rocket" in it. It looked like a game. There is also another program that I removed (don't remember the name of it now). Removing those does not solve the problem, so I returned through all programs on my list and removed something that said "toolbar" on this topic, even if it was reliable (I had a bing and google toolbar). That doesn't seem to work either so I sort the programs by date again and I noticed that the software "rocket" was ALWAYS THERE.

I have a click with the right on it and then click on 'uninstall' button again. It takes unusually LONG for this program uninstall AND nothing appears on the screen. The computer has just sort of is there and does nothing. I left and when I came back (about an hour later) the program had disappeared from the list.

Firefox now works. I no longer receive this message, but here's the deal: I'm not 100% sure what program was the problem. It was this software of rocket or one of the toolbars. Nevertheless, the answer always seems to be some kind of unwanted malware, so I recommend that any victim of this problem try to uninstall the suspicious programs initially. And this means that ALL suspicious programs are RECENT, regardless of if they resemble games or antivirus or another. If it is new and you do not download it, uninstall it.

  • Can't access some Web sites. Internet is to slow down, it won't work

Original title: can't access some Web sites.

I have a problem with one of the computers on my network.

Some Web sites will not load on one of the computers (although on all others).  The behavior is either it load so slow that it does not (speedtest.net) or it expires entirely (skype.com). This problem persisted for several months (it is one of the computers of my colleague and I administer the network and machines in our office).

    I checked things:

    1. this problem occurs in IE, Chrome and FireFox

    2. it does not occur if I use a web proxy such as hide.me

    3. it is persistent even in SafeMode with network.

    4. ipconfig/all parameters are the same between this machine and the other without a problem.

    5. the problem with Windows Firewall disabled.

6 ipconfig/flushdns does not solve the problem.

    7. no viruses or malware were found.

    8. on those ping timeout works very well (skype.com with ~ 140ms)

I'm really running out of things I can think beyond trying to reinstall Windows, but I prefer not to do so.  Are there possible ideas?

    Hi Nerratt,

Thanks for posting on the Microsoft community.

This problem can occur because of corrupted system files or settings or due to conflicts between the third-party applications.

    1. What version of internet explore do you use?
    2. The computer is connected to a domain?

I suggest you run Internet Explorer in no Add-ons mode and check if it helps, here are the steps:

    1. click Start, and then type Internet Explorer in the box to start the search.

2 click Internet Explorer (No Add-ons). Internet Explorer opens without Add-ons, toolbars, or plug-ins.

3 test Internet Explorer to verify that it works correctly.
