  I have trouble to set the text in a dynamic text field when you use an if statement.

  I have a gallery and thumbnails, which give each image a picNum, that is to say 1, 2, etc.;

  When I click on the thumbnail, it sets the picNum accordingly.

  What I want to do is set the legend according to my picNum, so I put a function to change the caption according to the picNum that is called when you click on the thumbnail.  That is to say.

  You can also save a few steps by duplicating the title thanks to the timeline by ALT + drag to the new location (which created not only a new element of the track, but also a new independent project item), then double-clicking the new element of the track to open it in the Titler for editing. But this refinement in your workflow has no impact on the concern said re: 'differences of position or other attributes' - it's entirely a function of the changes that you make in the Titler.

  Depends on. You could do it with a gradient, which would allow you to keep the direct text, but you will need to do a bit of hoop jump to do. Not too much, but your question made me think to your probably not yet to the level of comfort with the Illustrator requires this hoop jump.

  So instead, you'll need transform the text to outlines and then cut it into pieces and pieces of color. When you do this however, you should know that the text is no longer text, it is art and therefore cannot be changed.

  Select the text

  Put contours by typing the command-shift-O (Ctrl-shift-O on PC)

  Select the knife tool in Control Panel tool (not the slice tool, which looks like an exacto blade, but the knife tool that looks like a steak knife. It is hidden under the Eraser tool)

  Drag the tool knife through your letters, making sure to start and stop outside the letters if you cut all the way through.

  Use the direct Selection tool, select the songs you want to color and choose the appropriate color swatch.

  Ta-Da

  I have a subroutine that should get any attribute of the dynamic element, based on the attribute name. Simplified version would be like:

  It works well, except that I don't know how to get the value of the text field entirely dynamically. Static and semi-dynamique code that works would be:

  However, I can't do so totally dynamic and generic, without static attributes.

  Here are my failed attempts:

  iElement.getAttribute("rawValue");
  iElement.getAttribute("value.text.value");

  I could be off track here, but if iElement is the JavaScript object that refers to the form the ["rawValue"] iElement element returns the rawValue.  So, you can replace the literal string "rawValue" with a variable?

  I have a project that has a bunch of variables I created for workd definitions.  I made a dynamic text box so that it loads just the exact text of the variable.

  NOW, the question is that I want to use a headset? (A href)? to find out if the user is clicking on a word inside the dynamic text box.

  There are some words in some definitions I have hepatitis also wrote definitions and separate variables for.  for example in the definition of promotion

  W5 Var = "Promotions".

  var def5 = "Promotions are where your company is looking to increase sales of a particular item by offering a good deal, advertising or a special screen. ';

  There is the word advertising, I would like to call a function that will be then set up the variable for pouring and thus alter the text in the dynamic text box

  I see a few examples online but I can't understand them and they use html or xml from a document external (I think?)

  I think you should consider 3 cases.  1. a keyword is to the beginning, 2. in the Middle, 3. at the end of txt

  You don't mention a version. CS3 and CS4 allow variables (Type > text Variables). You can create a custom text variable and insert this variable in your document. Change the definition of the variable and this will change all at once. I think that a custom text variable cannot be more than one line long, but the only limit to the length of the line is the length of the block of text that is.

  For more than one line, you can make your block of text in a separate document, export it to PDF and then place the PDF anywhere in your document. Edit the new document, PDF export and it will change all at once. In CS3 or CS4, you can also directly put your separate Indesign document into your working document. No necessary PDF.

  You put your fonts in pixels (px) sizes in your style sheets.
