Portege 3110 install Millennium on 98

Hello. My name is Yiannis and I'm from Grece.le last 5 days that I try to install Windows Me on my 3110 and it is impossible! I used the C with power, but he stops (not found drivers). I opened the CD from my computer, but it says that this edition (98) windows cannot be updated. I created by following Microsoft ' instructions from a file on C named winflat I copyied the windows here so that I can start from C, but nothing new. I've updated all the drivers, but nothing more. What can I do?

Hi Yiannis

Please don't panic. Your Portege to external CD device. Many users on this forum have similar problems. But I must also tell you that I think that your laptop is just supported for W95 and W98SE. It is possible that it will be not easy to install WME. You can try to install with some drivers for W98SE, but I'm not sure that it can work properly.

If you have Microsoft ME OS (full version), you will not be able to start him because there is no external driver for CD-ROM. First of all, you need to do some bootable CD containing the driver for your CD device.

Portege series is sometimes not easy to install. Problem is that, after that reboot is no real driver for external device. The portable installation remember the installation source.

I think maybe it will be possible to install it directly from the HARD drive. Try to copy CD FC for second partition of HARD drive and run Setup from there.

  • How to install the OS on Portege 3110 CT?

    Hello

I'm saving a Portege 3110 CT, which has had its hard drive wiped. My win98 boot disc is somewhere, but the CD drive is not recognized. (Mobile CD ROM F-TO-TCD - 24L)

Can someone help me get to the next step please?

    Hi David

As far as I know that you use original designed Toshiba Recovery CD because the image designed contains the driver for the external drive and the recovery procedure should work. If you use the full version of Microsoft CD, you must start the machine with the startup disk that includes the external device driver.

Which CD of facilities that you want to use?

The driver you can find HERE

  • Portege 3110 boot - hexadecimal error codes

I have an old Portege 3110, does not start.

Checked connection and power etc etc. Power light is green with hand connected, then press the button it goes off, nothing happens then it flashes orange with hexadecimal code 4A

Does anyone know what 4A hex code is please?

    Thank you

Hmmm I n t think that someone here in the forum will be able to provide an answer to what means Hex A4.
The fact is that these error meanings depend on the laptop, motherboard and BIOS installed.
I mean the Hex A4 error code doesn t mean the same defect on all Toshiba laptops.

In addition, maintenance manuals are not for public use and only the authorized service partner could not locate the problem of equipment linked to this hexadecimal code.

So in my opinion, you should contact the ASP in your country for details and help.

    Good luck buddy

  • Portege 3110 - need Accupoint driver mouse pointer for Win2K

    Hello.

I've installed Windows 2000 on my old Portege 3110. Windows has installed a generic driver, which does not work with Accupoint integrated mouse pointer. I installed all the drivers for Toshiba laptop, in the order given, but it doesn't always work. Windows does not display an Accupoint driver.

Where can I get the driver? The two buttons on the keyboard do not work.

    Thank you, Darren.

    Hello

Hmm, the driver Toshiba Europe page provides no special touchpad to the W2k OS drivers.
I checked the archive of the driver on the page and didn t find these drivers.

Have you checked if you can configure this device Accupoint in mouse options?
    Do it!

By the way; This unit Portégé is an oldie. It s about 8 years!
And that's why I put t wonder you can't find not all compatible with this device drivers!

  • Recovery CD to reinstall Win 98 on a Portege 3110

I had to use the recovery on my Portege 3110 CD but can't find the registration key of Windows (this is * not * affixed to the computer by the seller [who is an authorized dealer of Toshiba] and I can't find in all the documents that I received during the purchase of the computer).

I contacted Toshiba but said they could not help me.

Anyone who has a CD recovery with a valid license of Windows and the key so that I can start working again?

    Hello

The key for Win 98 was on a label that was printed in the manual.

  • Portege 4000 - Installed - XP cannot read dvd

I installed XP as a clean install on a 4000 Portege that previously had 98SE top.

Now I am unable to play dvd in Windows Media Player and get a message that there need a MPEG-2 decoder, but Microsoft transfer me a site where I have to pay: [http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/plugins.aspx#DVDDecoder].

Is there a way to get around this?

The cd works well, and it doesn't seem to be a necessity for an acoustic muffler for now.

    Hello

If you need a MPEG-2 decoder then I recommend you to install some codec packs.
+ K - Lite Mega Codec Pack + contains everything you need (and more) codecs.

    You should try it.

PS: Why you don't use no matter what players left 3rd? For example the * VLC player * is free and it's a great player. He manages all possible files.

  • Portege 4000 - Installed W2K - wireless connection problem

I installed W2K the Portege 4000. XP was too heavy a resource for this system.

After you install the network driver wireless Cisco (3.5.13.0) of your Web site, I am unable to get a wireless connection. In XP this comes automatically with an icon. The network device switch that I also installed did not help.

    I have the following:

Connection to the local network - ethernet

Although LAKE 2 is activated this still does not pick up wireless.

    Any ideas?

  • Portege R700 - install Windows 7 via Windows Deployment Services - error

    Hello

I have a set of 8 Portege R700 PT310-E computer laptop on which I need to install Windows 7 Professional. I want to do this by using our company Windows deployment server (using Microsoft Deployment Toolkit 2010 to generate the image). While it is loading all software, our company uses.

I have been using the version 32 bit Windows 7 and do a PXE boot from the server. The problem I encountered is that when the laptop starts the installation of the server image. It loads successfully, but does not because it can't find the network device.

What I find strange that I loaded all R700 network drivers in the boot.wim file. I also tried to download all Windows 7 Pro LAN drivers remaining on the Intel site and load those as well as the pilot on the Toshiba site, but it has also generated the same error.

Someone at - it experience to install via WDS on the R700 model? Is there a fix for this, because we are very impressed by these laptops, but being only unable to install via WDS is more annoying.

Any help would be much appreciated.

    Kind regards

    Hello

What exact version of R700 do you use? Also what version of BIOS is installed?

This isn't 100% true. Many USB devices external need to install the driver before the race.

  • Portege R500 - install Win XP - no hard drive detected

    Hello

I just bought a new Toshiba Portege R500 notebook - 12 H with Windows Vista, and I would like to format the hard drive and install Windows XP instead.

I have a Windows XP CD (the one from my old PC), I insert the disk and start the laptop computer on the installation of the Windows XP CD to load, I get the screen asking me "push F3 to quit, entry to install XP" (as usual).
But when I click on 'install', it says no hard drive has been detected, and I wonder if I have any additional drivers.

How is it possible that my 120 GB HD is not detected? It is in a format that does not know Windows XP? Can I get a driver, how can I install it? Can I upgrade the bios?

    Please help me ;)

  • Portege R100 install XP on the replacement drive

    Help, please

My hard drive in my R100 went bad and I replaced it and it became a nightmare to install XP.

I spent 2 days on this subject, and I can't break! I have the original Toshiba USB floppy drive that can be accessed by cell phone and a desktop USB external CD/DVD drive mounted in a USB chassis. It's the Sony DRU - 540A. I tried everything on this forum and it does not work.

I copied the I386 folder in the C: / once I'd fdisk and formatted it and when windows was running from the CD it came to try to find the asms file. When I run the Portege R100 Recovery Bootdisk V1.1.zip he can see my Cd/DVD drive however the virtual D: it creates, causing the PC to freeze when I run Windows NT.

Please help because it's pretty darn painful!

    Thanks Brendan

Why would you copy the files from the CD to your HARD drive? To install an operating system, in your case Windows XP just boot from the CD and follow the instructions given by the installation routine.

You can change the priority of booting into the BIOS settings, or by pressing the C key laptop start upward.

  • 3110CT: how to install the Win XP or Win 2000?

I have some old Portege 3110 CT. In addition I have the drive disk (which works fine) and CD-ROM F-TO-TCD - 24L (PCMCIA).
What I was going to do was to install Windows 2000. There is no option to boot the installation CD, so I created startup disks (x 4).
After that 4th disk started, I got the message that the system cannot find CDROM drive...

So I ask is it possible to install Windows 2000 or XP on this material?
    I wonder how?

Yes, it is possible to install w2000 (I do not advise to install XP, the system will work too slow on a 3110)
You have the appropriate drivers for your CD-pcmcia drive - and copy on a diskette back-start
start with the startup disk and go to your CD with the CD-W2000 inside player
type cd\i386, and then run winnt.exe in this directory, it will install W2000 without problem.
because the envirement BACK does not recognize an NTFS partition, your hard drive must be formatted fat32.

in this previous discussion, you will find all the information you need about back-diskettes, CD-drivers etc... : http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=19232&messageID=70382
