Possible to lock or password protect folder of bookmarks in Safari?

Hello

Is it possible to lock, password protect or maybe to encrypt a folder of bookmarks in Safari, using a third party program if necessary?

Thank you

rlmslo

If you try to prevent someone access your Safari bookmarks, my advice would be for you to protect your account.

It shows locked all files that you have created?

It could be files that are sent to you by someone else and they have the file password protected.

It could also be system files that should not be scanned by the antivirus.

    Thanks for any help!

  • Password protect folder

I want the password protect a folder, so if anyone wants to see what it is inside of this specific folder they will be asked to enter a password.

For example: I have pictures in a folder "Images". 'Pictures' is inside another folder called «Web Site» Inside the "Web Site", I have a .html page that contains links to the images inside 'Images '. If someone clicks on one of these links to see images in the "Images" directory, I want to be prompted for a password in order to display content inside "Images".

If you need Web pages, then you could use the script side server. But since you need protect an image, then you must protect the folder. As far as I know, all web servers have a facility to do this and you can usually do this via the control host on hosted sites Panel. Have you checked?

  • How can I create a password protected folder? Also, how can I change the background in the files?

Well my question about his car, sometimes you have things in your computer that you don't want others to read or watch.
Once you put a password on a folder to prevent others to take a peek inside. No idea how to do it again?

Once when I had windows Millennium Edition, I managed to change the background image in the folder its self. so when you opened it, you could have your own custom folder. But now I must keep that boring white folder is still no way to do it?

As WinNT, Win2K, WinXP and Vista before him, NTFS in Windows 7

method heavy password for individual applications,
EAD, he uses the superior method to explicitly
Set file/folder permissions to individual users or groups.

As work around raw, you can place the file in a compressed
file and a password to unzip the folder to view/access its
content. In addition, some applications allow the user to protect by password
their specific data files. Read the help files for the specific application
For more information on this feature.

For your situation, simple action plan would be to
Create a user limited account for someone else who uses your computer,.
and set it up so it doesn't have permissions to access your personal data
    files.

    een this ability
with the use of the 3rd party applications. Certainly not Windows 7
    predecessors had this ability.

  • I moved a folder of bookmarks in Safari on my desk to alphabetize it but could not move again. Now, Time Machine restores not Safari where I started. Restoration is grayed out and the office keeps - not editor of bookmarks. TM works well.

I tried to move a subfolder of my bookmarks folder to alphabetize it moving it on my desk. It worked, but I couldn't get back in Safari. So I tried to restore the Time Machine Safari but it brought back my desktop and the button restore is gray. I am running Yosemite on one end of 2013 27-inch Mac. Time machine seems to work ok on other issues.

You can only restore the entire file of bookmarks to a previous state. It is not possible to restore the individual bookmarks.

Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select, then copy it to the Clipboard by pressing Control-C key combination:

    ~/Library/Safari

    Quit Safari.

    Select

    Go ▹ go to folder

in the Finder menu bar. Paste it into the text box that opens by pressing Command + V, then press return.

Should open a folder window. Restore the file named "Bookmarks.plist" in this folder from a previous backup of the changes unwanted.

If you don't have such a backup, but the Favorites are still present on an iOS (iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch) device that synchronizes with iCloud, then see below.

Save your iOS devices. Turn off sync iCloud Safari on all devices except those. Quit Safari and delete the bookmarks on the Mac, and then enable synchronization Safari on it. Launch Safari. Bookmarks synchronization of your iOS device.

  • Tried to password - protect folders (VERY important issues) and now cannot find/access them at all!

That's what I had to do what I did:

    http://www.AddictiveTips.com/Windows-Tips/how-to-lock-and-password-protect-folder-in-Vista/

Clearly, I clicked too much / the wrong thing, because these very important issues (for my work) are now completely inaccessible for me. This is not correct. I need them to work. Can someone help me please? (I feel like such a fool!)

I tried restoring the system (twice) and nothing has changed. I have google and google to try to find a way to fix this, but so far have gotten nowhere! I'm a sort of panic... hoping someone can help me!

So what (s) you refuse permissions on this folder? If deny you permissions to everyone, then of course your own username has been included in this group. Out of this is to start the computer with a Linux Live CD or USB key and the copy of the data in the files to external media such as a disk external hard USB or USB key. Linux will not honor Windows permissions. Then delete the files while in Linux. If all goes well, they are not system folders but are only folders you have created yourself. Then start in Windows, create new folders, copy your data to them. If you explain what and where are the files and what restrictions you want to give, we can help you to do this properly.

  • Why can't I drag a file from the desktop to the folder of bookmarks?

I am trying to sort my bookmark folders in El Capitan, so I drag the folder on the bookmarks file (after the edition of bookmarks in Safari) on the desktop, open it on the desktop and the sort.  When I try to drag it to the folder of bookmarks in Safari, the file returns to the desktop.  I tried using the side bar and the window, using option, command, control, fn and SHIFT while dragging, and nothing works.  When I output folder, it returns to the desktop.  To work around, I create a new folder in bookmarks, rename it, and then copy the bookmarks to the new folder.  Looks like I used to be able to just drag the folder to the Favorites folder.

All solutions?  I have something on or off prevents him record a fall in place?

When you drag a folder of bookmarks in Safari Bookmarks.plist location on your desktop, folder and its content is converted to different formats that Safari has no way to convert in the original structure of Bookmarks.plist.

  • Some sort of password protect the folder "Startup"? Without administrator.

I wonder if I can password protect or even lock the start-up folder for a specific user? I don't have administrator privileges, so I'm not able to use any kind of folder lock program. I need to make sure that the programs that I put in the folder loading whenever my PC starts, without them being able to be moved out of the folder. If anyone has any ideas, I would be very happy!

    Thank you

Without being admin, I don't think you can do a lot. There is always the possibility to elevate yourself, which isn't too difficult, but giving instructions to bypass passwords and crack administrator accounts is against the rules of this forum. I'm sorry. Why not, contact your system administrator and set the autostart files? Or is that you won't know everything?

  • Password protection. File PDF, Passwor protecting all of the contents of a folder

I'm running on a Macbook Pro with OS X version El Capitan 10.11.3. After having Turbotax I click Print back and choose Save as PDF option instead of printing all the 47 pages in case I have to go and print a page or two.

I want to make these. Password protected PDF files. There are other files that I want to password protect OR place in a folder that is password protected. Is this possible and how?

  • Is it possible to set a password to a folder randomly in Windows 7?

I would like to know if it is possible to add a protection password to a folder created in Windows 7. I realize that you can set up different user accounts or enter the settings on a network share, but it's not my situation. I usually let the friends and other family members just use my computer without going to the trouble to set up a new user account. I would like to create a folder where I can keep the documents with lists of passwords, numbers of accounts and other sensitive data. Is it possible to simply set a password to a single folder?

It is not possible to specifically put a password on a folder and using something like file encryption would not be useful to you or given to your entire family use the same account.

Short of recommending the use of different accounts that would be wise you might look at some of the solutions available out there like PGP and so on.

You might also consider password protecting the actual files, then your file passwords, for example, if it's in Microsoft Word, add a password.

Simple answer, however, is to use accounts for different users, for this and many many other advantages...

    Good luck!
