Post-mortem debugging - dumper utility

Hello

BB10 document mentions on post-mortem debugging using a dumper utility. But when I SSH to BB10 and try to issue the command "dumper", it is said that the command does not exist. Can anyone help?

My application crashes intermittently, so I wish I had a way to capture information like what this truck.

Thanks in advance,

The dumper is running in the background and runs automatically when your program crashes, if you don't have to do anything yourself to generate the image. Use the target file system browser in Momentics for the dump file (yourapp.core) from the directory of newspapers in the sandbox of your application. Use the browser to copy it somewhere and then tell the post mortem debugger where you put it.

  • Cannot get rid of "debug dump files.

When I 'disk cleanup' results show a list of files to delete and "debug dump files" is unchecked. I then check the debug dump files, but when files are deleted, the debug dump files do not disappear.

    Hello

Thanks for posting in the Microsoft Community Forum. Rest assured that we would do our best to help you.

Save files, previously called crash dumps, allows you to save the information on the program for debugging later. Dump files can be especially useful when you are testing a program on a computer that does not have source files or a symbol. When an incident occurs, you can save a dump file and later, debug on the build computer or on another computer on which the source files and debugging symbols.

    Try these steps and check:

    Step 1:

Run the disk cleanup utility should delete these files. You can remove the files if you want to save space on the hard disk.

Try to delete the files as an administrator. To do this, try the following steps.
    a. Click Start, type disk cleanup, click with the right button on disk cleanup and click Run as administrator.
    b. place a checkmark on "System error memory dump files"
    c. click ok and check if the files are deleted successfully.

See , delete files using disk cleanup

    Step 2:

Try to remove the dump files manually and check:

To do this, follow these steps:

    a. Click Start, type or copy the following command in the start search box and click on enter.

    %SystemRoot%\Minidump

    b. press on ctrl + a to select all files in the minidump and do right click and select Remove, or hit delete key on the keyboard.

  • Delete or not; "System error Memory Dump Files" & "Debug dump files" in the Windows 7 disk cleanup program

I am new to Windows 7, 64-bit OS and making the disk cleanup program. There are 2 unfamiliar topics with boxes to check what are the "Debug Dump Files" and "system error memory dump files.  I'm naïve as to what are these files and whether they contain all files that possibly should not be deleted.  Can anyone say and find out about what are the debug files and system error Memory Dump and if; Should I or not the check their boxes to get rid of all these files in particular type box?  Or could there be some Debug files & system error Memory Dump that might be of some importance and should not be deleted?

Thank you for your time and any comments on this would be greatly appreciated.  Have a nice weekend.

    Tom R

One good thing about Windows Disk Clean up is, only offer files delete them it is safe and will not harm your PC. Files of system errors and debugging dump files are created when there is an error in your system, and it creates a dump file that could be used for analyses. That say if you encounter blue screen error, dump file will create and if you find analysis you of cause of this problem. Whether or not you want to remove, you, some people will delete it only while others will keep the Explorer themselves later. But more importantly, it is wise to report them to Microsoft before deleting.

To do this, open Control Panel and click under Maintenance contract and Action Center, click Check for solutions then it will collect all the information related to the errors and dump files and he could ask permission to send them and if you great permission, they will be sent. Once it was successful you can delete them.

Sending the Microsoft dump files is a good idea, because there are teams who revisit and they try to find the cause and resolve it through Windows Update, or inform you about the possible solution in the center of the Action.

  • Help with a post-mortem

Hoping to find an overview here.

I'm new with a small company and an implementation of ESX 2 small vsphere 4.1. I have a background with a significantly bigger vSphere environment.  Yesterday, I made a change to the network configuration from one of the ESX servers that finally overthrew the virtual environment for a period.  I do not understand why it happened, but I would like to offer the facts and see if someone can see what I missed (in addition to first place the ESX Server in maintenance mode).

    The network configuration:

    vSwitch0 is associated with pnic0 and 1.

Contains groups of ports for network virtual computer and Console of Service.

No VLAN, is on the 10.1.0.0/24 network.

    vSwitch1 is associated with pnic2 and 3.

Contains groups of ports for ISCSI1 and ISCSI2.

No VLAN, is on the 10.1.3.0/16 network.

    vSwitch2 is associated with pnic4.

Contains a group of ports for vMotion.

No VLAN, is on the network 10.1.3.0/24.

SAN is an array of iSCSI Dell Equalogic.  The software initiator is used.

    Changes I made:

First of all, I noticed on the links of iSCSI subnet mask and changed to 24 believing he was wrong.

Then, I wanted to add a service on the network of 10.1.3.0/24 console to ensure a certain level of redundancy.  No particular reason, I chose to add a service on vSwitch2 console.  As soon as I did, on the ESX Server guests seem to lose connectivity to the San.  In other words, they seem to be running, would respond to pings, but were inadmissible for something more.  I also lost connectivity to vCenter (which was allowed) and could not use the VI Client to connect directly to the affected ESX host.

To recover, I had to turn off the ESX host to initiate an HA event to bring guests.  To restart, I was able to delete the new console ESX service console, and then put the ESX Server online.

After the restoration of connectivity, I attempted a subset of customers back to balance the load of vMotion, but discovered vMotion would timeout.  I don't know if vMotion has already worked in this environment or not.  After investigation, I discovered the pnic4 cable (used for vMotion and my extra service console) was just a crossover cable from one ESX Server to another.  I replaced the crossover with some cables through the SAN switch.  vMotion has always failed.  I changed the IP addresses of vMotion network 10.1.4.0/24, vMotion started working successfully.  I figured then that is the reason for the 16 mask which was originally on the iSCSI ports.

I think it's all that relevant.  Again, I'd be recognizing any idea and will certainly provide further information as requested.

    Hi Matt,

    Welcome to the forums.

You must use different subnets for separate networks. Otherwise if for example your ESX must contact with the IP 10.1.3.64 iSCSI storage, how would it decide vmkernel port to use: one on vSwitch1 or vSwitch2?

When you have changed your ESX configuration perhaps at some point the host has chosen to use the wrong way and lost its connection to the storage.

    It will be useful.

  • DirectInput8Create() crashes

    Hello

I have a 32 bit console program that listens to the external USB (sensoriumembedded.com) triggers. To listen to, I initiate a direct entry with DirectInput8Create(). It works very well under the debugger of Visual Studio 2012. However, when the debug version of the program is run without VS2012, it crashes. • Files dump debugging and log files to install in the disk cleanup window

The two points above appear in my disk cleanup window, and I wonder if it is o: k to remove. The first occupies a space of 283 KB and the other 2537 KB. The description of these two files in the disk cleanup window is "files created by Windows.

I have a second question: I have about 5 GB left as free space on my hard drive of 'C '. If this is considered sufficient, or should I get more? I am a senior retired and only use the computer for basic items.

I have a computer Dell Dimension 4100 with Service Pack 3 for Windows XP - Home Edition Operating System - desktop, 111 Pentium with 930 MHZ, 20 GB hard drive and 512 MB RAM. The file system is FAT 32.

Thank you very much for your cooperation and your response.

"Debug dump files" are copies of the contents of your computer's memory.

When a program crashes, it will sometimes "dump" all or part of the
contents of the RAM to a file on your hard drive. The file is useful to
a technical support person who tries to understand why the program
crashed. (Most of the tech support people have no idea what to do with a dump
    file.)

Unless you have been asked to submit a dump for inspection file, feel free
    to get rid of them.

Setup logs files are "log" installation of a program. If you
Watch a (they are really just text files - open with Notepad) you will have
see that they give a blow by blow description of how the program has been
    installed, glorious detail.

If a program does not properly settled, the Setup log will tell you what that
was wrong. If you have not had a facility wrong, do not hesitate to ditch
    These files as well.

On the question of how much free space on the disk is enough... There is no
standards. 15% of your drive must be empty in order for Windows
The Defragmenter built into the work. In addition, it is to you.

Your processor is another story. It's not easy to find effective security
software that will work on a P3. Even if you only use the computer
for the basic elements, an internet connection is pretty basic for a online
    criminal to find you.

  • Authentication http post VI errors

I am trying to query a web service to third parties non-LabVIEW LabVIEW 2014, using HTTP POST. Using another utility (restclient-ui-3.5-jar-with-dependencies.jar), I checked that URL, user name, password, and query syntax are accurate and are running on the same computer where my VI fails. I must be missing something when translating that to LV, because I get the error 401 (full authentication is required) and also 415 (unsupported media type).

I have attached the configuration file used for the other utility, my VI and an overview of the response from the Web service for the post of the VI.  I had to make all anonymous, hide url, user, etc., so it can not really be tested as it is, unfortunately. I tried with & without additional authentication header, with & without Config SSL, etc. You can see the different options on the VI.

    Any suggestions?

    Thank you very much.

  • Connect to the router VPN using PPTP (Ubuntu)

    Hello

As I mentioned in other post, I try to get the VPN works for my Ubuntu workstation. I'm not an expert of VPN, so I need help.

So far, people seem to agree that pptp is easier to config that IPSec (under Linux platform). Select the PPTP Protocol and add a user account for the Linksys router.

    Now, the Linux part.

I have pptp-linux installation (it is the best client for linux pptp seams). I try to set it up, but I missed something relatd to coding or something.

I try to follow this documentation: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/VPNClient#PPTP

When I run this command: pon myvpn nodetach

    I get the following error:

    Using interface ppp0
    Connect: ppp0 <-->/dev/pts/2
MPPE required, but not executed [v2] MS-CHAP authentication.
    Connection down.

Here is the log of the router:

    Kind regards

    Hello

Thanks for your help and this useful link.

I have change my configuration file and I managed to set up the pptp connection.

Here the configuration file that I use (for people with the same problem):

    RemoteName until-vpn
    LinkName until-vpn
    ipparam entmd-vpn
    Pty "pptp exemple.dyndns.org - nolaunchpppd.
    name budderball
    usepeerdns
    require mppe
    garbage-eap
    /noauth
    file /etc/ppp/options.pptp

Also, I change the contents of/etc/ppp/chap-secrets:

    Budderball until vpn-based *.

With this configuration, I can launch the tunnel and communicate with the gateway and LAN.

Here the command line I use to establish the connection and than create road so that any request for 192.168.1.0/24 use the ppp0 interface.

sudo pon entmd-cpn debug dump logfd 2 nodetach

sudo route add - net 192.168.1.0 netmask 255.255.255.0 dev ppp0

Finally, by reading the documentation, I found a plugin for Network Manager. It's a work like a charm.

For ubuntu: sudo apt - get install network-manager-pptp

An installation, you must restart to 'activate' the plugin. (this is a bug)

You can use the network - manager to configure your pptp connection. I intend to post a wikiw on the Ubuntu Wiki page.

  • What is referred to in the documentation of 11 GR 2 .rpt file troubleshooting section?

    Hello

I'm looking through the FMW Forms Services Deployment Guide, section A.4.1 (diagnostic customer breaks down) 11 GR 2 documentation.

It is a .rpt file but it is not clear to me where to look for it. He also said that the root of the name of the file must match the name of the executable. What executable do? Does this mean the browser, the form that was underway, the forms runtime, what exactly?

    Thank you

I shouldn't be answering my own question, but... I found a paper troubleshooting for 9i and it does not necessarily mean that the .rpt file is actually the crash dump to the executable that is likely to be the browser (iexplore or netscape - old document).

As we use clients windows 7 2012 windows servers, then this information, in my opinion would be really wrong.  On windows, if there is a picture of the kernel, the file is probably memory.dmp, but if it a user mode dump, then you can configure a number of tools a post mortem debugger.  I do not know the exact details, but I guess that the user can specify the name of the dump file or perhaps the name of the dump file is dependent on the tool. In any case, I don't think it will be necessesarily or probably even be a file ending with. RPT.

This bit of oracle documentation should be updated, I think.

    Good bye.
