Power button option-market problem / stop setting

Current running Windows 7 Home Premium on an HP desktop with a 3.20 Ghz processor and 8 GB of RAM.

My Tower sits at the bottom of a carriage of the printer beside my desk.  I have the option of high power performance put and I changed my eating and sleep button options to do nothing to keep my toddler son to turn off the computer.  But the power button restarts or shuts down the computer.  How can I stop this from happening?  Is it possible to completely disable the power button all together?

If you are talking about the power on the screen button (on the start menu), and then if you upgrade to Windows Professional Edition, you can disable it by using the system policy settings (this is how large companies lock their settings so that employees cannot close their computers or such... it is also used for kiosks where you do not want the public to have access to the switch).

If you mean the real power on the computer tower - no button, you cannot disable it from stopping in case of holding.  It is the substitution of failsafe, where the computer cannot meet the close one-touch command.  The only option it is locked, or open the case and disconnect the cable (which could mean that you can no longer turn on the computer).

Today has been a very strange day. My Droid today locked up three times requiring a battery pull to get it going again. The result is that a number of my settings have been changed, I guess back to their default values. I ' think I got this straightened out. But I noticed I also lost the different options when long pressing the power button. The only option I get now is in the power off. No airplane mode or whatever else was there. I can't find a setting that might have to do with it. How to get those back?

If it is a 3rd party app problem it would be in everyone's best interest to know what it is.  I think I'd do a reset of the data.  I hope bringing the features that have been lost.  I never heard of this problem either.  Hope I never hear about again.  Good luck.

  • I have the acer S7 392. How can I disable the power button?

Is there a way to disable the power button? Most of the PC force at least you press the power button for a few seconds before it shuts down, but this button, which is conveniently located for an accident, immediately stops the machine.

Please someone tell me that I can turn it off or put it in the wok with a timer.

BTW, love this machine (less button and power battery life)

In this case, follow the steps below to solve the problem:
    1. click "Start" and select "Control Panel".
    2. in the control panel search window, search for Power Options.
3 click on "Power Options" and in the window that appears, click on "Choose what the power button" option in the list of options in the left pane.
    4. click the drop-down menu besides that 'when I press the power button"and choose the option you want.
    5. click on "save changes".

Can you give us more information on this vulnerability?
You see something on the screen after pressing the power button?
You can access the BIOS by pressing the F2 key immediately after switching on the device?

Despite this whole issue, I think that if nothing is visible on the screen it could be a serious problem with one of the following: RAM modules, motherboard, CPU/GPU.

From my experience the RAM memory modules are not very expensive (2nd hand might be good enough) and the replacement isn t very delicate in the case where the faulty memory causes this problem, the laptop could be set for a little money.

But in case of problems of motherboard, laptop repair procedure could be very expensive.

  • TouchSmart 610: TouchSmart 610 lights. I have a set of 5 beeps with a yellow light above the power button.

I keep my office earlier this morning with the entry of the normal shutdown process. When I went to reactivate tonight all I get is a set of 5 beep with a yellow light flashing above the power switch. Repeat this five times then beeps stop and only yellow continuous flashing. I can hear and feel the hard drive running. I tried to unplug the power supply and then plugging, but the same thing happens. If I push and hold the power button on, it sounds like the hard drive stops and restarts. The normal blue light comes on for a few seconds then turns off and is replaced by the yellow flashing light. All you have no idea as to what may be the issue?

    Hello:

Normally 5 beeps means there is a problem with the memory.

I suggest that you remove and reinstall the memory modules and blow up if this doesn't fix the problem, if your PC has two memory modules, an and see if the beep disappears.

If this is the case, remove this module and specify the first condition in you removed and if the beep begins once again find the defective memory chip.

If it is not, remove the module and put the other in you deleted and if the ringing stops, you have found the faulty memory chip.

Then replace the faulty memory module by one with the same specifications.

If the ringing continues despite trying these steps, and then either the two chips of memory are bad (unlikely), or the motherboard has a problem.

    Toshiba
    LED power button fix

    Toshiba
    Satellite P300-h-13

    By Thom
    Wijtenburg

First of all, I would like to
say you that I came up with this correction, after a clean reinstall of the
Vista. (I used the serial number of windows on the bottom of my laptop for)
install, so it's the same license as the OEM of windows and therefore
Tout_a_fait legal.) After the clean install and installation of all the
the drivers listed on the site of toshiba LED power button (also
known as the mute button) and the CDDVD butten (mediaplayer button)
stopped working. After browsing around forums toshiba I found
this case, I removed the support button utility that the mute button has acted as
a mute button. Also the mediaplayer button worked fine. Reinstalled
the utility support for the button and they have stopped working. After many
toshiba calls (I think about 5-6 in one day) they opened a
support ticket for me, because they (team support callcenter)
could not find a solution. Following their advice, I did the
next to try to make it work:

    * Don't have a system restore with the restore DVD.
    * Do you have an another clean install.
    * Install the drivers in various ways (alphabetically reversed by alphabetical order and order of collection DVD).
    * update my BIOS.
    * downloaded a 'new' version of value added package (which was the same thing I already had).
    * installed the VAP with and without technical support button utility, no changes.
    After doing everything
This, they said that they did not know the cause of my problem (at the beginning
they thought it was hardware related). They came with a possible
    anwer:

    "It is."
possible that we removed some features of windows vista
operating system so that our one utility for device drivers
work. In addition, we do support the configuration, that we delivered
When you bought the laptop. »

    Now of course, I have
understand that. I waited allmost a week, no response. Neither
by electronic mail, or by phone, so I decided to google more
    on the problem.

    After a certain
some research on Toshiba forum and Googling I came across
a thread that sayd I must first install the utility 'control '.
and the button press. Unfortunately what it did not work.

    Then, all of a sudden
Windows displays a message saying that I should install the TOSHIBA.
"ACPI-based value-added general use and logical device driver.
I clicked on the provided download link, and the VFR package was a newer version
version of the support page for my laptop which is held. So I downloaded
This PPV version 1.17 and installed it. After a reboot, the buttons
still did not work. But at least I got the file HWSetup.exe, where I
could turn the LED off. Look into the button holder utility, I have
saw that there where buttons like "Toshiba Assist" which my
    the laptop model is not.

    Navigation
through the toshiba forum I found a file named ButtonSettings.ini, in
which I can manually configure special keys. After a google
search on the name of the file, I found that all the buttons list
in a registry key. I saw the "Dimmer" file using the button
folder and clicked on it. Poof... lights went out. Click again,
Poof... lights turn it back on. So I replaced the wrong button definitions
with CDDVD and dimmer values. Saved my changes but is not a restart.
Opens the support button utility and change the path of
MediaPlayer (who was always there to a previous definition) to
Dimmer.exe. checked to see if the button CDDVD pointed
MediaPlayer and restarted. When everything has been started, I pushed on the
button again and presto... MUTE lights off. Pushed again, poof...
lights. Pressed the mediaplayer button and started to mediaplyer. I have
has been very happy when everything worked.
    Now that you
know the story, here's the fix.

    * Difficulty: *.
    * Download and install the new VAP from here: [http://cdgenp01.csd.toshiba.com/content/support/downloads/util_tvap_26084A.exe]
    * Choose Edit in the installation and make sure that everything is checked
    * do NOT restart after the installation.
    * Download the ini fix and the fixed registry
    * Uncompress its contents into your working folder.
    * Copy the ini into C:\Program Files\TOSHIBA\TBS (where C: is the drive of program files)
    * In this same folder, start the exe called TBSbtnSt.exe
    * do NOT restart, click on 'no' in the dialog box.
    * Double click on the registry key, and then click 'Yes' to add to the registry
    * Then open the button support utility by clicking Start-> Toshiba-> utilities-> Toshiba assist. Help go to optimilization and click support button tohiba
    * If the path or the description is disabled, fix, and then click Save. See also if the CD/DVD mediaplayer points.
    * Restart you computer now.
    * If everything is is well past your special buttons should work.

    * WARNING: *.

    It worked for
me, with my Toshiba Satellite P300-h-13, edition windows Home premium 32-bit.
It should work on any model of 6 buttons with the mediaplayer and the mute
buttons. I am in no way responsible for any damage that may arise
If the fix does not work correctly. There is absolutely no. GARUENTEE
It will work for you. If the answer is Yes, he does, and if it's not it
    doesn't work.

    I came

Someone knows how to fix this or is something broken?

    Best regards

    Hello

Try disabling the startup of Windows 10 hybrid - you can do the following.

Open settings and select System.  Select food and sleep, and then click additional power settings - in the next window, click on "Choose what the power button" in the left pane.

In the next window, click on "Change settings that are currently unavailable" (close), then Remove the check mark from the box against 'Turn on a quick start (recommended) '.  Click on the button Save the settings, and then close open windows and stop the laptop by right clicking on the icon from the Start Menu, select prompt (Admin) and click 'Yes' to the uac prompt.

Type (or copy and paste) the following command (including spaces) and click Enter.

    Shutdown /s /t 0

Start the laptop and let Windows take over completely for a few minutes before checking if she will now disable correctly.

If this has fixed the problem, it may be useful by turning the quick start back on - sometimes simply remove and re-create the file will solve the problem.

  • Weird problem with Qosmio F50-108 - power power button

    Hello

I have strange problem with button / stop on Toshiba Qosmio F50-108 - pressing the power button won't start the computer. Now, the computer starts only when I press the first button to the right of the power button (Toshiba button Support).

It's as if the buttons have been activated. The power button is still able to stop the laptop or put on standby when you press on, but it no longer starts. Recently, I had my laptop on the service, but I put t know if it has been opened or not. Is it possible that the problem is hardware related or is - this serious just of system configuration? It would help if I Flash the BIOS? Otherwise I will take to the service again.

    Thank you for the answers!

    Hello

If the laptop was on the service, please call them and explain the situation. Start button / stop is only the button that can be used for the specification of switching on and, as far as I know, it cannot be changed with certain parameters.

I assume that there must be a contact problem.

Call and see what they say on this subject.
