[Power Mac G5] Type of liquid cooling system?

Y at - it anyway how to determine type of LCS just by looking at the case?

We have old school Power Mac G5 DP 2, 7GHz (early 2005) we use for editing (well, for the last two years, he's right there and no one wants to touch this old piece of...). They will throw him in the year, and since I was take care of him for a while, I thought I'd take home when they do and use it as a backup machine for the data of my and my wife. I would like the max memory, put a few large hard drives (and small SSD, but there seems to be a lot of problems with this) and run the Linux command (more problems).

But first, I have to clean the machine and look at the State of it. What particularly concerns me is the LCS (DP 2, 7GHz I) - these things have been prone to leaks and what I found there are at least three revisions of the LCS - second of them made by Panasonic seems to be the most reliable. I can't look inside, deeply, because it must be ready to use at least for another 3-4 months, I can do is to open the case and remove the front fan and look outside the heater.

So this brings me to my question: Y at - it anyway to determine the type of LCS just by looking at the case?

Thank you...

Apparently, there were two models more prone to leaks than others, although still very rare. See this http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/powermac_g5/faq/powermac-g5-liquid-cooling-infos-fuites-issues.html

The damage inflicted by a system of flight are very serious, and it is almost impossible to hide or completely clean. As soon as you open the side panel on the Power Mac, you will easily be able to tell if this unit experianced a problem.

I have a 700 GB drive, which has an operating system partition and a single data where I save the work and other files. A couple of weeks, I used SilverKeeper to the ice to back up my apps folder and data to a whole new Samsung 2 TB disk that I had deleted and format (which, although it came with an installer, I was unable to use because it is for Intel Macs only) and left on overnight. SilverKeeper was frozen so I started to work in the morning, but it seemed that everything was copied successfully. Now I don't know for certain that my subsequent problems started with this event, but following it, Finder now takes an age to open folders, the system or on my drive of partitioned data, or completely freezes and means that I have to perform the forced reboot. I deleted the various preferences such as system ones like zapping the PRAM. The strange thing is that after it zapping, the computer restarts on my second drive when I always seem to remember that he started the last used boot disk.

Oddly enough, I can still use all of my apps and can't seem to save and open files on a backup external drive which leads me to think it might be a hardware problem as it seems to affect the second internal drive as well. It has stopped also now boot from the power button and I have to use the option key method. Oddly enough, my second drive is always shown as selected. I don't want to wipe the drive and start again if I can avoid it, as I did with the second disc and now only one will not boot at all.

As it is an old Mac I guess I would have expected something like this (However, it never happened with Mac earlier), but if anyone out there has a suggestion, I would be very grateful to hear it.

  • Noisy liquid cooling system

I have a HP Clubhouse Phoenix with liquid cooling. The fan has become noisy. After 2 hours with assistance today to find the noise, we found whence he came. They gave me a part number 657398-004 or 657398-003. This part is not in stock, and they had no idea when it would be available. Google search has a share of provider, but this game is abandoned. My question is has anyone know of a system that I could use to replace that defective compatible liquid cooling?

    Hello 731coach,

I don't have a replacement for this part number, but if the fan itself became noisy, have you considered oiling it?

Most of the fans can be lubricated. Sewing machine oil works very well. Away from stuff like WD-40.

How to lubricate a noisy fan.

Again, don't know if that's what you want to say as being the problem, but if yes, give the oil trick to try. Google fixing noisy fans computer to view the videos.

    It will be useful.

  • Power Mac G5 power problems...

Hello, on a quest to find a G5 computer, I found an early 2005 Power Mac G5 (2x2.7GHz). The first time I plugged it in and turned on, it works beautifully. The second time, I pressed the power button and heard a loud noise from the power supply. I replaced and this is what is happening now:

When I plug the power cable in, there is a small clicking noise about a second after plugging in, and the power led on the front of the machine flashes for the click. However, it does not at all depend on when I press the power button. When I unplug the cable, it makes the same noise about a second after I unplug the unit. I see a pale glow of the light output after unplugging it.

Anyone have any suggestions to solve this problem? It is part of a collection, that's why I want to do operational.

There may be defective capacitors or other power supply problems, including

overheating in the dust inside the power supply or air channels. And

If the device is cooled by liquid, other things may be involved.

Since all the PowerMac G5 power supplies are considered to be custom,.

to get a good replacement is a way hoped to improve the situation.

Unlikely as is, actually an inexpensive job.

  • I regret that I bought a HP laptop because of the bad cooling system

I regret that I bought a HP laptop because of the bad cooling system and thus overheating problems.

Yes you read right. I have a HP-G42-362LA about 2 months now and I'am living in South America where temperatures are around 30 degrees Celsius. They sell laptops here too but why?

HP has added after the type 362, WHICH culminates to Latin America, HP knows there is a problem of heating here and it isn't only the keyboard layout. People here want a laptop as a workbook.

Why sell laptops in a country where this temperature while HP knows THEY HAVE problems with bad cooling.

I should have better know and got another brand.

But now I'm stuck with him and want a solution from HP.

When you call to them, calling on everyone and pay for it.

Bring and pretender to the store is not an option, because I will be away the laptop for a few weeks, if it returns the question is too.

Also, I installed a more advanced OS on it, because the standard windows 7 Home Basic Spanish, is not able to process more than 3 GB. And my data is stored on the disk too.

So I studied the problem for the past few days and came to a few tips for those who encounter the same problem.

I have windows 7 ultimate English 64 bit installed with an i3-M370, 4 GB of RAM and a 320 GB disk@7200rpm.

    Run fast until he dies.

Idle temperatures of 75 to 80 degrees in a room with air conditioning, free 80 to 85 degrees Celsius.

I use the laptop for development, internet and office. So my system demands are not so high and an i3 is sufficient.

When I'm zipping or have a few browseractivities the internal fan begins to 80 degrees and the temperature rises quickly to 90 and the system died in sleep and includes a thermal cut-out.

It is impossible to work with. So, who needs a quick fix.

Of course, as my old notebook I use a base with fan too, is here, no luxury but a necessity.

    That's 5 degrees less.

I removed the RAM door and noted that the door had a closed plastic sticker, why? The hot spot has been closed!

-Who designed this laptop I forgot to cooling, the greatest problem to laptop computers. Not really smart. -

Detached got 2 degrees lower. It is not possible to manipulate the voltage so I went the power options in the module of windows 7 and changed my powerplan.

Change power settings, high performance, Powerprocesmanagement, minimum 50%, 80% maximum, OK, save the changes.

Downloaded Trottlestop 3.30 to http://www.techinferno.com/downloads/ and run

The value clockmodulation to 75%, chipset clock mod to 75% and mark, multiplier and mark 1 less than the maximum (for example 18 becomes 17) and mark, mark powersaver, mark EIST, mark BD PROCHOT, TPL TDP value 0 and TDC to 0 and click OK, save and turn on.

Start the utility at any time after the start.

Now I have a temperature slowed to 55 to 60 degrees and a temperature that loop at 88 degrees. SO I cannot DO the HEAVY STUFF or the thermal shutdown active again.

Tomorrow, I buy another base with cooling and hope I can better work with another 5 degrees less.

Because of my settings, I lost the i3 CPU power and he likes a 1600 Mhz instead of a 2400 Mhz machine.

    And the problem still remains.

    In my opinion:

There must be a device to cooling inside the computer laptop and coolingroom.

In the BIOS setup, the user must be able to reduce the tension in the allowed range for this country which enjoys a warm climate. Now, this is not possible.

In the BIOS it owes me more possible settings account for the advanced user. It can be done with authorized beaches. Now, this is not possible.

Hope that someone has the best ideas, but in any case I hope I could help someone until we have a more stable solution.

As promised, I would say the endresult.

I brought my laptop to HP Service Center and they repaired it and came back after 8 days.

HP has replaced the fan. And of course the thermal pasta...

And now up and running at 37 degrees Celsius and before the double near the thermal shutdown.

But I insisted on my laptop now with all the big work in 100% of cpu power to know some of it is OK before the expiry of my warranty over 5 months.

So don't be not shy, like I did, but now at HP with this problem. No more wasting time with relocations etc.

HP has always think it's your fault by using the wrong drivers etc, but IT IS NOT.

  • Portege R630 - how to clean cooling system?

I've had my Portege R630 for a few months now and I love it. HOWEVER! Small snag. I live is a House with 3 other people and it gets pretty dusty. Not really bad, but I'm not going to lie it's almost clinical environment. Now, my R630 started having what I think is 'too hot' for processing power used.

Currently, my CPU usage is between 10 and 20% according to time and PC Health Monitor, my system CPU are 60% and my fan runs at 50-60%. My system has the Core i3 2.53gHz processor, unusually warm for the system?

And if my guess is so dust is linked. But how to clean the radiator on it? It's not really normal. I can get my hands on a can of compressed air, but because the fan is so far away from the CPU, the dust could be everywhere on this side of the laptop. What is the best way to get clean?

    Thank you very much!

    Hello

Cleaning of the cooling system is not complicated. All you need is to jet of compressed air that you can buy from every computer store I think.

Before to start the cleaning procedure remove the AC/DC adapter and battery. Turn the laptop around, then blow air gently and shortly into the holes in the case. This will blow out the dust.
As you can see is very easy and it of not necessary to disassemble the laptop.

  • Satellite L50D-B-15Z problem with cooling system

Hi, I have a laptop about a year ago. And for 5 months, I have a problem with the fans. Out and the following message is displayed:

WARNING: A problem with the cooling system has been detected. Please turn off the power immediately and return it for service.

The strange thing is that the first time that is spent stopped working a week, then a month and finally stopped working until 3 months there now will not start.
I have even the implied warranty of the product, but I didn't think to send because it takes virtually every week for classes. I can use it, but if I perform actions that require superior performance as playing the games or download several videos at the same time to start warming up, getting the message and if continuous closed finally down.
What should I do and how can I solve the problem?

Sorry if I do not quite understand. I do not speak English.

There may be dust stuck in the heat sink.

So I take it on the type of service (toshiba) and must answer for fan, Mo, HARD drive, he said. Is this possible? -J' I have extended warranty, but is ' t it much? not to mention that it takes a month to get things down.

He also mentioned that I could use the machine with a cooling pad until then if I wish.

    Any feed back?

    > Yes the fan had stopped working and touchpad area was hot.

In this case, there is really a hardware problem.
But I m wondering why he should replace the HARD drive and the motherboard
Perhaps only the cooling module began at malfunction of course this is just a speculation
If the technician has checked the material, then they need to know what parts are not OK.
So don t think you have no choice.

  • HP Z840 workstation: for Z840 liquid cooling?

I currently have a Z800 WS dual Xeon CPU and coolant.  I am scheduled for a new WS and watched the Z840 but I don't see an option of liquid cooling. I run the structural analysis software that allows me to analyze a load case by heart so more cores means a faster flow.

I was told that the faster clock speed and multiple real cores will be the best, so what will work better CPU and RAM?

Another question, is that HP has a Mobo that supports several consumers i7 cpu popular with a lot of ram? I don't know if the Z840 WS and processor Xeon is the best bet.  Are there other options?

There is no option of liquid cooling for z840 systems. With current processors, we do not believe that the system requires liquid colling option. HP get a kit rather than high-performance cooling liquid cooling in air. I don't know when, but not a long time.
