PowerCLI / vCLI / vMA - what to choose?

I deploy a new ESX environment with a vCenter and about 20 ESXi host at three data centers. Most of the time I use vCenter to manage all welcomes them, but if the need arise I can use the Mode of Tech Support.

Insofar as VMware ESXi feared the future. I am relatively new on ESXi and therefore the question - what remote management tools I should use?

Should I concentrate on learning one of them or I'll have to use all of them for different tasks?

Is there a solution that makes all or most of the things and that we personally recommend you.

Thank you.

If you're a man "reels" PowerCLI will be easier to learn because it uses PowersHell. You will use most often in any case as long as the new M$ products come out.

If you are a ' * nix guy "then vSphereCLI will be easier because it uses perl.

The vMA of one thing offers it is particularly useful is resxtop, which is a tool remote esxtop. Goes away once the traditional ESX Server and ESXi is the only choice, resxtop will be very important.

It seems that your XP hangs for some reason any...

Why do we know almost nothing about your system (except a laptop with XP Pro)?  I know this isn't your fault...

Please answer these questions and to implement the following:

Provide information on your system, the better you can:

What is your system brand and model?

What is your Version of XP and the Service Pack?

Describe your current antivirus and software anti malware situation: McAfee, Symantec, Norton, Spybot, AVG, Avira!, MSE, Panda, Trend Micro, CA, Defender, ZoneAlarm, PC Tools, Comodo, etc..

The question was preceded by a loss of power, aborted reboot or abnormal termination?  (this includes the plug pulling, buttons power, remove the battery, etc.)

The afflicted system has a working CD/DVD (internal or external) drive?

You have a genuine XP installation CD bootable, which is the same Service as your installed Service Pack (this is not the same as any recovery CD provided with your system)?

If there is a problem starting, XP is configured to automatically try to start again and you can stuck in a loop not being able to go beyond the screen boot options, or none of these startup options you choose will work only.

Sometimes, when XP has a problem starting or falls down and tries to start again, it will give you a "short" menu of boot options and none of them will appear to be good to get your system going again.  You have tried them all!

The options are similar to the Advanced Boot Options menu XP, but the only option that you need (disable automatic error system reboot) are not offered, because XP went too far during the boot process and offers a limited number of boot options.

If this is the case, you must call Options menu advanced boot yourself until you do not see the option:

Disable the automatic restart in the event of system failure

When you get the XP Advanced Options correct start menu you want to see, he has options on it like these:

    Safe mode
    Safe mode with networking
    Safe mode with command prompt

    Enable Boot logging
    Enable VGA mode
Last good Configuration known (your most recent settings that worked)
Directory Services Restore Mode (Windows domain controllers only)
    Debug mode
Disable the automatic restart in the event of system failure

    Start Windows normally
    Reset
    Return to OS Choices Menu

You need to choose in this menu is the option:

Disable the automatic restart in the event of system failure

Then if XP does not start normally, you will see an error screen with information and clues about the problem and then you can decide what to do next.

If you do not see the automatic restart on system failure option turn it off, you must reset your system and start typing the key F8 on the keyboard until you see her disable automatic restart on system failure option.

If you miss the window of opportunity F8, you must try again and start tapping the F8 key with more urgency (earlier and more frequently) until you see disable automatic restart on system failure, and then select.

You must keep trying the F8 menu until you see disable automatic restart on system failure option, and select it.

If your system has a Blue Screen of Death (BSOD), we need to know what the screen says:

Here's a BSOD example showing information you provide:

    http://TechRepublic.com.com/i/tr/downloads/images/bsod_a.jpg

Send for the nose and the Red arrows (3 to 4 lines total).

Send all * line STOP message since there are clues in the 4 parameters.

If it looks like there is some kind of name listed in the STOP message file, send this line also.

Ignore the boring text unless it seems important to you.  We know what a BSOD looks like, we need to know what your BSOD looks like.

Answering queries and results report of the disable automatic restart on system failure screen and you can decide what to do next.

    Hi centi,.

    1. Why did you start the windows recovery environment by pressing the F8 key?
    2. do you get an error at startup of the system?

If you are unable to start Windows in normal mode, try the following steps:
    a. boot to the Windows recovery environment by pressing the F8 key.
    b. on the window that says "select an operating system to repair" click Cancel to see Windows Recovery Options window, and then select command prompt.
    (c) in the command prompt, type the following command and press ENTER: Bootrec.exe /RebuildBcd
Output Type d and hit enter to close the command prompt.
    f. restart the computer in normal mode and check if the computer starts Windows successfully.

  • How to set up a small and medium size server and what to choose?

    Hi all

[I am a complete newbie when it comes to the implementation of a server and how to choose the computer to the server which configuration choose choose what operating system and what is the cost involved overall in it] wanted to proceed.
    My requirements are:

2 Basic programs such as AutoCAD and Microsoft Office installed on the server
    3 5 connecting nodes

  • No matter what police choose to compose an email, it always jumps back to comminute. Is there something I can do?

So. Why can't I choose a font for outgoing mail? When I choose my police, police area changes to comminute the moment I touch the keyboard. Select all, and then try to change the font also has no effect.

It seems that all I have to do is tick the box 'Allow messages to use other fonts'! But why on earth I need to 'allow' * I * use the same font I chose? When I select a font not expected I was going to more or less automatically has permission to use it? Naively, I assumed that this box meant I was allow fonts * other than that I myself selected! *

  • Cannot open e-mail messages. MSG, it's that there is no program associated with this file and define and association. Have no clue as to how or what program choose. Thank you jp__

    problem is email

I assume you are talking about email attachments.  Each attachment has a three-character extension that associates the file with a program (in the start menu / default of programs / associate a file or Protocol with a program and then scroll through the list for the three-character extension).  Many are well known (.doc for Word Documents) and .pdf for Adobe Reader documents, but some are not so well known.  Some are also used by several different programs is sometimes important to know what program created the file in order to know what program to associate with her.  Your best bet since it is emails is to ask the sender to you say the name and version of the program so that you can install a program that can at least find out if is not working with the file if you do not recognize the extension.  Some attachments to e-mail are not intended to be read and there are programmatic reasons and must not be opened (but I can't give you a list of all of them - barely know they exist).

Sometimes you can google the extension (for example, google .avi http://www.afterdawn.com/glossary/terms/avi.cfm) and a link arises which will tell you what programs can do the file type and which programs can read or work with the file type (or you may need to go to other links to get this reversal - in this case a lot of programs can open the file because it is a very common file for which many different programs have been developed - program that it becomes irrelelevant).  If it's a single program, so you know what you need.  If more than one program, you must the sender to tell what program you used to create the file unless the .avi file that can be read by the host (or you can guess or try different options until you find one that works but this can take a long time, can damage the open file with wrong program and can be expensive if you buy one of the programs that you are testing).

In fact you do not define an association.  When you install the program, the extensions it can handle are identified by the Setup program and included in the listing file associations.  In fact, there is no way to add an extension to the registration of the association - you can change the programs that are used by the extensions in the list by default.  Some extensions are added automatically by Vista when installed and work a little differently than others (for example, .lnk or .exe), but we don't need to go into that, unless the extension you are having problems with is one of those (you don't mention the extension so I can't give you advice).

    I hope this helps.

  • What to choose to run/open an .msu file?

Can someone tell me how or what to select Enable Windows6. 1-kb958559-x 64.msu, please? I just downloaded from Ms.

    Hello

Well, a double click is the normal way end planned to run a *.msu file. It was not clear from your first post that you had already tried that and it failed. A double-click is the method described on the web page that you downloaded the file from:

    http://www.Microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyId=2b6d5c18-1441-47EA-8309-2545b08e11dd&displaylang=en

and also the method used, the last time that you have installed this file in June :-)

    http://social.answers.Microsoft.com/forums/en-us/w7install/thread/8a6b2b77-163F-482B-8b34-842ef3442428

However... the utility which actually performs the *.msu's WUSA. EXE, the Windows Update Standalone Installer. Then open a "as Administrator" command prompt and run this command:

    WUSA \Windows6.1-kb958559-x64.msu

    to install the update.

    It will be useful,

  • What to choose

I'm doing a wiget where in I can get new updates, sports udates

Please me quide on how do?

If you want to use XML or database?

What to use java, development or web development?

Web and Java development are able to solve this problem. The decision is up to (among others):
-What technology you're more comfortable with?
-That the technology you * want * to use / learn more on / develop your skills with.
-What requirements do you have? For example, the Web made easier cross-platform work.

To retrieve the news/sports updates, you must implement an HTTP request to a web service that provides these updates. There are several RSS feeds samples there that I would recommend as a starting point. Being a WebWorks forum here, if you decide to go the route of Web, we provide leadership here.

Regarding the XML database vs. for what purpose? If you are looking to record data for use in offline mode, a database is probably your best bet. Java and the Web have implementations of SQLite. Web also has local storage and, BB10, IndexedDB.

XML is a file structure, not necessarily a data storage mechanism. If you don't want to save your data in a XML file structure, you must explore the FileSystem APIs to save this somewhere persistent data on the device to the user.

  • What to choose? Samsung 850 pro or Photoshop pro 950 m2.

I'm going to build my new PC, and the focus is Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator. I on side projects such as Cinema4D, Adobe Premiere and After effects. It will be a processor 6800K, a GTX 1070 (for some extra fun in spare time) and 32 GB of memory.

I'm still nog certain to do the 850 or 950 m2 pro pro for my OS and programs.

On paper and in the benchmarks, the 950 pro is destroying every SSD out there. But the downside is the Heath and the price.

Second and this is my main question... you will see the difference between the 950 pro and the 850 pro when you make large files. For example, I was working in a digital painting 14FR. It's a spectacular size that would be printed for large windows. It was horrible to work in this file and it took me a lot of extra time, waiting on the computer.

-What is the 950 pro worth his money or doe that speed up my work in just a few seconds?

I hope someone can help out me.

    Roy

When you work with large files, you must make sure that there is no I/O bottlenecks anywhere. In other words, you need a balanced system. I don't know what an SSD marginally more fast, by itself, will make much difference.

First of all you need of enough RAM (32-128 GB) and a record of effective working configuration. If your system SSD has sufficient free capacity - and you need a lot for these filesizes, 100-150 GB at least - the fastest configuration is to have scratches on your system disk. With spinning disks, it is advisable to have zero on a separate disk.

If you want maximum speed of I/O you might consider RAIDing two or more SSD, but then you must also have a separate RAID controller. Not sure if it is worth.

FWIW, I have a 500 GB 850 as my system disk, using an i7-3820 and 32 GB of RAM. It works well for large files, I regularly work on the panos of 30 000 pixels or so without any problem. However, I would like to make a separate 240GB SSD set up for scratch, mainly to avoid wear on the system drive.
