PowerConnect 70xx / LLDP-MED / Polycom phones

Has anyone successfully set up a Polycom cx600 Lync phone using LLDP-MED to assign the vlan? If so, what settings to use? When I go the LLDP statistics, I see that the switch is grateful for the device and it giving even correct attribution vlan but when the phone starts up it usually presents in the vlan data. Also, when I consult LLDP statiscics interface, there are '11 releases", which is about how many times I rebooted the phone...

The solution was to turn the PortFast.

    Hello

We currently have a few stacks of 7048Ps as our office switches. We have computers and IP phones, they each have their own individual ports on the switch (so no phone to PC chaining).

Currently we have all ports access on the same parameters:

    1. native vlan is data vlan
    2 LLDP-MED assigns vlan VoIP

When a phone is plugged into the switch LLDP-MED assigns to the vlan voice and when a PC is connected, it stays on the vlan data.

We have to put in 802. 1 X in the near future and unfortunately our phones do not support 802. 1 X so I was wondering how these two (802. 1 X and LLDP-MED) play together and if there is no interoperability.

I realize, I could add all the MAC addresses of the phone in AD and use them as MAB access but is not a particularly attractive option for me. I was wondering if it is possible to still have LLDP-MED assign the vlan voice and allow traffic for a device that does not meet the demands of X 802,1? How can I do this?

There are models/brands of switches that provide the functionality to accept LLDP packets on an 802. 1 x port is blocked. For example, a #lldp Brocade - pass - through

    http://www.Brocade.com/downloads/documents/html_product_manuals/FI_08001_ADMIN/GUID-CF26DE09-5467-4C30-9116-BB3C6F02CBCE.html

I cannot find any like that on 70xx switches. The guest VLAN will not have access to the rest of the internal network, but will have access to the internet. So, theoretically, all the phones would not be able to authenticate, place them on the guest VLAN, and they would still be able to hit the outside network. But if they rely on nothing else in the network as a DHCP server, they would not be able to communicate with him.

I don't know of a way around this problem.

  • Question about the implementation of VLAN automatic voice with Polycom phones on a SF 300 - 24 p

Someone at - it Setup successfully a SF 300 - 24 p to automatically assign a VLAN voice for traffic from an IP of Polycom phone? We have activated with LLDP-MED policy assigned to the port, as well as the interface configured as a trunk with the PVID defined on the VLAN data and Auto VLAN enabled.

    Hello

Thank you for using the Cisco support community. My name is Nico Muselle and I work for Cisco Small Business Support Center.

In response to your question, the only additional thing required on your switch is the choice of one of the below configurations:

    1. Affect the phone VLAN statically to ports connection of phones.

      or

    2. Turn them on Vlan voice (and change CoS affecting 5), and add telephony YES Polycom phones (the first 3 bytes of the MAC). You may need to add a few different Yes. This way the switch detects the phone YES and add the switchport to the Vlan voice.

LLDP-MED network strategy as you have defined it, on the other hand, will be used to assign the VLAN on the phone automatically if you do not have to configure it manually on all phones.

In short, you can choose one of the methods above, in combination with the LLDP-MED policy so everythings should work just fine. If it is not, please let me know.

    Kind regards

  • LLDP-MED question

    Hello

We have a SF300 - 24 p with the 1.3.7.18 version and does not work with IP Phone Yealink T28 LLDP MED.

The phone announced via LLDP, the Type (127) TLV, TIA-TR41 multimedia tools with political network Capable of showing that he is able to receive the vlan VoIP via LLDP-MED, however, the switch provides ever of the vlan voice on the phone via the network using extension LLDP-MED policy.

We used the vlan automatic voice and also macro smart port, following the procedures in configuration from the link without success.

    https://supportforums.Cisco.com/document/112876/how-configure-LLDP-Med-sx300

We also used some vlan manual voice (YES Table) without success and we also tried to disable the port smart macro without success too.

We conducted these tests use versions 10.3.0.62, 1.3.5.58, 1.3.7.18 without success and always checking the same behavior.

After all these attempts failed, we studied the formum and we found the post below where they refer to the same difficulties with Avaya phones. We check that open tac cases recognized by Cisco on this issue.

    https://supportforums.Cisco.com/discussion/11654386/LLDP-Avaya-9600-series-phones

Read the release notes, however, for the latest verisons, Cisco never mentions a solution to this problem on LLDP-MED.

Is it possible to know if the SF300 can be fully functional for LLDP announce the vlan VoIP via LLDP-MED by using third-party provider telephone Yealink IP, Avaya, etc.?

What version of the firmware on the Yeaklink?  I've heard of problems LLDP Yealink on the side have been resolved in more recent firmware.  Also, I looked at the configuration steps and I have never had to pass step 3 or 4.  The bit of the network policy is not necessary and you can try again without this part.

My experience has been just set the voice VLAN make you LLDP is enabled and the configuration of the phone as ports:

    !

    interface gigabitethernet6

switchport trunk allowed vlan add 100

  • Phone number 5548 LLDP connect

Hi all and thanks for the responses to come.

I have 3 power connect 5548 works very well. All of a sudden 5 ip phones just stopped working. They are not able to connect more. I made no change, no change, so I don't understand why it has stopped working. The local network is fine.
In LLDP neighbors information, I have 35 devices, for most ip phones and only 5 phones not working is not on the same switch number 2.

The only difference I see is on the "capabilities" of LLDP-MED

I see that on a phone 'PoE - PD, the inventory of network strategy, capabilities'

and on a phone not connected "LLDP-MED political network capabilities"

Phones are ok because if I turn them to a working phone everything is ok again, so the problem is with the switch of dell.

Perhaps you can help, I can not me to restart it offers...

I have no green ethernet enabled.

the stop order #, # no shutdown didn't work :/

    Edit:
is it possible to see more balls as you can do it with tcpdump?

    Edit:

Finally restarted the defective switch and it works! at least until now

  • LLDP Voice VLAN

I'll put up a D40 Digium Switchvox PBX phones and switches Cisco SG200.  The PBX is no not any COP or LLDP pub so I don't expect the switch to automatically determine the voice VLAN ID and I need to manually set.  How can I configure the switch manually to publis the voice VLAN via LLDP-MED?  I've been tinkering for hours and may not include the TLV voice in packets.  Be able to help?

    Thanks in advance,

    Paul

At the present time, my switch is configured by default vlan 100 and all ports as 100u. When you connect a phone to any port, it is dynamically assign the vlan 1. Also note that I created the vlan 1.

  • PC profiled as a phone by ISE 1.4

    Hello

I see that attached to the Cisco phones PC profiled by ISE 1.4 (patch 3) as Cisco phones. When first attached to the n (Cisco 6880 - last worm 15.2) the phone is emerging as a "Cisco-IP-Phone-7911" correctly and the PC is 802. 1 x authenticated ok and profiled as "Microsoft-workstation.

In the minute the PC varies "Microsoft-Desktop" to "Cisco-IP-Phone-7911"in the list of endpoint ISE."

When I opened the PC in the endpoint list, I see that he "inherited" details cdp of the phone. When I disconnect and reconnect the phone/PC, they all have two get profiled by ISE that phones - the n is configured to access Multi field (a device authorized in both voice and data) then the switchport is off because of a security breach.

To work around this problem, I have disabled cdp on the n and active lldp. The phone is now emerging as "Cisco-IP-Phone" (Cisco-IP-Phone-7911 profile requires cdp) and the PC is profiled as "Microsoft-workstation.

Is this a bug ISE or IOS? I had this problem with all available versions of the track 15.2 for the 6880. I am aware of the bugs CSCuu97659 and CSCuu94127 but these thought related to ISE 1.3 and earlier versions

    Thank you

Hi Andre, I think you're hit these bugs... and add to the mixture CSCuu76087 :)

  • Get some VLAN voice to work on 5548P

    Hello

I was wondering if there is a way to accomplish the following. I want the passage to the tag the traffic on its own based on the YES Table and pass it up to the Sonicwall (DHCP server/router) without going through the phone itself do the marking. Is this possible? Currently, the installation so I put manually the VLAN ID on the phone itself, but these phones can work anywhere there is a sense of internet connection if I manually add the tag VLAN, the phone will not work outside of the corporate network.

    Thank you

If your phone supports LLDP-MED, you can install the switch with a VLAN voice. This wiki covers the implementation of the VLAN voice.

    http://en.community.Dell.com/TechCenter/networking/w/wiki/configuring-Dell-PowerConnect-55xx-series-switch-voice-VLAN.aspx

Do not have to configure phones that you configure LLDP-MED. The VLAN ID information are passed with LLDP-MED configured on the VoIP phone using the LLDP-MED mechanism. By this method, the voice from the VoIP phone data are tagged with the VLAN ID exchanged and the usual traffic would go to the PVID.

Here is the link to the user guide. LLDP-MED configuration begins at page 540.

    FTP://FTP.Dell.com/ Manuals /Cccomplis /powerconnect-5524_User%27s%20Guide_en-us.pdf

Once the phone is in the voice VLAN it can still receive an IP address by the DHCP server using the DHCP relay. The switch acts as a DHCP relay agent that listens for DHCP messages,

and passes between DHCP servers and clients, residing in IP or VLAN different subnets.

Relay DHCP and espionage begins on page 563 of the user guide.

    I hope this helps.

  • VLAN voice N3048P and DHCP issues

    Hello

I just received several switches for our N3048P and 2 x 4048 access layer - WE for our base layer. Are the N3048P VLT'd between two of 4048. There are 4 x N3048P of one on the other. The 4048 possess all gateways via VRRP.

I have 802. 1 x works with my Windows client test, and I can get the phone (Cisco 7941) to acquire a DHCP address if I put it on a port "switchport mode access. However, if I change the port to a general port with vlan enabled voice and 802. 1 x, the phone does not have a DHCP address, but the PC attached to the phone Gets a DHCP address in the VLAN correct.

I see CDP and LLDP messages exchanged via Wireshark, and it seems that the phone and the switch are to exchange the VLAN voice correctly.

My question is, why the phone can't one address DHCP?

That ends up being the correct port configuration:

The most important line here is «the dot1x port-control on mac» I got 'auto control by port dot1x' configured, but it does not work as expected. In addition, defining the comments-vlan-period and supp-timeout were necessary. If the port was shot, the switch would not necessarily reauth port.

  • Is this a normal behavior?

Here is the log of trap to plug a phone into our pile of 7048Ps. We had very strange questions lately where the captain to spend randomly restarts and then a few hours more later masters new reboots...

I have the feeling that happens when a phone is plugged.

Any thoughts on this problem of port? What happens here with stp? BTW, portfast is enabled.

  • Need help to set up voice VLAN in SG300

    Hello

I spent too much time on it now and need help. I'm trying to set up a voice switch VLAN on a SG300 - 28 p. I need to charge a phone Cisco 7965 connected to a port on SG300 - 28 p to use VLAN 100, and a workstation connected to the phone to use Cisco 7965 on VLAN 101 by SG300 - 28 p. In the common Cisco IOS switches, this task is configured as follows:

    interface gi25

    switchport mode access

    switchport access vlan 101

    switchport voice vlan 100

Trying to achieve this scenario with a Cisco SG300 switch turns into a nightmare. You will have to deal with a Dynamic of VLAN voice Auto Voice VLAN mode. Then, you must have a configured trigger and activated Automatic Smartport . I tried to do this in CLI nothing helps. Cisco 7965 receives an IP address of the access VLAN on Gi15 interface, which is 101 VLAN. I need to receive an address IP of the VLAN 100.

The current configuration under Gi15 interface is as follows:

    interface gigabitethernet15

    activate the storm control

broadcast storm control level kbit/s 10

    Storm-control include multicast

    port security throw trap 60

maximum port security by 10 points

    port security mode max-addresses

    spanning tree portfast

    LLDP-med disable

    switchport mode access

    switchport access vlan 101

    ! next order is internal

    macro auto smartport dynamic_type unknown $native_vlan 101 $voice_vlan 100

Now, I don't know how the macro auto smartport dynamic_type unknown $native_vlan 101 $voice_vlan 100 command in the config, and I do not know how to remove it.

When I try to enter the command macro auto smartport type ip_phone_desktop under Gi15 interface, I get the following error message:

The $voice_vlan macro setting is not configurable by the user

It seems that the auto attendant smartport macro ip_phone_desktop can not apply the setting $voice_vlan with a value of 100. In fact, I explicitly does not use this parameter to everything in the order of macro auto smartport type ip_phone_desktop ; However, the SG300 switch knows that the voice VLAN VLAN 100, and he's trying to use this VLAN ID as the value of the $voice_vlan parameter, the macro fails.

I tried statically configure the voice VLAN on the switch SG300 using the command id of the vlan 100 voice , but I couldn't get the ip_phone_desktop macro to configure interface Gi15 correctly. Then, I removed the command id of the vlan 100 voice and obtained SG300 to learn his voice VLAN ID of UC560 connected to the SG300 through a trunk port based on the port configuration (connected to SG300) for the trunk of the next UC560:

    switchport trunk vlan 101 native

    switchport mode trunk

    switchport voice vlan 100

    Cisco-switch macro description

This is the command switchport voice vlan 100 who announces to SG300 via CDP VLAN 100 is a voice VLAN. When I run the command show vlan local VoIP on the SG300, I get the following result:

VLAN ID - VPT DSCP Source MAC address Interface

    1                    5          46       default           ----                    ---

    * 100 CDP e0:5f:b9:xx:yy:zz gi28

Thus, it is clear that the SG300 receives information from UC560 via CDP in port Gi28 VLAN 100 is the voice VLAN. However, I can not always apply the ip_phone_desktop macro to SG300 Gi15 interface.

Also, I tried to set up vState ofoithis vlan auto-déclenché as well as the commands in global configuration State vlan automatic voice activated mode. Or setting changes anything view voice VLAN announced at Cisco 7965 where Cisco 7965 continues to use VLAN101 (access the VLAN assigned to the interface Gi15).

    Hello telecastle,

The Macro just get in the way most of the time. A default state on the switch a user will set the id of the vlan voice with orders

    (config) #voice vlan id 100

    * This will create the vlan 100

VLAN, VoIP? * You can use to change your defaults for dscp and cos a long with all the other settings.

State of vlan (config) enabled automatic #voice

    (config) #interface rank fa1-24

    (config-if-range) #switchport trunk vlan 101 native

    trunk (config-if-range) #switchport allowed vlan add 100

    * This function will define the vlan native on the trunk to 101 for the data port and vlan tagged will be 101 for the voice.

CDP is enabled automatically and should learn the features of the phone and get on the phone to the vlan 101 on this port.

CDP of the UC should automatically fill in the switch of the SG. You may need to upgrade the switch to the latest firmware however. Also make sure that the DHCP server for the voice if the CPU must be configured accordingly.

Let me know if this helps.

  • SG300 series Switch - #Unknown # procedure or function: free?

    Hi all

Does anyone know what "##Unknown procedure or function: free" means on a series of SG300 switch? (as below)

Also, I want to create a model of configuration, change and mass file to deploy it... What is the best way to do it on a switches 300 series? They do not seem to behave like the Cisco IOS products when it comes to change and download config files.

    Switch software version:

    v1.3.0.62 / R750_NIK_1_3_647_260

    CLI v1.0 v1.3.0.62 / R750_NIK_1_3_647_260
    CLI v1.0

    !
    interface gigabitethernet13
    IP-Phone & PC description
    activate the storm control
    Storm-control broadcast level 10
    Storm-control include multicast
maximum port security by 10 points
    port security mode max-addresses
    port security throw trap 60
    spanning tree portfast
switchport trunk allowed vlan add 100
    LLDP-med network-strategy to add 1

    Procedure or function ##Unknown: free

    !

Thanks in advance for any help...

    Matt

Hi Matt, I wasn't looking to recreate because I think I know the problem, that goes back to my initial suspicion.

You have many things going on, basically, I think you're too smart for your own good.

    • If you have car insurance, you don't need to manually tag the VLAN, so your config from port to manually set 100t can be breaking stuff
    • You have the policy of lldp attributed to the port assigned by the voice of the auto

To make this as painless as possible, I would like to switch (back out config is boring and takes too long in my opinion).

Use this document for the LLDP-MED

    https://supportforums.Cisco.com/docs/doc-27005

It must be remembered that automatic speech depends on the protocols of discovery as the cdp and lldp. These auto policies don't produce any results or undesirable if already manually set you the parameter. The switch performs a basic QoS for the CoS and DSCP to tag packets, so that is why everything is basically done twice - or more based on this config.

  • SG200-08 newbie questions

I recently bought the Smart Switch SG200-08, but I have some "beginner questions" on this subject that I started using it.

The edge of the watch 1.0.1.0 firmware. What is the latest firmware for the switch?

Should I enable auto configuring IPv6 and DCHPv6 in my switch settings to be ready for IPv6 as my ISP it place on the road?

How can I go about changing of the switch username? I could easily change the password, but with problems for the user name to modify.

Do I need to do anything on the LLDP-MED settings? What is that?

How can I confugure time settings system so that the switch works in my timezone (Central USA time)?

Thanks a bunch for all help!

    Hi Nathan,

    (1) firmware: it seems that the latest firmware for the SG200-08 is 1.0.5.1.  You can get it in the Software Download Center. I don't know if this link to the software would work, but let's see.

    (2) IPv6: You use NAT of your router? You're going to be using ipv4 or ipv6 internally addresses? Making assumptions on your network, I would like to leave it turned off for now.

    (3) user name: in the user interface web ther, click the administration drop-down list, and then click user accounts. You can add/modify/delete here.

    (4) LLDP (Link Layer Discovery Protocol) and CDP (Cisco Discovery Protocol) allows the switch directly connected neighbors and see their capabilities and settings automatically. Do you use other Cisco devices on your network or IP phones? For example, the vlan voice can be automatically determined using CDP/LLDP.  Please see p. 53 of SG200 Manual here for more details.

    (5) system time can be set under administration-> settings-> time time system.

    Best,

    David

  • Questions about my SG-300-10MP switch Setup

    Hello world

Thank you very much for your help in advance. I was never in this town before.

I just got the new SG - 300 switches. My manager has ordered for me. I didn't know how it works so far... not a based IOS. I don't really know how to set it up.

In any case, I have a switch configured 3750 already in a new site. It has two VLANs, a vlan 11 for PC, and one is for vlan VOIP 320. It has automatic qos works as well. I have installation just a trunk for the new SG - 300 switch.

Now on the new small switch 300 SG... I have a few questions:

(1.) I also created two VLAN, it is VLAN11 (for PC), and a 320 VLAN. For this one, I go to the Web-GUI and assign the 320 to the VOICE Vlan. I also changed the CoS at 5 (of 6). Are these ok?

2.) on port number 9, it's the default trunk, so I add two 11 and 320 to the trunk and leave the other default settings. It's too well ok?

3.) on a #1 access port, which will be an IP phone, attached with a PC to connect. What I did is to change the mode to Interface Vlan on "GENERAL." Is this fair? I also 'SEE' the box belonging to a VLAN auto voice. And let the Voice VLAN QoS mode such as telephone company Source MAC ADDRESS. I did all these right?

4.) Finally, for the part of the QoS... Let them default all untouchables - which is the default QoS of Basic... I don't know if it will be fine. I know that the company switch can assign an Auto-QOS command and that he would do all the config itself. Or maybe you mind if you would share your QoS configuration settings?

I'm more concerned about the parameters in QoS here. Hope you can help.

    Thank you very much.

    Hello

In the case of the Cisco 7961 (and other phones that support LLDP-MED), you can assign VIRTUAL local network for the phone settings using the LLDP-MED on the switch.

    You have to

    -allow to the vlan VoIP

    -Add MAC YES

-set the port on vlan automatic voice

    -activate LLDP-MED in the world

-create a network policy to assign VLAN320

-assign this policy network on port, the phone is connected to

    Hope this helps,

    Kind regards

    Nico
