PowerEdge R510 RAM Upgrade

Hello
We have R510 with two processors Xeon and 48GB of RAM. There are 6X8Go modules (3 for each CPU) A1 - A3 and B1 - B3 slots.

Original modules are P9RN2 DOUBLE IN-LINE MEMORY MODULE, 1333, and 8 GB 2RX4, 8, 240, R, LOW VOLTAGE

I want to add 16 GB (2x8GB). Our provider offered me modules from Kingston KTD-PE313E / 8G.

I can put modules there 1.5V?

See you soon,.

kejml

Hello.

The bars of origin are RDIMMs while those of Kingston KTD-PE313E / 8G show as DIMM Unbuffered (UDIMM). Dell including R510 servers do not support the mixture of double access RDIMMS. I recommend you buy modules of memory similar to the original specifications where 2xGB RDIMMs of low voltage. Here is the Dell SKU # for similar DIMMS: A6996808.

    Enzorik,

The 16 GB x 8 DIMM you mentioned here

are indeed certified replacements for the R510. They would be the DIMMs to use.

    I hope this helps.

  • PowerEdge R510 recognizes only the 32 GB of RAM (of 64Gb total)

    Hello

    I have a server poweredge R510 1 processor (Intel (r) Xeon E5630 2.53 GHz CPU)

He used to have 12Gb (3x4Gb) of ram, but I decided to do an upgrade.

    I bought these modules:

    8 x 8 GB PC3L - 10600R DDR3 1333 ECC Reg, is a total of 64 GB

Unfortunately, the system recognizes that the 32 GB.

I also tried to use only 4 modules on slots next to the empty space of the cpu, but the system didn't start because he couldn't see any ram installed.

    Can you please help?

    Thank you in advance.

Completely, absolutely, positively and definitely sure. Dell support was wrong and they should have known better.

The memory controller is on the processor, not on the system map, so without a processor memory locations cannot be used. The only way to get 64 GB of RAM with a single processor is 4x16GB. There is a lot of documentation.

Running ESXi, I don't know why you wouldn't have two processors anyway...

Can I order 8 modules with 16 GB of RAM and replace?

Thanks in advance for your help.

    Enzorik,

You can order and use the 16 GB DIMMs in the R510. You can see the directives of the population by proc on page 117 of the guide, located here. Before the memory upgrade, however, you must be certain that you have the server to update BIOS, Drac, lifecycle controllerand Raid Controller. This is to ensure that the server remains stable.

  • PowerEdge R510 Bios update FAIL

I have 2 PowerEdge R510 servers that were previously a server with a medical company, but have now been redeployed on my network to other functions.  Both need the BIOS updates.  The problem is, they both are currently at Version 1.1.4.  When I try to run the Windows BIOS update, he reported success and says it needs to restart windows in order to apply the update.  After the reboot, it does not update the bios and recharge just windows as usual.  I also tried to boot from a flash drive and run the update of the executable through BACK.  It does not have pointed out that the BIOS is not a DELL bios, R510 and it reports itself as ' - '.  Of course, it's an original DELL card motherboard/BIOS.  I need to perform this update because I would like to upgrade the processors Xeon 5650 chipset.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks in advance!

If /forceit failed, you can also try/f, or /forcetype.

    Let me know.

  • Satellite R630-13F - RAM upgrade

    Hi all

My R630 is faced with a newly added software for Photoshop (CS5 version). Whenever it is quite slow to open and try to merge the picture for the economy.

I was wondering if I can upgrade the RAM. With a very limited knowledge, I would like to know if I need to buy an additional (if there is a vacancy for it), or I need to get one to replace the old.

I think increasing the memory to 4 GB, but I was wondering if it will be enough for Photoshop. Thanks a lot for any input.

    Best wishes

    Tim

    Hey Buddy,

RAM upgrade is not a problem because it is easy and can be done in a few minutes.

Satellite R630 has Intel HM55 chipset, and the maximum capacity is 8 GB. This means that you can install 4GB module in each memory location. Also an upgrade to 4 GB is not a problem, you can keep your 2 GB module and just buy a new 2 GB module. The module DDR3-10066 part number is PA3676U-1M2G.

If you have more questions just after, again :)

  • Satellite 3000 - X 4: Question about RAM upgrade

    Hi all

I'm looking for more information on how to upgrade the RAM for my SATELLITE S3000 - X 4 (120 MB RAM, 14 GB HD I think!). Here's a little history...

This laptop is about 5 years old, and I'm hoping to speed up a bit. I don't want to buy a new computer because she usually serves my needs.

I emptied my hard drive files and unwanted programs. And I ran Jv16 Power Tools to clean the registry and minimize starts the process.

It's always a little slow and if I am considering upgrading the RAM because I think I can do this for about £50. My questions are:

What type of upgrade RAM should I look to buy? (This laptop have 2 RAM "plug-ins" or just one?)
What is the size of RAM upgrade is the maximum an S3000 - X 4 could face?
Could a novice like me to adapt to the style DIY upgrade?

Thanks for any help you can offer!

    Gabrielle

    Hi Gabrielle

He is old enough. I looked for some info, but unfortunately I n t have not found much. The device can use the 512 MB of RAM, and you can use 2 sticks of memory. I'm not 100% sure but I think you can use the module with tracking number PA3086U - 1. 25 M.

The unit is not known to me but please check the underside. On most units, you can find coverage of memory.

    Hello

If the manual indicates that only 2 GB are possible then you can move the RAM only to 2 GB (2 x 1 GB module)

    > The Toshiba also recommends that RAM has quite ridiculous prices.

Kingston modules are good quality RAM modules.
Personally I always buy good quality RAM and I never had any problems of compatibility or performance.
You can read here in the forum on the problems of compatibility as laptop RAM power not on after RAM upgrade or similar
They always uses some modules at low cost.

In general you can use the modules of DDR3 1066 MHz (PC3-8500).

    Hello

Say the user manual on the upgrade of RAM?
In general this info is always mentioned in the user manuals

But generally, must be knowing that RAM upgrade depends on the chipset.
The FSB (front side bus) chipset is important for the speed of the RAM.
If the FSB supports only 533 Mhz then your RAM modules would go max with speed 533 Mhz and RAM modules support a faster speed; That is to say to 667 Mhz.
