Practice of OCP

Good day everyone.

I intend to take the OCP test as I have already done OCA, to win the OCP I read the Sybex book Word for Word and diving deep each statement in the test database. Due to the overwhelming project office, I could not continue to read the rest of the chapters in this book (I read already 50% of this book), now when I'm back after 1 month I want to forget a little bit of what I read so far. I'm weird about this thing, it happened the same as before, is this just me or is this normal with everyone or is just an illusion. What you guys should recommend, I should repeat the whole word-by-word or just go forward with the remaining part of this book. How can I get a quick glance, a friend of mine advised me of brain dumps read the topics. But I don't think that shocks brain happen such a practice to only the selected themes. Please share your valuable thought.

You are not alone in this. The books are huge and contain an incredible amount of information. If this book were used for a class, the chapters would be divided over several months. Try to read the book in a week period can give information overload. Personally, at the time wherever I ended up one of the books in preparation, I sometimes feel like previous chapters are just a blur.

One of the things I've done in the past is to create my own set of notes that I study - write important concepts and a quick definition to help me to remember it. Once I finished reading, I would use my notes to refresh my memory of the points more likely to be tested. Generally, I'd take notes with me for the Center test. I get an hour earlier and read through them one last time before the test.

As I started to write guides to studying for exams of the Oracle, the process was formalized a little more and expanded. A disadvantage is that the result is now too big to finish in an hour.

.. .a little question for you why brain Dumps are prohibited by Oracle?

Brain dumps are "supposed" to be real test questions and answers. Study for a test with actual questions and answers for the test, it's cheating. People who are tested using materials such as it's not devaluing the value of certification for everyone who does not cheat.

What is wrong when I have finish the altoghter book and have a brain vacuum test before taking the test?

No matter if study you and then cheat or cheat without studying at all. It's still cheating. If you are unable to absorb enough information with the resources available and valid study then you must fail the test. Landfills using brain as a crutch simply invalidates the study did. If you get a question right, was it because you understand the concepts or because you remember that question and answer of the discharge? No one will know... including you.

The information that you are investigating is not brainless trivia that will never help end of life. This is basic information Oracle DBA must have to be effective in their work. If you can't hear, you shouldn't be a DBA.

  • For the developer of the OCP, is it necessary to provide hands on?

    No - the OCP-level developer certifications do not have a practical requirement.

  • If one already has 12 DBA OCP, so we cannot take OCA 12 DBA right? wouldn't this OCJA again go back

    If we are already 12 DBA OCP, then I heard that we are not allowed to take the OCA 12 DBA.

    Also this new certification OCJA looks like a designer certification, but this is a junior DBA certification.

    It seems that we would go back.

    Roger

    If we are already 12 DBA OCP, then I heard that we are not allowed to take the OCA 12 DBA.

    Ok.  If you were an 11g OCP (specifically an Oracle Database 11g Administrator Certified Professional) and had to take the exam 1Z0-060, then you would * also * hold the credential of administrator Certified Professional 12 c Oracle database.  You would not, however, the credentials of the Administrator Certified Associate of 12 c in Oracle database.  If you wish, you can take the exam 1Z0-062 and at that time you would hold all the three powers OCP 11g, 12g OCP and 12 c OCA.  The Oracle certification program does not prevent you to do this.  In fact, I hold all three certifications... but only because I took 1Z0-062 while it was in beta before I took the exam 1Z0-060.  I don't really see a point to come back and win the OCA 12 c, but you can if you wish.

    Also this new certification OCJA looks like a designer certification, but this is a junior DBA certification.

    OCJA certification is not part of the way s/n, so it's not really back going in this direction.  I agree that it is a certification that would normally be the target of the people who had not yet obtained their 12 c OCA, OCP.  I do not think that earn this certification in addition to the OCP 12 you would appear to be younger than you would without it.  That said, if you don't think the themes during the test are those that it would be worth your time to study - you already know or because they are the ones that you do not have and will not - use then further consideration is unnecessary.  I agree that it is a developer certification, and in fact, I have recommended a couple of days at Brandye they be moved to the section "database application development" the test of all the ads rather than the 'Oracle Database 12 c' section.

    I already started to focus on the examination in the creation of a study guide for it. In part I find interesting review because my assistant developer really needs to understand these issues better than it does currently.  I doubt that it is an isolated case. I also use in a real problem to find good sources of materials for a person to learn the information covered in this review. No manual Oracle do cover all of the content of the examination (Concepts covers a bit and the Guide SQL a bit).  I can't find good books on Amazon for people to point.

    In my opinion, it's a problem serious because a developer understand how to perform the tasks assigned to this review should be second nature. Because I can't find resources, I guess now they learn by practice or by mouth-to-a developer highest... who has probably learned by practice.  I remember some of the courses at the College, but that shouldn't be the only developers that newly hatched place can learn these skills.

  • How to suggest a new symbol of certification: (as OCP *), which includes certified more than professional oracle performance and tuning?

    Hello

    There are several versions Oracle has removed the requirement of performance and tuning in what concerns OCP.

    You can get a separate ECO - Oracle Certified Expert for the performance and tuning.

    However, databases there include performance and tuning in the basic DBA certification.

    I understand there is an OCP (for DBA) and a separate OCÉ (performance and tuning),

    but could it be considered as an additional symbol combining the OCP and OCE (such as OCP * or OCPE or OCP2).

    We could always get and OCP for DBA and a separate ECA for the performance and tuning.

    If there was an an additional symbol, then maybe selftest software would also create reviews of preparation for the performance and tuning.

    Perhaps more people write books on their performance and tuning of certification.

    Maybe Oracle would provide Web seminar Exam Prep for the performance and tuning.

    Thank you Roger

    If there was an an additional symbol, then maybe selftest software would also create reviews of preparation for the performance and tuning.

    Perhaps more people write books on their performance and tuning of certification.

    That hangs high hopes on a couple of letters.  The problem, however, is not perception, but the economy. Traditional publishers must sell a lot of books to make return on investment in the costs of creating a new. Until they beat X-thousand books, they are in the red. STS and transcend do not have publication costs, but they still have to pay someone (probably a very expensive one) to go through the mind-numbing task of creating a bunch of questions / answers that are enough like the real exam to be useful, but different enough to not be do not cheat. They should sell enough copies of the review of the practice of paying for that person, and then more overhead before making a profit.

    The main reason that I was able to create guides to study at the best prices is because they are printed on demand.  I don't have to recover the costs of printing a large number of copies in the hope they will sell. In addition, as I do all of the writing to editing to marketing of myself - it has no salaries to pay someone else. Despite this - I could easily do more initial money by running Oracle contract/work councils for the same number of hours that I put in my books and practice tests. I was called to joke with my wife I could do more by night shifts working underground, asking people if they want fries with that.

    The problem with an author or an editor of creating a book especially for an Oracle performance certification (say 1Z0-064 or 1Z0-117), is that there is so much work involved in this than the creation of a book of generic performance Oracle or Oracle SQL Tuning book, but the very act of this direct to the test severely limits the people who can buy it. Those who study for 1Z0 - 064 could well but a generic performance Oracle 12 c book.  However, people in the market for a book of performance 12 c but * not * intended to take certification 064 are not likely to buy this book even though she 1Z0 - 064 on the lid.

    There are not many hug of people with the knowledge and the ability to create these materials. This relatively small pool, it is there not much with the desire to do. This further reduced pool, there not much time for her - or at least of time they are willing to take more lucrative projects requiring their skills.

    Fix.  There is not currently a scheduled date for individuals with 11g as their highest certification of need to obtain a new certification.  If Oracle does not change their policy (unlikely), it will be a date in the future where it is practiced.  However, the upgrade to 11g will prolong the active life of their powers of Oracle by (I guess here) 2-3 years.

    Someone at work took the Oracle class in Chicago: Oracle 11 g new Featurers for administrators.

    I don't know what you mean by "shall take".  Once you have OCP, Oracle requires no additional training for practical requirement - even if the certifications become inactive and must be reactivated. I guess you mean that he took the class because he wanted to prepare 1Z0 - 050. Based on this issue, he now wonders if he needed to go directly to 1Z0 - 060 rather (and therefore would like to take the new features in preparation for this test review 12 c).

  • 11g OCP track (self-study is enough)?

    Salvation;

    I want to know if I pass 1Z0-051 and 1Z0-052 or 1Z0-053 through the study and practice (I have background or work Oracle) must so I am given OCP certification or is it necessary to go through the formal education of these courses... If this is the case, then please let me know training partners in Karachi in Pakistan.

    It is certainly possible study and pass the examinations by self-study.  You can get your BIN in this way. The pages below contain links to self-help material for these three exams:

    Oracle Certification Preparation: Details of the examination and preparation for 1Z0 - 051 resources

    Oracle Certification Preparation: Details of the examination and preparation for 1Z0 - 052 resources

    Oracle Certification Preparation: Details of the examination and preparation for 1Z0 - 053 resources

    However, for the OCP, a practical course is required, so you should at least take a course to get this designation of the OCP.  The course has not necessarily to be specifically directed to one of the three tests.  Several courses are options for those who already know the information tested.  Most people, however, take one of the courses specifically directed however prepare on reviews (generally 1Z0-053).  The link below contains both links to approved courses and to a page where you can search for providers allowed in your area.  You can follow the course before or after you take the exams, but the OCP is not granted until you have taken the training * and * pass his exams.

  • OCP: Question about the critical files on control and collision

    Hello

    I am currently a student at OCP certification exam 1z0-053.

    To do this, I bought the all-in-one fixed Oracle Press (http://www.mcgrawhill.ca/professional/products/9780071629188/)

    During his studies, I would like to test, to prove things and simulate the operation to get more familiar as possible with important concepts.

    The study guide covers the fact that when a critical file is damaged or lost, the proceedings will end. The critical files listed are: all copies of the controlfile, a data file that belongs to the SYSTEM table, a data file which is part of the current tablespace undo.

    As said here's the quote:

    Some of the files are important. Damage to a critical file means that the database instance will end if it is open and cannot be reopened until the damage is repaired.

    [...]

    Practically the moment where that the damage occurs, the instance will end. As always, first reaction of the DBA to an instance crashed should be to attempt a start. It will fail in NOMOUNT mode, with an error message appropriate. The alert log will show what controlfile copy is missing and also - in the section list of parameters to initialize default - controlfile how many copies there are actually is and where they are.

    A self-test at the end of the chapter, it is:

    1. loss of these files will cause a database open failed? (Choose all good answers.)

    A. a controlfile multiplex

    B. A multiplexed log file online

    C. a multiplexed log file archive

    D. an undo tablespace datafile asset

    E. a tablespace temporary assets tempfile

    F. Since the SYSAUX tablespace data file

    G. a file of data space of SYSTEM tables

    H. a data file containing the user's critical data

    [...]

    Answer:

    1. A, D and G. damage to any copy controlfile put an end to the proceedings, as damage to critical tablespaces: SYSTEM and break current tablespace.

    So, under the 11.2.0.3 when I delete or corrupt a control file copy, the instance is not crashing and the database continue to work. Alerts log is only regularly notifynig controlfile missing:

    Fri Aug 30 10:16:02 2013

    Errors in the /u01/app/oracle/diag/rdbms/ocp1/ocp1/trace/ocp1_m000_26767.trc file:

    ORA-00210: could not open the specified control file

    ORA-00202: control file: ' / u01/app/oracle/oradata/ocp1/control03.ctl'

    ORA-27041: could not open the file

    Linux-x86_64 error: 2: no such file or directory

    Additional information: 3

    I'm not really knowledge.

    I have to stick to what is said in the book or the experienced facts?

    Thank you

    Bruno

    The information contained in the Guide of the exam are not correct as written.  The Oracle instance would end on the loss of a single control file.  Oracle documentation on the management of the control files is here:

    Management of control files

    It says: "If a control file is damaged due to a disk failure, the associated instance should be stopped. Once the drive is repaired, damaged control file can be restored using the intact copy of the control of the other disk file and the instance can be restarted. »

    "Stop" means that the instance has become unstable.  Unstable case act differently depending on the situation this way, the book is not (cannot) document the specific behavior that may occur.  While the loss of a control file means that the DBA should be abandoned to the instance, it is a very different thing from the instance to the destination of its own.

    The ultimate source is always the Oracle documentation. I checked the page of errata for this book to McGraw-Hill.  I only see an extra.  Submit this to them and get your name on the page as a contributor.

  • Req: Clarification of certain scenarios wrt retirement DBA OCP 9i wrt training:

    I can see the the retired OCP DBA 9i will probably come to a shock to some people one started and not completed this certification.
    (https://blogs.oracle.com/certification/entry/0864_01)

    While most have removed at the door; others may have had a reason including for reasons of family, work or illness that have stalled their progress. I am also of the belief in a substantial amount of cheating probably occurred on this track, although there are probably some real DBA practitioners who may be trapped.

    The OCP DBA 9i is obviously obsolete; the only practical value is really for people to be able to upgrade to 11 g/12 c OCP DBA via 1z0-055(+1z0-060) without additional authorized training, which may be a cost for some reason if the employer will not pay for their training.

    The situation of the person who has failed an exam 1z0-007(or alt)/1z0-031/032/033 by date (July 31, 2013) retirement is completely clear. They will not receive any OCP DBA 9i. Never.

    However I can think of two situations that may be less clear where the training was not registered before July 31, 2013: (and also a situation of merger id).

    Case 1:
    ~~~~~
    Myfanwy has completed a training course of 9i WDP authorized in July 2009.
    She spent her exams 1z0-007/031/032/033 for the remainder of 2009; and duly received her DBA OCA 9i certification.
    ... She however has not presented his training for verification and therefore is not and has not received an OCP DBA 9i.
    Let's say 30 September 2013 (after retirement from July 31, 2013) she finally gets round to submit (or trying to) its training for verification
    ...... It will be accepted and she be assigned a DBA OCP 9i or she left it too late? (the key point that during his training, was
    retirement planning its audit of training (which is considered a pseudo review) was submitted post retirement).
    Case 2:
    ~~~~~

    Rhys self studied and passed his exams 1z0-007/031/032/033 in 2010; and duly received her DBA OCA 9i certification.
    Rhys found a job as a DBA to Portmeirion, but has been unable to escape to complete the approved training.
    As Rhys has never had any training permitted, it was not and did not receive an OCP DBA 9i.

    In August 2013 Rhys has finally managed to attend a 12 c Database what's new in the course as OU (the general principle is a suitable 10g / 11g OCP DBA internship can be used instead a 9i course so is reasonable such a course of 12 c would be acceptable.) (Usually OK if training version > = version of the certification and no significant changes in the database product (for example, the OAS to WLS)).

    On September 13, 2013 Rhys claims (or trys to submit) training (which was taken after July 31, 2013) for verification...
    ...... It will be accepted and it will be awarded an OCP DBA 9i or that he has left it too late?

    Case 3: (merger of id):
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Dilbert has completed a training course of 9i WDP authorized in July 2009.
    He passed his exams 1z0-007/031 in the rest of 2009 under Oracle test ID OC123456 and received 9i DBA OCA;
    and also submitted its 9i WDP internship approved wrt OCP DBA 9i.
    In 2010 he spent 1z0-032 and 1z0-033 exam under Oracle test ID WC987645
    Because exams have been taken under different Id test Oracle he was not and did not receive an OCP DBA 9i.
    Let's say that on 30 September 2013 (after July 31, 2013) Dilbert realizes that reviews have been conducted at different Id
    A DBA OCP 9i will receive after the merger, even if this certification is no longer available?
    ############
    My suspicion is that oracle will not be of certifications for cases (1) and (2); but probably for (3). So it may be mandatory candidates get their training record and check on certview that their reviews and approved training are saved as they expected, and that Oracle take measures to encourage the candidates to do so.
    Please also note that the more general case of suggestions about what to do if you have partially completed onl this certification track are discussed on {: identifier of the thread = 2512700}
    Published by: bigdelboy on March 19, 2013 14:34 obviously anyone affected please response of wheel, Brandye below, which may be good news to someone somewhere!
    In fact, certification would be granted to all candidates. The exams retire and technically the certification paths are retiring, but and the stages of certification do not retire. That sounds a bit confusing, but if last step a candidate for certification 9i is a step that his retirement (as a training course, or the form of course), then delivers us a certification if they perform this step. If all your scenarios will lead to certification yet.
    Gerard
    More I noticed the following kinde e-book:
    http://www.cxguide.NET/ - The Expert Guide concise PL/SQL... which may have some relevance. It is available on the kindle on Amazon (UK / US) ... I am not available for all countries.
    ... I guess it's safe certification and use the original material
    .... He saw there of PDF documents at the website of the author above. IMHO style is folk and talkative possilby which may not be suitable for some people (although it comes to the introduction). ' (Funnell (August 6, 2011))'
    It claims to cover all topics of certification 1z0-146.
    .... What follows is a little off line and in my humble OPINION and poster not really useful for the original, (these its useful for me to return to answer the other questions).
    1Z0 - 146... not relating to the PDF preview he suggested another book to learn the PL/SQL... which seems critical on amazon like new with a 'style talkative'... which seems to have worked for some people and not for others. (Starting from PL/SQL: from novice to professional (voice of the Expert in Oracle) ISBN-13: 978 - 1590598825)
    (To give a bit of background here, only the last piece is relevant; I am an OCA PL/SQL, but I have never round up there OCP PL/SQL. I just spent my LPIC-2 201... but estimate that I have to put in a litte more than efforts I want to commit to spend my LPIC-2-202, that I would right now... and I would be favorable to leave it for a few months and also to focus first. In any case a review of here where I am today indicates a PL/SQL OCP pourrait have more synergy with my goals in the short term and less than the gap a few other certifications I could go (and I didn't like this a month or even a week or even two days ago). And Matthew references above are of course useful. ..... To get point I am undecided on a cost/risk/benefit is that the above work by Funnell adds value to me).
    Published by: bigdelboy on January 22, 2013 01:27 - I bought and skim The Guide concise Expert PL/SQL. And I like it and think it's good value / price for me. The key point is that it is safe certification. It does not directly reference 1z0 - 146 topics, but it does not seem to cover most of the land. In the body of the book after the first chapter, the style was much less folk that I feared. He seemed to give some good advice and tips and and took note of certain behaviors that may not be as you would expect... the kind of thing that could take one in a review. I could see some people love it. (No doubt will have another set of people who find useless). This is not a complete or necessarily accurate review, but it's just to say that I see a number of candidates 1z0-146 (and even practitioners of PL/SQL) find it useful.
  • OCP
    Hello
    I recently finished,
    1 oracle SQL Expert certified and
    2. oracle Certified Associate Developer PL/SQL (OCA).
    I gave these exams for Oracle 10 g.
    Now, I have to give exams for OCP in Advanced PL/SQL for Oracle 10 g. But there is no such review for Oracle 10 g.
    So should I give the exam for OCP (Advanced PL/SQL) for Oracle 11 g?
    There is no hands on course requirement for the Advanced PL/SQL certification, only 3 trials to:
    (same link as above) - http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=155
    For the certifications that requires no practical courses, they list on the page of certification path, like this (for the DBA track):
  • OCP 1Z0-141 required or suggested training
    Hello
    In the OCP developer track, there are "Recommended training and preparation" section I took the physical classes. What I was wondering if the 'cultural' classes are "recommended" or "necessary." If they are needed, it would make a difference in my calendar for the test.
    Thank you
    Don.
    The obvious reference to the review is: [http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=41&p_org_id=1001&lang=US&p_exam_id=1Z0_141] and I can see the link you are referring to the existence.
    At the end of the day, you are required to be able to answer questions about the course subjects (interpretation what is really these can sometimes be difficult).
    I would advise that you attempt an analysis of the gap between the questions and your current knowledge.
    If it turns then to try the e-course fills in the gaps nicely in a cost-effective manner so great.
    These shoild online courses increase your knowledge in any case.
    Suite otherwise your gap if you think that Kaplan IT practical tests are a wise investment if you feel that you need more certainty about the form that could take the questions and make sure that you have studied and include enough subjects. (see: [http://www.oracle.com/global/us/education/certification/sts.html])
    No training for the associated certification is required... but some is recommended etc..
  • 10G Confirmation of Passes the necessary review for OCA and OCP
    Hello
    My apologies if this was asked in another thread.
    In order to be allowed to win 10 G OCP I must pass these exams in the following order:
    1Z0 - 042 and one of these (1Z0-007, 1Z0-047, 1Z0 - 051) to win the OCA first, then 1Z0-043(plus course).
    I passed 1Z0-042 and I was keen to study for 1Z0 - 043 then. I learned that before I can sit 1Z0 - 043, I would need to fill out one of these first (1Z0-007, 1Z0-051 and 1Z0-047).
    Please confirm the right course of action for me.
    Thank you
    You can take the exams in any order you like. So, if you want to 1z0-043 then (1z0-007/047/051) as you seem to want to do you can.
    If you seem to have been said misinformation... however...
    0) If you have passed 1z0-042 long, dec 2008 memory, you don't have to do a review of SQL. Certview will show your exemption if you are exempt. And you will already be a DBA OCA 10 g.
    (1) it is IMHO probably far much more sense do 1z0-051 and 1z0 - 007 before continuing with 1z0-043.
    -It's because passing a SQL you will win (with you pass 1z0-042) a DBA OCA 10 g. ... and also because good SQL will help with your practice of the Oracle and your study of OCP.
    ---(Une exception pourrait être si yu juste assisté à une mains sur parcours et souhaite étudier pour tirer de l'examen 1z0-043 dès que possible après le cours).
    Thinking is important for you to have planned to participate in a hand that is appropriate on the course for your 10g OCP DBA... his time thinking that if your haven't already.
