  • Can satellite A100-847 - I replace my current HARD drive with a SATA2 HARD drive?

    Hello

I am currently using a Satellite A100-847 with a 100 GB SATA 5400 RPM HARD drive. I plan to change with a Western Digital WD2500BEKT 250 GB SATA2 16 MB 2.5 inch laptop hard drive 7200 TRM. Is it possible to replace my current HARD drive which is SATA with a one SATA2?

And if not what is my best option upgrade of the mine to a HARD fast (7200 RPM) disc?

    Hello!

Yes, you can replace the current drive with a SATA2 HARD disk. You already have a SATA interface, and this means that you can use each HDD with SATA interface.

I don't know Mr. but as far as I know the Satellite A100 cannot use the speed of SATA1. This means that the new HARD drive maybe won't work with SATA1 speed but there is no significant difference in performance.

A HARD drive with 7200 RPM is really fast, but don t forget it produces more heat and needs more electric battery. A HARD disk at 5400 RPM is perhaps fast enough for you?

  • 6710 b: HP Compaq 6710 b HARD drive upgrade

I want to update my HDD 6710 b and mount a HDD more big gig either 500 or 1 TB.

My current HARD drive is only 120 gig I was wondering if their was a reason why I could not do that?  for example the card mother and other material would allow for such a big HARD disk?

You seamlessly from that I'm not an expert on computers and any help would be graciously accepted - don't want to buy a new HARD drive and find it does not work!

    Thank you very much.

Acronis True Image Home 2014 and a usb to SATA cable works every time for me. Use the proportional resize option for the partitions.

  • HP elitebook 8570w: advise the hard drive upgrade

    Hello

Recently, my hard drive stopped with the work. I have a HP elitebook 8570w. The current hard drive that had a 7200 RPM. Now, I noticed my laptop starts heating fast enough. I was wondering what hard drive, I could choose to prevent this from happening so fast.

Should I choose a SSD driver?

They are faster than a HARD drive?
They produce less heat, less power?

Should I choose a hard disk of variable?
I read that they are mainly used for NAS servers, would also be a good choice for a laptop?

I am looking for a new drive hard and then I'm picking why take an upgrade.

I hope you can answer my question and may have a few speculative.

    Thanks in advance

SATA 300 is SATA II SATA 150 SATA-I and SATA 600 is SATA-III.

Do not place too much emphasis on the difference. A SSD SATA-III is compatible with any computer laptop SATA version.

  • HP 6470 b 2nd hard drive upgrade. How fast this port works on? SATA I, II or III

HP 6470 b 2nd hard drive upgrade. How fast this port works on? SATA I, II or III

I want to put in a 60 GB SSD into the CD slot and want to see how fast it will support as this will be used for the Cache

    Thank you

The published information is not explicit; He says only: SATA for the expansion Bay while the main hard drive Bay expressly says SATA-III. However, given that this isn't just an optical drive Bay, but also a general 'Bay expansion', it is safe to assume it of on the same SATA bus as main drive and is a SATA III interface.

    Data sheet

6470b is also supposed to have a slot for a WSSD mSATA, but he is not described in the Manual:

    Manual

Obviously the WSSD would work better for cache but you can use a 60 gig SSD in an expansion bay for both cache adapter. Even if the connection is SATA-II, it will be much faster to work for a cache of acceleration.

  • M9452p hard drive upgrade

Right now I have a default installed HP Hitachi SATAII HDS721075KLA330 hard drive (750 GB).  I would like to know if there are limits to what an hd upgrade might be?  I am thinking for example a 64 MB/s 2 to disk 7200 RPM.

    Hi but,

A 2 TB HARD drive replacement is compatible with your operating system.

However, pouvez have you a problem using the HP recovery discs to reinstall the original HP image, please see here.

    A workaround is available.

You can download a Win Vista. ISO, burn it to disc and install on new HARD drive. You will then need to install the drivers from technical support of your site PC. You may also Activate Windows by using the product key on the COA sticker affixed to your PC.

If your current HARD drive is in use, you can also copy C:\SWSETUP content on an external drive. This folder contains the drivers and the software currently installed on your PC. This will avoid to download the drivers of your PC to the HP support site.

  • Satellite A50-111 - HARD drive upgrade

    Hello!

I need to upgrade hard drive of my laptop because it is very slow. However, I know it's a 60 GB to factory-installed 4200 RPM.
I'm ready to be upgraded to a fast 7200 RPM, if possible, with a decent capacity, but I'm not sure of the supported hard drive type (IDE?, 2.5?) is a model of 5 years. In my view, there are incompatibilities with the laptops today, hard drive formats, so I really need help.
Thank you very much for your help!

    Hey Buddy,

In my opinion the HARD drive upgrade will not increase performance well then you should try the other options first as reinstalling Windows, or upgrade the RAM.

Anyway, Satellite A50 use IDE interface, so you can use hard disks of 120 GB of disk space.
Of course, you can take a model at 7200 RPM, but they need more energy and produce more noise.
    I recommend a 120 GB 5400 RPM model. That s pretty fast!

are there restrictions on the type of hard drive that you can on this model?

    Type of the ATA

I was watching a Seagate Momentus 5400.3 ST980815A, if this helps answer the question.

    Hello

I found the info your device comes with 40 GB IDE (ATA - 5) HARD drive. I think in your case, to capacity. High-capacity hard drives are not recognized properly, but I think that with 60 or 80 GB HDD should perhaps be recognized correctly.

If anyone on this forum can give you accurate information, I recommend you contact your local dealer or service in your country. They are experts upgrade material and they have accurate info on HARD drive upgrade.

    Good luck!

Thank you very much.  After a discussion at CompUSA, they decided to try another HD concert 160 instead of 250. Wallah... OS began the installation of restore disc program.  It is a problem with the new hard drive.

Help a what to do CompUSA actually tech the problem finally.

  • I'll do a clean install on a blank hard drive upgrade but want to keep my Firefox settings - what is the best way to do this?

I'll do an upgrade from Windows XP to Windows 7. I will be installing Windows 7 on a new empty hard drive. I want to keep my bookmarks Firefox and Ad Ons. What is the best way to do it. Thank you for your help.

    Hello

The best thing for you to do is to make a backup of your Firefox profile. It is a folder that stores bookmarks and Add-ons that you can then add to the reinstalled Firefox on your new operating system.

Learn you more about the Firefox profile folder, how to backup and restore, here.

I hope this helps, but if not, please come back here and we can look at in another option for you.

  • HP ENVY 15 t-j100 Quad Edition: upgrade of the current HARD drive

I have HP ENVY 15 t-j100 Quad Edition laptop which currently has a 1 to 5400 RPM HARD drive. I'm looking to upgrade to SSD drive and need help with the following responses

    (1) the laptop does support more than 512 GB since the laptop computer maintenance document lists (and does not) support max 512 GB

    (2) any 2.5 SATA 3 SSD should work with the configuration given my laptop as long as its not more than 9.5 mm thick. Please confirm.

I was chatting and asking for a response for the last month 1 HP support and I have not received a positive response. Forums suggest that capacity any no where like the cat and people on HP customer service gave the following answer.

The manual list only up to 512 GB because that's all there was when the laptop was sold or just would not be a market for the 1 TB SSD. Not too long ago, they were $7-800 and beyond almost anyone means. But there is no reason that your laptop can not run a 1 TB SSD. Also, you are right. All SATA 2.5 inch wide SSD will work as long as it's not more than 9.5 mm thick. These days, almost all of them are 7 mm. I would recommend a Samsung 850 Evo but there are a lot of good ones out there. We had a set of trouble on the series MX Crucial reports, however.
