pressing the key "w" lance programs that I don't want to open.

Whenever I hit the "w" key on my keyboard, it opens the programs that I don't want to not open.  ITunes, internet explore etc. open up and stop what ever I am working.  It is a real headache when I work on word documents.  How can I stop this?

Hi WSGP.

Thank you for using Vista answers Forum.

This only occurs in Microsoft Word?
You press another key at the same time with the key "w"?
Are you using any character language alternative cards?

I suggest all first update your antivirus software and do a full scan of your computer.

I suggest then perform a clean boot to isolate startup programs that can cause this problem.
Here is an article on how to do it:

Try your action to see if the problem is resolved.

What I would do, my computer has so many unwanted programs, is to reinstall Vista and not all HP programs that I don't want.  It seems to make the computer too slow.  I don't have a Vista disc, only the recovery CD I did in the beginning. Can I recover and just reinstall Vista, or should I get back it?
    Thank you
    Bill

    original title: recovery

If your "Vista recovery disc" is provided by the manufacturer of your computer, be it Dell, Gateway, Hewlett-Packard, etc... Then chances are he's doing a thing. Completely format your hard drive and restores your computer to the day you brought it home. It's a major nuisance for many people these days, as if you have an error and Windows says 'Please insert the Vista CD to fix it Windows' well, you do not HAVE the CD to correct the error. Your only option is a complete erasure of all data.

So, my advice is to avoid ever NEED to use the recovery CD, and if you don't... hope you have backups of your important data (which is another thing, backup your important data often!).

  • How to stop the notices for a download, that I DON'T WANT?

The last time I downloaded an update, my computer would not work properly and crashed several times. I have a better than average anti-virus program and I don't want your update and I'm tired of seeing reviews for him pop up! I can always go back to IE if you do not want my patronage.

There are some add-ons that torment you with update of fake messages that lead to malware or other problems. Please take a look at your page of modules and disable all non-essential or unrecognized modules on these two tabs:

Firefox orange (or the Tools menu) button > addons > Plugins category

Firefox orange (or the Tools menu) button > addons > Extensions category

Typically, a link will appear above at least an extension disabled to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links in the last step.

To adjust own Firefox update settings, see this article: Advanced panel - accessibility, navigation, network, updates and other settings in advanced Firefox.

Hi TommieZook, I see that this is your first post here.  Welcome to our community!

As for your question, there are few parameters that you might need to check.  #1 is the most likely:

    1. Power settings for your screen
Press + W to find settings, and then type power to find and open Power Options.  On the left, click "choose when turn off the display" and set the timer accordingly.
    2. Sleep for your PC settings
On the same page of the Power Options, click 'choose when the computer sleeps' to set the timer as well.
    3. Screen saver
Windows 8 is not the screensaver on initially, but you can see these settings too.  For easy access, go to the desktop and right click, then choose Customize.  Choose screensaver downstairs and make sure that the setting of the timer is to your liking.
  • HP 15.6 laptop Smart Touch: cannot move my mouse while pressing the keys

Hello, I play a lot of games on my laptop and most of them need to press the keys on the laptop, while simultaneously using the mouse pad. For some reason any, whenever I use the mouse keys crashes until I'm removing my hand from the key. Is any way to stop this?

    Jayblazing, welcome to the forum.

I am not sure that would cause your problem.  However, I would like to recommend that you try to use a USB mouse for games.

As you can see in my signature below, I have a laptop HP Omen's game.  I use a Microsoft Wireless Mobile Mouse 3500 with her.  It is not the absolute solution, but it is easier to use the touchpad.  At least, for me.

    Hello Gerome

You have activated the NumLock feature on your system. From what I found on Acer and by turning off NumLock, you need to hold the function key 'Fn' correspondent and press the "F11". This should disable NumLock and the keys to normal. If this is not the case, look at your keyboard until you find a key with a symbol that has a number and a lock. Press and hold the function key and press the key.

Just recently, I discovered that when I press the keys 'w' and 'space' at the same time, one or the other does not.

It is a huge problem for me because I'm in the game. I did a little online research and came across the term "ghost image". It seems that the only solution to this problem is to get a new keyboard. I came here to see if there are other solutions to this other than buying a new keyboard.

If I had to buy a new keyboard, how it would work for a laptop? I connected via usb or to replace the one that currently, I built do they buy?

    Thanks in advance

    Hey AndyZ1000,

Unfortunately, it is a hardware limitation. This has to do with the way the keys are arranged in tables. Here are a few links that explain it well.

How can battery Exchange - I remove the limit on the PC keyboard keys?

    Microsoft - keyboard ghosts explained

I would recommend to get an external USB keyboard that has bearing N - key (NKRO). Some keyboards "gamer" can be a bit expensive. If I had to get a new keyboard, I go to a store and find the one that says NKRO on the box and remove and test it. If not that, then I would check on the return policy for mixed open-box keyboards and test at home on the games you play with that.

I hope this information helps! Let me know what you decide to do and the results!

  • Aspire V3 - 771g - Tap/left click on delay after pressing the keys on the keyboard (some keys only)

It is a strange problem that I have, I got the laptop computer now for a month or two, and I'm sure it makes it I got it. The problem is pretty much the title. I can't press the letters or numbers and then left click without a 1 second or so delay, I also can not left click at all if I hold down without letting go of taken, once I do the delay still occurs. I can press the keys of arrows then left click without thin delay (where left-click is delayed / disabled right click still works.) I know that the clicks get detected as the tray icon still points out the tactile/left button when it is used.

Some information that may be required. The driver is more recent than the one on the download section for this laptop, but I had tried both and still happens. (Also tried uninstalling both and using the default Microsoft drivers but still no luck.) Keyboard supplied with no driver and no listed on downloads. Also, "Rejection of TP" is already disabled.

Come here for some reason that I can't edit the first post.

I decided that I was going to send my laptop for repairs that my arrow began to act ladle which meant that I could hardly play a game at all. I thought as a last attempt I would completely reset my computer using restore integrated Windows 8 and it worked. I can now use the keyboard and click at the same time. Although the up arrow is still a little shady, I'm happy. I thought that I would be post that incase someone else had made this experience so that they can try and so know that it worked for someone else, if you've had the experience and it does not work so good luck to find a solution.

Update - I've narrowed it down, the problem is Windows 8.1 Overview. (Which is in beta so problems are expected). If you are considering upgrading to windows windows 8.1 8 with this model of laptop, I would strongly suggest against it.

    Hello
    When exactly the problem occur?

Follow the steps below and check if that helps.

    Step 1:

Test the issue in safe mode and check if the keyboard is blocked.

    Step 2:

If your computer very well in Safe Mode functions, you can put your system to boot and check if any third party or any service application is causing the problem and therefore the computer to freeze.

Put your boot system helps determine if third-party applications or startup items are causing the problem. If so, you can go ahead and disable or uninstall the same.

Once the system is in a clean boot state, check if the computer continues to block or not.

  • His passport No. blackBerry when press the keys of the physical keyboard

Hello! By clicking on the physical keyboard of the keys on my Blacberry Passport no sound (tone) as when you press the keys (numbers, symbols,...). And how are you? What could be the problem? Is there a sound when you press the physical keys?

    Hi @SPBU

By design, audible "tapping noise" happen when you press the physical keys.

Audible noise happen when you use the virtual keyboard. Thank you!

  • Autofocus TextField when the user presses the keys (and possible race condition)

Someone tried to implement a device by which a TextField (or text box, I guess) automatically gets the focus when a user starts to type anything? It is very convenient to have something, at least with a phone model Qwerty, in certain situations. (A use case is where a list that is too long for the useful shortcuts, but the TextField object is used to implement a filtering mechanism that can reduce the data set to a reasonable size, and the user can then scroll just to find a target element).

I've set up something using a KeyListener (calling requestFocus() for the TextField object) attached to the container Page, but there are problems with it.

It's a question that the first keystroke does not render in the TextField object, since it has not a focus when the key was first struck.

To solve that you can enter the key (event.unicode) and that insert into the TextField object, and then the following keys go on the field you want... but there is also a problem with that.

If you type two or three buttons in quick succession, probably less than 50ms between them, you can see that even if the KeyListener gets each of them, the TextField object receives the second or, sometimes, the third, even if you can check that by the time second keyPressed/output signal arrives in your earpiece the TextField claims to have developed (TextField.focused is true).

This seems like a bug, but maybe it's just a case of corner cascading who is inevitable, given its design... I'm not sure.

If anyone can reproduce it, thanks for posting here. I'll do a test case to prove and will report it as a bug if you do.

If anyone has a reliable and quality approach, please post here too! :-)

P.S. for a good laugh, a code here that I did for my particular case, which seeks to avoid the race condition. As you can see, this is a great hack, but it works 100% reliable for me so far with a fairly comprehensive test (including the tests with the movement of the cursor, copy/paste, etc.). It's too complicated to analyze and ensure that it is really robust, however, but feel free to use... If you care enough. ;-)  http://pastebin.com/r2VUtPJC

Have you tried setting the primaryKeyTarget it's inputRoute?

    https://developer.BlackBerry.com/native/reference/Cascades/bb__cascades__inputrouteproperties.html

Has been added to the 10.1, which should do what you want.

You can also achieve the same messing around with pre FocusPolicy 10.1, but it is much simpler.

    It could be accessibility features:

    1. Press + u to open the utilities to facilitate access.
    2. Scroll down and click on "make the keyboard easier to use".
    3. Uncheck all the boxes
