Prevent the restart of Windows 8

Windows 8 comes from the reboot to install the updates, and I couldn't do anything. As a result, I lost a ton of data. How can I avoid this until I can get a different OS?

Greetings

Hello

Thanks for posting your question in the Microsoft Community.

I'm sorry you had to suffer a loss of data due to the unwanted reboot after that windows updates have been installed.

Normally we will be informed if we need to restart the PC to complete the installation of updates, and we will have the choice to restart immediately or postpone the reboot. If we are away from our PC for an extended period of time, Windows will automatically restart your PC to complete the installation of updates.

  • How can I recover from a corrupted registry that prevents the start of Windows XP OEM version?

Turned on my Dell PC today to find wonderful "Windows XP could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM"message. "  I have a Dell 8400 which had pre-installed XP Prof. when I bought it.  I found the MS page that deals with the issue of the file, but they cite... "Do not use the procedure that is described in this article if your computer has an OEM operating system installed." http://support.microsoft.com/kb/307545 ... but gave no alternative instructions if you do.  ????

How someone does solve this problem if they have an OEM operating system and do not want delete or lose the data they had on the hard drive?

I tried to go in safe mode to see if I could get a restore, but failed to go beyond the Dell BIOS screen.
I tried Dell support does site... no help.  Just a page to list the errors and buttons for your favorite web search gee thanxs engines.

    Help!

You can always make use of KB307545, if you start your computer from a CD with a system.  I find that free Linux Livecd such as Knoppix or Ubuntu works well for this purpose (if you use Ubuntu, make sure you have not install; instead of this, use the option "Try Me").  You download an .iso file and use the "Burn Image" of your burning program CD to create a CD bootable on another machine and then use this system to perform the steps of KB307545.  Linux has the advantage of protections on the folder "System Volume Information" don't get in the way and where you need to back up your system (before reinstalling Windows), it doesn't have the path of 256 byte limit that has Windows.

After booting from the Live CD of Linux, start KB307545 of part 2, step 6.  You will use Linux to move, copy and delete files instead of command line commands, but you should be able to find a way to do it.  You won't have to restart between part 2 and part 3, but you need to remove the CD and reboot after completing part 3.  Make sure you complete part 4.

If things are really bad, you can use the Live CD as a system for access to your files and back up an external hard drive, USB or network before you reinstall Windows.

  • Data Execution Prevention (DEP) prevents the update of Windows running?

I know that you can turn off DEP for specific programs, but when I tried to do this with Windows Update I got a pop-up that said "this program must run with Data Execution Prevention enabled. You can't turn off DEP for this program. "So how I turn off DEP, or circumvent this rule to update Windows in need of DEP?

    Hello

    1. who is the antivirus installed on the computer program?

    2. Once you get this error message?

    3. have you installed Service Pack 2 on the computer?
Data Execution Prevention (DEP) is a security feature that protects against viruses and other security threats by analyzing your programs to make sure that they use the system safely memory.
If a program does not run correctly when DEP is enabled, check for a compatible version of the DEP program or an update from the software publisher before you change your DEP settings.

  • How to prevent the addition of Windows keyboard layouts?

I have three provisions of the installed keyboard - Polish (programmers), English (United Kingdom) and (IME) Japanese - and until a recent date, everything has been fine.

At some point, however, I noticed that the English (United States) provision has been added to my system. My together local is defined in the United Kingdom and English (American) is not yet on the list of languages (not even as a layout - which is weird). I have add and then delete to get rid of him, only to see him come back after a reboot or ten - odd hours.
I am currently unable to determine the exact cause of this behavior. Currently I can only keep removing the unnecessary disposal over and over again. Is there a way to remove it and prevent it from be added? Someone has even had a similar problem and found a solution?

If you have your windows updates the value automatically download and install has already been download and little is forced to restart your system and the installation starts.  You can cancel the installation at this time, but I wouldn't.  It can brick your machine.

If you really see a message about "acro32.exe" is probably malware you should scan your computer with the virus eset online scanner and then download, update and run the free version of MalwareBytes AntiMalware.

    Original title: someone help please?

Working on my old computer, a pentium 4, card mother GA81PE1000, I continued to have this message flashing on the screen "ERROR of LOADING of THE OPERATING SYSTEM" after the restart when loading the software Window XP. After so many years, working on the construction of computer & repair, it's new to me.

So I checked the Microsoft Website for answers from people with the same problem in the past and apply their suggestions, nothing works... hard drive replaced, the changed value in the bios, did everything possible, still nothing works, phenomenal for me, please help me find an answer, thank you?

    Hello

    1. have you made changes on the computer before this problem?
2 - what you want to say that you receive this error message during the installation of Windows XP?

Check to see if the following is useful.

Method 1: Disconnect all devices non-essential connected to the computer and restart. Check to see if it boots normally.

Method 2: You may need to check the settings of the BIOS (Basic Input\Output System). Check if the hard drive is detected. If this is not the case, check the physical connections. Refer to the manual to check the same.

    Warning of the BIOS:

BIOS change / semiconductor (CMOS) to complementary metal oxide settings can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the configuration of the BIOS/CMOS settings can be solved. Changes to settings are at your own risk.

What should I do to configure my windows firewall to allow network discovery and file sharing of printers and media streaming and sharing?

    Hi stephanie,.

Thanks for joining us out on Microsoft Community Forums.

Looks like the Windows firewall prevents the discovery network, files and printers, sharing, public sharing of files and streaming media. We will analyze and identify the cause of the problem.

You have a third-party antivirus installed on the computer program?

    Method 1:

    To turn on network discovery

    1. Open advanced sharing settings by clicking the Start button, then Control Panel. In the search box, type network, click Network and sharing Center, and then, in the left pane, click on change settings for sharing advanced.
    2. click on the chevron to expand the current network profile.
    3. click turn on network discovery and then click on save changes. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide
    confirmation.

The article below explains all about the network discovery:
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/enable-or-disable-network-discovery

If any of these responses not solve the issue, let us then run the sfc scan and check if any file system is corrupt. I also recommend to perform a clean boot in order to find the root cause of the problem.

    Method 2:

Use the (SFC.exe) System File Checker tool to determine which file is causing the problem and then replace the file. To do this, follow these steps:

    a. open an elevated command prompt. To do this, click Start, click programs, accessories principally made, right-click Guest, and then click Run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click on allow.

    b. type the following command and press ENTER:
    sfc/scannow

The sfc/scannow command. analyzes all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with appropriate Microsoft versions.

More information on SFC scan found in this document:
