Print from Win7 on XP network

I have a new laptop Windows7, my office is an old Windows XP based system.  I would like to print from my laptop using the printer on the XP.  The printer is a HP 8250 in very good condition. The printer is set up for sharing, but what else to do to achieve this?  My printer is on my XP computer.  What other settings should I set?

Thank you

You'll need to download/install driver Windows 7 for HP 8250 printer before you connect to the printer.  To do this, go to www.hp.com, simply click on "Support/Drivers" and then select "Download drivers and software.  Enter "Photosmart 8250" in the product window, and then click 'Go '.  Continue to download the driver and install it on your Windows 7 machine.  If the driver does not install the printer as part of the driver installation, you may need to go to "start-> devices and printers-> add a printer."

Our officejet 6000 won't print from a computer on the network. All 3 computers running Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium edition. The computer we have problems printing used to be able to print to the Officejet 6000, but now he can't.  In devices and printers, it says that the printer is connected, but I can't print a Test Page.  However, if I run the HP Solution Center, it says that the printer is connected and I can go to the Toolbox of the printer and print a printer status report.  The 2 other computers on our network have no problem printing of pages to document and test.  Why would a printer are struggling to print documents and test pages, but be able to print the printer status report?

It's just a problem of connection and communication. The computer and the printer can be on different ports or IP addresses. Here's a link below that can help solve this problem.

  • Problems printing from laptop to wireless network

I've had problems for months now print wirelessly from my laptop to my printer. I use a HP OfficeJet 6700 Premium, and my laptop is a Lenovo. When I click on print a document, I get a warning on my laptop that the driver for the printer is offline. I tried to restart my laptop, disconnect and reconnect to the internet, restarting printer, disconnect and reconnect it to the internet, uninstalling and reinstalling the printer (using the existing driver and replace). Sometimes one of these 'corrections' works, other times not. Tonight I tried to restart the two, reconnect the two and then uninstalled and am trying to reinstall it but my laptop cannot find the printer to install it.

I am at a total loss. I work from home, sometimes and I bought a wireless printer for the convenience that he cannot stand on my desk next to my laptop to connect to the computer. (Also don't know what happened to the cord for the printer on the laptop, presumingI got with the printer.)

Both devices say they are connected to the internet. I can test my laptop and the internet connection works fine, don't know how to test the connection of the printer, but it says connected and has an IP etc.

I also tried disconnecting everything but the computer laptop and wireless network printer, and it won't always connect to print.

Can anyone offer any fixes? This becomes incredibly frustrating when I sit down to work and fight with the printer for hours.

    Thanks in advance.

Hello KitchenTalesand welcome to the Forums of HP, I hope you enjoy your experience!

I see that you have connectivity problems.  I would like to help.

I recommend you to perform a power reset. Unplug the power cord from the printer and the power outlet, then wait 60 seconds. After 60 seconds, plug back in the printer. Make sure that you connect the printer directly to a wall outlet. Make sure to bypass any surge protector or power bar.

Once the reset is complete, I recommend you to unplug your router for 60 seconds, and reconnect power.

After the restart appropriate time, I would recommend using this document on troubleshooting wireless printing Center.

Good luck and please let me know the results of your troubleshooting operations. Thanks for posting on the HP Forums!

  • Printing to a printer from a virtual computer network

I hope I'm not too much of an easy situation, but is there a FAQ thread for printing on a network from a virtual computer printer please?

I just spent an hour setting up a network printer in a VM with forward gun they realized that, then my network is 192.168.1.1, (the printer is 192.168.1.113 and side Mac can see another printer on the network) virtual machine network seems to reside at 192.168.236.2

Canon has a process of installing network printers, but he can't see the network printer when he's looking for printers.

They say that my computer is not on the same network where the printer is located.

You're running bridged or NAT networking?

  • Cannot print from my laptop to network HP CP1515n printer

    Hello

in our office, we have an HP CP1515n printer on the network set to a static ip address. Everyone but me can print on it, so I guess that the printer is properly configured. Even I was able to print on it until a few weeks before. I have not remmember change anything specifically.

I tried to reinstall the drivers and everything looks allright:

I tried to run HP print and Scan doctor and he says any abstract very well:

But when I try to print the test page, it does not print. I noticed that printing window says the printer is out of paper, but it is not and I do not understand this message on other computers:

Any help would be really appreciated!

    Best regards, Luka

I found the answer almost as soon as I posted this is a vpn client software and the virtual network adapter that made me the same IP range as the my LAN. When I turned off and did an ipconfig/release / renew the printer started to print.

    Best regards, Luka

  • Printing from laptop to the network printer.

I nave an ACER laptop with Vista Home basic and try to print using the printer network HP Photosmart 3310, which works well with other computers without any cable connection, including a desktop computer Dell with Windows XL as well as another laptop.  I installed the printer and its name is displayed when I click on print on a paper, but nothing happens.  I tried using Windows online, but the number of product was not recognized for some reason any.

If you have installed the correct Vista drivers for the printer? If so, then add the printer differently.

Control Panel > printers > add printer. Add a local printer. New port > TCP/IP Standard (next). The TCP/IP Wizard starts. Use the IP address of the network printer and follow the instructions in the wizard. You will be able to select the printer mftr. / model. Your printer should be here since you have installed the drivers. Complete the wizard. MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!

  • try to print from my Win7 x 64 laptop over the network (homegroup or workgroup) to an enslaved Dell Photo AIO Printer 926

I'm trying to print from my Win7 x 64 laptop over the network (homegroup or workgroup) to an enslaved Dell Photo AIO Printer 926.  When I look for the computer on the laptop, I find, it seems to be fine, but when I print a job, the print job is in the queue on the laptop and does not send the job to the desktop printer.  I had it once before but a relocation removed.  I'm not sure why I see the desktop of my laptop printer but cannot get it working again.

    Any advice?  Thank you

You need the Windows7 x 64 drivers for the printer (and perhaps software and fimware) installed on your laptop to be able to print using the printer on another computer if he uses another operating system...  Maybe when you reinstalled you forgot to install these things.  Try this and see if you can then print.

  • Cannot print from printer network.

Original title: not able to print

Have a desktop computer and laptop (both Vista), HP printer and 2 wire modem router/bridge combination.  Previously a Linksys and separate modem connected but now installed 2 wire gateway and my laptop now does not print to the printer.  My desktop prints fine.  That this has to do with IP addresses and the laptop is not able to connect to the printer?  Can someone guide me through how I can get my laptop to print?  Very frustrated.  Thank you!

    Hey Roman.

The printer is detected on the network?

    1. make sure the network is working and that your computer is properly connected to the network. For more information, see the following topics:

  • Installation: HPLIP and remote printing from ANDROID and iOS on a static network of HP printer

I recently installed a HP LaserJet Professional m1212nf MFP printer on my network and gave it a static IP address.  On my main computer (also statically networked - Ubuntu 12.04) I installed the hplip service and can print to it successfully.  On the same computer, I have a Dymo Labelwriter and a HP ColorLaserJet 1215 connected by USB.

I can print from my iPhone / Tablet Android of ICS to the printer and the printer color laserjet use Airprint service, but I can't seem to print on the m1212nf with Airprint.  If I print via CUPS with Airprint driver I get a completion from print but the printer does not print.  Now, since the m1212nf printer is NOT connected to the CUPS print server by USB, it makes sense, unless I can be told how to configure CUPS to print to the device on the network.

    -or-

I think, from what I've read so far, this Icould use eprint if there was a way to put a windows driver (Yes, reluctantly, I have access to a Windows laptop that I can put on my network) on the m1212nf and hplip driver which currently allows it to communicate with my main computer.

I would prefer a solution Airprint as Airprint works with mobile devices, the other two printers.

    OK, egg on my face!

It turns out that iOS functioned perfectly well, but does not have the Android app, I had on my tablet.  In addition to continuation of the Android issue, I have found only one free application that worked (at least for the text) in the game store, but we were really a "demo" as the print was a watermark, but we could remove the watermark for two separate awards, one for the text and one for the photos.

But in responding with a solution to this problem myself, I consider that it {SOLVED].  In addition it leaves no doubt that Airprint and the "generate airprint-' script works for versions of Ubuntu Ubuntu on the side.

  • HP Photosmart all-in - one a 309 will not print from the main computer in network

PULLING MY HAIR OUT and have spent endless hours trying to figure this one already, so any advice will be appreciated! This 'deal' of a printer had problems in time over the 18 months or so I got it, but this one takes the cake. My HP Pavilion 6140, Windows 7, 64-bit, isn't wireless, but is connected to a router. My 309 a is wireless, but is in the same room near my computer and is recognized on the network. My husband's computer is sitting across from home in his office and can print wireless from my printer. Sitting here beside him, I can't print anything. We were able to print test pages from it to my computer, but if I go to another file of any type of printing, the printer does nothing. We have uninstalled, reinstalled, tried drivers d/l. He tells us that we need a driver, but when we go to d/l, it says no driver needed, or your drivers are up to date. My crazy husband DID with the router last weekend, on the moment cela everything has started, but since he checked it out, and everything seems fine. Copy the scanner work very well, so printing them isn't a problem either. I can save a file from my computer to the network, run in there and shoot to the top of this file and send it to my printer to print. No problem.  So, can anyone please give me any suggestions as to why my computer is unable to send anything to the printer or the printer does not recognize. Control Panel says it all works well, and the printer is ready. If I go into the properties of the computer, it says "drivers for this device are not installed, code 28. We had other messages of error as well in recent days, but nothing has been solved little matter what we do. Also MY computer doesn't list MY printer in the choice IF I try to print, and it says "printer unknown error has occurred."

HardBeatZ, I wanted to just say a last thank you for all your help with my computer/printer problems. I hope I won't need this forum in the near future, because once again, I had to choose a different password. Yikes! In any case, we've been on all the roller coaster of emotions these past few weeks. Once you and I spread the printer as being the problem, we have debated on buying a new computer or reload Windows. After shopping and comparison of computers and prices see on them, etc., we decided that we had nothing to lose. So we borrowed an external drive and loaded important data and reinstalled Windows. Once we did that, we could still see the printer on the network, and it would still print from her husband's computer, but not mine. However, it DOES not seem to take care of other issues, and the dreaded exclamation point next to the PC icon has disappeared, so I'm gutsy and reinstalled the printer. For some reason, it still does not work wireless from my computer (which he always did), but I plugged the USB cable and returned to printing, scanning and faxing capabilities. so, I hope that all is well now, and except for paying ridiculous shipping for return monitor (still in warranty) which is released before printer problems, we did not have to shell out the $$$ for computer or printer. Monitor is shipped to me right now, so here's hoping that $$ on shipping was not in vain. Now if only we could be repaid in $$$ for the moment, concern and effort we all time put them into this mess. It WAS definitely a learning experience, even if, in the future, that I'll be a lot less worried to the excavation to solve problems. Thanks again for your time and patience.

  • Need help to install a network printer in Win7

Hey guys, come the jury for an hour last night looking for a solution.  I apologize if this is stated elsewhere and I missed it.  Tried to do a search on Google and found this site to be informative, I've decided to post here.

I have a home network that I share 2 printers through a Windows XP desktop computer.  All 5 PC print properly and run Windows XP.  Now, I've added a portable Win7 last night on the network.  I've tried a few things without result:

    1. Add the print function.  Finds of networked printers.  Does not try to load the driver (only drivers XP loaded on the network, so it obviously does), but even after he said: check Windows Update, anyway.

    2. went to the HP support site and looked for HP LaserJet 2100 (I know it's old, but still works fine) update of the driver.  D / the edition and ran universal driver.  Executable ran, still no go.

3 returned to PC WinXP who share network drivers.  Looked at the driver update section in the properties.  No Win7 not listed for other versions of Windows...

    4. same thing happened for a Canon iP1800.

So, I'm stuck.  Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks, Scheu

Hi, try this on the laptop.

    (1) add a printer
    (2) add a local printer
    (3) click on create a new port:
    (4) select LOCAL port and enter the name of the network printer XP IE. \\xp\2100

Use the Win 7 driver when asked
