  If you are using the function sending photos to your e-mail address as an attachment printers and eprint, the default print size is 4 x 6 photos and A4 for documents - it is not editable.

  having an intermittent problem with both my HP (laser & ink-jet) printers.  I've updated printer drivers, but still this problem - where small squares instead of numbers and letters sometimes appear.

  I read that the "print job wants to use a character that is not present in the selected font (font) and the character set' - that I sort of understand.  but I don't understand how/why that it just started to happen (I use these two printers for several years).

  and especially, I do not know what to do about it.  even when I save files as PDF files on my desktop, the small squares always appear...

  Applications > fonts Book.app

  Open the font book application.

  Click file >restore fonts Standard... and restore the fonts.

  Restart if necessary.

  We use a printer HP Deskjet 3050 has to work and it's ok if we want to print just the text and images and text together on the same page, but when you go to print a picture on a page it prints just a small version of the image and puts it in the upper right corner, no matter the size make you.   With the help of the iPad AirPrint won't let you print on a different size. To be able to print on different sizes, you will need the HP ePrint app for iOS devices. You can get it on the App Store.   Try to use the wheel on your mouse and hold down the CTRL key on the keyboard.
  It is an easy way to increase/decrease the size of the images and text on your screen.

  Make sure that you have not set up to do borderless printing paper. This will change subtly the size of your printed image.   Well, I solved the problem.

  I'm going to 'devices and printers-> right click on the printer-> properties-> Advanced tab printer' and check 'installed the driver. In my case, there is no "HP LaserJet 1102w", who is the best driver. So I remove the device and has installed, and I get the right driver "HP LaserJet 1102w.

  Now the printer works OK.

  I don't have a Mac to test but in Windows, the driver has an option to "Flip on long edge" or "return on the short edge.  Some versions had "return" or "flip up" parameters.  Look for a setting in your driver and change the selection.
