Printer added in xp mode XP

I have windows xp and the virtual machine on my win 7 pro. I have the print driver for a burner that works only on xp. I added the printer in xp via a tcp - ip connection mode. Can I use this printer from the software loaded in windows 7? If so, do I need to do to see from windows 7?

It is not installed as a network printer. I added it as a local printer using port tcp - ip instead of a local printer port. I installed the printer in XP mode and want to use it in a mode Win 7 graphics software program.

I understood that.   Share a printer between a virtual and a native window installation uses a network as process (virtual network).   And, just like on a real physical network, it is necessary to install a driver on the prompt.   If there is no Windows 7 compatible driver, you can not use the Windows 7 regardless of if it is connected through a virtual network, a physical network or USB.

Thank you very much for your help, if necessary.

Quite a few questions, send, but I will do what I can to answer them.

I recommend first to buy a router, even if it's one you won't connect to internet and it network with others your PC and printer. This will give you the best features and the results of what you're trying to do.

In addition, the automatic stop of the printer function can be disabled and is not affected by the type of connection. Usually, you can go through the configuration Menu and select tools to change the options there on the energy saving features.

Finally, the auto off function on your computer is a Windows question, but one easy answer. If you're on a laptop, you can right click on the battery in the tray (lower right corner) and change the settings for energy conservation.

You might be better off installing the printer via the USB cord and alternately inspiring when you use it, but which is not optimal if you are printing only a few documents on an irregular basis. A network connection is the easiest to manage across multiple computers, honesty, but you have certain requirements for this connection and limits as well.

I hope this information is useful!

    Hi @JNBLanocha

My stomach says mt that perhaps you have the printer USB cable connected to a USB 3.0 port on your computer instead of a 2.0 port. The image below is some examples of 3.0 ports.

3.0 ports are supposed to be backwards compatible, but I've seen questions arise.

    I wonder if the cable you are using is the computer and causing problems pulling power. All I can do at this stage is to assume and to gather information. Please post back with the answers to the following questions;

    1. You have a USB connection
    2. If the USB is connected, you use a 2.0 port or 3.0?
    3. Again, if you use a USB connection type, have you tried another USB cable? It could be a cable problem.
    4. You put XP or you remove XP and install Windows 7?
    5. You have your printer connected directly to a power outlet, or you are using a power strip/bar, or a surge protector?
    6. Now this may sound silly, but you have a timer on your computer, such as the hibernate after so many minutes and maybe the computer and the printer are set at the same, it is possible the moment closures / sleep coincide.

I look forward to hear from you and to work towards a solution.

    Hi @kbsh9884

I think it would be better to start our trip troubleshooting by running the print and Scan Doctor (PSDR). Printing HP and doctor Scan is a free utility (tool) that allows to quickly solve common printing, scanning and connectivity problems, including but not limited to:

  • ALL-IN-ONE PHOTOSMART HP 5510 WILL NOT PRINT AFTER GO 'SLEEP' MODE

    My printer model:

    HP PHOTOSMART ALL-IN-ONE 5510 B111A

    Problem:

Printer goes into sleep mode. After 25-30 minutes breaks the connection between the PC and the printer wireless. Beacon wireless is the same fashionable "sleep" and I see that the printer is connected to my router and there is internet connection. HP Print and Scan doctor sees the printer, but I can't wake the printer unless I restart it.

    What I've tried so far:

I tried all the solutions offered hp.com; Reinstall driver, updating the printer software, setting static IP on the printer, static DNS servers, using HP print and Scan doctor.

I've seen people questioned on this issue before and there is no solution. I really need help from HP!

After days of research, the problem was finally solved! I applied the following steps below. Some steps may be unnecessary, I didn't waste my time knowing who.

    1. find your PC's DNS servers by typing ipconfig/all in CMD.
    2. assign a static IP address outside your DHCP range. For my Linksys router him between 192.168.1.100 to 192.168.1.150. So I put my static IP address as 192.168.1.20.

To do this, click the button on your printer wireless. This will show the IP address of your printer. This type of your browser. Go/network/network address. Choose manual IP and write 192.168.1.20

3 now come to section of the manual DNS server, and then type your DNS servers, you found before.

    4. open your HP printer program that must be installed with your driver. Utilities hit and update the IP address. Update your address with your static IP address.

    5. now go to your router settings. Find the wireless settings and change your not automatic standard 20 MHz radio band.

    6. change your standard channel to 6.

7 find the wireless security and replace your WPA-personal security mode.

    8 disable UPnP

    9. This is the part of the KEY. Change the renewal of your key to 36000 seconds. (10 hours)

10 go to the Windows Advanced Firewall. Enable all the disabled printer and share, entrants and outbond rules.
I believe that the most important parts are affecting a static IP address outside your DHCP-range and change the key renewal time. I hope this works for you too

Since we have problem/situation with the computer I try to print in safe mode (with networking) on XP (home edition) of the cmd via 'Edit' window to the LPT1:

Problem is that I get the error message that the LPT1 port is not accessible.

In the Device Manager port is LPT1.

Is not to make CMD window printing to the LPT1 port on windows XP safe mode with networking?

Finally, I've not wanted ports to work with.

But I installed successfully "generic text only printer" USB port and get our printer to work.

It is SAMSUNG wtp 150 thermal printer with network, USB and parallel interface built in.

So now, we can wait a few days to install the new computer.

    2. Select the devices and printers
    3. In the devices and printers folder right click on your Photosmart C6250 and left-click on properties of the printer
    4. Left click on the Advanced tab
    5. Click the dropdown for driver and everything just move it back to your Photosmart driver.
    6. Select apply and then OK to save the changes to driver.

With regard to an all-in-one who would be on your needs and is economical on ink I would propose a HP Officejet 8610 e-all-in-one or an Officejet 8620 e-all-in-one.

HP Officejet 8610 and Officejet 8620 purchase price

Both printers have the same exact capabilities, but the 8620 Officejet has a slightly larger screen and duplex can copy and scan as well.

Here are the specifications for these printers:

    Features of HP Officejet 8610

    Features of HP Officejet 8620

The Officejet 8610 and 8620 have a removable printhead that adapt the 4 cartridges. The print head is covered by the manufacturer's warranty and any HP extended warranty that you can buy. By so if the printhead fails it will be replaced without cost to you with 4 new cartridges. There is a black cartridge, cyan, magenta and yellow that come with your printer.

The performance of standard page for cartridges are:

    Black - 1000 pages

    Cyan - 700 pages

    Yellow-700 pages

    Magenta - 700 pages

This size is supplied with the printer in the box.

    Extra-large performance for cartridges are:

    Black - 2300 pages

    Cyan - 1500 pages

    Yellow-1500 pages

    Magenta - 1500 pages

Even though this model is an Officejet printer, its print system still allows you to print photos and documents. This makes it compatible with Matt and glossy photo paper.

I wish you good luck with your decision. Thanks again for joining the Forums of HP Support! Take care

  • My Android devices wil not wake my printer to power saving Mode

I have an istalled of color M276nw MFP HP LaserJet Pro 200 as a wireless network printer. I have several computers with any operating systems XP and Windows 8, which wakes up the printer to the power saving without problems. I can also print wireless from my phone Windows 8. The problem is when I try to print from my Android devices. I installed the HP all-in-one Remote App on the Android Store and they seem to be installed correctly. They recognize the network printer, tell me that this is the energy saving mode, but are unable to wake him up. Can anyone help with this one please?

The version of Android on the Tablet is 4.2.2

Hello Jerends and thank you for your attention to my printer problem. My printer has a fixed IP address so no need to go this route. I managed to work around the problem by deleting the HP all in one application of my Android devices and its replacement by the HPePrint App. It is not perfect, but does the job.

    Thanks again.

I managed to get my printer to MFG mode. Features the most important seem to work, but I prefer the "normal mode".  Power off the printer for a while (several times) does not work. Re-Setup: no effect.

Can someone tell me how I can reset this?

    Thank you

    Frédéric

    Hello world

There are several different solutions provided according to the printer model. The information needed to solve the problem on this thread are a reset which should be granted under the direct instruction of a representative of the HP technical support. They should not be made lightly.

Refer to reset the printer: What You Should Know:

There are a growing number of messages in this forum and elsewhere in the internet with the steps to do a reset on different printers. Reset to will sometimes fix problems, so resetting is not the issue.

A few resets require you to enter key combinations to open special menus on your printer that you were supposed to never access. These special menus are used by developers and staff support for debugging of problems, but they are not intended for inexperienced users and can have unexpected results. A wrong button push and you might no longer have a printer, but rather an expensive paper weight. On top of that, if you happen to the 'brick' the printer in this way, it is considered as customer induced damage and voids the warranty automatically. These resets are only intended to be distributed and used as a last resort and under the direct instruction of a representative of the HP technical support. They should not be made lightly!

Please check your private messagesand let me know if the steps resolve your problem?

  • 32 bit and XP printer impact using virtual mode

This virtual XP mode is a W - 7 Ultimate 64 bit and works well with a couple of 32-bit devices, one of them a scanner photos or slides to digital conversion, and other 32-bit programs.

My system is a Lenovo laptop TP61p with a mini dock where I have access to a parallel port.

If I boot from a HARD drive with pure W - XP pro SP3 I am able to print on the Epson LQ-1050 + quite well impact printer. Even from Vista SP2 from B. It is also prove that the printer cables are OK

But I would like to avoid disk swapping and do the same thing through the XP - Windows 7 SP1 virtual Pro Mode. The program installed the printer OK and I can hear it during initialization when the system is turned on, but I can not even a test print. LTP-1 is correctly set up.

Y at - it a hack or a policy that could solve the problem? How can I make this work?
