printhead warranty-replaced; now can't use my cartridges

Just got a new print head (warranty replacement) for my HP Officejet Pro 8600.

Reinstalled my old cartridges, got an error message saying not not to use cartridges Setup (I'm still on the original cartridges, which judging by the liquid I hear still have plenty of life left).

Tried the game cartridges that were included with the replacement printhead, but they are also installing cartridges if I get the same message.

Obviously, the failure of the printer accepts the cartridges is related to the failure or replacement of the print head.

"Ron" in the shipping of India tech support dept said that the only solution is for me to go buy new cartridges.

In addition, he tried to make me believe that the original configuration cartridges supplied with the printer are not supposed to be used for a long time, but rather just to get the printer initialized - this is of course total BS.

I'm a little annoyed that "Ron" think, because of a problem with the printhead warranty, it's OK that I'm on the cost of a new set of cartridges.

I'm going basic here?  Seems reasonable to me to expect HP to send me cartridges that work with the new print head, so I'm done together again and I have a functional printer.

I ask HP admins here to expand it.  I suspect that there is a sequence to reset that support should be able to provide that would put the printer in a mode where it should be as the startup cartridges.

    Short answer, Yes.  You must first use installing cartridges.  Once done, you should be able to use the others.

    No, you can't use a Photo cartridge instead a black cartridge. Photo black and black are not the same and that they are not interchangeable.     I recently had my printer replaced by HP due to a fault. I was told to just my HP cartridges that I did. However, I am bound to instant ink all with my printer which means now that I can't use the full ink cartridges that I have.

    Welcome to the Forums of HP's Support. I understand that you are registered in the instant the ink program and you have had your printer replaced. I would like to help.

    I feel that this printer has not been replaced by the instant the ink Department. That or someone left dropped the ball.

    Instant ink cartridges are "locked" to the printer they are first installed in and may not be used for other printers. Who told you to swap the ink has made a mistake. In addition, your instant ink related to the old printer account must have been canceled. You should have been asked to contact the team of instant ink in order to register the replacement printer.

    The Pixma cartrdiges are not compatible with your printer F4480.  You can find the cartrdiges appropriate for your printer from the HP SureSupply site.

    I understand what you are going through. I lost all my Add ons, when I've updated also. I only use Lightbeam and Firebug was not a big deal.
