Problem alert text 8520 blackBerry Smartphones

I upgraded my os yesterday v4.6 v5 but have a small problem that drives me crazy with respect to the text alert tone.

I have selected the profiles edit profiles & then set up the tones for email, sms etc etc.

Seems to work correctly because the alert tone selected times as it should be, BUT for some strange reason, when I get a text from my wife it will DING?

I sent 3 text to my phone from my friends phones and they play same tone alert that was chosen by me, good news.

If I send a text from my wifes phones, I get a DING and not what I chose?

Little problem maybe, but BIG headache that I can tell you like it is very quiet not to mention not to be able to understand why or how to overcome.

Any help would be great.

    I just got my first Blackberry Pearl yesterday. Everything is great... except the SMS text messaging. When I go to compose a text SMS, the little box you type in disappears as soon as you start typing and not reappear until the cursor moves on the second line. When you get 2 lines of text, what you wrote is displayed. BUT if you misspell something in line 1 and go to to solve this problem, if you delete anything, the text disappears again. Once I sent the message, I can see what I wrote, but it will not appear me while I type it. You can see the character count on the side of the screen moving, showing you type something, but nothing appears. Help, please! It's very frustrating!

    The next thing I would do is then to make a backup of the data using the desktop backup manager and restore the functionality. Then I would like to wipe the device and reload the software.

    If you want to try to wipe the device you would go to Options | Security options | Settings General, hit the menu button, choose wipe Handheld. Do erase all data, but also reset the device back to the factory. After wiping did try to go in the new sms message and see if it happens. Otherwise, you can use backup and restore to restore your data and try it once more

    I have a Curve 8320 on TMobile.  First of all, I have had no problem display SMS messages.  Then I set up my email BB, became notifications for both without problem.  Decided I won't check my email on BB more, so I deleted this account on my BB.  Now when I click on the messages icon, it still shows just my old e-mail messages, no SMS messages.  I get the new icon of SMS message at the top, and then it will open the SMS messages folder, show the new (and former GSM).  After I read, if I come back in the messages it returns the old mails.  I have to physically click Options, display folder, SMS messages to view.  How can I get rid of the email stuff and go back to just having things SMS?

    WELL!  I was looking right at my menu icons, and there is now a NEW that looks totally different.  Looks like a piece of paper with a mobile phone on it and wrote SMS and MMS.  So, I moved up and hid the Messages icon and Email icon.  So I hope that it will work.  Not sure when this icon appeared, but I guess that is understood.  Thanks for your help!

    Steps I took to get my system working again.

    -While the installation worked, I selected "forget device" in the menu of the device.

    -Done a complete uninstall of the software of Office BB, including user settings. (A reboot is necessary)

    -Download a new copy of BB 7.1 desktop software.

    -Installed software, reconfigured synchronization Organizer and everything works fine now.

    HIII everybody... I use bb9320curve with os 7.1, until a few days back everything worked well, in my opinion if it was my friends or community mailer. Then due to several reasons, I disabled my internet connection for a week, now, even once, I enabled the internet, I received a message that in 20 minutes I start receiving my notifications by e-mail, but nothing happened. I have not received all messages on my phone (but a lot through my Inbox in regular line).  I tried to reboot, perform a hard reboot by removing the battery while on and so far nothing has worked.
