Problem connecting to internet via AOL / Internet explore

Hello

Recently, I got the following error message come in trying to connect to the internet using AOL:

ACS 4.9.9.1

TCP/IP connection: Err 0 x 84008504 Vista SP2

This would mean to me that the problem is not with AOL but with the Vista service pack 2 update, especially since the problem is a recent phenomenon after you install the service pack update. When I'm able to get a connection and be on AOL, I can't on the safer Web pages, including hotmail.

Any ideas on this problem?

Cheers, Chris.

Thanks for the info. For some reason that I have the same problem today when you connect on the internet and so far I have not had a problem with the same sites that I had problems with yesterday. When I see this problem again, I will try your suggestions and see if that makes a difference, then validate the results. See you soon.

According to your antivirus software, you must remove the virus, reboot and traffic let, I Don t know if the anounsment was Windows, such as Windows or your reliable antivirus (you have uploaded yourself or paid).
Windows = it can only be Windows Defender, trust him.
As Windows = the anounsment is an Ad-Ware, get an anitspyware (I recommend Spyware Doctor (Paid), but here they talk a lot about MalwareBytes).

  • Specific update for Windows on Windows 7 disables the internet connection in Internet Explorer

I have Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. 10/14/2010 my computer installed something around 18 updates to Windows. Immediately after the restart, I couldn't get an internet connection on Internet Explorer. My computer tells me I have 90% Wi - Fi, but I get nothing on Internet Explorer. I restored my computer to until I installed updates, and immediately after the restart of the internet worked well. I decided then to individually install each update of Windows one by one and found a specific update that causes this problem on my computer. It's "Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 8 for Windows 7 x 64-based Systems (KB2360131). I am able to install all the updates, only this specific one stop my internet to view Web pages.
On a side note, I have another computer with Vista, and this computer shows no problem after installing all updates. I don't want to change my settings to manually install updates, I love that they install automatically, but that just doesn't work if this particular day keep install and maintain close my internet. Any suggestions as to why it continues to be?
    Thank you!

[I turned first on my new computer on 30 August.] I tried to activate [the 60 days Norton free trial] in the first week or two, so maybe between 7 September - 14 September... not [uninstall before I installed MSE] however.

You must have activated the free trial immediately (i.e., August 30), not a week or two later. In addition, you should have uninstalled Norton free trial AND download / run the Norton Removal Tool BEFORE you installed Microsoft Security Essentials.

I suspect that you see the effects of a hijackware infection. Chances are that your computer is already infected at the time wherever you tried to activate the free trial of Norton. See...

    Several troubleshooting methods:

What antivirus/antispyware/security products do you have on the machine? Be one you have
EVER had on this machine, including those you have uninstalled (they leave leftovers behind which)
    may cause strange problems).

If no joy there's something blocking perhaps.

Start - All Programs - Accessories - System Tools - IE with no Addons - what works best?

IE - Tools - Internet Options - Advanced - tab click on restore, and then click Reset - apply / OK

IE - Tools - Internet Options - Security tab - click on reset all default areas - apply / OK

Close and restart IE or IE with no addons

    not better?

IE - tools - manage Addons (for sure disable SSV2 if she's here, it is no longer necessary but Java
installs and it causes more questions - have you never update Java to go back in and turn it off again.) Search
    other possible problems.

Windows Defender - tools - software explore - look for problems with programs that do not look
right. Allowed are usually OK and "unauthorized" are not always bad. If doubt about a program
    ask about it here.

Could not be a free - SpyBHOremover - BHO - standalone program, needs no installation, download.
unzip and run - all are not bad, but some can cause your question (toolbars are BHO).

Previously I could not any internet connection at all, so all excited and then back on again! To conclude that, although I now connect to Internet Explorer, for some strange reason, I can now retrieve emails!

If anything, I'm wrong dong - can no idea what, someone point me in the right direction? No point in communicating with BT (ISP) like all they will say is that I have a connection, if you see what I mean.

    Any help, really really appreciated

What happens if you try to send you a message? He sent? Error messages?

If you have a router, unplug it for 10 seconds and plug it in again. Give it time to reset and then do the same for the modem. Finally, close all programs and restart.

There is no doubt in my mind that BT will say everything's fine, but my money is on a temporary server glitch and nothing on your end.

Problem connecting to internet. My current tinkering is to disable the Intel network card, reactivate, and I connected. However, when I restart, the change is lost and the network icon shows no access, and offers connections that do not work. I guess that somewhere in the registry is the "unidentified network" below.

The network page shows the connection contains two networks, the right most "unidentified network".  I tried to review or delete this without success.

When I connect as long as user admin, the connection is present and working.

  • I just upgraded to Firefox 8 and now I can't connect to webpages about via Mozilla. I can always connect through Internet Explorer.

I've upgraded to Firefox 8 and I can't establish an internet connection to any webpage via Firefox. I removed the Firefox program and re-installed through Internet Explorer with the same results.

One possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or limits Firefox or plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after the detection of changes (update) for the Firefox program.

Delete all rules for Firefox in the list of permissions in the firewall and leave your firewall again ask permission to get full unlimited access to the internet for Firefox and the plugin-container and the update process.
