Problem connecting to some websites on the internet

My son is in the training camp at Great Lakes, HE.  I keep trying to go online marine sites to get info and will not open.  For example www.bootcamp.navy.mil I could access these sites on different PC, so the problem must be just this PC.  If you could help me ill get this please.  Thank you, Patti

When you try to open this error message you get (the EXACT wording, including all codes)?

Try to add the sites you want to visit to the list of Trusted Sites.  In Internet Explorer, go to Tools / Internet Options / Security / Trusted Sites / then add the websites you want to add.  Make sure that the only use https check box is NOT checked.  It can substitute for what is blocking your access.  What security 3rd party software are you using as appropriate (program or firewall or AV security suite)?  It is possible that this software does not block the connections.  Because I don't know what it is, I don't know how to tell you how to solve this problem, but in general it is the same with IE - find the routine that controls access and grant these permissions to sites (or generally lower security level).  In IE, I use a custom security level, but the default is medium-high (new in Tools / Internet Options / Security / Internet Explorer).  You can reduce this mouse to the next level to see if it gives you go (or you can try to customize what is a better option, but a little more advanced).

If this does not work, please transfer your question in Forum Internet Explorer: http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/InternetExplorer/threads where people who specialize in issues of IE as you connect to the web sites will be more than happy to help you with your problem.  If please include responses to questions here and the following steps you have already taken to try to resolve the problem so that you will get the best service.  BTW, I could access the site that you posted on my laptop without a problem - then you're right on it probably not be a problem with the web site and have something to do with the configuration of this computer's security.  I have no idea why it would limit restrictions to the marine Web sites (unless your system is not sufficiently secure and sites won't let you because of that - but I'm not sure know how to fix this because it is the opposite of what I have already suggested to solve the problem).  You should ask the experts at the Forum of Internet Explorer.

I hope this helps.

Good luck! Lorien - a - MCSE/MCSA/network + / A +.

The default value is used when a server does not send an encoding.

The default encoding is Western (ISO-8859-1), so it's best to use this setting.

If pages give problems then they may need UTF-8 or an encoding, you can easily change the character encoding menu now you know where to find specific windows.

    I have an AUSUS router.

    Best regards / Robert

Given that the printer can connect to the network and will allow you to print, I'm not sure that there is a network problem. Connection to another network and checking the EWS and applications Internet would be a great step in troubleshooting, and I'd be curious results if you try.

The only other option I can suggest would be to contact the HP Cloud support team, if you have not yet. If you live in the USA/Canada, 1-855-785-2777. If you live outside the USA/Canada, click HERE to find the number of Technical Support for your country/region.

  • WRT54G - connection works, but problem connecting to some programs

OK, first I'll explain the game up I have at home.  I use the WRT54G Router, the router is connected to the modem, and I have a desktop computer and a xbox360 both connected by ethernet cables to the router.  I also have a portable computer, which is the computer that has the problem, that connect wirelessly to the router.

Is OK, the problem ONLY on the laptop.  When I try to go to any kind of big site of videos, such as youtube.com or watch some tv online, video shows only loading a little more, and that they will not play through.  They blow constantly. In addition, just try to load a game like bejeweled, it would probably take about an hour to load up! My computer is only about 2 years old and I had recently tested through company warrantly m and everything on the computer is fine.  He had recently been to the factory settings, so there is not any downloads or whatever it is to slow the computer down, its perfectly clean.

I tried my computer with a friend, using its settings and internet.  The computer was working fine.  Played videos, responsible games.  Also, I tried the laptop hang until the router also using an ethernet cable and when I did the large working computer then too. This isn't the computer for sure.

So, if anyone has any recommendations for me, that would be great.  In addition, if you want to know more information made me know...

I consider myself a little bit more knowledgeable than a beginner, but not a lot... so would you please explain a bit in ordinary English (I know that makes me sound a bit silly, but I'll be honest and need help with this)...

    Please & thank yous.

As you mentioned that when you connect to your computer directly to the router, you are able to watch the video without any problem, it is only when your computer is wireless to the router.

Well I think you need to change some settings on your router. When you connect to her Router setup page, click on the Wireless tab and below the first thing you need to do is change the wireless channel: 11-2, 462 GHz and click on save settings... Then you must click the sub-tab under 'Advance Wireless' wireless settings and below change the tag at 50 interval, change the Fragmentation threshold to 2201, change the RTS threshold to 2202 and click on save settings...

Now on your wireless computer you must disconnect your wireless network and re-connect to your network and check if you are able to play and watch videos without any problem.

If still the same problem then I think that you need to update the firmware on your router.

Download the Firmware on your router from the site Web of Linksys. Once you download the firmware on your router, you must follow the instructions below to upgrade the firmware of your router...

Open a page in Internet Explorer browser on a computer hard wired to the router... In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1... Leave name empty username & password admin lowercase usage...
Click the 'Administration' tab - then click on the 'Upgrade Firmware' under the tab-here, click on 'Browse' and navigate the .bin firmware file and click on "Upgrade"...
Wait a few seconds until it shows that "the update is successful," after the upgrade of the firmware, click on "Reboot" and you will be returned to the same page OR it will say 'cannot display the Page.

    Now reset your router:
Press and hold the button of reset for 30 seconds... Release the reset button... Unplug the power cable from your router, wait 30 seconds and reconnect the power cable... Now re - configure your router...

  • Loss of internet connection - occurs randomly when using the Internet

I can surf the Web for a few minutes or hours and out of nowhere, I'll be unable to connect to the internet. I tried with Firefox and Internet Explorer. The computer always says that it has internet connection but the pages may not load. To solve the problem together, that I have to do is restart my computer.

Can I have a virus? Is there a simple way to solve this?

Go to the website of the manufacturer of your router > make sure you have the latest Firmware in Vista for it.

  • Having problems connecting to random websites.

    OK, here's my problem:

I don't know when it started, or how, but sometimes when I search the web using Google and I click on a link to a Web site I get the following error in firefox:

    Unable to connect

Firefox can't establish a connection to the server download.microsoft.com.

    * The site may be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few
    moments.

    * If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network
    connection.

    * If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that
that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

And what happens frequently, not with all the sites, but even with the links that I should be able to connect to. For example, I tried to download the 32-bit version of Microsoft Security Essentials Windows Vista official website

    http://www.Microsoft.com/security_essentials/default.aspx?mkt=en-us#dlbutton

but I still have this error.

Another annoying example is Windows Live Messenger games page. Window opens with a conversation, and after that I click on the 'games' button I get:

This program cannot display the webpage

    The most likely causes:

    * You are not connected to the internet.

    * The Web site encounters problems.

    * There could be a typing error in the address.

Or when I'm trying to update the Windows Security Essentials program, the download bar rests almost to halfway, then after a short wait happens with:

Virus & spyware definitions update failed.

Microsoft Security Essentials was unable to check the updates virus & spyware definition.

Make sure that your computer is connected to the internet, and then try again.

I know for a fact that my computer is connected to the internet as my Windows Live Messenger works, as well as update the definitions of AVG without any problem or surfing the internet (apart from the already mentioned problems).

I don't know what could be wrong, none of my Ethernet cables are loose and ran several anti-virus and anti-malware checks without virus or malware found...

I fixed the problem by returning to a week old restore point. Despite her failed all other attempts suggested, just to report.

    Thanks for the help.

  • Wireless connection keeps gettting disconnected from the Internet.

System: New Dell PC.  Internet browser: IE.  Connection: Wireless.  Replaced the Modem;  Router: Netgear new 43... Have two other laptops, a Toshiba and an ASSUS. System: All Windows 7.  Other computers are on the same WiFi problems - not stay connected. This PC has two antennas on the back to connect to the wireless router.

Browser used: Mozella Firefox (the worst of all a fall); Google Chrome (still drops), now: IE, version 9, works best with Yahoo.com email than other browsers and email applications.

Use: System security Norton, tune up utilities, 2013 and Super Anti-Spyware - ALL have been used continuously without any problems before.

Problem: as soon as the internet connection disconnects, trouble, launch window is. I select the HOTFIX and then, it reconnects to the internet. He said NO problem with cable. Then, it connects to the internet.  Wireless is full Signal, and the other computer in separate rooms have no pproblem.  I thought that the problem could be the newwork pilot program be corrupt and went to update, BUT got a warning that says to use the APPROPRIATE Microsoft program, or can be a problem. After about 8 hours of searching, I can't FIND driver network form of the Mircorsoft program. the versio curent is 2006.  This computer is a purchase of 2011.   Could be an internet code corrupt, registration, etc., but don't kinow how to solve this problem, if it is the problem?  Maybe different browsers, especially Mozella Firefox changed some settings when the browser has been installed or removed, because it is when the problem started.  MOZELLA Firefox has MANY complaints about this problem.

I RESTORE the system once, after you get rid of Google Chrome and Firefox, got a new modem, etc, so think the problem MAY be the address or anything that is not recognized by this computer's internet connections? Have no idea.     Help would be appreciated no - no help from Dell (what's new), even thought it was under warrantey, they always try to collect the royalties to talk and then do not know anything on the networks.

    Concerning

    Hi MHBolin,

Thanks for posting your query in the Microsoft Community.

Wireless is a breakthrough in broadband technology. It can allow you to access the internet remotely. You have a problem with disconnect the wireless connection. It can be difficult when something that is important to you does not work as expected. It's pretty simple and we're here to help you solve the problem. We work as a team and get this sorted out.

    Please answer the question-

    (2) what other troubleshooting steps have done?

    (3) have you done other changes on the computer before the show?

I would like more information about the issue.

    Method 1-

Sometimes, the computer cannot locate the IP address of the router. These problems can be solved by a simple reset of the router.

    See the steps-

    (a) locate a PIN size on the back of the router (that would be your reset button).

    (b) use a sharp object or to press the button to reset for a period of ten seconds and release.

    (c) now, wait for the lights on the router to Flash.

    (d) once the lights are stable try to connect to the internet.

    Method 2-

You must ensure that there is no interference between the router and the computer.

    The municipalities which are-
