Problem external HDD Toshiba SATA HDD inside (take 2)

I plugged all our computers (iMac, old Toshiba laptop, a MacBook) a portable hard side with 2 USB 'heads' we had quite a few years. On this hard drive, we have everything, pictures stored in documents of all computers. I plugged it in (the iMac for example) but in the devices section of the Finder, it does not appear. One of our laptop Windows says there is that a top mistake and nothing can be found. Can you help me understand exactly what is happening, and if I would be able to recover our data?  Please help me. We really want to be able to use it again.  I once tried to get him to an electonics shop and he would cost a fortune for den without knowing if our files can be recovered or not.

Mumbere, I had to choose a category that had nothing to do with my subject. Don't me ashamed for that.

Hello

Have you tried using the 3rd party to recover your data?

The free version of this program is very good:

https://www.Piriform.com/Recuva/download

If cela or similar programs don't work no, using data recovery specialists is the other option.

But, as you say, thet are very expensive.

Good luck with the recovery of your data.

See you soon.

Edit: I know you follow the advice given to start a new Thread, but it was not necessary that your response to it pushed to the top of the list of threads where he would have been noticed by others and support provided here...

Please stay with this thread now and forget the others to avoid confusion.

Kind regards.

I have an old 3.5 "320 GB Toshiba HDD (model: http://pan2.fotovista.com/dev/2/5/00496952/l_00496952.jpg)
(and no more warranty) I think it is broken I don't know. Because it has power and the light flashes but do not start the HD (I mean it there is no "this" sound start).

So my question is how do I open the case to connect it directly on my PC or what I can do?

SRY for my bad English ^^

    Hello

Looks like a failed disk head crash HARD, etc.

In my opinion there is not a lot of options.
If the warranty is valid then you should visit your dealer and ask for replacement, fix, etc.

If the warranty is not valid the dealer would not replace this part.
What to say, in this case you can try to remove the support HARD drive (don t ask me how, I don't t have this HARD drive) and could try to connect it to a desktop PC using an IDE or SATA cable (depends on the HARD drive) to make sure if it is possible to gain access to the HARD drive

  • Toshiba External HDD PX1267E - 1 32 and WME

Designed to be used with Windows XP,

Please can you tell me if it can be patched to be used with Windows ME software?

Don t think that the software on the external HARD drive can be patched. Usually, these devices are always delivered with different drivers for different OS. Then maybe you will find the drivers on the CD or the HARD disk delivered.

Anyway, I connected the new external 500 GB HDD on my laptop and I have not installed any additional software
The operating system (Windows XP) has recognized the external HARD disk and worked very well.

I think that if you connect the HARD drive to the unit you you n t need to install the software.
The operating system uses the common Microsoft USB drivers and it should woks with these common MS drivers.

  • Mac Pro read is not Toshiba External HDD

I have a * Toshiba USB 2.0 Portable external hard drive (200 GB) *, and I used it fine on my PC with Windows XP for months.

I tried to plug into today in my newly purchased Mac Pro and it seemed very well on my desktop, but when I double-clicked to view content, my data and such were all there, but I couldn't access anything whatsoever. If I open a folder to see its contents, I got was an empty folder with a spinning graphic "Occupied" in the lower right corner. None of the individual files would appear at all never.

I would try unplugging, re-plugging in and then sometimes it wouldn't even register on the desktop. I have tried different USB ports on Mac Pro to look forward and try to make it reappear again.

Once I was actually able to view all the content on my hard drive. I tried to access an MP3 player out there, it load iTunes, but iTunes locked up on me, and I couldn't close out of it, and eject my hard drive.

When I "Get Info" on my external hard drive icon on the desktop, the format is MS-DOS (FAT32).

I use the Mac OS X 10.5.2 release.

Any ideas of what is the problem? I am absolutely puzzled and upset.

    Hello

Have you tried to update the drivers of USB port?

    You should try this;
-Disconnect all USB devices the USB ports.
-Go to the Device Manager and remove all the USB root hub and all USB host controllers.
    -Restart the laptop

After this procedure, the Windows operating system should recognize and should install the USB ports again. After restarting again you must connect only USB devices and must verify if they will work properly!

  • External HDD USB3, only not to behave on a PC (with USB3, but OK on USB2)

I have two PC of Windows 7 (32-bit) with USB3.
A desktop PC and a laptop (with built-in USB3)' PC with USB3 additional PCI card.

Yesterday, I took delivery of a Toshiba Canvios Plus portable 1 TB USB3 drive external HARD.
It works very well with the laptop. It does not so well with the PC (on USB3).

I already use ports USB3 on the PC for a 3.5 inch 2 TB Segate external HARD disk and a couple of USB3 flash drives.
    Those who work quite well.

The new Toshiba works fine (although slower than full USB3) on the PC when it is connected to USB2.

I downloaded and installed latest via drivers for the USB3 on the PC and which makes no difference.

Symptoms that are very different from small copies (at best a few small files) FOR the Toshiba are very slow and hang up unless I'm doing something else on the PC (for example, open a browser window or start my email client or...)-in which case, it gives a short burst of activity before slowing down / suspended once again. If I continue to initiate other activities unrelated, it completes OK.

Deleting files also seems to be a small problem (of similar issues).
But not so obviously. The copy of the device is better (but probably still not perfect).

The Toshiba was provided to FAT32 and so I changed to NTFS (by deletion and recreation of the partition), but no improvement.

In the resource monitor, the record shows at or very close to 100% active time while copies are (attempt) execution (even when he is seemingly suspended). And the indicator on the unit flashes while all this is happening on (which suggests that it is busy, even if nothing really happens).

In addition, cancelling a copy often takes a long time to take effect (varies, but could easily be a few minutes or more).

    Any ideas?

To be honest there is no troubleshooting options: Toshiba Canvio USB 3.0 HARD drive is a device plug ' n play.
It must be connected to the USB port only and everything should work and works automatically.

As far as I know each Canvio 3.0 HDD supports an internal shock sensor and ramp loading technology to protect your player...
I'm not sure why the USB 3.0 device does not work in USB 3.0 port.
There may be a problem of compatibility from the USB 3.0 chip... Maybe but it's just a suggestion...

It would be interesting to know if this HARD drive may work correctly in another computer/laptop support USB 3.0 port.

  • External HDD DWC 3 130 TB good size and lost data

    Hello

I have all the backup data on my external HARD drive and other important data photos.
I have a problem with my laptop and I used the backup (MBR, etc.).

I also use Partition Wizard Home edition to resize my hard drive in my laptop.
Unfortunately, after that in windows 8 Toshiba external HARD drive disappear.

I used two software to find out what happened.
One does not find the Toshiba HDD, the second find the HARD drive, but first of all, the size which show me was 14.66 TB and all partitions and data was missing.

How to solve this problem and how to recover my data?

    Thank you.

    Hello

I guess that's your HARD drive:
    http://www.Toshiba.com/us/accessories/storage/Canvio-desktop-hard-drives/3TB/HDWC130XK3J1

I guess due to changing partition size, the size of the partition has changed and now it s not visible using the 3rd party software.
To be honest, I have no idea of what changes have been made, but without doubt, you will need to create the partitions with NTFS file format once more.

    Hello

At first was a little bit the theory for a better understanding.

In the latest Toshiba delivered recovery facilities DVD discs with all the new models of laptops. "" Since then, I think, two or three drives of years facilities are not part of the package and recovery image is saved on the HARD disk and the recovery disc can be created using preinstalled "Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator. This recovery image is not saved on a separate recovery partition but on the second partition of HARD drive (data partition E) in the folder called HDDRecovery.
The screenshot on 1.5 GB WinRE partition has therefore nothing to do with the Toshiba recovery image.

This creation of recovery operation may work with the factory only settings. with other words, if you change the partition structure, or if you deleted this folder HDDRecovery you won't be able to create the recovery disk or install the operating system using HARD drive recovery option.

I guess that you do not have this folder HDDRecovery more and because of this, Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator starts with error message. This tool needs direct access to these data recovery to create the drive recovery facilities.

I think all this bother you much, but it's your fault. Reminder with the trace message is preinstalled on each Toshiba notebook with HDD recovery:
    * Important INFORMATION *.

    * your system is equipped with a hard drive recovery system. If you need to repair your computer in the restaurant to the original factory condition, you can do it directly *.
    * from the HDD (press F8 when you start your computer, choose "Repair your computer" and follow the instructions in the menu) or create a bootable recovery for this fin.* drive carrier

    * Toshiba recommends you create recovery disk medium using the "Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator' to ensure that you are able to restore your computer to the original state that is installed at the factory, even if your computer is severely damaged.*

What you can do now is to order the new original facilities Toshiba drive under https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx or you can use the Microsoft installation for the installation of the OS disc. All the necessary drivers, tools and utilities that you can download at Toshiba page under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com for assistance

    Bye and good luck.
