Problem migrating Eudora to Thunderbird emails

I have the same problem as others migrating Eudora mail to Thunderbird. I demoted v18 Thunderbird as the last to have work Eudora import. I'm on a 64 bit system running Eudora is not possible, so it seems that, unless it runs that Thunderbird can not find mailboxes mailbox, even if I tried to make copies the Eudora mailboxes in the two Program Files folders, the folder Thunderbird and as a separate folder named "Eudora" on drive C. I note that recent versions of Thunderbird actually ask you to choose the file to import, but because the importation of Eudora is broken it is not mailbox and folders boxes or TOCs. If someone has found a way around this impasse, and it is likely to be addressed in future updates of Thunderbird?

All of the suggestions above were not mine, but in anticipation of changes to include in the article to Thunderbird based on the positive feedback and now live. Could you have a look again and describe what does not work for you or you would like to see changed/added?

I've always used Eudora, but now I have Windows 10 on my new computer and use Thunderbird, I love. I have a lot of saved messages from Eudora I would add to my new computer from my old computer. I have also both Eudora and Thunderbird program on my laptop. Is it possible I can import my Eudora program on my laptop my email with Clickfree (external hard drive), and then import it on my Thunderbird program on the laptop, then load it onto my Clickfree (or use a USB stick, etc., then transfer it to my new computer? Or is it possible to do it better?

Thanks for any help you can give.

There is no reliable method for importing Eudora mail into Thunderbird, but there are alternatives.

Here are two articles from mozillazine that can help you.

The first article lists some methods that might work. One suggestion is to use an older version of Thunderbird to import the data.

The second article is probably the best way, but can take a lot of time.
It includes a section migration of messages using a mail server that suggests to use an IMAP server as gmail to transfer mail from one client to the other with the IMAP account as an intermediary.

  • Thunderbird email send option, format text, areas of HTML, "NAME DOMAIM HTML", adds domain name, domain HTML HTML: "what is it?

"Thunderbird email send options, format text, areas of HTML, HTML DOMAIM NAME, domain name, domain HTML HTML adds:" what is it? Should I come in here as a domain sending HTML name? I have no idea.

I can't send email. It seems that I need to configure the options of sending by sending a message. Yes? Help, please!

    Thank you. Ken [[email protected]]

I doubt that this has nothing to do with your problem sending.

Used as a plain text email. Some users prefer the plain text and use nothing else.

Most users expect to be able to use the fonts, the colors, the font styles (bold, italic, underlined) and to be able to insert images and other graphic elements. To do this, you must use the HTML.

To avoid annoying the first group, you can add to your address book and set their preference for plain text, on a whim of a base.

If, say, in your workplace, it is planned to use signatures fantasies with pictures, or messages are required to comply with the internal rules regarding fonts or layout, then all related work email will need to use HTML. So you could add to your field of work (the part of the e-mail to the right of the symbol @) to the area of the HTML fields in the dialogue you have shown above. And you would probably add domains customers and suppliers too, since all your messages that will also be required to use your formal rules.

For example: I'm going to type the same thing here. It will come out like this or a Variant: 456 7890-= qwe rtyu. If I do the same thing again it will be: [IOPS] as dia jkl;' ' \zx. What is going on? Bye the way I had to type this in Thunderbird and copy and paste into this web site. Also, if I type in MS Word or Excel, all is good. The problem is on the web sites.

My computer crashed and I restore my my hard drive recovered Thunderbird email, how do I restore my old emails (stored emails and accounts)? I found 2 folders (a local sub) & another under roaming which appear to contain my email stuff. How in Thunderbird set up again to access my old emails/files? Also, I have three accounts/email configuration in my old email. Thank you!

Create a new profile and copy the one above him. See this article for instructions.
    http://KB.mozillazine.org/Moving_your_profile_folder_-_Thunderbird#Create_a_new_profile_and_copy_the_old_one_over_it

Your old profile is located under "roaming."
For Thunderbird there is nothing that you need to restore from "local."

Thunderbird is a bit like Microsoft, all the reasons as I dumped MS Live Mail.

First, a lot of help for Thunderbird refers to the menus that may not be visible. It would be useful to you and us if you have your menus and toolbars visible.

    http://chrisramsden.vfast.co.UK/13_Menus_in_Thunderbird.html

Then, open a window of writing. Activate the menu and operate.

Now that you see an option "Insert"?

If this isn't the case, you can assign composing in plain text, which does not support embedded images.

Tools | Account settings| {Select account} | Composition & addressing and ensure "Compose messages in HTML format" are checked. If it is not already checked, go back to writing a message. No better now?

Once you have the mode of composition HTML goes, you can use Insert | Image or various permutations of copy - paste and drag - move to the body of your message.

I was hooked to a program archaic mail Eudora (6.2.4) for many too long because I knew not how to migrate, all settings, addressbook, filters, folders, etc. for Thunderbird. Accordingly, I am always under Mac OS 10.4.11. I'm looking for support to the transition.

As far as I understand the process (I have not used Eudora for more than 20 years) import takes minutes, not days. Also, if I understand correctly, if there is something corrupt in the Paris Eudora files are open. It is somehow a fragile process that according to me is the involvement

Please see this. Although it is old information, he is still topical because Eudora import really has not improved. Maybe EudoraRescue will work for you.

  • Hi, I had to reset my laptop and it remove Thunderbird... I reinstalled it without problem, but where are my emails?

my laptop wouldn't load Windows, but then a screen came and gave me a few options (i.e. turn PC on / off) I did. It did not work. I clicked on the solutions in advance that gave me two options: 1. reset - which would keep my files but delete all the apps. and 2. Reboot - that would be to delete everything back to factory settings. I have Reset that remove Thunderbird among other programs. In any case, I tell myself that if I reinstalled Thunderbird all my emails would appear, they do not have. I'm sure they're somewhere, here, I don't know where to look. Can someone help me?

You can see a folder named

    C:\Windows.old\Users\your-username\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird

If you do not immediately see AppData, make sure that Windows displays the hidden files and folders. To change this setting, see this article - I hope that it is similar to Windows 10:
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/show-hidden-files

    Can find you it?

If this isn't the case, you have a backup of your Thunderbird profile folder?

  • Migration Eurdora to Thunderbird 3.61 hic

I downloaded Thunderbird 3.61 and am trying to migrate mail in of Euroda. When I try, I get the following msg:

    "The message sending failed.
Could not open the temporary file C:\Users\Eric\AppData\Local\Temp\nsemail-6.eml. Check your setting of "temporary directory". »

I erased all the attributes of all directors in this way. For some reason any Tbird does not always manage to recover the temp msg they send. Any help would be greatly appreciated

The problem at the moment is gone. I think that someone on this forum (that I use often and find very little claire) commented that Yahoo Mail is something of a burden to society and therefore not given much attention. After some advice that I indeed found a new Yahoo certificate installed in Eudora in the last days - he wasn't reliable natch - so I added it manually to the trust list and Eudora itself works fine now. I'm a happy camper.

  • I ~ 3 000 messages unread. can they be deleted; and it would allow my Thunderbird emails be faster?

In addition to being slow, Thunderbird does not allow me in down loaded a simple pdf file? Thunderbird is almost too protective by allowing not not descriptive documents accompany the legitimate emails.

Thunderbird does not block the PDFs, or any type of attachment. You will need to elludicate on this topic. I have really no idea what your problem is, unless your antivirus blocks attachments. OR they are sent by a badly configured e-mail client Outlook and arrive in the winmail.dat file. But it is difficult to guess even with zero information.

Slow. What antivirus do you use? What is your computer. Whatever this is XP must be getting quite old and inherently slow.
