Windows Update does not work after reinstalling Windows XP due to the infection by the virus

Hello

I have a system of Windows XP with IE8.

I can't get Windows Update to work. Just crossed another reinstall due to a virus problem and trying to get my operating system again.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you

    Select Services

Stop the Background Intelligent Transfer Service

In 'My Computer' go to Windows / Software Distribution

Right-click "DataStore" folder. Rename it to Datastore.old

I tried to install Windows 8.1 USB, but I can't go beyond the screen who wants the product key. Should what product key I use? If I go back and reinstall Windows 8.1 the touch feature work?

What can I do to get a running Stream 7 tablets?

    Hello Aberger,

I guess that you have improved your 7 to 10 of Windows Workflow, but now you want to reinstall Windows 8.1, correct?

If you went to go back beyond the 30 day trial period, you can use the image USB, you must have created 8.1 Windows before installing Windows 10.

IF you have not done this media, you will need to clean install Windows 8.1 with Bing.

You can not install ordinary Windows 8.1 copy unless you buy a new key.

Machines that accompanies Windows 8.1 no longer a sticker with a key to the subject because the key is embedded in the bios. Installing Windows 8.1 with Bing will activate when he sees the key in the bios.

During the installation process, you may need to click Skip to ignore entered the key until Windows has installed fully. If so, this will cause windows to enter a Limited State of Activation. When you connect to the internet to update, it will fully activate.

You must contact the HP Support directly to the new copy of the installation media if you do not already have.

  • Sync does not work after reinstalling Windows 7

Sync works great between my Windows 7 Desktop and 8.1 tablet. The PC got a clean installation of Windows this weekend and now Sync does not work. I do not receive my bookmarks/history/etc on the desktop.

-Two versions of Firefox are updated (40.0.2)
-J' read the troubleshooting and installation FAQs
-I am able to sign in sync on both computers
-For the signature, I get a popup saying that Sync will begin momentarily and an e-mail notification. Nothing happens tho.

I suspect that the problem is related to this 'new' version of Sync. I tried to follow the FAQ "Updated to the new version of Sync", I took off the two devices, I checked both are on the latest version of Firefox, but the next step is to create a new account to sync and it doesn't let me do, I plug my email and get "account already exists." What Miss me?

The new profile created from the clean windows installed a fusion with other devices? Check the device to see if it retains profile data.

Have you changed the password? This would stop all data from previous synchronization that was not local.

If you go down this road of troubleshooting, the account must be deleted first. However to prevent data loss, you can click on remove account from accounts.firefox.com and then re - sign up.

  • Windows 7 Windows update does not work after replacing hard drive

Win7 Home Premium and HP Pavilion DV6-2150US.  Failed hard drive.  I bought a Seagate 500 GB replacement (original drive was 250 GB) and used my purchased HP re - install DVD to re - build Windows and reinstall the OEM software on the new hard drive.

Everything starts fine, but he won't deal of Windows updates (. e. is a big red X on the screen of windows update).  I tried Microsoft "Mr Fix it" download - but it error and none of the other suggestions Microsoft not work either.  When I had the chance to talk with a MS tech support person, she suggested that somehow windows on the new drive is not authentic, etc...  Although windows on the new drive hard indicates that its active and authentic... is there some kind of checking a number of the hard disk 'really' activate windows?

Just to make sure that my reinstall was not corrupt, I deleted the new hard drive and began in everywhere... I have the exact same result... it boots fine, but will not update through windows update.  The only other change to the laptop was that I had better buy double the memory to 8 of 4 when I bought 2 years ago... once again, do not know if there is a kind of material exchange limitation before disabling the windows software.

Help, please!  I'm really stuck.  THX JimmyC

Thanks for your post... I solved my problem by installing the update driver Intel rapid storage through this link:

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c02219204

I suppose that as long as the hard drive is lower 250Gig you need not the new driver.  But when I replaced my hard drive failed with a disc 500gig hard - when I did restore HP to Win7 and the OEM software from the dvd, I bought - it put the storage driver original in Win7 - which works very well with a 250 GB drive, but causes the windows update doesn't work is not for readers more than 250gig.   When I installed the driver from the link above file, Windows Update started working - and you can imagine there are many, many fixes since my PC has been restored to original Win7 - doesn't not even Win 7 SP1.

I hope it helps someone else... thank you for your message.  JimmyC

  • Message "Non-genuine Windows" & Windows Update does not work after replacing the RAM.

    Hello

I have a PC desktop HPE-170 a current running Windows 7 Home Premium SP1, which has been installed on the machine by the store where I bought it. It has been properly activated and has worked very well for 18 months or more.

The other day it decided to not start and a computer savvy friend corrected the problem by removing the RAM memory cards, clean the gold plated connectors and re - insert the. This fixes the problem and it started again.

Today I received a message on the computer of Microsoft saying "your copy of Windows is not genuine" and he invited me to "solve online. Well, click on the 'My Computer' icon showed me that windows was still active.

By clicking on the "solve Online" link took me to a validation page, where after she tried to validation, it says "The Validation failed" and advised me to buy another copy of Windows 7 HP for AUD $149. Gee, thanks, but no thanks Microsoft. I clicked on cancel and the non-genuine message has not yet reappeared.

I also found now that Windows Update doesn't work that way.

I rang MS that says that I need the Windows 7 Setup disk. When I said that I don't have one, they advised me to ring HP. I didn't have time to complete the phone call from HP, but I believe that HP wants me to reset the system to factory with them State guide me by phone.

I have a genuine copy of Windows, a product key, and it shows as activated.  From what I understand the system think that I tried to put my copy of Windows 7 on a new computer or similar? I'm not sure.

Is it really difficult to get the system works just like before?

    Thanks for the reply.

I'm afraid I don't understand your instructions. I think that you are a fair way waiting for me in the issues of tech savvy.

I think I have stumbled upon something here; http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c02219204

Download and update this driver seemed to do Windows Update includes itself.

I can now go here; realwww.microsoft.com/ /validate/ and he says: "Welcome to Windows".

I hope I now get no more fake messages on my OS Windows is non-genuine.

    I'll see what happens tomorrow.

Last update 18/7: seems to be fixed, no more problems.

  • HP Mini 210-4120: Windows Update does not work after the Reset HP Mini 210-4120 factory

Following the advice in another post on this site, in order to create a "clean" installation and his work & Office Starter (they do now--they have not before) I did a reset to factory of the recovery partition. (Trying to create discs of recovery or a USB key on the two brackets to the stage of checking).

The new game worked well, without error, BUT try as I might, I can't have the updates of Windows to work. If tried to re - adjust the C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution folder, sfc/scannow (no errors found) and using the powerful Microsoft FixIt which is supposed to re - install the Windows Update service - all without success.

I read on a post no HP (but I can't remember where!) someone finds this problem caused by a chip Intel driver, so maybe that could be applied to my PC.  However, since the factory Reset recovery Partion includes SP1, I would have thought that at least the system should download updates!

I get no error message, it justs waits... and waits... and waits.  I let wait for 90 minutes, but there is still no sign of activity.

I hope someone knows how to solve this problem otherwise I'll have to go back on my installation of non - Office Starter - his, no. (Who, fortunately, I have a couple of image.)

    Hello:

    I get it, I guess.

I thought that you also had a simple W7 starter installation disc (which must be done by editing the efi cfg file in any drive of W7 installation), and then you use the product key on the case of the laptop to turn on.

I knew that you had tried the partition recovery without result.

I was in the middle of the answer I have provided the link for audio driver, and I see that you already have.

What do you think of will be without safety last cumulative update for IE8 be manually downloaded and installed before going to windows update to nothing at all.  What will happen is the CPU at 100% and a whole lot of nothing else of fortification.

Do not go in line with the hopes of getting the updates of windows after the installation of SP3.

Disable automatic updates in Control Panel > automatc updates > disable automatic updates

Start > run > wuaucpl.cpl > disable automatic updates > apply (if the setting is changed) > OK

Get the exe to install offline full download for IE8 [should represent approximately a 16 MB file] and then install IE8 after SP3 and the decline of the ability to download updates for IE8 at installation time.

Then manually download and install the current cumulative security for IE8 update and restart the computer.

visit Windows Update through your browser link in the start menu.  Consent to any ActiveX install queries and validation / advantage genuine offer and cross your fingers.

It is possible that you may still have questions, but this will reduce some of the problems if you follow the recommended sequence.

  • Windows Update does not work after restoring the system

HP Compaq 6000 Pro, bought in early 2011. Windows 7 32 bit. I recently did a factory restore to return to a clean system using factory restore partition. The restoration seems complete ok, and I have a Windows 7 clean and functional configuration.

However, the Update window will not work (and of course, it is now quite an old installation of Windows 7) it comes up with the Red Cross and the message "Windows Update cannot currently check for updates because the service is not running." Other notable issues that may or may not be related are: Windows Defender won't start not (0 x 80070564). HP Support Assistant reports it needs to update, but the update fails (because then it just says: it should be updated again)

    What I've tried so far:

Verified that the BITS and the WU services are both actually run

    Uninstalled the McAfee antivirus software

Tried to install Windows 7 SP1 directly (happens with "catastrophic failure")

    Tried Windows Update (wusa.exe) stand-alone installation / WU Readiness tool-fail (Oxc8000247)

MS difficulty he said Troubleshooter it corrects problems, but nothing changes later

(In short, tried all suggestions from MS support)

It drives me crazy - any help will be appreciated!

ISO should work, just be sure to download the version of Pro 32-bit.
