Problem Mobile catalog to a new computer

I'm trying to migrate to a new computer Windows.  I got the transfer of user data by a store of the local computer, and they did a brilliant job.  On my old computer, my user data were on C:, but on the new computer, C:\ is a SSD boot and data are on D:\.  In particular, active Lightroom (raw, tiff, etc.) were C:\Users\Owner\Pictures, but are now in D:\Users\John\Pictures.  I understand that there is a symlink in Windows that handles the change in the location of the user profile and practically my all programs were able to manage the passage of C:\ to D:\ automatically.  But not Lightroom.

When I start Lightroom and open the catalog, all the thumbnails are the exclamation "Miss Photo" and all files in the files of the low owner Panel have the question mark.  If I look at the link of the folder in the metadata Panel (see below), I see the folder locations are hard coded in the catalog.  Lightroom does not use the symbolic link.

Folder points to C drive.png

What is the right way to get the catalog to point to the correct location?  I simply right click on owner? in the Panel of the records (see below), select "Find the missing folder", and then navigate to D:\Users\John?  It seems that this easy solution that I tried to do it without asking first. Or is there another / better way?

find missing folder.png

Under Lightroom CC (2015) Windows 7 64 bit.

I simply right click on owner? in the Panel of the records (see below), select "Find the missing folder", and then navigate to D:\Users\John?

Yes!

Don't forget that you have at least two backup copies of your catalog and all your photos.  It is easy enough for readers to fail, but the risk increases when material changes.

  • Restoration of the catalogs on a new computer and the version of Photoshop Elements

I have Photoshop Elements 8 and first Elements 8 installed on my computer. The operating system is Windows 7 64-bit.

I have a problem not solved with print JPEG images in Photoshop Elements 8. If I do not adjust the date in the file image before I print crashes of Photoshop Element. I have no problem with Premiere Elements. I have no problem printing JPEG images, which is open a RAW Edition. No time adjustment is necessary in this case.

This isn't a question about the printing problem on which I gave a solution. However, thanks to all that gave some ideas, however.

I tried everything, including asking for help on the forum of Adobe, but without success. I decided on a drastic measure. I'll remove Photoshop Elements 8 from my computer, but not first Elements 8 and delete all images in photo of the computer also. I backed everything up. I hope that should leave me with a computer on which no trace of Photoshop Elements 8 or my photos. Then I'll install 10 items and restore my catalogues from my backup. I hope that let the printing problem.

    Here's my question.

When I restore my Photoshop Elements 10 catalogs this procedure will restore not only my images, but also my albums and tags etc that I had created in version 8?

Thanks to all those who can help you.

Make sure you use PSE8 backup function to save your photos and catalog.

This Adobe document explains how to manually remove PSE8:

    http://kb2.Adobe.com/CPS/826/cpsid_82673.html

When you reach the point of having PSE10 to restore from your backup, you will have the opportunity to tell PSE where to put the pictures in incoming.  You will also see your albums & tags, because they are stored in the catalog (database) which is restored.

  • Retail of Windows mobile 7 on a new computer

    Hello!

I have Windows 7 Professional installed in a partition separated via bootcamp on my MacBook Pro. The operating system has been a purchase on shelf. The Mac starts to show its age and I am wanting to move to a new Macintosh soon.

When I install Win7 on the new Mac, how would I disable the license on the previous system so it can be used on the new?

Is this just a case to make sure the old drive is wiped clean (or destroyed), then use activation by phone for the new system?

    Thank you.
    -BenA.

It's not radiation process, Microsoft connect just the number of times a particular license is authenticated and if too often on hardware different base rejects the automatic authentication.

There is no direct limit how many times you as the owner of a retail sales license can install, only this can be installed on a single computer at a time.

It is likely that re authentication works automatically, but if it does not use the option phone but wait for an operator to detail the situation to. They will ask you to confirm that the original installation was removed and then issue an unlock code.

  • How to import my mobile Favorites to a new computer?

I had to format my desktop and I forgot to save my favorites. How can I get the my mobile on my desk? They have been synchronized before I formatted the office. I use a Galaxy Note II.

Hello, if your galaxy is already connected to the sync account you can pair the two devices like this:

    1. on your android phone, go to the application of the system settings and in Accounts & sync (could be worded slightly different on different android devices), go to firefox sync & tap pair a device.
    2. on your desktop, go to firefox > options > synchronization > configure firefox sync > I have an account that will show you a 3 x 4 character code that you will need to enter your android device to complete the process.

  • Problem: Editing and original photos transferred from the old to the new computer

Today, I installed Photoshop elements 13 on my new computer. He had previously installed on my old computer.  On my old computer I could see my photos modified 42000.  On the new computer, I see now more than 85000 pictures.  I have my edited each image and the original unedited version.  Is there an easy way to remove the photos so that I'm alone with my modified photos?  This has happened once before when I got a new computer and I deleted the unseen photos, one at a time (there were only 5000 photos at the time).  Help please.  It will take me an eternity to eliminate more than 40000 photos one at a time.  PS I'm almost 70 years old and not very computer.

    Number of questions:

How to transfer your files, photos and catalog to the new computer? I suppose that use you the recommended backup / restore process:

Displacement of Adobe elements Organizer catalog by using the backup and restore | Photoshop and first Elements 6 or later version

You see 85000 files count in the organizer or in your browser (explore / finder)?

I also assume that your modified photos appear in 'version sets' in the Organizer?

If so, there is a faster way to keep only the edited version.

Elements 14 works great on Windows 10.

To retrieve the catalogs (and your files of photos at the same time) you normally use the backup and restore processes:

Organizing moving items catalogue by using the backup and restore

But for 5 items, you will have a special procedure to follow:

Convert catalogues organiser for 64-bit versions. Photoshop Elements 13 or later version

  • How can I disable LR6, and turn on a new computer?

I hope that I have a proper forum. I have LR6 installed on both computers. I get rid of a computer and want to install it on a new LR6. I have no problem loading LR on the new computer, but I need to know what should I do to activate my license on the new computer? In earlier versions, you had to disable LR on the old computer. Is it necessary with LR6? If so, how?

    Please follow the steps below.

    1. Disable the software from the old computer. For more information consult Learn how to enable or disable Adobe apps.
    2. Install the software in the new computer.

    Hope this will help you.

  • I transferred Lightroom to a new computer, the image files does not appear

I transferred my back ups, previews and catalog to a new computer. I see the correct number of photographs, but the files will not appear. Thanks in advance

Personally, I think putting the LR catalog in the 'My pictures' folder is a bad idea is not a photo, but that's just me. When you put your catalog and where you put your photos does not matter.

However, once you are inside the LR catalog, in the library, folders Panel module, you will need to "relocate" all of your old files and LR knows where they are now.

  • Problem importing catalog

I installed LR4.4 on a new computer.  I made a backup on the old computer and followed the process to upgrade my catalog to the new computer, but all of them are empty after importation.  What I am doing wrong?

You must use your operating system to identify where are the original photos. If you move them to the new computer, you should know where you put them. Note the top-level folder that contains your photos. Write it down. We all know which folder. Or better yet, show us a screenshot.

The description in your previous message is not a description of your photos, it's a description of the catalog and previews. This isn't what we're looking for.

The import from another catalog command is also not what we want you to.

You said in your first post that the open catalog and photos do not show, what you see are white. It's catalog, we want you to open again. Having identified where the photos, you can, within this catalog, follow the instructions in the article linked to reconnect your photos.

  • Catalogue catering to new computer that already has photos

I understand that I need to backup the catalog on my 'old' computer, install the items and then restore this catalog to the new computer. The 'old' computer had 10 items, I will install 12 items on the computer of 'new '.

I got my data saved by Carbonite, so when I set up the new computer and restore data from Carbonite, the pictures on the 'old' computer are now on the computer of 'new '.  It seems to me that when I restore the catalog, it will also restore the photos, which will give me duplicates, or I'll have to give permission to each photo must be replaced.

Should I take pictures on the computer "nine" to another location and then restore the catalog and photos?

I intend to use the same folder structure.  The pics are in the photo library.  If I need to move photos, can I also move the images folder so that the same folder structure can be restored?

    Thank you

    George Butchee

The structure of folders, "gouged" suggests you look at "My Folders" view, which is a list in alphabetical order. For the structure of the tree, as in Solution Explorer, click on the yellow litle icon on the right side of the title bar of 'My Folders'. This will show the view "folders." Note that by default, only subfolders with media in the caytalog will be displayed. Right click on the top-level folder opens a context menu, then you can choose to display all empty subfolders included.
