Problem of DVD on a Satellite 1950 801

Hello

DVD player (Mat * a UJ - 810) of my Toshiba Satellite 1950 801 recently stopped recognizing any DVD inserted media (rewritable, registered or manufactured). However, it seems to work correctly with the CD, CD - r and CD - RWs. everything also seems normal in the control panel (I'm under Win XP Home, btw).

I wonder if it's probably a software problem (a driver or a program that must be running) or a hardware store. I need to replace the DVD drive?

Thank you very much in advance for your answers.

Hello

Optical drive needs to change the phase of laser reading/writing DVD from the one he uses for CDs. It is possible that he can no longer do this properly.

Before you replace it, attempt to remove the optical drive from Device Manager, and then restart your system. The optical drive should be detected and re-installed with drivers, etc.. If she is still unable to properly read the DVD then it's a pretty safe bet that the unit should be replaced.

Kind regards

    Hello

After awhile the driverupdate for a laptop will be reduced to a minimum. Righteous updates resolve the big problems that will come out.

This procedure is every time the same thing. If you buy a computer, Notebook, PDA for example.

But you can look for other cell phones ("most recent") with your graphics card in it.

    The Satellite 1950 801 has a nVidea Geforce4 Go 460 aboard.

I have this graphics card sought and found that Toshiba had made another series called Satellite 5200 (701,-801,-901).

Of course, you can watch if this driver is more recent.

But attention! I Don t give no guarantee that all series of perfect with this 'the driver update procedure '. We can dispense with the craziest things!

I know what I'm talking about, I have the also a Satellite 1950-801.

  • Satellite 1950 801 does support WLan?

Is Toshiba 1950-801 charge wireless network? And how do I install the driver for it.

Note: I have the on/off switch for the wireless in the front of the laptop

According to some information in the net, the WLan on the Satellite 1950 801 is optional.
This means that some laptops have been delivered with the WLan and others not.

In your case if you are not sure 100% if your laptop has built in wireless minPCI network card then I recommend to check the Device Manager. The WLan card network adapters should be registered if it was already installed on your laptop.

Anyone know if it is the PCMCIA VGA card with chipset market later than nvidia geforce 460 go to upgrade my satellite 1950 801 (with nvidia geforce 460go)?

    Thanks in advance

The best unfortuantely adapter Pcmcia you get for PCMCIA is 4 MB of video memory. This is because the size and heat all became issues and could not get into a PCMCIA card.

Sorry, it's not that you can do.

    > The battery to the charge of wireless keyboard is more, the power button doesn't work anymore, what can I do?

You are not able to turn on the laptop?
HM looks like a laptop computer s hardware problem and maybe that is the reason why external Wlan keyboard don't invoice not the laptop is dead and so the keyboard do not work

Why the laptop does not power upward?
Hmmm. issue of goo. Perhaps the AC adapter is dead and can not provide the power of portable and laptop battery is dead too.
This is possible, but in most cases it s not the reason why in most cases, the motherboard could be defective

However, only the laptop technician can check the hardware parts and could provide more details

  • New 120 GB HARD drive is recognized in Satellite 1950 801

    Hello

I have a Toshiba Satellite S1950 801 and I want to spend my 60 GB HDD of origin with another 120 GB.
They have the same features, but when I install the new hard drive, I have the following message:

Realtek RTL8139X pci fast ethernet controller
PXE - E61: media test check the cable failure
PXE - MOF: exit intel PXE ROM

even if the network startup is disabled...

    Can you help me please?

Have you checked if the new HARD drive is seen in the BIOS?

From my own experience, this message appears because the BIOS does not recognize the new HARD drive and then the laptop trying to boot off the last option that is; LAN.

In my view, the size of new HARD drive is just too big.
Usually, the BIOS supports a limit on the size of HARD drive and so the biggest hard drives are not recognized properly.

I recommend you test a HARD drive with a smaller size; Perhaps an 80 or 100 GB would be possible.

Greetings to all and waiting for your help!

    Hello

It seems that you bought the disc is not compatible!
It is not recommended to connect any pin on the new drive code!
I would like to invite your dealer where you bought the player and ask a new compatible.
The fact is that if you destroy the drive, you lose the drive, warranty and money!

I only see message saying drive Cant find Suisable or Drive not suported ect ect...

    Hello

Don't you know that the use of the incorrect firmware or not is not compatible would be detrimental to your CD/DVD drive?
You should only use the firmware provided by Toshiba.

I checked the page European driver of Toshiba and found 6 different firmware updates.
There are updates for the reader:
    TS-L633P, TS-L633A DVRTD08A, DVRTD08L, TS-L632P TS-L632H

You got the message because it seems that you used the wrong firmware or is not compatible!

So if you want to Flash the firmware using the Toshiba files European page:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp

by the way: some disc can cause some problems if different test types of disks from different manufacturers.

My DVD Drive Does not read the DVD + R and therefore does not write on them. I wonder if there is no frameware or something, or maybe my drive supports DVD + R. It supports DVD-R only.

    Hi Hossam Aldin,

Sorry, I have to tell you that your DVD burner only supports the following features

    Read:
    CD-ROM, CD - R 24xMax
    CD - RW 12xMax
    DVD-ROM 8xMax
    DVD - R, DVD - RW 8xMax

    CD - RW 4xMax

If you could see there is no /AR DVD + R support to read and write!

  • DVD player has stopped writing DVD on my Satellite 5200 801

Quick question that I hope someone knows the answer to. My DVD player stopped earlier for DVD writing (several relocations of system have proved that it is the reader and not a pilot/conflict error) so I put the hand on another drive. Fitting was easy, however, it seems that there is something funny with the ide channel configuration in this laptop. The old drive was put on CSEL, however, the new drive is set as slave. because of this the HD or the DVD player are available.

Does anyone know how to pass to CSEL dvd players to make them work (I tried to put the jumpers on the hard drive to change between a master and a slave, but with no joy.)

    Thanks in advance

    John Walker

    Hi John,.

Normally, the readers of CD/DVD design slim are preset by the manufacturer, but it is apparently possible to change the setting, if you really want to. Please check the following post: -.

    Hello.

    I have a Toshiba Satellite 1950 801.
Beyond the keyboard is a case that seems to be the place to insert the optional wireless network card.

I have the button to enable and disable the wireless card, but without the card it doesn't do much.

What is the format of the wireless card? Where can I buy one?

    Hello

I found information on your device and it seems that you can upgrade the laptop with a wireless Mini PCi Card. Wireless on this unit standard is 802. 11B. In addition the PA3212U-4MPC is a 802. 11 b but I m not 100% sure if it s compatible.
    I found other compatible cards:

    Wireless LAN Mini PCI Card (2, 4 GHz, 802. 11a / b) PA3273U-1MPC
    Wireless LAN Mini PCI Card (2, 4 GHz, 802 11 b) PA3212U-3MPC
    Wireless LAN Mini PCI Card (2, 4 GHz, 802 11 b) PA3212U-2MPC
    Wireless LAN Mini PCI Card (2, 4 GHz, 802 11 b) PA3212U-1MPC

However, you can ask the service partner for more detailed information.
