Problem Opatch
HelloJust like asking for help if someone faced with a similar situation.
When I execute opatch lsinventory (or any kind of opatch < command options >), I encounter the below error:
* oracle @ < Server >: [u01/app/oracle/product/11.1.0.7.4/db_1] $ opatch lsinv *.
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: oracle/opatch/OPatch
OPatch failed with the error code 1
I tried the following:
a. I have tried to run the opatch including the absolute path of the directory ORACLE_HOME/OPatch and it works, please see below:
#######################################################################################################################
Oracle @ < Server >: [u01/app/oracle/product/11.1.0.7.4/db_1] $ $ORACLE_HOME/OPatch/opatch version
Citing O Patch 11.1 .0.8.3
OPatch Version: 11.1.0.8.3
OPatch succeeded.
b. then I checked the $PATH value and the ORACLE_HOME is included in the $PATH variable, please see below:
#######################################################################################################################
Oracle @ < Server >: [u01/app/oracle/product/11.1.0.7.4/db_1] $ echo $PATH
/usr/Kerberos/bin:/usr/local/bin:/bin:/usr/bin:/Home/Oracle/bin:/U01/app/Oracle/product/11.1.0.7.4/Db_1/bin:/U01/app/Oracle/product/11.1.0.7.4/Db_1/OPatch
c. I have tried to run the path given for $PATH opatch, please find below the result:
#######################################################################################################################
Oracle @ < Server >: [u01/app/oracle/product/11.1.0.7.4/db_1] $ /u01/app/oracle/product/11.1.0.7.4/db_1/OPatch/opatch version
Citing O Patch 11.1 .0.8.3
OPatch Version: 11.1.0.8.3
OPatch succeeded.
d. but if I'll just run the following command, encounter the error:
#######################################################################################################################
lsinventory opatch
Oracle @ < Server >: [u01/app/oracle/product/11.1.0.7.4/db_1] $ opatch lsinventory
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: oracle/opatch/OPatch

version opatch

Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: oracle/opatch/OPatch
OPatch failed with the error code 1
Just wanted to know the cause of this, if the opatch works correctly if executed with absolute path and if its properly defined in the $PATH variable
but meeting error will simply run as:
$opatch < command options >
Additional information:
Here is the version of java and perl installed in the box
OPatch succeeded.

My question is why opatch is called in this way?
Hello
It would be somehow or accidentally opatch was copied into this directory. To confirm this post please exit
$> ls-l /u01/app/oracle/product/11.1.0.7.4/db_1/bin/opatch
If it exists in there then delete it
Hope this helps

Please follow the procedure under the section 'How to check the contents of the inventory Central' (Doc ID 742477.1) to check whether or not 10.1.2 ORACLE_HOME is registered in the central inventory. If it is not registered then follow one of the methods in the same doc to add.

Hamda seynaeveAs with all products Oracle Opatch has probably changed over time.
It was introduced in 9.2.0.6 announce 9.2.0, which is a valid, non-existent version number.
I remember that Opatch simply does not work for older versions of 9.2.
Also it is most likely at the outset that it was not possible to specify the location of the inventory on the command line.
Without more information from your side, it just seems that you are running the wrong version of the opatch against an incorrect version of the database. Not surprisingly, this translates exceptions, and those can also not be addressed.
Please make sure that you are running the correct software.
If you think that this is an error, make sure that you complete the retail version and correct from the start.-----------------

12 c Opatch-Datapatch question/problem
Hello, I follow the instructions to patch my 12.1.0.2.0 database on Windows 64-bit server to Patch 10 . Everything went well, but I'm having a problem to apply the patch to several databases home alone. The statement mean I run Datapatch for each instance of database running in my house from Oracle. I ran the command "datapatch-verbose" and he ran against my default database only. I confirmed this by running "Select * from dba_registry_sqlpatch" on two databases, and only one has the hotfix information. How to Datapatch against other databases? Is there an order of connection string that I use after "datapatch-verbose" or do I have to set the Oracle_sid variable to the other database in the command window, and then run datapatch? Thanks for any help, the instructions are too vague, and I can't find anything about it in the forums.
question:
Set ORACLE_SID = db2_name
Then run the datapatch utility. Repeat for the other databases to be patched.
See you soon,.

Issue by applying opatch 19434967 10.1.2 on ORACLE HOME
Hi all
It is just an extension to the problem addressed in the previous post.
During the application of the o patch 19434967 on Oracle Home, obtained with the error below 10.1.2.
ERROR: 1
OPATCH_JAVA_ERROR = CheckConflict: OPatch cannot treat the patches of layering due to no support YES. Please take the last group of patches YES 10.1 "My Oracle Support", and then try again.
Impossible to check the bug/folder conflicts and component of due diligence.
For the error above asked patch 6640838 , IE install newer YES, who have successfully completed. But this Setup, downgrades the OPatch utility at 1.0.0.0.61, earlier it was 1.0.0.0.64, and this resulted in the error below when you apply the o19434967 patch for the second time.
ERROR: 2
The patch 19434967 directory does not match the id of the patch.
ERROR: OPatch failed during pre-reqs check.
After some research, I found that the error(ERROR:2) above can be solved by installing the latest OPatch, if I did all the problem is repeated once again.
Can anyone please suggest how to apply this patch successfully.
Thank you
Moore.

Your OPatch itself does not work. Looks like that problem installing java.

a precise answer of is ' when JVM attempts to load a class and found that this version of class file is not taken in charge he throws UnSupportedClassVersionError , and it occurs generally if an version superior JDK is used to compile the source file and a lower JDK version is used to run the program.» Try for example if you compile your JDK 1.5 java source file and allow you to run on JDK 1.4 you will get the error "java.lang.UnsupportedClassVersionError: bad version in .class file number [at java.lang.ClassLoader.defineClass1 (Native Method)].
