Problem with dual boot

Recently installed Ubuntu 12.04 on my desk and its poster option for 'Windows 7 (loader)' bootloader, but by selecting, the screen turns white and back to the same screen...

I guess, I made changes to settings where in fact the Windows 7 operating system.
Even tried to fix the beginning of the problems using Windows 7 installation DVD, but it shows that it has no problem starting

And even the charger Linux said that there is no problem

Help, please.
Thank you :-)

I would try using the bootsec tool
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/927392#

using the /scanOS switch that he must analyze the master boot record disks and fix all the invalid entries, you said can kill ubuntu when windows re-written the boot record.
to work around these sorts of errors with Dual Boot ubuntu in the past I have installed ubuntu to a sick card 32 GB SD or USB then to start, I just hit my boot option and choose the SD/USB instead of my hard drive. (I think that this can be with the Universal USB Linux installer..)
This way Ubuntu and Windows never have to fight for space MBR as it is completely controlled by the BIOS to start select. Or if you are using a desktop computer, get a 2nd drive internal, disconnect your windows drive, install ubuntu on the other drive, then connect your windows you save. This way you can make the same boot select tip and 2 OS are on completely separate disks and will not conflict. (Also makes it much easier if you need to re - install one of the 2 operating systems)
I hope this helps and good luck

  • Problem with dual booting BACK and Win7.

I tried to configure a machine as follows: 0 = 250 G SATA drive with 512 byte sectors BACK 6.22, only fine boots. Disc 1 = 500 G SATA with 4K with Win 7 sectors. When you install Windows 7 on disk 1, it ignores the C: drive on drive 0 and affects the C: drive letter in the windows partition. Because the c: drive on drive 0 is no longer a drive letter designation, no bootstrapper is installed. I cannot change the letter of the windows system drive, in disk management, and as such cannot get BACK start as the C: drive. This is new behavior, I did install it on NT 3.5 thru XP on the same reader or different readers without fail. Win 7 enter the C drive letter for the system drive? If so I'll have to go back to XP for double boot installs. I get this same behavior on a single disc with the two BONES. If anyone has an answer, I guess that the next option may be a third-party boot loader.

I need a startup BACK too, the only way for me to do is to install BACK first, and then XP and win7

After that it starts on win7, xp (earlier version of windows), select and then from there BACK.

It's 2 steps instead on the 1 step :) but it works

  • Re: Problem of dual boot Win7 and WXP

I read the complete step by step how to Setup dual boot windows 7 and xp. I have all my partitions has prepared in advance and them labeled accordingly so there is no confusion.

I installed windows 7 on my new SATA drive. Everything went OK, except that I've never had a start this menu - at 7, it's like Windows XP Home edition was not there.
I downloaded and installed and ran, easybcd and tried to add the menu WXP manually entry. He asks the drive and the drive with xp on it is now Windows 7, drive D (when E is I boot xp).

All the necessary files (ntldr, boot.ini, ntdetect.com) are all on this disc. But when I try that menu entry, every computer is restart. It will start again than windows 7, unless I go into the BIOS settings and change the HDD boot order (in this list, if I do that with nr of partition Win7 1, I can boot windows 7 and only this, if I do that with nr of partition XP 1, I get my old regular boot.ini boot menu (what makes me also in my ubuntu wubi installation).)

I would like to be able to boot in Windows XP Home edition from the Windows 7 start menu, or, Alternatively, to want to boot Windows 7 Startup menu Windows XP Home (what would be even better).

    Are there directions for me?

    Thanks in advance.

I have more Satellite A300 with two hard drives and I've install WXP and Win7.
What you need is the Boot Manager. When you start your laptop, you can choose which OS should start, and one of them can be set as default OS so if you n t choose anything after 30 seconds, one of them will start automatically.

    I'm using Win7 OS default.
    > I would like to be able to boot in Windows XP Home edition from the Windows 7 start menu, or, Alternatively, would like > to start Windows 7 from the start menu of Windows XP Home (what would be even better).
I put t know if something like this is possible. If you want to change your OS, you must restart your laptop and start the second OS.

  • How to connect W XP to DSL with Dual Boot Windows 7 Pro & Windows XP Pro,

Have Windows 7 Pro & Windows XP Pro installed in a dual-boot on a new computer configuration. Have Windows 7 Pro connected to the DSL through a wired connection to the Cisco router. How can I connect Windows XP to DSL, via wired or wireless?

    Hello

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

I understand that you must also connect the Windows XP operating system to a network.

Here are a few steps to do this, please follow.

Step 1: Set up Windows XP DSL Connection: using the new network connection wizard.

    1. Click Start and follow the path: programs-> Accessories-> Communications.

    2. Select the New Connection Wizard , and then click Next.

    3. There are several options in the wizard. You set a Windows XP DSL connection, select the option above that says to connect to the internet and click Next.

    4. Select Setup my connection manually and click Next.

    5. Here, there are three options. The first is for the modem connection, so we must not select. If your DSL account is always enabled, select the third option and click Finish and see the next section on IP addresses. If your DSL account is a limited account, which requires the password, select the second option and click Next.

    6. Enter a name for this connection, and then click Next.

    7. In this screen, enter your DSL ID and the password that you got from the ISP. Click Finish.

Hope this information is useful. Please update the status of this issue. Do not hesitate to contact us to get help with the Windows operating system. We are happy to help you.

    Thank you.

  • Problem with dual monitors since upgrade to W7

I am under W7 Enterprise32 bit with dual display (monitors) - a Lenovo L193pC (primary) and a Dell E177FP (secondary).

Since the upgrade to W7, I noticed that if I leave my PC unattended and locked for a long time (30 minutes and more), when I get back to him, I lost contact with my main screen: the monitor is on, but the screen is black.  I can only see the secondary display and windows cannot be moved from the second screen to the primary.  All I can do is to sign using the secondary screen, near everything I opened down and restart the PC.

I use a set of chips Intel G41 Express and a Microsft v6.1.7600.16385 driver for the primary monitor.

I noticed a few people reporting flickering monitors in a similar situation, but not quite the same thing as what I mean...

Anyone got any ideas how I can stop what is happening?  Is - this driver related?

Just to let you know that I solved this now.

It wasn't a driver issue, it was a computer setting.

When I put the PC display never sleep and the computer to sleep never it solved the problem.

  • Problem with flashing Boot ROM

    Hey everybody

I have a problem with my Slate7 4600, everything was fine this morning with it up to what I have turned off for awhile

When I turned it on again, the HP logo that appeared, followed by a black screen.

So I tried to reflash the recovery Image on the HP site via sideload ADB (the only thing that I have access to) but when checking the update file I get this error:

    Spoiler (Highlight to read)

    assert failure less_than_int ro.build.date.utc
    assert failure less_than_int ro.build.date.utc

So now I'm stuck with this, kernel starts, but Android does not work (I think), and sideload won't let me flash zip.

    Thanks in advance!

Ok thank you. Have you tried to update the version.14 I see out there? It is possible that if his treat them as updates that it will not allow the same generation that is on the device to be flashed, it must be more recent.

There are ambiguities on the pages of software support if the files are updated or images of the recovery. I'll see what I can do to clarify that.

  • Re: Problems with Win7 boot on the new Satellite L670-17 x

    Hi guys,.

Three days ago I got my new Toshiba Satellite L670-17 x. Installing Win7 was not a problem, but now (after the start of the third or fourth) I suddenly a big trouble with the operating system.

When I turn on my laptop, it loads up until I can see the Windows loading screen. Then - both - the laptop stop working... I can only see the loading screen, but nothing happens. Turns off the light litte to the frontsite (which shows that the specifications of load/work). No error message.

I want to avoid using the Toshiba HARD drive recovery, because I saved (important) documents on the desktop (I know... not very smart). I ask you to help me with my problem.

(By the way: I already tried Windows repair system, System Restore memory diagnostic tool and start Windows Mode without failure).

Thank you very much for your answers!

If you cannot boot OS in safe mode, that, in my opinion, you have a big problem. I'm afraid only installation of HARD drive recovery will help you in this m.
The question is what to do with this data.

Perhaps you should remove the HARD drive and connect it to another computer to have full access to all of these external data. Copy them, replace the HARD drive in your Satellite and install the OS by using HARD drive recovery option.

  • Problems of dual boot xp/win7

    Hello

I went through a lot of trouble to install windows 7 and xp on my lenovo x201t. I had to install xp on a USB because I don't have an external cd drive. I created a new partition for xp using EASEUS partition manager.

Once I was in the xp installation screen, it asks me to choose a partition on which I want to install xp on. The only drive that pointed was the flash drive, which is where I got the xp installation files. I went into my BIOS and changed the SATA compatibility instead of AHCI mode. Once I did, all partitions appeared and I was able to install xp.

Now that I have installed xp, I wasn't able to boot windows 7 because that the Windows XP bootloader didn't poster not windows 7 option. I was able to solve this problem by using easyBCD.

Now a bootloader which displays windows 7 and windows xp options. Great!

Not so much... The only way I can boot windows 7 is if I have AHCI enabled in the SATA option in my BIOS, and the only way I can boot windows xp is if I change this compatibility option. If these conditions are not met, then I get a BSOD.

I would like to be able to start in the two operating systems without changing my BIOS settings every time.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks in advance

Update: I can't install the drivers of Matrix Storage intel on xp because the AHCI controller does not appear in Device Manager. I believe that this happens because the SATA is set to compatibility instead of AHCI when I boot XP.

You should have the correct drivers for XP so you can run it with AHCI also.

Now, you need to install the drivers, pretty much as described here - http://forums.techarena.in/windows-xp-support/936428.htm

  • Desktop HP ENVY 700: problems with the boot from usb in the bios

Hi I'm trying to boot from usb on a desktop HP ENVY 700. I don't know the serial number now.

I followed the instructions and have produced a bootable USB and I checked this on a work dell computer where there is an option for me to boot from my USB if I so wish, but on my HP ENVY any options choose it does not appear with my USB in question and when I try to change the boot sequence making sure the usb/floppy and drive hard usb is above the rest of the sequencers starting it always starts just to the top as usual to my windows boot 10. I've disabled secure boot and used the boot of the legacy and it still does not work.

I went through all the options I can that seem to be logic and it just does not work. I don't understand and I have to start using a usb key that I use the operating system can be very dangerous in a real environment, so it can not be downloaded to the hard drive.

I need immediate help, this becomes quite frustrating now that it should be simple to do, but HP is not the way to simplisitic to do.

Please if someone could point me in the right direction I would be so appreciative ideally if I could have a ride on the way to do

I need this to work because I can't afford to buy new systems and its for my studies so its imperative

Your PC has a motherboard of Memphis and happens to have a UEFI BIOS and the hard drive of the GPT format.

You can check the type of hard disk online order volume by using the DiskPart utility.

Create a flashdrive bootable UEFI with RUFUS.

Plug it into an available usb port before you press the power button. Near the powr button and immediately start to tap the F9 key to enter the boot from the sources menu. Select the Flash drive under the UEFI Boot sources. Let the boot process. If you have created the key correctly, it should start.

I took the liberty to do a little research on the ASUS HD 6450 map.  Are - what you got to get the ASUS HD6450 silent and low GPU or the bigger one with the fan?  It might be possible that those silent will not support Eyefinity technology since it was modeled for the home theater PC use.

I noticed that the model with the fan on the radiator mentions he is compatible Eyefinity, while the silent model does not work, but it allows you to choose between a VGA, DVI or HDMI port, but do not use them simultaneously.

  • Dual booting - problem with the disk when trying to start windows

original title: problems with dual boot.  Windows does not play well with others.

    Hello

I have Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit included with the computer.  I installed Fedorah and it works on my computer.  When I installed it, but I had my hard drive partion.  I left most of the hard drive (about 400 concerts) as it was, when I booted up Fedorah worked well and gave me the option to boot or windows.  When I started in the window, however, it wouldn't let me start my computer, it says I have a problem with my drive.  With XP, it gives me no problem, I didn't ignore the disk check, but with Vista for some reason it doesn't let me start.  It gives me a few options of restoration to the previous status confuses the computer he says I manually type in which windows in the command line.  I don't have my windows CD, the only other option that I have that seems to work when I click it is restoring to factory fault which I don't want to do because I don't want to lose all my files.  Please tell me what I need to do.

Download the 64-bit on the right.

Download the ISO on the link provided and make a record of repair time it starts.

Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.

When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.

  • Strange problem with Windows Vista / & Dual Boot of Win 7, Vista is there, but is not...

I have sucessfully partioned primary SATA drive in my old Dell XPS desktop computer for 1 year so I could dual-boot between Visat & Win 7, but that the process be re-sizing / partitioning, or installing Windows 7 posed problem with dual booting (MBR) which I was able to fix via the process of startup repair & recovery.

Unfortunately, when I try to boot into Vista from the Boot Manager screen, I can get as far as the Welcome screen and then the screen turns white.  At some point, I think I saw an error message referring to a bad or Rundll file missing (I think it is)

However, if the blank screen, I can do a Ctrl-alt-del and bring up the options menu to lock the computer, switch users, log, change password or start the Task Manager.  When I select the Task Manager, I see several Services & processes running.  It seems that Vista is running, but I can't do it...

If I select log-off, I get the newspaper colorful off the screen.

    Any idea?

Should I continue with the process of startup repair & recover?  I don't think the fix bootrec applies more, correct?   In addition, I unfortunately do not have the CD original Vista because it is a Dell system with all the stuff of recovery on the hard drive... (GRRRR!  ) which I think is a no recovery before I changed them were leaving...

    Thank you!

Try this for Vista startup repair:

Download the ISO on the link provided and make a record of repair time it starts.

  • How dual boot Vista and Windows 7

I'm using vista Home premium and want to install windows 7 a.m. premium as a dual boot. If I decide later by far with windows vista and keep only 7 How can proceed?

Assuming that my OS is windows 7 can I use the same disk of vista on the virtual machine with the same product key.

Vista and 7 cannot exist on the same partition as a dual boot? How to do it.

Is ther to disadvantages in dual boot?

There are no real problems with dual boot if it's Setup corrrectly.

You need operating systems on separate partitions (readers not necessarily distinct, but definitely separate from the partitions).

If you uninstall Vista later and it's a copy to the details of the program, then you can install it in a virtual drive using the same product key (but you'll probably need to activate manually).

Here's how Dual boot Vista with Widows7: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/5166-dual-boot-installation-windows-7-vista.html.

Although written for other systems, the process to remove a dual boot will work with Windows7 and Vista (although you may need to use the commands and Windows7 disk): http://vistasupport.mvps.org/remove_windows_vista_from_dual_boot_system.htm depending on the situation and that was installed first.

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!
