  • Re: Problem with DVD in Satellite L655

I recently bought a Satellite L655 with windows7 operating system. When I insert a DVD, it is not recognized as a DVD, but rather a CD... and also not autoplayed for this reason.

I checked device drivers and it is not "yellow flag" and seems ok... but when I open 'my computer' icon, the optical drive is not listed in the removable drives like a DVD - RW, but rather 'CD Driver' label exists. I thought that the DVD drive driver is not installed and tried to find a driver for DVD RW but could not find. Then I removed the CD driver device drivers, restart the system and a CD driver is automatically installed immediately. but still no DVD is recognized.

Toshiba Tempro program don't recommend any missing driver. What should I do?

Thanks for the comments and useful links.

  • Problem with webcam not fixed with Vista SP1 on Portege M700

The Vista SP1 does nothing to the failure of Vista to recognize the built-in webcam Portege M700.
The existing forum thread mark this question as a response, despite the link to the document toshiba mentioning the error messages entirely different from those cited by those of us with problems

I find it strange that the M700 UK wouldn't have a built in webcam; is it really true?

    Hello

I noticed a problem with webcam in time early Vista release, but it was linked to the Vista OS stroller and was solved by SP1.

Sorry, but another problem with webcam into the unknown for me and as far as I know internal webcam works fine also on Portege M700.

As you already suggested the internal webcam is not available on all Portégé M700 series. Toshiba notebooks, any series, are equipped with different hardware specifications and example to the webcam internal, in the light of the webcam and internal microphone are available on some models.

Maybe no problem with a webcam, but some Portégé M700 does not really have an internal webcam ;)

  • PROBLEM WITH WEBCAM INSPIRON N4010

    Hello

My laptop inspiron and a half two years old is having problems with webcam.

The operating system can't detect the webcam. (Missing from Device Manager imaging devices). Of all the posts, I tried the following:

I ran the diagnostics of webcam (result: there is no device)

Updated the Dell webcam central software (displays the message: Plugin a device supported)

I tired the USB mouse thing. did not work.

I opened the window to check the webcam pcb and connections and everything seems to be intact.

I restored my PC to factory settings but the webcam is not started.

Tried to install the drivers, System Utilities, Chipset and Bios in the order given... but no help.

I intend to get an external webcam as a last resort to check if it works.

Any help is appreciated for this problem.

    Kind regards

    Christine

If you have re-installed your drivers and software and continue to receive indications that your built-in webcam is not connected, you will have a bad connection to the camera.  It's actually very easy to fix on a N4010, especially compared to the aggravation of the re-installation of software, etc.  Carefully lift the bezel around the screen.  Start on the left side by gently sliding your finger between the screen and the plastic you will hear clicks as it separates.  Work your way at the top, to the bottom of the slide to the right and down.  I found the corners a little stubborn, but do the sides front corners made it easy.  Be very careful around the hinges at the bottom, but it comes off.  Don't rush and do not pull more inch of the screen.  (If you use a search engine to search for "remove screen Inspiron N4010", it is an excellent video on it.)  (If you have webcam central open, your camera may come alive as soon as you lift the bezel on.) Once the bezel is disabled, you will see the camera at the top, with a small white connector on the right side of the lens. You'll hardly notice, but it's actually two parts of a connector, the male part below the part female, coming behind the screen.  I used a small flat screwdriver to push upward on the lower part, male connector, a gap of less than 1/32 ".  This solves the problem.

  • Satellite L300: Problem with webcam

Hello. Sorry for my English. I have a laptop Toshiba Satellite L300-w15
I have a problem with the webcam. Tried tons of different drivers. Official drivers from this web site, drivers by number of VID/PID... nothing helps. I think that someone has tried to change firmware on webcam and set bad firmware. Can you tell what webcam is installed on this laptop? Chicony? What model? Now, the web cam code is: USB\VID_0C45 & PID_62C0 & MI_00\6 & B22C026 & 1 0000
Search by this code, I realized it's webcam from another laptop, Toshiba l300... you can what can I do? Can I change firmware to normal? Where can I take it? For what sex cam should look for firmware...

Windows xp. tried to reinstall windows... nothing has changed

Can you please install original OS that you got with your laptop and check the webcam feature?
Or you got this cam without pre-installed software?
    > I think someone tried to change firmware on webcam and set the bad firmware
As far as I know Toshiba doesn't offer any firmware for cam, just pilot and Toshiba webcam application. No more than that.

What operating system do you use?
You have installed and configured? I ask this question because I don't understand how someone can have access to your laptop?

  • Problems with multitasking on Satellite Pro P200

I am the owner of a new Satellite Pro P200.
I use this laptop to use software such as photoshop, indesign, etc.

    * Now I have problems with multitasking! *
It is not possible to run 3 programs at the same time.
That I have to restart my laptop again and again.

Does anyone know what is the problem?
Can someone help me with this problem?

For two weeks I have P200D. I use it for work and use different applications at the same time. So far, everything is OK and I am very satisfied. Maybe you should try to optimize the operating system:
-remove all software, you do not need
-disable the startup of unnecessary software of automatic startup (MSCONFIG)
    -customize the appearance
-information on the open performance and Control Panel tools and use tasks on the left side to improve the performance of computer s

P200 is powerful enough and must be able to manage with a few applications running at the same time.

  • Webcam on Satellite L655 shows a very blurry picture

    Hi guys

I bought Toshiba Satellite L655-158 last Sunday. Just checked the webcam. Used via Skype and everyone complains about the quality of the image. I tried to use an another older Dell laptop on the same internet connection (because I know that could have been because of the internet connection speed), but the picture quality on this one was very good.

I'm tempted to return the laptop but I thought I'll check if there is a solution available on this forum.
    Thank you

Did you remove the protective foil of the cam?

  • Strange problem with ODD on Satellite A300

I have a TOSHIBA SATELLITE A300-1EC, since a few days.

Whenever I try to open a DVD or CD in the DVD drive, the disc is ejected.
Please let me know the possible reasons. I have to approach the seller for repair because it is covered by the warranty or is der the possible ways I can try myself to use the CD / DVD-ROM, I mean as in checking the drivers etc.*

    Best regards Mathew

Maybe you should offer the best explanation.

    Which player do you use?
What happens when you put the DVD movie in the DVD player and close it?
Usually, you should get the option to choose the player and after you click OK and film should start.
You have any problem with original CD music and DVD movies or perhaps some self-made media?

  • PCMCIA.sys problem with Vista on Satellite M40 135

    Hello

    (Sorry for my English)
I tried to install Windows Vista on my Satellite M40-135. (I added the 512 MB of RAM).

But, like all users, I have the problem with pcmcia.sys. Vista starts successfully when I delete the pcmcia.sys file.
But I have a problem: I have a PCMCIA TV and I could not use it without the pcmcia.sys file...

So I was wondering if Toshiba will download the new drivers for Windows Vista... This laptop is 'Vista capable' according to Microsoft System requirements...

    Waiting for your help...

Unfortunately, it seems that the snipe is right.
Can the hardware specifications of this laptop allows you to install the Vista
but it seems that Toshiba has decided to publish no Vista drivers for each series laptop.

In order to check this document:
    http://support.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/TSB7201SK002HR01.htm

Not seem that your laptop series is not part of the list

  • Problem with Webcam integrated on portege series

When I try to use the webcam, it comes up with the following error message:

"Open Webcam driver fail. Please restart camera or computer. »

I reinstalled the driver about 6 times, I uninstalled and tried to download at different Web sites. All have failed. The Camera Assistant Software does not open and no webcam or imaging device appears in Device Manager. I even tried to restore the laptop to factory settings and start again, but nothing helped.

I'm completely stuck. Can someone please help?

It's very strange. When you started your laptop for the first time have noticed some problems with the webcam feature?

Usually after using the clean OS installation delivered support recovery, all should work well.

  • Drive external HARD is compatible with eSata on Satellite L655-158

    Hello

I buy a L655-158 this weekend, I also intend to buy a Seagate external hard drive that fits the eSata using something like that: -.

"Times that are up to six times faster than with USB 2.0 powered Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex Upgrade Cable of eSATA transfer is designed to keep pace with you, to offer you!

With the Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex Powered eSATA upgrade Cable you can easily and inexpensively switch interface GoFlex and GoFlex Pro Ultra-Portable from your hard drive at speeds ultra-fast eSATA.

The FreeAgent GoFlex Powered eSATA upgrade Cable works with any port powered eSATA/USB combo, and is compatible with the ultraportable GoFlex and GoFlex Pro drives. Please note that it is not compatible with standard eSATA ports, not powered.

Take the time to transfer upward with the FreeAgent GoFlex Powered eSATA Cable upgrade to Seagate.

    General information
GoFlex connectors for eSATA/USB combo port
Other compatible with ultraportable GoFlex and GoFlex Pro readers. "

So, my question is the compatible adapter with eSata on the L655-158 port, is the powered port or not? If this is not the case, what are external drives others who enjoy the ease of eSata, and well what they are doing?

    Thanks in advance,

    Concerning

    Kevin

    Hello

    > So my question is the compatible adapter with the port eSata on the L655-158
There are just sort of eSATA port. If the external HARD disk supports eSATA interface so I guess you can connect this external HARD disk to the port eSATA to the Satellite L655-158

  • Problem with keyboard on Satellite L500-128

    Hi all

I'm having some problems with the keyboard on my Satellite L500-128 - essentially; 8, 9, i, o, k, l and comma and period keys do not work.

All other keys are working perfectly fine (I use an external keyboard if people wonder!)

I'm technically minded but I was wondering if its worth disassemble the laptop and have one eye or if someone has had this problem with this laptop before - or if someone has any ideas with what he could fix.

I tried to do a reset of the laptop (battery and pressing power button) I reinstalled the operating system, but the keyboard still has problems in the BIOS too.

    Hello

In my opinion and as suggested by Liam, it looks like a simple keyboard malfunction and to solve this problem, the keyboard needs to be replaced.

The Toshiba service in your country partner could replace the defective
Otherwise, you could try to replace it yourself, but if you are a beginner and if you have no experience, ask a support technician.
