Problems of paragraph CS4 styles

I had weird problems with paragraph styles in InDesign CS4, I've not had in CS2. The first weird problem that happened in a class project where somehow a style is stuck in the head of the program, so to speak, and any model, I try to apply by default to that stuck. It still occurs in that particular file, no matter what I try. The "blocked" style is actually not one of the styles that I ended by definition, so it must have been a point I tried to a certain point and then discarded. I tried to remove completely all the styles and start over, I tried to 'Break link to Style' before then trying to apply one of my styles... I always get stuck style.

Then, I experiment me in a test document, with styles of work the way they are supposed to have SOME success and ran across another small problem: when I select a number of paragraphs to apply a numbered list, the numbers appear as they should. Then I click on the icon of the new style at the bottom of the styles palette to create a style based on that and the style label 'Style of paragraph 1' appears in the palette. As soon as I click on this style to open dialogue to rename it, all the numbers change to '1 '. And then if I try to apply the style to another series of selected paragraphs, they all are numbered '1' also. It works this way any numbering system, I use... all 'A' or 'I' or other.

I already tried to uninstall and reinstall InDesign without result. I also tried to reset the InDesign preferences. I am unfortunately the glitchy things with Photoshop CS4 also experience. I have a fairly new iMac 24 "2.8 GHZ Intel Core 2 Duo with 4 G of Ram and running OSX 10.5.6. I bought the software supplied with the Design Premium Suite.

The first problem is probably caused by your having a character applied to the text style. This can simplify the application of really confusing paragraph styles. Try now Option and shift keys when you click on the name of the paragraph style.

The numbering problem is caused by your expects too much of a unique style. You have the style defined to start numbering at 1 instead of continuing from the previous. You can get with a unique on the latter if you never want to restart page numbering in a second list. But if you must restart a list then you will need at least two, one to start the numbering and the other to continue.

There was a numbering of discussions here on these two topics.

    Problems opening AE CS4 in AE CS6. I recently tried to open a model bought CS4 and masks are removed, the music does not play, and the size of the exported file is huge. I also get a popup when opening older files that said "Adobe After Effects: the project must be converted from version 9 (Windows) and opens as an untitled project.» The original file will be unchanged. "The model developer seems a complex like me. • CS6 ePub "document Split: from paragraph tags Style Export.

    I tried to find how to set the Option Export ePub "document Split: from paragraph tags Style Export" using javascript. It doesn't seem to be part of the epubExportPreferences, as

    myDocument.epubExportPreferences.breakDocument = true;

    Sets the stop on [standard paragraph] document. I can change it for another single paragraph quite easily, but not what I need.

    I'm probably looking in the wrong place, but if someone could point me in the right direction, I would be very grateful.

    My code is here (that works, but does not define this option): https://github.com/makeBetterEBooks/eprdctn/BLOB/master/DBW_ePubExport.jsx

    Thank you!

    I found the answer earlier, but thought I'd post here for those seeking on the other.

    You must set the name of style paragraph to an empty string:

    myDocument.epubExportPreferences.breakDocument = true;

    myDocument.epubExportPreferences.paragraphStyleName = "";

    Then it will break on the plates for export.

  • Generate list of a document text paragraph/character styles?

    Hello. Does anyone know how to generate a list from a text paragraph/character styles?

    Nothing at all? Use a script! This JavaScript does the trick:

    myFile = File.saveDialog("Store this data, where?", "Plain text:*.txt");
    if (myFile == null)
     exit(0);
    myFile = File(myFile.fsName);
    myFile.open("w");
    myFile.writeln ("Character styles");
    myFile.writeln ("================");
    for (a=1; a

    Copy, paste it into a text editor (the editor ESTK which accompanies your InDesign is good). Save it as "storeStyles.jsx" in your Script file. When recording in the right place, it appear automatically in the actions panel. Double-click it to run it.

    Both character and paragraph style tables start the counter to 0, but the first character style is always "[None]", and the first paragraph of the styles are always "[None]" and "[standard paragraph].

  • Problem activation of CSS styles

    Hello
    I'm just getting started with ice and so far it seems that this will be a nice way to let some customers to edit their own content without "breaking" the design. However, I'm running a problem activating the CSS styles.

    My site is a php site and I use includes for the top of the page, stylesheet, etc. on each page. Dreamweaver, think, therefore, there is no style sheet linked to the page because the link is contained in understand it.

    Is it possible to implement the styles in a style sheet included in an include file is recognized by the ice?

    Ellie

    I figured out what to do...

    The first thing was to put the link in the header of the include file and add:

    Ice: class = "" * "for the link CSS settings."

    The second thing I did was to change the definition of the styles of

    Element.Class {style} .class {style}

    I'm guessing that the ice cannot see that general classes and not the classes that apply to specific items. An example is that in my original CSS file, I had

    IMG.hilight_img {border :...}

    When I chose the IMG I wanted to apply the style to in ice, without styles available appears. However when I changed my CSS definition:

    .hilight_img {border :...}

    Then was able to apply the style to my image in Ice I noted, however, that the ICE has not added the class "hilight_img" in the IMG tag. Instead, it creates a span around the image and applied to that class. Not ideal, but the result has worked.

  • Problems with paragraph styles in CS4?

    Let me start by saying that I recently switched from Quark, so I'm really a newbie in InDesign. I was watching videos as much as possible, but can't seem to find the answers to questions like that.

    I've been taking the old brochures that have been created in ID3 and sticky type and pictures in a new format that has been created in ID4. The new format has already created with the update fonts and other formatting paragraph styles as well.

    When I circulate in all the new type and click the style sheet, it does not change the correct font type and size, but there is in the paragraph of formats that are not updated. For example: the whole paragraph (according to the applied style) should be the book of Gotham, but even after you apply the style to it, part of it remains "BOLD" Gotham. He has been "BOLD" in the previous version of the document, but must be regular in this one.

    Why, when I apply the style, it does not the whole paragraph?

    I can think of a few possibilities, but the I would like to write specific instructions vary from one case to another. The find/replace menu is invaluable here. I could find everything he scored with a given character style and replace [none], replace by other layout specified shape or replace with a different character style that I could then remove. Note that when you delete a character style, you can choose to replace it with a different style of character or to preserve formatting after the character style has disappeared.

  • Problem with paragraph styles.

    Hello

    I'm having a problem with a site paragraph styles. I created and applied h1, h2 tags etc. to help SEO and everything seemed to work very well so I went to other areas of the site. To revise accordingly the site I decided I want to change some of the tags, however paragraph styles, I created have disappeared since the paragraph style window.

    The problem I have now is that when I write the site the tags are still there in the html code. Is there a way to restore the paragraph currently on a site styles in the paragraph styles selection window?

  • Problem of paragraph Styles

    I made a mistake. When creating new paragraph Styles, I did not notice that InDesign automatically adds a parameter ' based on ' on its own logic, although more precisely, I clicked on the icon "create a new Style".

    Now I can't change settings (fine adjustment) of a Style, because it affects the others. Is there a way I can "decouple" all relationships between all the paragraph Styles, while having them retain their characteristics of current, regardless if they are inherited or original.

    Yes - you should be able to replace the value "based on" [no paragraph Style] and it will keep your settings.

  • Problem deleting paragraph styles

    I have a book with five documents inside. I am trying to remove the paragraph styles, but they won't go away. I continue to remove them from one of the documents, can I make the source of the document style, to synchronize other documents with her, and styles keep reappear. I tried to do with different documents, but I always get the same result.

    Synchronization book removes the styles only adds.

    Simply open each file (only 5 of them) and dissolving styles... they are used somewhere in the darkness.

    (2) that the above-mentioned tax or any tax in the form of rights of succession or inheritance tax is payable in respect of shares, debentures or other obligations of the company.

    Example: (end)

    I had a lot of subjects or points in the passage. And I want to change the space between '(g)' and 'Management' in a tab character. So I revised the plain text file 1texte.

    (^?) ^ tManagement

    (^?) ^ tthat any law that is passed in the Cayman Islands, imposing a tax on profits, income, not capital gains or satisfaction applies to the company or its activities. and

    (^?) ^ tthat the above-mentioned tax or any tax in the form of rights of succession or inheritance tax is payable in respect of shares, debentures or other obligations of the company.

    PS: ^ t is a tab character.

    Loads a series of strings delimited by tab characters from a text file, and then executes a series
    Find/replace operations based on the lines read from the file.

    The data file is delimited by tabs, returns to cart that separates records.

    The format of each record in the file is:

    //
    Where:
    < tab > is a tab character
    findType is 'text', 'grep' or 'glyph' (this sets the find/replace operation type to use).
    findProperties is a recording of properties (text) search preferences.
    changeProperties is a recording of properties (text) of the change preferences.
    findChangeOptions is a recording of properties (text) of the options find/replace.

    Very simple example:
    text {findWhat: "-"} {changeTo: "^ _"} {includeMasterPages:true, includeHiddenLayers:true, includeFootnotes:true, wholeWord:false} find all double hyphens and replace by an em dash.
    //
    More complex example:
    text {findWhat: ' ^ 9 ^ 9.} {' ^ 9 ^ 9 '} {appliedCharacterStyle: 'price'} {include notes: true, include master pages: true include hidden layers: true, any word: false} find $ 10.00 to $ 99.99 and apply the character style 'price '.

    I'm not a writer, but I'll take a stab and try to make a difference here.

    The main problem, in my opinion, is that you use a plain text instead of GREP search. Text gross has no provision to replace the text found by itself, for example, rather than using the codes you entered a literal string. Your search text of ' ^ p(^?) ' means find any character in brackets that occurs after a paragraph break. I would use in GREP ^ \s+ (\(.+?\)) which translates to find an opening parenthesis at the beginning of a paragraph (so he'll find if it happens to be the first character in th in a story) followed by a number any characters up to the first parenthesis (in the case where you have double the figures or double entries letter) followed by ANY white space (in the case where it is not an ordinary space or multiple spaces). Replace $1\t which means the text found in the first set of parentheses in query search followed by a tab.

    Parentheses are special in GREP, they surround groups of terms you want to re-use the text found, so looking for the actual characters you need to 'escape' with the-prefix, so \(.+\) will find a paren open followed by all the characters up to the end last paren in the paragraph. Addition of the? After the + makes research stop at the first closing paren met, although there are several sets in the paragraph.

  • InDesign CS4 style sheets

    Hi all

    I was trained on indesign, but my current employer, using quark 6.  We have recently upgraded to the suite cs4 and I find myself building again in indesign. Yay!

    My question is, if I know how to define paragraph styles, these seem to only apply to your page current and not defer on all other pages. As we build each page in a separate document, we have the habit of using a stylesheet with quark.  I can't for the life of me remember if there is a way to make a generalized stylesheet that can be applied to multiple documents using indesign.

    Anyone can shed some light on this?

    No points are awarded for saving lives, to solve problems and answer questions.

    InDesign styles can be loaded from one document to the other. (Search for help for the styles of load).

    InDesign styles can be synchronized across multiple documents in a book, based on one of the book documents. (Looking for help to synchronize).

    You can create a document with the styles and other items as the master pages, variables, arrays, etc., then save it as a template. Open the template and save it as a new document for each new page you create. (Help for model search).

  • Paragraph exporting styles does not correctly

    The paragraph style seems well in the layout design in Muse, but once I have "Export as HTML" in a folder, or I saw the page within the Muse, he loses the style. This particular model is used throughout the site, but it happens randomly and not all pages are made.

    I use the latest version of Muse (2015.2). Here is an example page where the paragraph style is lost:

    http://www.healthylearn.com/portal/color-your-diet.html

    Same style applied on this page (see the text of bullet) and seems correct:

    http://www.healthylearn.com/portal/an-easy-guide-for-healthy-eating.html

    Each paragraph style applies only to the text frame. Thus, several styles are not used in the text.

    I disabled "Edition In-Browser" by another comment on this forum, I created a new paragraph style, and replaced by the current, I tried to copy and paste the text into a new text frame and no luck.

    Any ideas/suggestions? Thank you in advance.

    Hello

    It seems that the paragraph on this sample page also has "Boxed text" applied. What is a paragraph style or a character style? If it is a character style, could temporarily remove you it (style of character set to None) and see if that fixes the problem?
