Problems of restoration of multiple catalogs

I have a new computer with Windows 8.1. I use Elements 9. I have 5 catalogs, each containing about 150 GB. Backups of these catalogues are all on an external hard drive. I've restored 2 catalogues to date. The first catalogue restored very well, when I restored the 2nd catalog, all the thumbnails load correctly, but when I click on the first catalogue, he said that no files are. I used the Browse button and managed to find and load the first catalogue. But then when I tried to go back to the 2nd catalog, I had navigate to a separate location to find this one. Somehow, I think that catalogues restored in 2 different folders. That they are listed in the catalog as a Manager in a custom location.

Also, all my files on my hard drive, but instead of loading all the files together, the first catalogue records are in a section, there is one less than that I have to open to view the folders of the catalogue of the second.

How can I get catalogs back in the same location, and how do I get the files on my disk hard so that I can see them without having to open the 2 different folders?

Help!

The restore process allows you to choose to restore to the same location or a "custom" location If you restore on a computer or another drive, it is necessarily a "custom" location

Why? because the data in the catalogue identifies the disc by its letter AND its serial number. A new drive is considered to be different, so that the location of your media files in the database is no longer valid. Your files would be considered 'missing' or 'disconnected' If you chose to restore to the "same" location Thus, the restoration must be in a "custom" directory This process allows the database was updated with the new location of the media files.

In catering to the localization process "custom", the catalog folder itself is also in the "custom location" instead of the default location of the catalog (catalogue available to all users).

If you are restoring multiple catalogs, you have to choose the various records of masters for the "custom" location Then, media files and the catalog for each restoration folder are under their own master file.

If you want to restore your media files for the different catalogues under the same master file, you will have problems like what you have experienced. My advice would be:

-the first catalogue of restoration

-Use Catalog Manager with the catalogue 'move' option to move the first catalogue 'catalogs accessible to all users' place 'custom '.

-restore the second catalog in the same master folder.

-move the catalog as above

- and so on for each catalog.

Furthermore, your experience shows why it is highly recommended to keep that one catalog.

  • URL of default product in case of multiple catalogs

I have a strange situation with a configuration of ecommerce.

Customer has a product in the two catalogues. One for the general public and the other for wholesalers (behind a secure area).

The URL of the product are so something like:

    in line-shop/sub-sub-catalog/product-name

    and

    wholesalers/sub-sub-catalog /-name of the product

Now, on the public site, they have a product that has the above designated product as a Up-Sell/Cross sell related products.

The problem is that BC renders the URL of wholesalers for this product when it is listed as a related product, so public users get a page access denied when you click on this product.

I first thought that affecting the canonical URL to the URL of the public catalogue will arrange but it had no effect.

BC seems to use the latest catalogue (in alphabetical order) which is attributed to the product as the default URL.

So the only way I can see to resolve this is to rename catalogs to change the alpha order - but is obviously not if possible.

(but then the wholesale customers will have something similar, though not as bad)

I don't think that we can access the different product URLS via module_data / liquid and adjust the product URL programmatically assimilated? or can we?

Can't think of a way to solve this problem?

I have the same problem. Upsell-Cross sell products jumping around to one of multiple catalogs not the value default language (or the top of the list).

Links get generated by the present: the displayed catalog would be chosen on the ID account less.

  • Restore a backup catalog

    Hello

I'm trying to restore my LR4 catalog from a backup and spin on an issue that I hope that none of the experts here can advise me on. Here are the details.

-Lightroom installed on the main drive of Windows 7 - C:

-Collection of photos all stored in a separate internal hard drive - F:

-Catalogue LR4 backed up on an external drive.

I had to reset my C: drive to the factory status, wiping out all of my installed programs. After the reset, I had to reinstall my secondary HARD drive and it has been recognized by Win7 with a problem. It is now listed as E: instead of F:.

After the reinstallation of Lightroom, I copied my backup of the catalog in the folder appropriate and launched LR. He recalled the catalogue without problem, but could not find one of my photos! Is there a way to tell Lightroom where they are all rather than re-import them? The photos are all in the same location as before. The only change is the F: to E: drive letter.

I tried to go into Windows and change the letter E: back by F: drive but Windows will not let me F: name for some reason any.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

First: don't forget reimport. You would lose all your changes. Importation is strictly only for images that were never imported before.

The cure for the 'missing' photos is to add a link to them.

In Lr / grid view right-click the first file in the files Panel. By "higher", I mean the parent of files of all folders. If you have several folder right click on one of them.

Then select , place you in the folder corresponding to your new drive E and select it. Do this for every other parent folder. If the names of folders and the structure has not changed Lr you can find the sub files on its own.

  • Help restore the backup catalog

    Hello

PSE made a mess on the dates of my video clips in the Organizer (who is the subject of another thread). Before you perform a full restore of my backup months old, I want to restore ONLY the catalog it (not the image files) and do coexist with my current messed up catalog. This way I can see if the problem is in the database or in files of video clips.

I would like to know what files I have to leave my set to my catalog restored backup to work. To prepare for this post, I looked at help | Info by the system to search for the location of the folder that contains the current catalog. Inside this folder there are some subfolers and some files as follows:

    Subfolders:

    breezeData

    CAXMPFiles

    Style

    SyncDB

    Files:

    backupCt.dat

    Catalog.pse8db

    collstatus.dat

    Thumb.5.cache

    Watch.2.cache

((1) which files I have to restore and 2) where should I place them so that the restored catalog works properly?

Because the restored catalog will have the same name as my current, how can I open it in the Organizer without deleting the current?

It seems that the catalog file is not the name of the catalog itself, as it was a few versions ago. For example, my catalogue is called "My catalog", but the database file is named "catalog.pse8db".

Remember I want to ONLY restore the catalog database; not the actual image files.

    Thank you for your help

The entire folder containing the "catalog.pse8db" represents the appropriate catalog.  The name of the folder gives the name of the catalog. You can restore this folder anywhere you want, but it can be convenient to restore in the same parent folder containing your current catalog file (help > System Info to find this place).

A shortcut that is convenient to open any catalog is double-click on "catalog.pse8db" of Windows Explorer.

If you are synchronizing with Photoshop.com, remember to turn off sync from the opening of the restored catalog.  Otherwise confusion might ensue.

  • the catalog vs. multiple catalogs

I am kind of new to lightroom. My question is I have all my photos in a catalog, which seems to be OK, but I have 4000 + photos and many more to be added. What are the pros and cons to one against multiple catalogs?

I am using several keywords and color and other markings.

    Thank you

There is much to say on this issue, and the debate festers sometimes... but I highly recommend a catalogue.

In my opinion, the more photos you have, the more important thing is to keep your entire organization in a catalog. Anything else translates into confusion, where you do not remember what catalog has the photo of interest; or she translates into obstacles, you want a picture of the catalog and a couple of photos of the catalog B and a little more than catalogue Q, and there is no easy way to put them all together.

I point out that I agree with John, and I added another exception to his list: If you have COMPLETELY overlapping subject (as from personal photos and company photos) and there is no chance of confused you that catalog Christmas family photos are, then go and separate the business of work (but nevertheless, there are drawbacks If you are not careful you can accidentally import personal pictures in the catalogue of the company and vice versa)

  • Problem of restoration of pictures on hard drive

    Greetings, all,.

I recently had to use Time Machine to restore my images in several files located in the "masters of lightroom" in my pictures folder. Everything looks fine according to the Finder, but when I look for files in LR CC, the "masters of lightroom" are marked as being empty. Especially since, under "all photographs", all 912 images are displayed, but they are all intelligent previews. There is no question mark, so I don't think they should be re-related. Also "show pictures in subfolders is clicked on. Any suggestions on how can I fix?

Thanks, dj. I think that the problem is resolved. I went back and re

  • restored my tags catalog not listed and not correct records info

I'm a long-time user PES.  I am the PSE 14 running 64-bit Windows 10.  I have a new PC and just restored my computer to the new catalog.  Old and new PC use even of PES and Windows.  PSE thumbnails appear in the media with my tags window in the corner and seem to be in the correct file structure.  I use images > Images > annually (2002-2015).

Problems seem to be with folder windows and tag.  No tag not listed in the right column and the folders on the left do not match my folder list.  An example is

10 10 2015 Nashville.  The files are simply incorrect.  The photos show tags.

I've heard of this issue, but I don't know how to fix it.  Help will be appreciated.

This can be important for my problem of catalog above.  I just found in the Adobe help that "you must be logged on to the computer by using the same user name as the old computer.  When I put my new computer my username sort is listed incorrectly.  I've always had my (Barb) name as my username.  Somehow when I set up the new computer my user name was modified by another name (roadt).  I did not notice it for a few days.  I couldn't figure out how to change it to Barb and now my file structure is not the same as it was in the old computer.  This can be done how the catalog has been managed.

  • Try to upgrade a PES 10 catalog Lightroom CC - problem: conversion file path problem [was: upgrade Photoshop elements catalog]

    Update 20150707:

So I think I found the reason for the problem:

About 60% of my files in my catalog of PES 11 are converted (or probably better: "sent") to Lightroom with a double slash "/ /" in the path of the file.

This looks like: D:/photos/ /Keep, albums, 2002, 200212 < the rest of the way is OK >...

Lightroom complains that it cannot find the file on the disk, probably because of the double slash.

With more than 4,000 theses error Lightroom core dumps with a buffer overflow, probably due to the large number of error messages. Cup of the catalogue of PES 11 decline little by little I managed to identify the cause.

The problem is that my PES 11 catalog is repaired, optimized and PES 11 think that the file is in the correct location and can open and edit it.

So what do I do to make the two programs to understand each other with their file name conventions? ... or how to get rid of the second crime "/"?

    Thank you

    Thomas

    ---

    Good afternoon

I'm trying to upgrade a PES 10 catalog Lightroom (Lightroom details below) CC - both on Windows 8.1 (details below as well)

There are about 30,000 photos in the catalogue of PES 10. Import runs for awhile then LR CC shows a short message that it could not import all of the photos and then it is intercepted by a Windows operating system message that indicates «Lightroom has stopped working...» »

He has imported about 3,500 photos and converted all the photos of Collections, but also in the tree of the key.

    I tried the following:

    (in PES 11)

    • optimized and repaired the catalog
    • removed all files types that LR does not support
    • removed all media offline

    (in LR cc)

    • Tried running in different compatibility modes
    • Tried running in administrator mode
    • Temporarily disabled any antivirus software

I run LR CC successfully with a new catalog and it behaved very well through all operations. TI ROM dumps on the conversion of this catalogue. Importing photos from the catalogue above works fine hierarchy; just that it loses the key word and obviously knows no collections.

Is there any log file indicating the element involved the conversion?

I have to say that I love LR after a period of three weeks of the trial, but I'm not really ready to let go hold on 90% of my data meta at this stage.

    Best

    Thomas

    Comments:

The double slash ' \ ' in the path appears to be introduced with the upgrade to PSE10. I can't say how it happened, but there were about 27,000 files connected by an access path "D:\pictures\\album\portrait\image_1.jpg".

Fortunately, I worked with this database, as in fact all files could be catalogued, modified, opened with the editor. I checked from time to time for "Missing files" and none has been identified. After I discovered the problem during the conversion of catalogue Lr, I checked the display "File Location" and none of the files with the double slash are recognized as part of the catalog. I could import into the catalog of the "location of the folder" producing duplicates:

    'D:\pictures\\album\portrait\image_1.jpg '.

    'D:\pictures\album\portrait\image_1.jpg '.

live happily next to each other.

I could "move" the wrong file in the thumbnail view in its original, which corrects the incorrect path. But as my collection is well distributed on a large directory structure and there is no way to sort way "thumbnail" it would be a never-ending task.

Here are the steps I took to fix the problem. It was not as simple as it sounds by

now and took a lot of trial and error for weeks.

    1. I made a backup of the catalog PSE10 ("File-> backup catalog..") hard disk
    2. I have 'removed' photos from their original location, so that they could not be found (as I had a distinct data reader, I just removed the drive letter in the Windows Disk Management Console)
    3. I restored the backup PSE10 ("File-> Restore Catalog... "), choose 'new place' and placed in the root of a different drive. If you do not have a spare laptop drive, you can use the "subst q: ; I had hoped to keep the structure of the root, it is easier for the PSE10 to reconnect files later, but I can't confirm that it makes a difference.
    4. After restoring PSE10 complained (thankfully!) could not find any files (27,000) with double '-', so, unlike the situation at the beginning, I could now chose "file-> reconnect-> all missing files. He tried to find the files, but he could not find them in the area returned after searching for 5 minutes for the first file. Then I reconnected a file manually and restarted the process and after 1 h PSE10 had reconnected all files without any problems, and the images appeared as well in the 'file location' display.
    5. As I wanted my files in their original location, I "return" the files in their original location by moving them in the 'File location' view, which took another 3 hours.
    6. As I was not very confident with the whole process ensuring all files have actually been part of this process, I closed 10 PSE and "reinstalled" my original tree together file pictures of the "retired" location (step 2) after you delete the files moved PSE10.
    7. I grew up PSE10 and checked for missing files, everything was still connected.
    8. Finally I re-imported the tree of the original files 'reinstalled' together again to see if something is missed, but all files have been correctly identified as duplicates. The final step was to validate "File Location" view, where are the files appears in the tree structure tight.

Then, I did what I wanted finally to update the catalogue of PSE10 to LR6 and it worked without any problems take images and metadata across.

    Fact.

    A plea to Adobe...

I think it would be a great idea to publish catalogues different proprietary formats (PES / LR). This

cannot be that difficult because you must have appropriate documentation. In this case the problem could be

solved with double '-' setting programmatically. If you think that your customers entrust their digital

assets on your cloud, some "opening" your end would be just one...

  • Best way to restore the corrupt catalog

The catalogue was apparently corrupted in PSE 12 when I tried to move some items from C on an external drive, and the program crashed during this process.  The last backup in PSE has been about 3 weeks ago.  I also have a backup car for a few days before failure 'move' files Acronis of C.

I discovered the problem when you try to run a new full backup: he obtained 76% after 18 hours and created a partial backup of 759 GB more.  The previous backup was only 309 GB.   There were not more than 2 GB of the additions since the last backup.  The only other change I know is the failed 'move' files within the PES of C on the external drive where all other photo files.

Should I try to simply copy and paste the version the catalog Acronis and replace the corrupted catalog?  Or do I restore previous backup of PES?

The 'move' failure plant generally not the Organizer. You can check who is a 'movement' of the first Organizer to copy files to the destination drive or a master folder and creates a datasheet to update the database. If the copy process succeeds, then the original photos are deleted and the catalogue updated. If the Organizer not crushed, the result will be a library partly copied, but no change to the catalog. In your case, we can not be sure what happened to the database. As you may have to try a backup, the catalog was usable, but there is a mystery about the 759 GB instead of 309. I guess you already tried 'compensation even when' for the catalog.

I would first check that the files you want to move have not really moved, and that only a part of them was copied on the destination disk.

If this is the case, I delete copies (or move them to another locotion than your target location).

The next step would be to restore the Acronis backup catalog. Remember that the catalog is all the folder containing the database, catalog.pse12db. You can choose to restore to the original location or elsewhere. If outside, double-click the catalog.pse12db file to open the organizer with the Acronis catalog on.

    Report on your progress...

  • Restoration of the catalogs on a new computer and the version of Photoshop Elements

I have Photoshop Elements 8 and first Elements 8 installed on my computer. The operating system is Windows 7 64-bit.

I have a problem not solved with print JPEG images in Photoshop Elements 8. If I do not adjust the date in the file image before I print crashes of Photoshop Element. I have no problem with Premiere Elements. I have no problem printing JPEG images, which is open a RAW Edition. No time adjustment is necessary in this case.

This isn't a question about the printing problem on which I gave a solution. However, thanks to all that gave some ideas, however.

I tried everything, including asking for help on the forum of Adobe, but without success. I decided on a drastic measure. I'll remove Photoshop Elements 8 from my computer, but not first Elements 8 and delete all images in photo of the computer also. I backed everything up. I hope that should leave me with a computer on which no trace of Photoshop Elements 8 or my photos. Then I'll install 10 items and restore my catalogues from my backup. I hope that let the printing problem.

    Here's my question.

When I restore my Photoshop Elements 10 catalogs this procedure will restore not only my images, but also my albums and tags etc that I had created in version 8?

Thanks to all those who can help you.

Make sure you use PSE8 backup function to save your photos and catalog.

This Adobe document explains how to manually remove PSE8:

    http://kb2.Adobe.com/CPS/826/cpsid_82673.html

When you reach the point of having PSE10 to restore from your backup, you will have the opportunity to tell PSE where to put the pictures in incoming.  You will also see your albums & tags, because they are stored in the catalog (database) which is restored.

  • Problems after restoration

I just got a 5 s Iphone I restored it from a backup of my Iphone 4 and everything said this worked.

The phone has all my data but when I stop and start up it goes through Setup all over again

asking English this and asking where to restore them again.

Can someone please try to help me?

    Thank you

To exclude a software problem, have you ever tried to return to factory settings, without using the most recent backup data?

Your backup can contain damaged data, causing your problems.

Use iTunes to restore your device to factory settings - Support Apple iOS

If the factory reset does not help, get the phone checked by Apple:

    Launch a service request

Find an Apple authorized service provider

Make an appointment at the Apple Store

  • Problem weird again with multiple entries of each album and artist

For some reason, itunes suddenly began to create an element for each song I download, whether it's an album there or by an artist that I have. I was able to correct some of them harassing again and again with the sorting, but most of the time, it creates just an additional entry! I have about 20 different Manic Street Preachers who come upward (my group preferred so many downloads). How can I fix! Very annoying!

If iTunes displays multiple instances of an artist or an album then generally what works is to select all the associated tracks and use read the information to add say an end X for each of the areas of the slopes have in common:

    • For an album. Album, Album artist, and artist (if the artist is the same for all tracks) *
    • For an artist; Album artist (and the artist unless there are comments/featured artists listed which should not be changed)

Apply the change which merges things together, then remove the excess characters. Occasionally, it can help to close and reopen iTunes between two renaming operations.

    * If the titles must be synchronized to a non - iOS device, there should be a common artist or the album must be defined as a Compilation.

Use the view of songs and display fields, Album, genre, Album, Album artist, genre artist Album, artist and genre artist side by side to see you whether or not it is necessary to change the artist and if sorting values could be the cause of additional problems. See grouping in albums, titles for help if necessary.

Another tip duplicates stubborn reality. I had three batches of various artists in the view of artists in my iTunes game library the other day that would not respond to usual treatment X back. What I found worked was adding the final X, but with each group, iTunes wanted to separate start typing a value and let iTunes autocomplete of the Var... for various artists. Collection of AutoComplete lists seemed to work when the full value of collage/montage does not.

  • Problems of restoration of iOS

    Hey there ' All,.

Finally got a new replacement for my iPhone after the debacle 6s of all #iOS93... I won't get into it.  in any case, try to restore my backup and I am having a difficult time, reinstall the applications through my light cable. New cable and totally up-to-date software... but I'm looking at icons in gray. It sync several times, and still not all of my apps work.

What is the problem... a backup should never be this hard. Very frustrating!

If you use an iTunes backup, you will have a problem with applications through a feature called app clarified. This may give you problems because applications is no longer transfer from your phone to your computer, iTunes so impossible to restore these apps on a phone that has not already been installed. You must undo the restore and download all the apps you want on your phone or in iTunes, then restore again. If you have a backup of iCloud, you can use instead and you do not experience this problem.
