Problems of router, switch, and WAP.

I have a router Wrt400n, a WAP610n and a couple of switches EZXS55W.  I've implemented the rounter connected routers to him cheating.  I have about 6 PC tips and video games wired to the switches.  When I connect wap to one of the switches, some time later my entire network loses the connection with the internet and the only way to fix it is to disconnect the wap and reboot the router.  I have the configuration of the route with dhcp and have given an ip address for the WAP as 1.99 to get him out of the side of the dhcp range.  I only did the 1.99 recently becuaes nothing else has worked.  with on wap everything works fine.  Help, please.  I use wap to extend the wifi at home.

Fixed.  I had to book the IP of the GPA in the rounter and and set the WAP at this static IP address.  This isn't a requirment in the manual, but it doesn't work any other way.

  • Problems with connecting fiber and new router AirPort

I installed the fiber optic connection to replace my cable modem connection... I have a network of airport for a long time. When I bridge router ISP in my airport network that there are multiple problems. The major is that when you plug the ethernet cable from the modem ISP Ethernet port on the WAN of Timecapsule port all the TC LAN ports go dead. (the ISP's modem has already a cable ethernet in the WAN port or the first port that comes from the optical network Terminal that the fiber optic cable to connect from the outside). I talked to the ISP and they say just use any ethernet port to connect to the WAN port on the TC. On their end, they say everything is connected and works... then it's the Apple... I bought a new TC and changed my ethernet cables, but all I can establish is a wireless network. My network is itinerant and all of my extremes are connected with cables, but all on my main TC LAN ports are dead. I rebuilt my network and the same problem... And I think that the culprit is ports LAN TC is off

Unfortunately, Apple has designed their routers airport to work with a standard cable and DSL type connections. The fiber is a whole new game ball, and Apple has not yet learned the rules of the game, so you may or may not have a really hard question.

When you plug the ethernet cable from the modem ISP Ethernet port on the WAN of Timecapsule port all the TC LAN ports go dead.

Before you connected to the fiber "modem" Time Capsule, did first reset you back to default settings... and then... set up again I hope to work with the fiber optic router?

If this isn't the case, you need to do whenever you change providers or the modem that the Time Capsule connects to.

All other devices that might be connected to the time Capsule should be turned off and unplugged.

Then, if the time Capsule can be configured to work with the "modem" fiber, you can connect devices to the time Capsule one at a time to ensure that each of them is working before connect you to the other.  It may be necessary to reconfigure some or all devices that are connected to the time Capsule so that everything works again.

Bottom line here... get the time Capsule working first with the "to modem" fibers.  Then start to add other devices to time Capsule one at a time.

  • MAC address filtering problem with router DI-624 and printer HP D110

Just got the wireless D110 printer and cannot connect to the wireless router.

    I have a D - Link DI - 624 Air Plus Xtreme G 2 .4GHz Wireless Router.

The error message I get from the printer, it's that "address filtering Mac can be activated on your wireless router. This can prevent your HP printer to connect to your network without wire during installation... etc. ".

The D-Link is configured with WPA - PSK security. If I disable all the security the wireless printer is able to connect. I can't connect the printer to the wireless router with WPA - PSK or WEP same active. There is no connection with the electrician the printer and the router.

I have connected the router Admin and have repeatedly confirmed that Mac filtering is turned off by going to Advanced Options > Filters > filters Mac > and choose disabled Mac filters. Where is this setting? Why is not able to connect printer?

In addition, I check the logs on the router and it shows "Wireless PC connected" and "Authentication successful" with a note that has the Mac address of the corresponding hardware address mac hardware of the printer on the wireless network Test report. It seems that the router is to let printing but the printer is not able to communicate for some reason any. It even shows under status > wireless printer is connected.

When I talked to HP, they said to contact the router company and they couldn't help. When I called D-Link, they said technical support is no longer available for the model. I am stuck, can anyone help?

Windows XP, tried the front of the printer and USB connection and using the software.

After a few hours on the phone with the D-Link and HP, the problem has been resolved.

Apparently, even if that Mac filtering is disabled (set to disabled MAC filters), the Mac address had to enter the router to enable all keeping off Mac filter setting. To me he appeared in the counter intuitive to enter the Mac address, while set to disabled the Mac filter so I wasn't that before picking up the phone with HP. Further on this point, the problem is not going away right after adding the mac address, but rather after the reboot of the router, such as the addition of mac address did not effect, without a reboot of the device.

HP has been much more useful than a D-Link on it, although it would be nice for HP to add to their instructions and Test report of wireless network to add the Mac address, just in case. I would have tried this step if it has stated that it is acceptable to add the mac address and keep the mac filters disabled.

  • How to distinguish the physical interface and logic (subinterface) interface to the Cisco router/Switch?

    Hi Expert,

How to distinguish the physical interface and logic (subinterface) interface to the Cisco router/Switch? Can you please clarify a formal way for this so have?

A physical interface is numbered with the same name of the interface when printing on the physical port. For example "GigabitEthernet 0/1" corresponds to port 1 of the 0 module (or the base unit).

A logical interface can be a subinterface on a routed port and will have a point ("". "") preceding the number sous-interface (ex. GigabitEthernet 0/1.1). It can also be a loop or a virtual interface (on a router this could also include interfaces like the tunnel and virtual tunnel or VTI types). A switch may also have a VLAN logical interfaces (e.g. interface vlan 1) which are used as layer 3 virtual interfaces of type.

  • No "ip Routing" command on the switch and still intervlan routing.

    Hello

In my companies 4500 switch I see there is intervlan routing configured for 4 VLANS there but I don't see any command "ip Routing" on this subject

to enable routing on the switch. A switch can route the same if the command is not there?

  • Problem with routing/circuits between SG300-10 and Dell Powerconnect 5224

    Hello

I just bought a SG300-10 switch and loaded new firmware 1.27 on it.  Configure my VLAN and trunks, but I have a weird problem that I can't seem to understand.  It may be something small, I'm missing, but no matter, I have been scratching at it all day and I kicked in the butt.  If anyone can point me in the right direction or maybe something that someone see in my config which is wrong, I can get the terminology/theory wrong, after all, I just spent my CCNA :)

    My configuration:

I have the SG300-10 as my switch and changed over to L3, so it may be my core of my small network.  On port 1, vlan 200 is configured as my unidentified native PVID and I put it to 210(LAN network) to trunk VLANs, 220 (management vlan) on the tag to the Dell powerconnect 5224 24port switch.  On port 1 of the Dell switch, I install as a trunk it as well with the same configuration (vlan native of PVID unidentified 200, 210 and 220 tag trunking).

I have installed virtual interfaces on the SG300 for each VLAN (vlan 210 = 192.168.210.1/24, vlan 220 = 192.168.220.1/24) and on the Dell, since this is a feature of L2, I changed the vlan 1 to 220 management and assign the IP 192.168.220.2/24.

Now, since the SG300 web interface, I ping IP management Dell (192.168.220.2/24)successfully and vice versa, can ping from Dell web interface to one of the IP of the bridge VLAN (210.1 & 220.1) successfully so that test, to me, looks like the Dell communicates with the SG300.)  I also have the default gateway of the Dell 192.168.220.1 printer value.

    Server IP: 192.168.220.10/24

    Workstation IP: 192.168.210.80/24

    Now the dilemma:

I have a server plugged into switch port Dell 2 (configured as 'hybrid' because there is no option to access, value 220 PVID, vlan, worth 220 Untagged) and from the server, I can ping IP management dell very well switch and can ping the IP of the gateway of great SG300 so.  On the SG300 switch, on port 2, I plugged in a workstation (configuration is in access mode, vlan 210 unidentified) who can not ping the server plugged into the dell switch.  The workstation, I can ping all the SG300 interfaces and also the IP management dell but I can't ping the server.

Any ideas anyone can provide is much appreciated!

    Edition of VLAN.

Lenell, thank you for the call tonight. It seems that we have found the problem. The SIN, although it is configured with a default gateway, the gateway that brings 0.0.0.0. We also checked the NAS works from the same subnet to connect but fails outside of the subnet. Conversely, we checked 2 computers have no problem to connect through the VLAN level 3.

I hope we got the right direction.

  • I would like to help with what I believe, it is a problem of routing VLANS on a SLM2008 and RVS4000

Please see attached Word documentfor a full description.  Thank you!

    Hi Michael,

All those who say the VLANS within the first hour is a person much smarter than me.

I have to admit with great humility, I think it took me nagging questions for some patients (AR) and weeks and weeks until finally I have a bit of understanding of the functioning of VLAN.

So don't feel concerned, many people there are in the same "boat" as you.

But VLAN, when you get the feel for them, are so so helpful.

I like under 'acceptable frame type' tick 'all '.

The value PVID tells me basically what VLAN not signposted port is underway.

This means that in the image below, 3 ports, 6-8 will be I hope, expecting to received and transmit frames Ethernet labeled with a tag VLAN 2.

But on the diagram above, I can now make room for the following table.

    without tag vlan tagged vlan

    3-1-2 switch port

6 2 2 switch port can not be marked and unidentified on the same switch port

7 2 2 switch port can not be marked and unidentified on the same switch port

    8-1-2 switch port

In the diagram above, I can see that 1 and 2 switch ports are ifor untagged VLAN 3 so the packages roll inside the switch for VLAN 3 will have their VLAN TAGs removed from the Ethernet frame as the traver packets on the switch to an IP host.

I also see that the switch port 3 unidentified in the VLAN 1, but you have set the acceptable frame on tagged only type.

Unless I read this all in fact wrong.

Note: I have to admit that has the big brother to the SG200 SG300 series switch,

Don't forget about PC / security cameras (except Cisco, hey I'm system engineer have to give my equipment fitted with a plug) in most of the cases do not send frames labeled Ethernet in the switch, which is why I like the idea of accepting all types of frames. I guess that the default VLAN settings are the acceptable frame types = all

When we add a vlan to a switch port, as the image below, switch to these ports are added as a vlan tagged, because the port if already reside in one VLAN not tagged...  This means that in the case below, 3 ports, 6-8 will be I hope, expecting to received and transmit frames ethernet labeled with a tag VLAN 2.

You said it, not easy, you need to play and practice with switching and routing

.  But the general rule that I follow for VLAN's.

A switch port can be untagged in a single vlan, but at the same time marked on several VLANs.

With respect to the limitation of the camera, my camera, I have not used my filters. But there is the possibility of limiting access by IP address or network.

I guess you can find an article on your DLINK camera to filter. Reset the default camera and try to add it again.

Routing between VLANS will occur at the RVS4000, it routes packets between different VLANs, the SG200 cannot be put in Layer 3 mode like its big brother the 300 series (SRWXXX-K9-NA)...

    Best regards, Dave

  • Question about router 72XX and LAN switching

    Hello 2Tous

There is a 7204VXR/NPE-G2 router, our client wishes to ensure the transparent flow of about three hundred vlan via the router, switch functionality as trunking switchport allowed vlan xxx, yyy, zzz. Given that the router is not broadcast a vlan and for the 72xx series, I have found no commuting port adapter, is it possible to meet the demand of customers without having to install additional standalone switch.

    Hello Sultanov,

    > our customer wants to make sure that the transparent flow of about three hundred vlan via the router,

You can use vlan based on IP with L2TPv3 transport

    See

    http://www.Cisco.com/en/us/docs/iOS/12_3t/12_3t2/feature/guide/gtl2tpv3.html#wp1043064

However, I'm seriously worried about the amount of traffic that the customer is supposed to move around on the links:

a NPE - G2 can handle 500 Mbps of traffic full suplex between two GE ports.

And sharing 300 VLAN between two sites look as inappropriate.

Be aware of this, L2TPv3 should be able to carry the frames of the 300 VLAN between two sites on an IP network, but traffic levels must be controlled in some way or the router the Wan link can be submerged

    Edit:

If the customer wants to take over the 300 VLAN locally within a single site, it is a work of lan switch and I would use one (C4500 or better) with a link routed to the C7204 that act as router WAN

L2TPv3 could support local switching but this has an impact on performance (traffic not called twice by the router)

    Hope to help

  • NAT router 1841 and 3550 switch help

Hi experts, I need some help with setting up a network.  Network diagram is attached.

I created 3 VLANs on the 3550 Switch and activated InterVLAN Routing.  I can't do a ping from one VLAN to another.  I've added static routes to networks VLAN on the router.  Is the only part I'm not sure where and how configure NAT?  For example, if it was just a standalone router Cisco 1841 I would just create list of access and NAT FA 0/0 outside and FA 0/1 on the inside.  It would be great if someone can give me an example or point me to the right direction.

    Router ISP--> Cisco 1841--> Switch Cisco 3550

    Cisco 1841 router:

    FA 0 / 0--> WAN Interface

    IP address: 30.20.10.2

    FA0 / 1 Interface LAN connected to the 3550 switch-->

    IP address: 10.0.0.1/24

    Cisco 3550 switch:

FA 0 / 24--> to connect to the Cisco 1841 router

    IP address--> 10.0.0.2/24

    FA 0/1 - 0 / 10--> VLAN 1

    FA 0/11 - 0 / 20--> VLAN 2

    FA 21/0 - 0 / 23--> VLAN3

    Thank you

Hello, it's the same thing, but in your access list, you need allow all of your internal address ranges. On your router and 3550 make sure routing everything is OK, you say you have connectivity.

This means that your network 10 should be able to get to your 192 networks and vice versa.

On your 3550, you can have a default route to the router. And your router should have roads to 192 networks via the address 10 of the 3550.

    Then the NAT configuration

    Int fa0/1
    IP NAT inside

    Int fa0/0
    NAT outside IP

    IP access-list standard MYNAT
    Permit 10.0.0.0 0.0.0.255
    Permit 192.168.1.0 0.0.0.255
    Permit 192.168.2.0 0.0.0.255
    Permit 192.168.3.0 0.0.0.255

And then in your NAT statement

IP NAT inside source list MYNAT interface fa0/0 overload

    Hope this helps

  • Problems with AirPort Extreme and Qwest Modem/Router.

I have a Qwest ActionTec 1000 DSL VDSL2 gateway and want to disable the functions of router wireless and those through direct AirPort Extreme. I know that in the Modem I have to disable the functions of addressing and turn them in the AirPort Extreme to avoid address conflicts, but what are the settings I need to change in both devices? And what is "A Transparent bridging" on the side of the modem?

But what are the settings I need to change in both devices?

Sorry, we can't help on the settings for the modem/router, because it would be a question of Qwest as to if this is even possible and if so, if Qwest will support this type of installation. Sometimes the ISP lock modem/router settings, and although it seems as if you can change the basic configuration of the unit, you can really.

Yes, it is possible that another user of Qwest has done with the same modem/router you have and an AirPort Extreme... and may know the answer... but the chances of the person who holds this information also to see this post are slightly above zero. But, I guess it's possible.

If the modem/router can be configured to operate only as a simple modem, then the next step would be to get your Mac connected directly to the modem to test the connection in this way. If Qwest is going to help you, they will do it no doubt with your Mac connected directly to the "modem" as well.

Once you know the exact details of the PPPoE authentication to establish a connection, these parameters can be transferred to the AirPort Extreme and removed from your Mac. To do this, you reset the AirPort Extreme back to default and then put settings in place again. The installer should detect the PPPoE connection and then ask for your login information.  After this, the correct settings apply to AirPort Extreme during the installation.  You can still use the same wireless network name and password you used before if you wish, or set up a new network name and password.

PPPoE on the routers of the airport, at least in my experience, was not a reliable way to connect when I tried this in the past, but you don't really know how well... or even if... it will work until try you it. Unless you really want the airport to distribute IP addresses to devices on your network, things would be a lot more simple if you went ahead and used the modem/router "such what" and then let the airport works in Bridge Mode to transfer information in connection with network devices.

When you have the modem/router converted to act as a simple modem and made a successful connection using your Mac connected directly to the "modem", post back and we can help with the configuration of the AirPort Extreme if you need more advice.

  • Problems setting up router WRT1900ac and fiber

I feel that my question is so obscure that I won't be able to get a lot of help here, but I'll post anyway.

First of all, I live in the Philippines. My ISP is PLDT. I have FTTH - fiber to the home. My internet connection is DHCP - no login or password. I thought that perhaps they checked the serial number on the modem to see if I was an authorized user but apparently not; They told me if I wanted to buy another optical modem, I could and that I wouldn't need to do anything to save it on the network, but that they could not provide me with a list of modems that would work.

They delivered to me with a router/modem made by a company called FiberHome. "Like the big business of high-tech directly affiliated to belonging to the active state of oversight and Board of Directors of the Council of State, FiberHome Technologies is the company of the kernel located in Wuhan Optics Valley of China."

The model number is AN5506-04-FG. There are very few configurable on this. Can I change my wifi network name (they insist that the name of the network begins with PLDTHOMEFIBR, no idea why) and a few passwords here and there. For the most part, I just post status on the LAN and WAN.

Therefore, because it is so little that I can do with it that I decided that I needed a router/gateway and not simply an Extender. I bought the WRT1900ac.

Brought it home, that he repaired, it connected via ethernet cable between a LAN port on the FiberHome on the Internet on the Linksys port.  I then used the WiFi on my iPad to try on the Linksys Setup, try with Safari and Chrome.

Went to put in place and smart control of Linksys could not understand my internet connection, despite several reboots, power off and cable disconnected, etc.

So I went to the manual configuration. I put the connection to a static IP address. Following the minimal instructions in the booklet of FiberHome, I put the IP address of the router to 192.168.1.28; the subnet mask of 255.255.255.0; This gateway 192.168.1.1 (internal IP of the fiber to the home, address) DNS of Google DNS.

This would actually work - but only for a few minutes at a time. Then the network diagram would show that I was always connected to the FiberHome but no connection to Internet in addition. (Although my PC, connected to the FiberHome via a LAN cable, still had access to the internet.)

I used the live chat Linksys to ask an agent to this topic. She said that my gateway setting is correct. She had me reset the router and try again, but he could not yet know the connection to the internet on its own. She had me download the iOS app and try there, but same result. So I received a ticket number and ended the chat session.

Now, I tried to set the internet connection on the router at the bridge. But once I did, I was unable to connect to the router via WiFi. I needed to do a reset to be able to access it again.

At this point I called my ISP. They told me that if I wanted to add another router like that, they would need to reset my router/modem FiberHome bridged mode. But they are unable to do it remotely and cannot (or don't want to) give me instructions on how to do it myself.  They need to send a technician to my home. They could not tell me when. I have to wait for a call. (I got a ticket number).

This means that for now, I have a blue and black, sitting bins there, I can't do anything with.

So I'm waiting, I thought I'd post this in the hope that someone might have some ideas configuration I could try or for the general amusement of peoples.

    Thank you!

You may have a conflict between the two routers in IP subnet. In this case the WRT1900AC will change it's default subnet to 10.x.x.x instead of 192.168.1.1

You can find the new IP address of the router by looking at a customers connect ITI information IP address appears as the default gateway.

  • Configure the switch to WAP

I have a demonstration kit that includes a WLC 2106 and WAP 2 1252. I have configured the WLC correctly (I think) and the WAP 2 can contact the WLC when they are plugged directly into the WLC and I can connect my wireless laptop. I want to spend the WAP directly connected to the WLC to a core switch Cisco 3560 G. No one knows what port on the 3560 settings should do or where I can look. I have configured the switch ports:

    Interface GigabitEthernetX / X

    switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q

    switchport trunk allowed vlan 212,214,215,901

    switchport mode trunk

but when I plug in it do not access the WLC.

Happy, it was a simple problem to solve :)

  • Problems with LAP 1042 and controller 2106

Hello everyone, we have the installation program LAP1042 2 with a controller 2106. They AP are connected to ports POE 7 and 8 of the 2106. The management interfaces and ap are on port 1, are in the same subnet and are not marked. We configure WLAN, one for guest access and one for internal access. Windows server is the DHCP server for all network devices, including the AP everything works fine. Internal users to connect correctly and can access internal devices and the internet. You can access the internet only and get the page of web authentication before access. The only problem we have is that single AP records with the 2106, the AP on port 7. Another AP, on port 8, telling me that it cannot obtain an IP address. In my mind, the problem isn't with the controller or router configuration because an access point works very well. We have a third AP we tried, but could not get an IP address, or the other.

Any ideas as to what could be the problem?

Don't forget the 2106 is a very basic unit of WLC and if you want to have connected directly to ports 2106 APs this can work if the APs get an IP on the same VLAN or subnet as the WLC and it could use an external DHCP server and you must disable the proxy dhcp on the WLC or it could be the WLC server itself and we need to let proxy dhcp activate.

But we also have the following BUG ID CSCsj33229 when APs directly connected to WLC ports on the 2106.

    Conditions:

Access points that are directly connected to the ports of 2100 series controller may not work properly in a variety of ways:

-systems on the cable network may not be able to ping to the APs

-access points may be unable to obtain a DHCP address from an external DHCP server

-l'AP may have with the WLC CAPWAP or LWAPP communication problems, which could result in resetting of tunnel

-If the AP is in RAP mode, it will not be able to bridge LAN packets

-telnet or ssh to the AP won't work

    Workaround solution:

Plug the WLC to a switch and the switch access points.

    More information:

Cisco is not and will not, help to connect directly access points to 2100 ports WLC series.

Also check on best practices for the 2106.

  • AirPort Extreme, gigabit Ethernet switch and covering my house

I have an AirPort Extreme 802.11n to Time Capsule wireless router. I have an old House. It was built in 1852 and microwave ovens have a hard time penetrating through some walls.

Recently, I made some changes in the House and I wired things for Gigabit Ethernet. I have not yet bought a switch. We have a Mac Pro (cheese grater), a Mac Mini, three iPhones (only 6) and two iPads (one version 3 and the other, only the latter bought autumn, an iPad Air.)

First of all, since most of us are on 802.11 n, can I initially put in place a heterogeneous system with two routers wireless connected to themselves and to the Internet via a switch? Also, I need two switches; one for the internal LAN and the other for a connection to the Internet? I intend to buy the new ac 802.11 AirPort extreme for a facility in one of the rooms to better cover the rest of the House. I think that both devices will be able to take advantage of the signal of 5 GHz, initially, with another iPad and iPhone to come along the next year. I wouldn't or the other base station being "enslaved" to the other but, rather, connected to the wired network internal and devices just switch between them that move around the House.

Comments are welcome here. This can be a trip to a Genius Bar if I do not hear from final here.

can I initially put in place a heterogeneous system with two routers wireless connected to themselves and to the Internet via a switch?

Possibly, depending on the type of modem you have. See below info in this post.

Also, I need two switches; one for the internal LAN and the other for a connection to the Internet?

    NO.

I wouldn't or the other base station being "enslaved" to the other but, rather, connected to the wired network internal and devices just switch between them that move around the House.

Not sure what you mean here. The two extremes of the airport will be connected to the cable network, so they will be in communication with them at all times. If you want to peripheral switch between them that move around the House... then you will need what is called a "mobile network"... so the two airports will produce a wireless signal that uses the same wireless network name. Apple Setup Assistant will put things this way by default.

Depending on the type of "modem" you have, the network might look like this:

Internet > Modem > AirPort Extreme 802.11ac > Ethernet switch > AirPort Extreme

or, if your "modem" is really a modem/router, also known as, a walkway... then you have the ability to set things up like this:

Internet > Modem/Router > Switch > the two airports to connect to the Ethernet network

Looking for a Gigabit Ethernet switch to your network. Switches come in 5 ports, 16 channels, 8 ports, etc. versions.  It's always a good idea to buy an Ethernet switch over a few ports that you think that you may need right now... to allow for expansion.

The key here is that the type of modem you have will determine how to configure the network.  If you could provide the number of brand and model of your "modem", we can eliminate some of the assumptions to be used at this time.
