Problems of WAN connection after a clean install of Vista

Since I had my computer wiped out I can't connect to my router wirelessly. is it possible to reformat my WAN settings or anything like that to be able to connect again? right now it says everything is ok but when I unplug the ethernet cable it disconnects me.

I suggest that you remove all the connections your computer wireless (after writing on the correct settings if those here is actually good) and start again from zero setting of the wireless connection and network connections as well.

If this does not work, then I call your provider access and explan the situation and ask for their help.  I did it myself several times and they have been very helpful and usually solved the problem (unless it was something on their servers, or on the actual line).  Ask them to walk you step by step in the installation process (seting another account if that makes things easier) and see if you missed a step somewhere.  Ask them to test your modem for problems remotely.

There may be a problem with the wireless card drivers. Go to the Device Manager by going to start / find and type Device Manager and enter and then double-click on the program icon that appears.  Check each device to a red x, yellow! or white?  These identify devices with problems probably (drivers, but also of conflict or something else).  Click on each for more details and troubleshooting tips.  If you need to get drivers (and you should do sp RPF bore; ess card amd the router if it is delivered with at least, and all you have time to do - they can help way beyond simply solve this problem), let the computer dealer or the manufacturer of the device (NOT of Microsoft Updates).  In fact, you must disable automatic updates in Windows Update driver as follows: http://www.addictivetips.com/windows-tips/how-to-disable-automatic-driver-installation-in-windows-vista/. Follow these steps to get the drivers: http://pcsupport.about.com/od/driverssupport/ht/driverdlmfgr.htm.  Once you have the drivers, you can install them via the Manager device as follows:http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/193584-device-manager-install-driver.html.

How your computer was wiped out?  Was it a power surge?  There may be damage to some of the features (like the wireless card) caused by the same incident, but not detected so far.  If you have a spare wireless card or that you can borrow one, then we could test if the card itself is the problem by reversing the it between computers.

You have other computers connected to the router or the wireless device and do they work?  Perhaps someone with a wireless laptop can drop by for a visit and see if this computer can connect wireless - then we can suspect the router or wireless device.  Do you know how to to access the settings of the wireless device or router to your PC - contact the manufacturer to see if there is a way and then check the settings.

I hope this helps.  Keep me posted.

Good luck!

Having had a lot of problems trying to Netflix in MCE works, I decided to start over.  I did the following:

    1. installed new, clean Windows Vista Ultimate w / SP2 x 86, directly from MSDN Downloads.

2 set up the wireless internet connection.

    3. start MCE.  Internet configuration and automatic downloads.  A ran 'download now '.  (How know when it is done?)  Waited a while.

4 restarted MCE.  Netflix is there.  A run 'Install' to Netflix.  After it installed Netflix MCE and Silverlight, MCE restarted.  No Netflix! Tried the option 'download now '.  No effect.

5 download and install the cumulative patches for MCE.  Restrarted machine and Netflix.  No Netflix.

6 left MCE.  As an administrator, run "start/wait mcupdate-u - nogc ' from the command window.  No Netflix.

I tried this twice, so it is reproducible.  Microsoft PLEASE help!

Thanks for the reply.  After much gnashing of teeth, I finally got Netflix for work in MCE.  My current problem is, when I try to connect to Netflix to MCE, I get the error "there was a problem of signing.  Check your connection Internet is working and try again. »

I tested my Internet from MCE and it works.

I thought that maybe the patch you suggest would help, so I applied it and several others listed on the downloads page (KB957209 KB958653, KB977864, KB932818, 941229 KB967632, KB982480.)  I then followed the patches with the additional steps above.  I can not connect to Netflix to MCE - same error.

  • After a clean install of Windows Vista, Intel Wifi card is installed and activated, but does not detect the network.

Wireless card not working after a clean install of Windows Vista

I did a clean install of Windows Vista Home Premium on my HP Pavilion of 32 bits. I've completely updated Windows via Service Pack 2. Given that the clean install, my wireless card, Intel (r) Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN, was not able to detect all the networks. The Wifi card is listed under NICs as being installed and activated. the hardware on my laptop Wifi switch is set on "on" and the light is blue, indicating that the card is working.

I can connect to the internet if I connect physically my computer to the modem with an ethernet cable wireless, so the modem isn't the problem. Other computers can connect to the wireless modem, so my Wifi modem functionality is not the problem. The problem with my computer.

I tried to uninstall the Intel driver and reboot my computer with the generic driver. Install the driver generic, but my wireless card has not always worked. I then ran an update of windows, nothing helps.

I tried to install the "Intel® PRO /? Wireless and WiFi Link"drivers for Windows Vista (32-bit 13.1.1.1 the latest version and the previous version 12.4.4.5 32-bit) for the Intel® Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN directly from the Intel Web site at http://downloadcenter.intel.com/SearchResult.aspx?lang=eng&ProductFamily=Wireless+Networking&ProductLine=Intel%C2%AE+WiFi+Products&ProductProduct=Intel%C2%AE+Wireless+WiFi+Link+4965AGN. The map didn't always work with a driver.

In addition to the pilots, I also downloaded a tool of diagnosis of Intel (Intel® PROSet /?) Utility of WiFi wireless connection for Windows Vista 32 -? Bit). Said diagnostic tool the WiFi card is not installed or enabled, however, Device Manager maintains that he is also installed and active.

Is there a problem that causes Device Manager to say that all is well with the card, but does not map to realize that they diminish the radio signals? Everything's fine, diagnostic, it just does not detect networks around him. Help, please.
