Starting problem in Windows Vista Home Premium
My Windows Vista computer can not start recently. The Startup Repair window indicated that the root cause may be due to modifications not specified in the system registry. How can I solve this problem? Thanks for the tips.
Sally
Hi Sally,
· Did you do changes on the computer before the show?
You can perform system recovery option startup repair and check if the problem still persists.
Startup Repair is a Windows Recovery tool that can fix certain system problems that might be preventing Windows to start. Startup Repair scans your computer for the problem and then tries to fix it so that your computer can start correctly.

Activation problem with Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit edition
Recently, I had a problem with my office that was running Windows Xp Pro. After having tried to reformat the computer with my installation disc, something was holding me back upwards. Thus, recently bought a laptop with Windows vista on it I used the disc that comes with it. Note: I ordered this laptop for Windows 7, vista is no longer running on this laptop. Everything installed very well on my office with the exception of one problem it won't let me activate windows. Now, it's my copy of windows vista that I paid for. It runs on a single computer in my office. I have validated my software on my desktop and it's been validated. Now why not activate Windows Vista?
If Vista is preinstalled on your laptop, it is classified as an OEM license and is not transferable.
The license of Vista OEM is related to the original computer it is installed on and dies with the computer.
You cannot transfer it to another computer/laptopIf a license of Vista at retail, you can transfer it to another computer/laptop.
But it can only be installed on one computer at a time.A single license is a single Installation.
See you soon.

Vista Home Premium, Installation of SP2 problem
Dell Inspiron laptop computer with Vista Home premium.
When I try to install sp2 it fails when a box pop up appears entitled "spinstall.exe - Unable to locate component" with the following message: -.
"This application has failed to start because sqmapi.dll not found. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem. »
This happens as well with the update and sp2 download. Any help / suggestions would be appreciated.
Hello dazedandconfuzed, welcome.
I recommend you try a SFC scan first. If this fails, we can try to manually find the DLL file referenced in the error message and see if there are any problems with the file itself.
Try this:
1. click on START
2. Type "cmd" (without the quotes). Right-click on the result at the top of the menu START and select 'run as administrator '.
3. type sfc/scannow , and then press on enter
4. then restart your computerLet us know what happens

Recent problem with very slow internet browsing on all browsers Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit
Separated from this thread.
Hi all I'm having the same issues as Theresa in the thread above split. I have Vista Home Premium 32 bit service Pack 2 with all the installed updates (automatically done!). Within 3 months, this PC at home that was formerly an excellent navigation device became very slow when you browse using IE, Firefox or Chrome. It takes 30 to 50 seconds to load any web page (Yahoo, eBay, etc.). I followed all the instructions suggested to Theresa in SafeMode by Bill Smithers. Resulted in nothing other than a few cookies and Wetherbug I killed. I also run McAfee total protection and Spybot S & D every 3 days with nothing found.
I have reset my browsers to the specifications of the factory without change.
Comcast is my internet provider high speed and my speedtest returns 65 - 75 MB/s download and 11 Mbit/s upload very regularly. I connect directly to the bridge. I had Comcast out and they swapped unity Arris of a unit of Cisco beefier but that changes nothing. Other devices on my network domestic perform very well and do not have this problem.
When I browse a site the CPU spikes up to 88% use in 45 seconds and is stable at 50% usage 1.7 GB memory.
The only thing I can infer is at this time that something happened to the operating system during automatic updates or some other setting has been changed. I could use any help or suggestions you may have! Otherwise, I love this OS and have not had any problems. Thanks, Dhoffa

Hi all
Please bear with me here that I try to explain all the questions I have with my computer right now. I'll try to explain everything that self-organization as possible, but if you need more information or file papers to provide a solution more precise, do it me know.
To start, I use a HP Pavilion dv6000 series (dv6748us to be exact) with Windows Vista Home Premium (32 bit) installed. (Service pack 2). About 6 months ago I got this laptop from what I believe was the conflicker virus (kept forwarding pages, arrested updates and antivirus programs, etc.) and I managed to get Windows Update works again. My help and Support did not work well, it only worked in Mode without failure, so I did some research and tried a bunch of suggested corrections (update the registry, etc.) and got it work yet once again. I don't know if one of the tools that I used all by setting the Help & Support could have caused problems that I now (as I literally tried everything under the Sun until I got to work), but my Windows Update does not work properly again.
A few weeks ago, I installed some updates and restarted the computer, but updates did not finish install on reboot. He said the usual "Configuring Updates, do not turn off your computer", but never showed percentage complete or whatever it is. It restarted, and when I open Windows Update, he said the last time I checked the updates has never been (obviously not true), and when I tried to check the updates, it jumped right to the message telling me I have to restart my computer to complete the installation of updates. She continues to do everytime I open Windows Update. From time to time, I try to restart it, just to see if it will work, and he never does.
I spent hours trying all the solutions I could find in Google. I tried to run system update readiness tool, which seemed to run correctly (but does not solve the problem). I then tried the difficulty it for Windows Update, and it does not solve the problem. (It might be important for me to mention that I also have problems with the difficulty It Center itself, too. Individual tools like that for Windows Update is running, but the difficulty It Center program keeps giving me the error message that "a problem is preventing the troubleshooting tool to start.") I also tried to rename the pending.xml file, and then later I deleted it, after reading in another forum that you rename the file could cause system instabillity or something like that.
Unfortunately, I can't use system restore to solve all my problems, because all my previous restore points have disappeared (I don't know if the virus wiped out them, or if the computer removed on its own) but restore points only I checked are those that have been created recently, during the time I had these problems.
I tried running sfc/scannow nothing helped, as he continues to tell me that there is a pending repair, but repair pending never ends. I tried to use the command of /revertpendingactions of dism.exe/image:C\/cleanup-image in the command prompt of recovery center to stop it pending repairs, and that has not worked because it claims that dism.exe that does not exist / is not a valid command. No matter what I try, I can't have this pending repair or my updates to complete pending.
I tried to boot mode safe several times as well and he hung up on crcdisk.sys when starting every time.
Being that I can't use sfc/scannow, System Restore, or get into Safe Mode, I'm really lost as to what I should do next. I'm honestly not sure if the problems are related, but I just thought it would make sense to list them all in one place.
Please note that I don't want to re - install Windows Vista, or don't I think I need, because the computer works very well for most. (I use it for typing this right now). I had much rather bring all the features on mine, which I believe can be achieved with the help of the right person.
If someone could provide me with suggestions/solutions, it would be greatly appreciated! Certainly, it would relieve a lot of stress for me!

Windows Vista Home Premium - problem "task manager has been disabled by your administrator".
Nice day
I had problems with my task manager (I use the operating system "Windows Vista Home Premium"). Evertime I try to access the program, he returns with "task manager has been disabled by your administrator". I used different tools to remove malware and got rid of a lot of problems but still can not in Task Manager.
I created a new user with administrator account and logged on it and had no problem until my 'Task Manager' program open, but when I went back to my origional administrator account the same problem occurred.
Why can I get to "Task Manager" in my new account administrator and not the former?
I still have malware in the old account or do I go into my registry and restore something?I am at a loss, and any help would be appreciated. I'm worried that I can always have some kind of malware that prevents me to access my task manager in my old account.
Please give step by step instructions because I am not computer savvy computer even when it comes to fixing the problems of this kind.
Thanks in advance.

Vista Home Premium problem: the system automatically restarts
I have a Toshiba Satellite A200 with Vista Home Premium installed on it. I bought it about two years ago. Last month, the laptop always automatically restart. Although I restore the system to its factory, the problem still exist. I also use recovery disk, but it has not solved the problem. And then I intend to reinstall my vista Home premium. However, I don't have an installation disc. This is because as my laptop with Vista Home premium pre-installed on it. How could I get a vista installation disc Home premium? If I contact the manufacturer (Toshiba) or you can get it from Microsoft?
Thank youAndi
original title: problem Vista Home Premium
If the laptop comes with Vista Home Premium installed, then do a restore to factory re-installed this program.
Go to start / computer / system properties and read what is installed on your system. It's probably Vista Home Premium. You don't need the disk to re - install anything else (and recovery options will not solve the problem if a full restore to factory settings did the trick).
You can get in trouble with your device drivers (but I doubt it). Go to the Device Manager by going to start / find and type Device Manager and enter and then double-click on the program icon that appears. Check each device to a red x, yellow! or white? These identify devices with problems probably (drivers, but also of conflict or something else). Click on each for more details and troubleshooting tips. If you need to get drivers (and you need you to do all you have time to do - they help way beyond simply solve this problem), let the computer dealer or the manufacturer of the device (NOT of Microsoft Updates). In fact, you must disable automatic updates in Windows Update driver as follows:http://www.addictivetips.com/windows-tips/how-to-disable-automatic-driver-installation-in-windows-vista/. Follow these steps to get the drivers: http://pcsupport.about.com/od/driverssupport/ht/driverdlmfgr.htm. Once you have the drivers, you can install them via the Manager device as follows:http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/193584-device-manager-install-driver.html.
It seems to me like some kind of hardware problem which is the cause after what you did to remedy. If the above does not work, then I suggest that you take it for a repair of computer diagnostic and repair shop. Make sure that you back up your first data as they can wipe the hard drive clean for their efforts. Before that, you can contact the manufacturer to see if they can offer advice or suggestions (and check how their use to maintain the machine would cost).
I hope this helps.
Good luck!

Problems of 64-bit Vista Home Premium, Ultimate upgrade
I recently bought a laptop HP Pavilion dv4-1144us with 64-bit Windows Vista Home Premium (with SP1) pre-installed electronics Fry as well as a copy of the upgrade to Windows Vista Ultimate Edition (with SP1) because I need to the ability to connect to a domain when using the laptop at work. After installing Office 2007 Standard and by ensuring that the new Windows Vista laptop basically work, I tried to run the installation from the Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit Upgrade disk and found that, after an hour or two of an upgrade treat it to race end in a non-descript "cannot upgrade one or more components. Error Windows will restart and cancel the upgrade. ", after which he ends by turn to Vista Home Premium.
After doing a little research online (on TechArena) and I have re-tried the upgrade again after:
In Control Panel-> programs and features:
-Deactivation of Microsoft.NET Framework 3.0
-Disable remote differential Compression
-Deactivation of the replication DFS Windows Service
Disable Norton Virus and Internet Security software pre-installed
Disable the Windows Firewall and defender.
Uninstalling Quicktime and AIM.
Disconnect all other devices to a USB mouse.
However when "Compatibility Check" of the upgrade at the beginning, he warn a problem with a filter 'keyboard '.
(no further details) which I think can refer to the HP software that implement quick launch the laptop keys.
So I downloaded and installed the latest version of the HP Quick Launch Button drivers on the HP Support page:
' HP Quick Launch buttons Date: 08/2008 Version: 6.40.8.2 H size: 20.97 M
and I tried again, but still without success.
Note: I can not run the Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor, as recommended because it does not work on Vista 64 bit.
However, there are standard HP and Microsoft Vista + Office + MessengerLive software installed only at this stage.
Are there additional clues on what to try next? Has anyone experience this problem?
-Greg
You can try to uninstall the filter on the keyboard until the upgrade is complete... In Device Manager, go to 'View' and select 'show hidden devices and then go down to "Non-Plug and Play drivers" and made a right click on the keyboard/HID filter drivers and uninstall (remove also the softare upon request).
