Problems using Photoshop CS3 to calculate areas of pixels

Is there a known problem with Photoshop CS3 when using it to calculate how many pixels contained in some areas when they are complex shapes?  I am doing some calculations and for simple areas, it is very good, but in other areas it happens with obviously incorrect values. For example, if you create a matrix of tangent circles in a rectangle and start looking on the circles and the intermediate spaces between the circles and/or between the circles and the bounding box that surround the edges of the outermost circles and then start to use the Panel/window "Histogram" (I use the Mac of Photoshop CS3 version) number of pixels is far away sometimes. I noticed that there is sometimes a warning icon in the histogram Panel that says "Click to histogram with no cached data" and when this is done then the beleivable numbers are shown.

Why the data "cached" so far off the power when you make these kinds of calculations?

Thanks for any suggestion on how to accurately calculate areas this way.

PS - I tried to put a version of the file, but it is higher than the 2 MB limit - if you want to see the exact file I play with let know me and will gladly send a copy so you can see what I mean.

The sample used is a version of the sampled low resolution of your image, in other words, a version.

You should be aware that such analysis, it is an important aspect of your work, you would benefit to have the version of Photoshop Extended , which has many functions of measure. You could, for example, have several selected areas and take a measure that could provide you with areas of all selections more their fields combined as well as many other data. All these data can then be exported to a spreadsheet for further analysis.

  • I have CS6, but I also use Photoshop CS3 if I can use a Hewlett Packard Scanjet 3110 for scanning.

New drivers for the HP are no longer available and my CS3 crashes in Yosemite.  Someone could suggest a solution or should I just buy a new scanner.

Use the standalone scanning software provided with the scanner, save the files, then open them in CS6.

This also gives you the opportunity to work in PS during the scan.

The stand-alone version should also hang, consider a third-party program, such as Vuescan.

  • How to open an CR2 file using photoshop CS3

How to open an CR2 file in CS3

You cannot open a raw of this camera directly file in CS3 and will never be able to.  This camera model was supported for the first time in Camera Raw 5.2, requiring the CS4 run.

You must first convert your Canon raw files to DNG raw files.  Download, install and run free and stand alone Adobe DNG Converter 8.1, which is not related to any version of Photoshop at all.

Try to create a new album first in the Organizer by clicking on the Green plus a symbol next to the Albums (upper-left)

Select your photos and drag the icon of new album on them.

Then select the album in the album list.

Then click on share > online Album

Definitely. You need the version 5.7, which is only for CS4.

You need a DNG Converter, but since you're running XP, it will be the 8.3 DNG Converter

  • Using Lightroom with Photoshop CS3 6

I currently use Photoshop CS3 and really didn't want to spend at this time (long story don't ask) I think the purchase of 6 Lightroom and I see that the manual for the LR6 indicates that it will work with the CS3 version. Does anyone has experiences using this combination? Thank you.

No reason it should not work.

The option "Edit in Photoshop" - function will be limited, but it'll work. All features requires the ACR plugin in Photoshop to be at the same version level. You lose also some other ' Open as... ". "- features in Photoshop that also require corresponding versions.

But the basic features - editing in Lightroom and send the result ended up in Photoshop - work.

  • Colors of abnormal skin with Photoshop CS3

Used Photoshop CS3 Extended on my PC to print on my Epson printer successfully for years (Photoshop manages colors).  Suddenly, the skin tones are very yellow.  Have you checked all the s parameter and all seem unchanged.  When I print same pictures using Epson Easy Photo Print, the skin tone is fine so seems to be a problem in Photoshop.  Any ideas outside Photoshop take off my computer and reload the original disc?

    Hello

When you choose Photoshop manages colors, depending on the printer profile you choose.

Make sure that the correct printer profile is selected.

You can also try to change the profile of the printer, you will find a big difference.

  • Photoshop CS3 crashes when you open any file

I'm having a problem with Photoshop CS3. The application starts successfully in its own, but as soon as I open a file any I immediately get the following message:

    Photoshop.exe - Application error

The instruction at "0x7c91b21" referenced memory at "0 x 000000010. The memory could not be "written".

    Then, the application closes.

Other applications Adobe, in the Suite work perfectly well. I tried to uninstall/reinstall the software and I still get the same error.

I tried the number of Support from Adobe, but they will not help because it's CS3. Would like to have 4 or 5, but it is not possible for me right now.

I also tried a quick search on google but answers/solution seemed to be everywhere, while I tried in vain a few.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes. but not too much information here.

Chris has already written about changing the default printer.

Go in Control Panel of Windows (I don't see what operating system you have). Search for devices and printers or printers. If the printer you are printing to is configured as default printer change that to a different printer as MS XPS Document Writer and make this defect.

Close it and see if that fixes the problem. This is a real problem for a lot of questions.

All you have to do when you're ready to print from PS is to choose which printer to use when the print window opens.

  • Photoshop CS3 for Windows very slow

I use Photoshop CS3 on a Windows Vista Help. He got a quick bicoeur processor. In the last couple months Photoshop started to run so slowly that it is virtually unusable. I have reset the preferences again. I brought up the RAM in the PC from 2 GB to 4, and offered no relief. I allocated more RAM to Photoshop. Nothing did.

I reached a breaking point today and spent a whole day of troubleshooting. I have concluded that it is a problem with the installation of Photoshop, asking way too much space to work. For example, when I open a 2.5meg file on this computer, it requires 3.6 GB of disk space to work. When I opened the same exact file on another machine, you must only 95 megs of disk space to work. I more than 4 GB of available disk space for the use of disk work on the affected machine, but the fact that it is done all this reading and writing to a disk hard kill the performance of the application.

Of course, there is a problem with the installation of the software. I tried to reinstall, and it does not help.

I called Adobe tech support line, and they don't touch this questions. They wanted me $39 to even hear what the problem was and said that they were not sure they could solve any problem - load especially one like that - after accepting the payment. (So, why would I give them a credit card number?) They suggested I post here instead. (Uh, great support strategy, huh?) I'm a little frustrated, if you can't tell...)

OK, so off the complainant now. Ideas for what I can do - short clamping this PC and buy a new one to reinstall on?

    OliverSSSSS wrote:

Yet one thing I might add that could lead a thought for someone. When I launch Photoshop, the boot process hangs for about 2 minutes on the stage where the application is 'reading preferences.'

I assume that already reset you your preferences as described in the FAQ.  http://forums.Adobe.com/thread/375776?TSTART=0

You must physically delete (or rename) the preference files or, if you use the Alt, Ctrl, and shift, don't forget you get a confirmation dialog box.

This resets all settings in Photoshop default.

Another source of slowness can be no local printers or on the "recent" list files that are on the network drives.
