• Is there an equivalent for Photoshop adjustment layer masks After Effects?

  I have a clip showing the clouds in a blue sky and the Valley in the bluish shade, and I want to darken the blues of the sky without affecting the Valley. Effects such as Hue/Saturation or curves produce good results on the sky, but apply to the entire composition.

  In Photoshop I would just do something like painting a gradient on the adjustment layer mask, but I don't see an equivalent in after effects CC2015.2 and wonder if I forgot something. Pointers?

  Mast track controls are in the Modes Panel. The second icon in the lower left corner of the timeline will reveal the switches and modes column in the timeline panel, or you can press F4 to switch between them. If the second icon is not selected, then you should also see a switch at the bottom of the column switches switches/Modes.

  Here's how I would setup a colour correction in this train yard shot to put a glance Kodachrome faded on the bottom of the frame without turning the yellow sky.

  

  If you look very carefully between the cars, you can see the start and the end points for my gradient.

  I can copy a mask in alpha channel to a layer of the image by Ctrl + click on the alpha channel, then by clicking on the icon Add a layer mask in Photoshop CC, but it does not work for an adjustment layer.   Drag the Alpha channel down to the channel to load as a selection symbol.

  Return the Panel layers, click the adjustment layer and choose an adjustment layer.

  The Alp\ha channel is displayed in his mask.

  Should not be a problem. Check your brush Blend Mode in the Options bar

  I accidentally selected the "Merge to the layer" option and then click on "Do not ask again", now, whenever I move a layer mask to the left, it will merge it.

  Sometimes when I do a layer (such as a Vibrance adjustment) adjustment layer have or do not have an attached layer mask thumbnail. Lately, it does NOT show a thumbnail of the layer mask. When I have an active selection and then make an adjustment layer, there then not attached layer mask thumbnail. On another computer, I do the same creation of adjustment layer, and it automatically has a layer mask thumbnail. What happens on a computer that does NOT have the thumbnail of the layer mask?

  There is a preference for whether you want automatically added layer mask.

• Problems with palette layer with CS5 CS6 files

  Open the Illustrator CS5 files in CS6 causes visibility icons, the layer names and layer to disappear from the layers palette thumbnails. Objects are always there are layers and layers, but I am unable to identify them in the layers palette (see screenshot of panels layeers CS5 and CS6). Have tried to change the Options of the Panel. Have also tried to change the file names that it allows me to do, but disappear as soon as I leave the palette. Also tried paste into a new document with "paste remember layers" but they arive in the new document the same way. The only thing that seems to work is paste a layer at a time in a new document and naming at that time here. This also provides the thumbnail of the layer. This isn't an easy task, because I have thousands of files CS5 I'll need to work with.

  I know I'm at the back of the class with the target and triggers, it's just not intuitive for me.

  Hi Anita,.

  It seems that you have created 5 compositions and are overlapping target areas. It will be difficult to manage the layers having different target areas.

  Best way will be to use a unique composition and add images for matching triggers and their targets.

• Elements 9 problems with the layer styles

  Hi, I searched the Forum but still not managed to install my layer styles in item 9.

  The asl files are currently in c/program files 86/adobe/elements9/presets/styles, but they may not appear when I launch the editor.  I even tried graphix add o matic nothing helps.  If anyone can tell me where I'm wrong, I would be really grateful.  I am running windows 7 on pc

  Install the styles in the shadow folder:

  "C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\9.0\Photo Creations\layer styles"

  Then delete this hidden file:

  "C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\9.0\Locale\en_us\MediaDatabase.db3".

  Start PES and wait while it automatically rebuilds this database file.

  You need to temporarily change your folder options to enable the display of hidden files.

• Problems with the quick mask

  For unknown reasoning - and I'm sure that its not mind my tired old - I can't seem to hide images in quick mask mode using the brush. What I am doing wrong?

  Make sure the brush is 100% opacity and Normal mode.

• Layer mask problem

  Somehow, I've changed a setting that has now caused me problems with my layer mask. When I add a layer, then make a blurr Gaussian then to create a layer mask using the ALT key and clicking on the layer mask that my mask should appear in black. However, it doesn't. And I can't figure out how to change... or what to change to correct it. I'm a windows help using Photoshop CC. I do not know how to make the screen print see here since my photoshop so need advice on that a well... Can someone help me? Thank you very much! Kristy

  Your screenshot is confusing because you have either thumb nails disabled in the options panel, or you don't actually have a layer mask.

  

• Problem with mask effect Gaussian blur

  Greetings! I've seen discussions where people had various problems with the following mask in Premiere Pro CC, but I had not seen this issue discussed, so I hope it's just a user error.

  I have a video where I need to blur the faces of several people in it.

  1. I applied Gaussian blur effect to the clip and used the tool free draw draw around A person's head.
  2. I have enabled the button animation next to the mask path label and then played the clip for some time.
  3. Then when his head would move out of the effect mask that I created, I would pause, add a keyframe and click and drag in the middle of the blue mask, that I had done in the program monitor, dragging on his head.

  Everything was fine. I did this several times.

  Then finally I suspended and made a keyframe, and suddenly the blue lines for the mask disappeared! You could still see the effect, but I could capture the effect is more and adjust it.

  Anyone has an idea why the blue lines for the mask suddenly stop appearing in the program monitor? This has happened several times, and I can't understand what the problem is. Thank you!

  Furthermore, I had already tried the mask tracking tool and he was not coherent enough, that's why I'm doing it manually.
