Problems with the new installation of Windows 7 Enterprise 64 on T400

I'm trying to do a clean install on win7 64 on my t400 (2764-CTO) ent

I burned my drive to a .iso directly from my microsoft partner portal.  When I boot the disk, it starts and starts to copy the files.  After that, I get a small windows with a black background splash screen.  After that, all I get is a mouse with a black background.  I can move the mouse, but my Setup seems to stop there.  I do not see the occasional hard disk activity, but I can get out my drive and have no complaints, so it seems to stop the disc at this point.

I tried to create a new cd and I have the same problem.  If I run the disk then that in my current configuration of windows, he opens the settings and will begin the upgrade to win7.  I quit because I want a clean install.

has anyone experience this problem?

I have re-uploaded the file image .iso last night and will try to burn a new disc from tonight and see where I get with it.  If this does not work, I will try to boot from usb, but I really prefer to do just from a dvd.  also, I tried - r and + r media with the same results.

Thanks for any help,

Josh

You validate the checksum on the download of the image?  I seem to have a problem any image on your DVD.

See you soon,.

  • Problem with the new installation of Windows XP on the Satellite A100-259

    Hi all!

I have a problem with the fresh install WIN XP on Satellite A100-259 (PSAA2E).
I already deleted the partition, formatted (NTFS) and tried to reinstall from recovery disk that initially provided with the laptop. But whenever I try to install a problem is detected (for the most part it's 'page in the nonpaged area failure').

I also tried to install the OS directly from MS Windows XP Home Edition SP2 CD - the same problem.
I checked the partition using PQ Magic and discovered that there are ' partition table error #110 ".» So, what I did:

    (1) delete partition-> create new partition-> format (NTFS)-> reinstall from recovery disk-> has not yet;
    (2) partition delete-> install WinXP CD original by create and format partition option-> has not yet;
    (3) delete the partition (using the magic of pq)-> create partition (using the magic of pq)-> format NTFS partition for win xp option-> check partition-OK no problems don't-> installation of original win XP CD-installation without changes-> option failed even once
    (4) delete the partition (pq magic)-> create partition (pq magic)-> format NTFS partition for win xp option-> check partition-OK, no problem-> installation of the recovery disc-> has not yet

Whenever a different error is detected, so I can't identify the problem. I don't know what to do. Does anyone have any ideas?

    Hello

Seems that there are some problems with the standards of the partitions.
A friend of mine has tried to install the OS on the recovery CD on the laptop that has been formatted with Partitions Magic 8 and the installation failed.
    It was very strange

Finally, we have formatted the whole HARD drive using the CD original Windows XP Pro.
We did not remove the partition but simply kicked this CD and after the configuration process spent, we formatted the whole HARD disk and install XP without creating all the partitions.

  • Minor problem with the New Installation of Windows 7 on my Inspiron E1705/9400 - two entries for "Base system device" under "Other devices" with yellow exclamation point

    Hello

First of all, let me tell you about my system.   It is of a laptop Inspiron E1705/9400 with the Core 2 Duo T7400 processor clocked at 2.16 GHZ.   It has 2 GB of RAM and a hard drive on the Hitachi Travelstar nine 500 GB (7200 RPM).   It also has the GeForce Go 7900 GS video card.    Previously, it had Windows XP Professional (32 bit) and worked well.   But, I have three computers in my home and Home Office and would they work better together on my wired home network, so I'm upgrading all three to Windows 7.   My two desktops (a Dimension XPS 420 and the other Dimension XPS 430) seem like they will be no problem to upgrade to Windows 7.   But, this laptop was not on the list of Dell Windows 7 compatibility.   However, the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor that I have downloaded and run seemed to say that it was OK to do a clean install of Windows 7 32-bit and he had only a few minor issues, where it says search the drivers updated from the manufacturer.   Initially, the laptop came with a 100 GB hard drive.   For my use, which becomes very small, so I decided to get the exact same 7200 RPM drive 500 GB size.   This will allow me to do a clean install of the 32 bit Windows 7 OS on the new hard drive and not have to wipe the old disk to do so.   I can just keep the old HD and paste it back whenever I need to get something out of it.

So, here's my minor problem.   After the transfer of some elements off the coast of the old hard drive, I installed the new 500 GB drive and installed a cleaning of the 32-bit version of Windows 7.    I'm happy to announce that I have not had virtually no problems with installation and everything seems to work fine.   He seems a little more zippy than before and I have not met so far that doesn't seem to work.   I went through most of features and almost everything is superb.   But there is a minor problem, showing in Device Manager.   At least, I think it's a minor problem, but maybe someone can give me feedback to know if she is or not.

In the Device Manager list, there is a category called "other devices" now and the icon shows a little white circle with an exclamation mark.    When you expand this category, you see two identical entries that say "Base system device" and the icon has a yellow circle with an exclamation mark inside.     I know from experience that it is not a good thing to see items in the device manager that have a yellow circle with an exclamation point.   I clicked on both of them and neither one really tells you what the device is, or who did what is site you would go to a driver.    On the general tab, it has the following information:

    -Device type Other devices

    Reference of the manufacturer- Unknown

                         Location     -         Bus PCI 3, device 1, function 3

Under device status, it says the following:

The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)

There is no driver selected for the item or a set of device information

To find a driver for this device, click Update driver.

Each of the entries seem to be almost the same thing... but not exactly.   The other has the location

list PCI Bus 3, device 1, function 2... instead of function 1.   This seems to be the only difference.

I tried the button to update the driver, but that doesn't seem to work.   No matter if you say it looks like your

computer or to look for a new driver from the internet, it does not find anything.     As I said at the beginning,

the system seems to work very well... but, given that I don't know what this device is or does, I might be missing something.

He drives me crazy just have these yellow circles with exclamation point hanging out in my device manager.

I could really use some help here.    Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

    Bryan Ray (Richmond, WILL)

BTW, I just downloaded and installed the driver pack from this ftp location and it worked, even for Windows 8.1 - 64 bit.

    Thanks Steve!

You understand that you will not be able to upgrade Windows XP to Windows 7?  He will have to do a clean install.

The Council supports Windows 7, you can get the drivers here (the chipset drivers should be the first drivers you install after installing the operating system.)

  • problems with the final installation of windows 7

I have a HP Compaq dc7700 Small Form Factor, which works on XP. Recently I decided to upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate edition and started the installation but to halfway through the process, there was a blackout and restart, the computer boots from the installed windows 7 but because the installation is incomplete, the computer gives this message

"The computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error." Windows Setup cannot continue. To install windows click on 'OK' to restart the computer, and then restart the installation.

The problem is same when I try to boot from the disk or Flash DRIVE, the computer always boots from the hard drive and ends with the same error.  How can I restart the installation? I tried to boot with the Windows XP drive and another drive in Windows 7, but the problem persists

    Hello, Beverley,

Thanks for the information and apologies for the late reply.

I suggest to reset Windows update components and then check if the problem persists.

Important this section , method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, click on the number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base: How to back up and restore the registry in Windows

Please reply with the results, in order to help you solve the problem.

  • Help please with the new installation of windows 7 with internet

We have two laptops, both using Windows 7 and a hub BT wireless, everything works fine, until I decided to reinstall windows. Now, with this computer, I just haven't been able to connect to the internet, even if the other laptop works very well. I'm no computer whizz and so enjoy really simple instructions on how I can connect to our BT Hub (internet).

You will need to install your wireless adapter and Ethernet driver.

Visit the Web site of the manufacturer for your laptop.

  • Installed new HARD drive with the new installation of XP, old HDD ShowAs saw as the active partition, how to change this?

I installed a new HARD drive with a new installation of Windows XP Edition family. I want to keep the old HDD and reformat the drive, but I can't because the second HDD is listed as active in the management of the computer. Why? It's not the drive that contains the operating system (Windows XP) that is initialized from.  I put the BIOS such that the new HARD drive is the boot drive. The old HDD has Windows XP on it, but isn't the startup disk. I just don't understand.
If only the new HARD drive is installed, the computer management doesn't show that it or any other of its partitions are the active partition (C drive is listed as the system partition, of course).

How can I get an active partition and no active partition when the new HARD drive is installed on a HARD drive that is not the boot drive, when I have two hard drives installed?

In case it is necessary, the new HARD drive is a SATA and the old HARD drive is IDE with the cavaliers as a slave.

The system partition is the Active partition. The system volume contains the system files needed to start Windows, Windows XP, these system files are:

    NTLDR
    Boot.ini
    NTDETECT.COM
Ntbootdd.sys (present/used only with older SCSI controllers)

Windows files are not necessarily on the system volume, they can reside on another volume, when on a different volume this volume holding Windows files is called the boot volume.

When you install Windows on a computer, playing a mixture of IDE and SATA setup discs tends to favor with IDE drives on SATA drives and tends to use the IDE drive to house the system partition, (even if Windows is installed on a different drive).

Running the command SYSTEM SET at a command prompt may shed some light on the problem...

  • Dependency problem with the new Blackberry Plugin for Eclipse

I just encountered a problem with the new version of the JDE Eclipse Plugin. I set up my application project so that it uses two other projects such as libraries. Both of these projects are on the way to build Java in the settings of the application project, and the manufacturer Eclipse compiles without errors.

But when I try to run on the Simulator, the application loader throws an Exception stating that it could not find one of the classes listed in library projects. Since it is the importation of first class in the main class, I guess that it was unable to find the entire library.

I tried to have the application project to import the project two library, but nothing alx files has changed.

In the old version of the Plugin, there is a property of the project "Blackberry project dependencies" or something like that, which should be set for library and rapc.exe projects and the simulator would be their. That went away, and I was told during Devcon now suffice to add libraries to the classpath. Apparently, this is not so for me.

Can you give me an indication of what goes wrong?

The problem seems to be that I imported my projects since the previous version of Eclipse plug-ins, Blackberry. I have now created a new workspace and new projects, completely maintaining the source files, and it works.

  • z index / layer of problems with the new YouTube widget!

    Hello!

I am facing a problem with the new 'youtube' of social media widget. I currently have two layers in my projects. This is a project for which the menu scrolls initially and then sticks to the top of scrolling parallax. By continuing to scroll, the embedded YouTube video widget does not scroll under the menu as it should but scrolls through the menu. It's strange, as the YouTube widget was placed on level 1 and the menu is at level 2. Shouldn't the menu then always be on top? Only the new widget is not properly defined index-z?

You can check my web project (and look at the code) here: http://www.firstlight.at

    Any help is greatly appreciated!

I managed to solve the problem, and I believe this to certainly be a bug in Muse...

In order to avoid widgets Youtube iframed swim on top of all the other div tags, I had to change the code, add wmode = "transparent" and wmode = "Opaque" to the class of the iframe. This works if you replace all the other parameters behind the CBC "&" by "& amp"tag.

Here's the original code generated by Muse. This could not prevent my "2nd layer" slip below "Layer 1".

Makes the following changes to the code, forced the Youtube widget below all other div again (I pinned all changes to "BOLD", so you can see the changes easily):

Ensure that you do not miss the following change: you need to change all of the vipers '&' to '& amp' this procedure will not work!

After the new version, I'm sure the Adobe team is working hard to bust of bug last version. But I hope that we will be dismantled soon, otherwise users using the youtube widget will have to recode output Muse whenever we make a change and it is exactly what is the Muse striving to prevent (; After all, in Dreamweaver, you can hardcode the change and he would stick!

I hope that it will be useful to someone!

  • Satellite U500-17F: problems with the new HARD drive

Hi everyone, I got some troubleshooting with my Satellite and a new drive, I bought recently, because that is already damaged because of too many bad sectors. One is a Western Digital Scorpio Black 320 Bg (WD3200BEKT model number). It should be a fast reader but is not with my Satellite.

After having mounted the drive in the laptop, I ran a new installation (with full disk format} Windows 7 (64 bit) with all the necessary drivers (that I downloaded directly from the Page of Support Toshiba.)

The problem is that the laptop needs a lot of time to start and also to disable, and whenever I try to run an application or start a program (for example Firefox, or just a few windows applications), the laptop freezes for about 30 to 60 seconds, the drive no longer works (you can hear leaders put in position 'parking' and the HDD LED control is constant) ", no lights flashing).

It seems that the drive (during this 30-60 seconds) in something as a stand-by mode. I ran a few Western Digital diagnostic tools and the car looks all right to 100%. It works also without any problems in the other laptop (HP Pavilion DV6500). Could this be a problem with the controller (Intel ICH9M - E ATA AHCI controller) driver?

    Any suggestion?
    Thanx

    Hello

You use the latest version of the BIOS?
Please check if you need a BIOS update. Of course I read in a few discussions on the similar question of Win XP you use Win 7 but its value to check the update of the BIOS and U500 series.

In addition, I recommend check you the power of Windows 7 options.
Disable in the power profile that you use power saving HDD.

    Just a question:
You use the option AHCI in the BIOS?
As far as I know it of possible to use either a compatible SATA AHCI mode.
AHCI must be used because this option would use full SATA performance.
