Problems with the Qosmio F30-117

Problem started when I noticed that he does that in safe mode now it does not work in any mode.
Run recovery product and tried to re install windows xp with original discs.
Meet up with the system message is run only has not fully been implemented again this message repeats whenever I try.

When I turn on laptop all you get is blue and black vertical lines on the screen with the windows logo in the Center.

I tried to work in all modes, including pushing the F8 and F12 keys always the same nothing.
I plan to put in a new hard drive HDD2D35 but this answers my problem this laptop as it was so good, I don't want to replace it with another.

Any response will be greatly appreciated and advice on if I should just get rid.
Thanks John.

What's your problem now: how to install Windows XP Home edition or these vertical lines?

Any body knows how to get full 60 GB of space on the secondary hard drive.

I sent my laptop to be repaired because the hard drive was faulty. Now I'm back and I tried to re - install recovery disc. Due to the clear instruction how to use the recovery CD, I run the CD two or three times. But when I checked both drives it software installed on it without using the RAID option. I formatted the D: / in car, but it displays 55.8 GB instead, 60 GB and the disk label changed to blue where, like the rest of the labels are black.

Has anyone come across this type of problem please advice me what can I do

AFAIK the Qosmio Player is installed on a partition of hiding.
Maybe that's why some GB are missed.

In the user manual, you will find lots of info on the RAID and installation.
    Check it out.
I also find something that when you use RAID-1 (mirrored), the operating system recognizes the reduced ability to 2 hard drives.

  • Features red and green Qosmio F30-117 - display problems-

    Hello

I have a qosmio F30-117, and until recently, I was thrilled with everything about it.

Then, mid session, graphics started to deteriorate, which fixed a reboot.

Then a few days later, he did it again and this time when I rebooted it came with a display corrupted, a lot of aa in all directions then red and green lines everywhere.

Managed to get by selecting safe mode with network and got a desktop computer but still with red and green lines everywhere.

Now its got worse again, when I start the screen of the laptop itself is empty, becomes something because it is not completely black as if it was when its engine turned off, but his Blanck.

To check I have connected to an external monitor and managed to get again in safe mode with network, but still very bad and always red and green lines everywhere.

I started to take a ride on the old good www and there are many posters and articles with problems and many mentioning the lines red and green etc...
so I'm not alone, but no one seems to know exactly what it is.

Some have mentioned the grateful Toshiba this as a problem and make even if out of warranty repairs.
Thus, ideas, advice and does anyone know if Tosh have agreed the problem and offer any help?

    Thanks in advance

    Hello

In my opinion, this looks like a problem of graphics card GPU eventually started to malfunction, and in this case to replace the motherboard.

    > Some mentioned Toshiba grateful that as a problem and make even if out of warranty repairs.
Thus, ideas, advice and does anyone know if Tosh have agreed the problem and offer any help?

It doesn't have to be dull I ve also found this update from Toshiba product support page, but there is nothing listed on the problems of F30
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/innovation/generic/PRODUCT_UPDATE_SUPPORT

What to say. Seems only a technician ASP might solve your problem, but replacing motherboard is a costly affair so it s your own decision to want to do

    In any case... good luck...

  • Qosmio G20 error message: problem with the cooling system has been detected

I'm trying to fix a Qosmio G20 (which is about 3 years old, it is no longer in warranty).

Error message: Warning: a problem with the cooling system has been detected.

I managed to remove the outer case and observe the operation of the machine, and basically one of the fans does not at all. The fan which is closest to the power connector seems to work very well (he seems to be turning a lot, do not know if this is normal), but the other fan who does not seem to move at all.

When I put in place the case and on the machine, I noticed after a few minutes the vent of the fan working heat sink had warm enough, while led the non-working fan remained cool.

I cleaned the fan from dust and have also changed the BIOS battery mode mode high performance, but the problem still exists.

I would be grateful if someone could give advice if the problem is the fan or something else.

If the fan is the problem, where I can buy a: i live in the United Kingdom?

    Hello

I think there might be something wrong with the cooling module and the replacement would be necessary.
Usually, this should be done by an authorized provider (ASP) in your country.

Technicians could replace it with a new part and also could renew the thermal grease which is placed between the module and the CPU cooling.

So contact the ASP in your country and ask for later handling.

By the way; also, you can buy the cooling of the ASP module!

    Good luck

  • Windows has encountered a problem with the DVD/CD on Qosmio G20

has obtained a g20, problems with the cd player. When I go to copy or move music or pictures on my cd/dvd, I get a pop up saying windows has encountered a problem with this drive...
can someone tell me what is happening.
    Thank you

On this path, it is not easy to say anything. Try to remove the drive from Device Manager, and then restart the device. The unit should be recognized and installed correctly.

If you want to create data CDs using windows options please check disc recording option. Check the properties of the drive and check option under the recording tab.

  • Qosmio F30-117: A single HARD drive is recognized after upgrade to 120 GB

I have a Qosmio F30-117 with 2 x 60 GB Toshiba hard drives installed. I want to switch to 2 x 120 GB HARD drive, but my Slot 1 does not recognize the HARD drive as being present. Slot 2 recognizes that a 120 GB HARD drive is present.

This happens with two 120 GB hard drives installed in the two slots and when inverted as well. I don't use RAID so no mirroring happens.

    Any clues out there?

    Hello
I think that it is will not be problem.
Try putting 2 HARD drive and then install a sistem.
Otherwise, you can not lose a sistem on old first HDD, if you have a problem.

  • Qosmio F30-117 freezes

Hello! I bought a Qosmio F30-117 earlier and it started to freeze. I get to the computer desk-very good, then it completely freezes and I have to remove the power cord and the battery to restart, then it usually loads fine.

Anyone else had this problem or has an opinion on what do I do?

    Thank you
    Nina

    Hello

I noticed that system blocks always when some external device was plugged or if the CPU activity is higher than the limit. I put t know exactly what to do with your unit, but observe the activity of the laptop. You may be able to find out in what cell phone of the moment freezes or after the operation.

I'm sure this has nothing to do with the hardware but just with an operation.

  • Qosmio F30-117: after upgarde to Vista - no sound

I have improved my Qosmio F30-117 to Windows Vista with a clean install.

I downloaded all the drivers from Toshiba for Vista website, including audio drivers.

But I have no sound, everything else works fine. I verify that it is not cut.

Sound driver details are: Sigma Tel High Definition Audio CODEC - version date 040407: 6.10.5462.0

    Its worked before upgrade.

    What did I miss?

This is very interesting case?  :|

I have read about similar issues and I have read about possible solutions.

I could be possible that this may happen because the sound has cut out Windows XP before Windows Vista was installed.

I studied a bit and found this useful and interesting paper Toshiba which describes the problem and provides and solution:

[Audio cut off (no sound) after the installation of Windows Vista: http://209.167.114.38/support/techsupport/tsbs/all/-TSB001438.htm]

    Maybe you should check this!

I would be grateful feedback from your part

  • Can I connect Xbox on the Qosmio F30?

    Hello

I recently purchased a Qosmio F30-117, and I was wondering I was able to connect my xbox and play on the computer? If the answer is Yes, how would I go all this?

    Hello

As far as I know you it s possible to connect the new Xbox 360 for the Qosmio G20. But I put t see any reasons why it shouldn't t works with F30.

The F30 has also comes with MCE 2005.
I recommend you check this Microsoft link.
    http://www.Microsoft.com/windowsxp/mediacenter/Extender/mcefaq.mspx

Also in the manual you will find a description how to connect a 3rd party like the Xbox 360 in the Qosmio laptop.

  • Qosmio F30-117: Impossible to establish FTP connections

I have a Qosmio F30-117, windows XP, Norton Internet security.
When I try to FTP to my site I get FTP connection failed.

I tried it on a friends computer and the connection has been established the first time.
When I joined my laptop to its broadband - no FTp connection. This eliminates at least my router.

I tried to disbale parts of Norton Internet Security, without success.

    Help?

    Hello

so if I were you I would completely disable the Norton software and make sure that the Windows Firewall is to leave you hollow. If not, you should check if your friend has put in place properly. If you want to test that your machine is able to connect via FTP, then go to www.kernel.org and enter an ftp address.

Open your favorite FTP client, and then try to connect. If the connection fails really then double check all the settings and try again. I think that the problem is so low that everybody he oversees everything. ;)

    Welcome them

  • Installation of a second disk in the Qosmio F30

    Hi guys and girls :)

I just bought the secondary hard drive for my Qosmio F30, but when I opened the drive Bay, I found that I have a problem with the installation of the drive on my hands.

First of all, I tried to put the new drive in the Bay and press down lightly to connect with power and data connectors sata and it works perfectly, but it is impossible to move the laptop around since the disc is a bit loose in the Bay and I'm worried a little for my data and the drive itself.

Then, I opened the first Bay and noticed that original Toshiba drive is kept in place with the help of some mount thin metal plate, which is set on the disk and the Bay with a few screws.

I checked the Web for any revision of the F30 model that might have pictures of the Bay secondary in his State and found a few. See the photos of the same thing Im. Check this one out, it clearly shows the high Bay (sata connectors are right and not visible):
    http://www.Ferra.ru/images/179/179520.jpg

Note a small screw hole on the left side of the Bay, clearly intended to fix the mounting plate similar with hdd secondary on the laptop. The plate which is, unfortunately, not included with my computer.

Did someone here had the same problem and if so, how to solve?

    Hello

As you have already said the HARD drive need a special framework that maintains the 2.5 HARD drive in the Bay.
This frame and the screws required, you can order directly from the authorized service provider who is responsible for your country.

I recommend talking to these guys here and explain what you need.

    Best regards

  • I have some problems with my Qosmio G30-126

    Hello

I can feel that Toshiba does not have just customers to be technical but also is harmful to reputation because the Toshiba customers cannot use Toshiba product as do advertising -: performance, stability...

I bought 1.5 year ago Quosmio G30-126, which was earlier model (more expensive) at this time. But this model does not allow me to correct the work. Ways to collapse the system lose the work during treatment, slowing down my productivity.

If I contacted the service, was always somewhere else than the warranty conditions.

    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/innovation/generic/QOSMIO_G30_BIOS_UPDATE/

    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/innovation/generic/PRODUCT_UPDATE_RAID_DRIVER/

For this I am sure about the instability and not much choice of graphics GeForce GO 7600 card. The driver for Vista which has been updated several times of Toshiba (and after a year as buying by NVidia for Vista - until that moment only for XP) seems to be like another flaw of Toshiba.

Also have problems with scratches on the screen. The framework is too soft (high and low) and "technicals" told me I was putting something heavy on top... which I did not, but anywhere: in this case it can scratch it if it is to stay on the table. Second think it is I travel a lot with her... My answer is Yes, it is portable and not PC... It's the first laptop on which have stripes, using laptops for the last 12 years and 17 "for the last 5 years.

Also feel funny that I am a customer subscribed and that waiting will be provided, all news of Toshiba, not only on new products, but also all product updates... nothing happen.

Anyone have a similar experience as it is written above?

    Hana

The year last January or February my friend give me his newest Qosmio G30. I ve used a month. I've install my favorite games and I also used it to scan all my movies of course done.

The laptop has been pre-installed with Vista, but we have also installed Windows XP Home edition on the second partition to check the performance in the two operating systems. WXP works perfectly and after some personal configurations that Vista was also good working operating system. I recorded a hours of movies, he coded and burned about 20 DVDs. So I hope you believe me that this laptop has been uninterrupted on the race. Encoding is not short and portable process runs almost 24 hours a day.

After a month of use I didn't noticed anything negative and I can say that the Qosmio G30 is a fabulous laptop. Unfortunately a bit expensive for me.
I don't know what you're doing with expensive products, but I always buy the extended warranty to avoid a risk of material damage. I don't want to pay for costly repairs. For my new LCD TV I paid about 130 euros for 2 years warranty. Now I don't what will happen over the next 4 years.

Thus, everyone has their own way how to use laptop and to discuss the system collapse, lose the work during treatment, slowing my productivity is not so easy. Who knows what applications, freeware or shareware you stuff use? Who knows what make your system unstable?

I use my Satellite 17 nearly 2 years of work and private things and I always use original preinstalled Vista. Why I don't have this kind of problems?
This with scratches on the screen is too strange for me. I wonder how this can happen. After closing the cover of the display, the screen is protected and there is no chance to make scratches on it.

One last thing: maybe I didn t understand you well, but what is your problem with the driver updated, updated BIOS or corrections? Each laptop manufacturer offers different updates or upgrades to improve performance, better security, or functionality of the software. Toshiba do this too and this process would not present yesterday, but for years.

Sorry mate, a side that I understand your wish to discuss all of these negative issues but just blame laptop manufacturer for every stupid thing is not understandable for me. According to me, you know a lot of people say that PC 80% disorders are not result of bad hardware/software, but because nobody who are sitting in front of it.

What to say at the end? If possible, buy extended warranty to be on the safe side, try to have the right operating system, from time to time do the backup data, make sure that the laptop is placed correctly on the desktop to avoid overheating and I'm sure you'll use your Qosmio for a long time.

    Bye and good luck!
