ProBook 4420 s - BIOS update failure - Windows 8.1

Had a bad HDD then I've upgraded to a new SSD with Windows 8.1 after doing so. I decided to update the BIOS.  I've updated the BIOS through Windows and restart that the laptop would not start.  All I saw was a white wireless LED and LED power.

I have tried the 'Windows key' + 'B' of the BIOS recovery method, but when I do that. I'm white power LED, amber and continuous wireless LED blinking LED white "Caps Lock".

I used the steps here: http://forums.mydigitallife.info/threads/870-Bios-Recovery-Procedures/page79?p=398310&viewfull=1#pos... and the laptop go through the steps, but I am still living with a white screen.

Any help would be appreciated!

ProBook 4420 s

I was able to bring back the dead laptop computer by following the instructions in the link I posted and the version of the BIOS F.20.

After the upgrade laptop computer and running; I've updated the BIOS F.21 using a USB key and it worked without a hitch!

The bios is not dependent on OS. I think that the flash program used to update the bios work correctly under windows 8.1. Before you do the update try to make a backup of your current bios so that you can always come back if you wish. See the image below on how to do the backup and update the bios.

  • Satellite L40 - 12K - BIOS update failure

    Hi people,

It is the second Toshiba laptop, I've managed to screw up. I don't know why, but it seems that Toshiba is especially prone to spectacular failure of BIOS.

This laptop (Satellite L40 - 12K, short model PSL40E) has a bios made by FRIEND and Toshiba has an update on its Web site for windows that uses the tool of WinFlash.exe made by ASUS.

The tool only works for 32-bit operating systems, and I had installed a 64-bit version of Windows, I could not pass the laptop.

Then I thought: we will try to update the bios from MS-DOS, using a bootable flash drive!

I went to the ASUS ftp site and downloaded the latest AFUDOS (2.41). This is a special version of the afudos FRIEND tool, specially designed for ASUS.

I ran the tool under MS-DOS, and it will make sure the BIOS automatically confirmed that the binary file was compatible with the laptop model and automatically starts the process of flashing.

But it crash in the phase of "flash erase". He was stuck there for HOURS, so I turned off the computer and tried to turn it back on.

Not at all, the laptop won't turn. It does not even ANY SOUND. NO LIGHTS, NO NOISE, NO FAN, NOTHING.

    ABSOLUTELY AND COMPLETELY DEAD.

So, there you have it. I have flashed dozens of computers (servers, laptops, workstations, etc.) in my life, and I've only had TWO failures.

TWO of them were with Toshiba laptops. Geez, Toshiba is really the King of the failures of BIOS flashing!

Maybe you could try to Flash the BIOS using this version of BIOS
If this is not possible, then only a service provider authorized Toshiba would be able to help you.

By the way: I've had three different Toshiba notebooks: A210, U400, and now Tecra A11.

If I choose "OS Independent" it tells me ' Bios is NOT compatible for portable computers with Windows Vista! Exclamation points are Toshiba, not me ;)

So I am stuffed and I need to stay with my current BIOS, or can, I use Windows Vista BIOS update?

Thanks to anyone who can help!

    Hello

First question; Why do you update the BIOS?
Do you want to update only to have a newer version?
If your Windows 7 is working well, then a BIOS update is not necessary.

Otherwise, install Vista OS to Toshiba Recovery (if available) disk, the BIOS update and then change to Win 7 ;)

    Hello

I doubt you'd be able to update the BIOS on the Opensolaris OS.

The Toshiba page provides only focused on the victory of the BIOS, which means that you need to install windows to update the BIOS.

The traditional BIOS version allowing you to update the BIOS by using the USB disk is not available for download.

I think that only FSA (authorized service providers) availability to perform a BIOS update using the diskette.

  • Pavilion Media Center M8400f Bios Update for Windows 7

HP Pavilion Media Center m8400f. The Vista operating system has been replaced by Windows 7 (64 bit) a number of years.

I've updated one of my hard drives with a SanDisk SSD (it is now my main drive with the operating system and all my files on board).

The bios on the PC has never been updated.

The SanDisk SSD dashboard software will not recognize the SanDisk SSD as the system has designated the SSD as a SCSI device. I need to access the bios for this change to AHCI. The current bios does not support this.

The PC has a card mother MCP61PM-HM. There is no update for Windows 7 BIOS for that motherboard I know (updates Vista only).

SanDisk gave me a link to http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=pv-82094-1&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&... that shows a card mother M2P61PM-HM for m8400f desktop PC. This Bios download supports Windows 7 (64 bit).

Can update the Bios to download safely a card mother M2P61PM-HM for card mother MCP61PM-HM I currently have?

    Hello

The HP BIOS update link provided SanDisk is an update of the BIOS of your PC. It is listed under Win Vista 64 bit driver downloads here.

If you look at the site to download the drivers for your PC you'll only see driver support for Win Vista but on 2010-04-08, Version 5.29, 1.47 M BIOS updatedshows support for Win 7.

But the problem is this: the BIOS updates must be performed using the PC operating system comes with; in your case, Win Vista. Extreme care must be exercised when updating the BIOS under normal circumstances. I would not classify your situation as usual.

I saw others download an update of the BIOS for their PC and try to install an operating system upgraded with disastrous effects. The PC was bricked.

Be prepared for the worst case if you try to install the update to the BIOS.

  • HP Pavilion A6750Y Bios Update for Windows 7?

Hello, I bought a HP Pavilion A6750Y years that I have been very satisfied.  I have of course updated from Vista to Windows 7, added a video card and I'd really like to upgrade my cpu.  So far, in the Support & drivers for my computer, it lists still my motherboard as being able to run up to a processor AMD Phenom 9950 x 4. I noticed however if I list my OS as Vista 64-bit, then it does in fact appear a BIOS update that would allow the MOBO to exploit some AM3 cpu. It would still work for my computer running Windows 7, or y at - it an update of the BIOS in preparation for Windows 7, otherwise I would really like to make the request. I want to spend my processor to a Phenom 2 x 4 and need my MOBO to support AM3 processors. Thank you in advance.

    Hello:

I wouldn't update the BIOS by using Windows 7. There is more than 95% of probability you will make the PC unusable.

HP will release no updates to the BIOS of windows 7 for your PC.

If you want to update the BIOS, your only alternative is to install Vista, updated the BIOS and then reinstall W7.

  • the X100e BIOS update failure

    Hi all

I installed the latest version of BIOS x100e (v1.34) using the ThinkVantage System update utility on my computer laptop x100e and I can't access Windows after restart. Looks like the hard drive is not readable. Windows does not load and I can't start the Lenovo recovery successfully utility either.

I was on the page to update the BIOS to the x100e but everything is focused on updates via Windows and I don't have access to a DVD - ROM drive with this model, so can not go down from the bootable CD installation.

    Any ideas?

    Thank you

  • Satellite P200D-137 - suspected of BIOS update failure

    Hello

My friend asked me to watch his old Satellite P200D of 2 days. He decides to perform the recommended Toshiba updates, after leaving the machine (plugged) and return after about an hour, he was off.

Now switch on the machine causes a black screen with just the hard drive, fans and dvd burner, turning the power on. This being the case, I feel, it was a BIOS update he did this failed. Is it possible to recover from this at all?

    Thank you

You know with certainty that it was done. If the BIOS update is screwed up, it can be problematic, and I'm afraid there is nothing you can do alone and without service.

I bought an alienware 17 R3 8 GB of the USA 4 months ago. I live in Turkey where there is only one technical service of Dell in total. Yesterday, I did the BIOS update. Everything was ok, I turned to the bottom of the laptop and slept. But today, I realized that my computer is dead. Thank you for this great update. I'm a regular computer user.
