ProBook 4515 s: motherboard

Hello
My Probook notebook, 4515 s went AMD VGA. And I would like to replace the motherboard.
The Mboard number is 585219-001 Rev: 4.21
If found an other motherboards AMD socket so eBay, but the serial number is different (574505-001 Rev 5:30)
Can I use it?
Can I fit? Or just the motherboard exactly the same?

Did you look at the pictures of the House and has compared to yours? It is also another faster way to match. And it's the unofficial HP HP support user forum. Otherwise, you will need to find your repair system and in there it will give the list the motherboard that fits in the yourcase.

  • HP Probook 4515 s does not illuminate

HP Probook 4515 s will normally light after update BIOS to F20. Thing is when I press the power button / stop, cell phone started working, but screen remains blank. HDD led is orange and flashing continuously and CapsLock led flashes 5 times at the beginning which means general motherboard failure. But after some time (5 minutes 4 hours sometimes) it start starting BIOS then windows and continues to work normally all the time until what the computer is put to sleep or shut down. This will never happen before the update to F20 and problem is that now it can not be downgraded by using standard methods. Does anyone know of any possible way to return the BIOS F10, or another solution to the problem?

Your drive "F" could have the folling cases: "."

    \Hewlett-Packard\BIOS

    \Hewlett-Packard\BIOSUpdate

BIOS file has 3 files: current, new, previous

sp55879 will be extracted in C:\swupdate\sp55879

    Copy 68GPI. F:\Hewlett-Packard\BIOS\New TRAY

Copy 68GPI. GIS at F:\Hewlett-Packard\BIOS\New.  It should be located in F:\BIOS\Previous.

    Copy HpBiosUpdate.efi to F:\Hewlett-Packard\BiosUpdate

I copied all the files from C:\SWSetup\sp59994\BiosUpdate

Do not overwrite the log file.

F.20 should be close to 20/12/2011

The dates of these files will tell you what version.

Restart the computer & it should start the update procedure.

If successful, the new folder is empty, The Current folder & previous record are the same, except previous is now tiny.

  • 4710 proBook s - Drivelock + motherboard fried = fun

    Product: ProBook 4710 s

    P/N: NX631EA #BED

    Hello world

My laptop recently died (motherboard failure) and I used to use DriveLock on my hard drive. Given that my warranty has expired, and now I have other laptops HP to use, I removed the hard drive and installed on my desktop computer in order to transfer the data I had on this drive.

Problem is Windows cannot read the disc because it is locked. I contacted HP support via chat, but they did not quite help with my problem - I was recommended to use 3rd party tools. I did sam google-ing and download Hiren boot CD in order to unlock the hard drive (I know that my password of course). Then, I ran into a brick wall - password set on disc had was not the same (I used tool MHDD). After more research I discovered that DriveLock calculates the password by using the password I entered in combination with something else (S/N, or something like that I'm not sure).

Is it possible that I can provide HP support with my password, serial number, proof of ownership in order to receive the password with which I could unlock my HARD drive?

Thank you for your time and effort

    UPDATE #2
HP support in my country (Croatia) have not responded to my request and it is very professional.

I solved my problem by moving my HDD DriveLock-ed to another HP laptop computer that supports DriveLock (this was also 4xxx series). I removed DriveLock of BIOS on this laptop.

    Hello

If you are referring to the test of the hard drive, this indicates your hard drive is defective and must be replaced.  Back up all your data as soon as you can and then replace the hard drive.

  • System partitions and upgrade to Windows 7, Linux

Yesterday, I bought my first CV - ProBook 4515 s model with SLED 11 Linux preinstaled. Given that I'm not familiar with Linux systems first thing I did was to install Windows 7.

My laptop came with 4 partitions that is formatted in a file system that Windows does not recognize. I'm guessing a partition for installing Linux, two of them are system (HP_TOOLS and HP_RECOVERY) partitions and the fourth was just an empty disk. So I formatted the fourth partition and installed Windows 7.

The problem is now that I am out of system partitions, so can not access other software preinstaled and QuickLook. I tried a single partition format and rename it to HP_TOOLS and then tried to install QuickLook v. 3 but the facility reported that my system has not been supported? I don't want to mess with the other partitions in the fear that I could remove the BIOS, but want to sort this mess up and would certainly like to have some of the options that is is installed with the system.

    Any suggestions?

Message edited by Martine on 14/10/2009 14:07

I think that the HP_TOOLS and HP_RECOVERY partitions are formatted as ext2 or ext3 file system, Windows cannot read. It can only read NTFS and FAT32. There is no way I can think to convert the ext2\3 to NTFS without keeping the integrity of the system. In addition, the files are all intended for linux and not Windows. He has makes no sense to do that. That said, I'm not sure if your laptop has Windows 7 drivers now.

I replaced one for a friend who has a toshiba, it has an easy access, compartment, but this 4510 s did not have such a place - unless it is under the large battery coming out.

BTW - where is a good place to buy a big spare battery for it - the one I have is shot.

    @Michael_Piziak

Your computer provides the RTC (cmos) battery.

See Maintenance and Service Guide - Page 35

Item #16 is the RTC battery

Item #23 is the main battery (Page 42)

When you buy the battery has much to do with where you are on the planet.

If you have access to online stores and delivery, you can buy the battery where that reference numbers are available.  Many online auction sites provide cross-references to the reference numbers.  For optimal (and safe) performance, it is recommended to use the HP parts in your HP computer.

  • HP PROBOOK 450 GB: Can I update my motherboard with a graphics card

    Hello

I have a hp probook 450 GB (i3, 8 GB ram, 1 TB), and I wonder if I cand update my motherboard with a graphics card. Is this possible? My motherboard is 1949 Hewlett - Packard (U3E1).

    Thank you!

The 450 G0 has either Intel HD 4000 or it can have switchable discrete Radeon 8750 M, but if you have the old, you will need to replace the whole motherboard to get one with Radeon graphics cards. Which may be prohibitive, but is theoretically possible. Can you replace your self? Parts will run a few hundred to a few hundred working (in dollars). You need the motherboard and a new radiator/cooling fan. Processor, wireless card memory could be reversed. Also your windows must be reactivated and eventually you will have to buy a new Windows license (which does not 100% the case) but Microsoft generally believes that it is a different computer if you swap out the motherboard.

If still interested we can guide you through the details.

I am looking for a cheap solution

Can I replace motherboard with a 683494-001 ogical and use the 3340M?

I'm surprised of this motherboard is cheaper because it is the video version of 2 GB, but otherwise the same Board. No WIndows embedded key Code so you will need to reinstall the operating system and have a valid key Code. But ultimately, yes it will adapt instead the original Board and accept the CPU, wi - fi memory card, etc.

My notebook, ProBook 450 G2 goes into sleep mode when well even parameters of energy set to never. The operating system is Windows 7 Professional.  I had a technician Microsoft verifiez_ the. I also had HP tech check the. They both said that it was a hardware problem. I sent it to HP to fix it and they replaced the motherboard and said that they have tested. When I came back, it entered into mode 'sleep' again. I left my laptop for about 15 minutes and when I came back it was in mode 'sleep'. This always occurs after the laptop remained for about 15 minutes.

    Does anyone have a solution?

I sent my laptop repair HP. They replaced some cables and motherboard, but it does not solve the problem. They finally replaced the Windows 7 operating system. Basically they gave me a new system. I spent 3 days to update windows with all the updates and then re-loading of my programs. What a mess!

    Hello

    Old location:

I recently changed my laptop Elitebook 2540p motherboard. When I installed windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit on my computer the computer lists not all audio devices in the Device Manager page. I checked the bios for all faulty settings and they are all good. Theres no yellow mark in the list of devices is and all the drivers appear to be installed.

    New location:

Installed windows 7 and computer again found / installed normally audio devices. I tested computer for hours to read the audio data from it and everything worked well. I restarted computer several times / re installed the battery on the computer. A reboot the computers audio button mute fast under the screen seems to be orange and the speaker sound in windows icon has been marked as X I have check the list of devices in Device Manager and there is no audio device listed (no sound device at all). Once I restarted computer and before the computer started downloading windows I pressed the mute button and it turned blue. Then I went to windows and audio devices / audio devices has been registered and work / sound working again.

    Old location:

I have motherboard integrated IDT audio device.
