ProBook 6540 b: ProBook 6540 b BIOS locked
I bought broke ProBook 6540 b for parts on eBay. Managed to fix the card mother, added a drive hard, but cannot open the BIOS to set the configuration.
What can I do to unlock it? There is a service of HP that does this?
I found a software on the Internet that does the job and costs about US $ 25, but since I have nothing to hide (for laptop is stolen not :-)) Ii hope there is the simpler and less expensive way to do it.)

I wish I could have tested everything first, but you can always try the shotgun method.

After the reboot, repeat 'SHOTGUN' a second time.

Hello
Unfortunately, business machines such as Probooks or EliteBook have more strict security consumption patterns - they do not produce "stop codes", the password cannot be derived from the serial number and the code is stored in a nonvolatile memory to remove the RTC cell does not reset the password in this case.
If you Contact HP Business support they should be able to send you a file custom SMC.bin that you can use to reset the password at startup.
Kind regards

Z90D7 Bios locked ort
I have a new Thin Client Z90D7 that took its Bios password locked out. We tried the default password: Fireport
This does not work for us. Does anyone know what should be the Bios password?
The unlock key is: C2BAC631
Thanks for any help you may be able to offer...

Wow! No responses LOL!
I actually found the problem. He was not with the password Bios "Fireport" itself, but the Wyse keyboard accompanying the Thin Client Z90D7.
The keyboard has a manufacturing defect which depresses the key 'G' each time you press the button "T". A drop test good with the keyboard, released what was causing the problem, and I'm back in business...

HP ProBook 6440 b: BIOS/CMOS admin password
Installing windows 7 Professional, I discovered that I couldn't get into the BIOS or because it was the password for protected configuration. I tried a number of things, including the installation of HP ProtectTools Security stuff and it seems that everything what has done is to create several connection passwords. I can now in the program installation, but as a user, but not as an administrator, and so I can not change password. There is also another screen that shows where I have to enter a password and I don't know if what is happening due to the HP protect tools that I installed and then removed, or something in the BIOS. I uninstalled HP protect tools and reinstall windows 7 and I see still two password screens. I tried to update the BIOS by using a file downloaded from the HP Web site, but can not because I do not know the admin for access to the BIOS password.
Contact HP and they should be able to send you a file custom SMC.bin that you can use to reset the password at startup.

ProBook 4420 s - BIOS update failure - Windows 8.1
Had a bad HDD then I've upgraded to a new SSD with Windows 8.1 after doing so. I decided to update the BIOS. I've updated the BIOS through Windows and restart that the laptop would not start. All I saw was a white wireless LED and LED power.
I have tried the 'Windows key' + 'B' of the BIOS recovery method, but when I do that. I'm white power LED, amber and continuous wireless LED blinking LED white "Caps Lock".
I used the steps here: http://forums.mydigitallife.info/threads/870-Bios-Recovery-Procedures/page79?p=398310&viewfull=1#pos... and the laptop go through the steps, but I am still living with a white screen.

If the laptop does not give you with a system to screen lock code after you put in the incorrect passwords, you may need to have this resolved by HP or a BIOS company at your own expense.

HP Probook 6555 b: Caps lock and num is flashing 5 times, no start
Hello
My referenced above laptop - HP Probook 6555 b - which worked fine until yesterday stopped all of a sudden start.
When turned on, all lights are on except for the Caps lock and Num that flashes 5 times.
The fan starts to spin for a few seconds, then stops, there are two short attempts to boot the DVD player.
I saw a lot of 'solutions' by Googling, none of them worked.
If you have experienced these problems or if you have the expertise, I would appreciate your hand.
Thank you
