Please tell me the process through withich I can update my inffrastructure with a time stop or errors.

Please tell me the process of update for VC.

I have 2.5U2 and U3 upgrade to U4, both with SQL Express or SQL Server without any particular problems.

Simply select the existing DB (instead of creating a new).

Some time (with SQL Express) the first time post reboot "Virtual Center Server" service does not start, in this case just start manually.

  • Y at - it an update for VMware ESX 4.1 update 1?

    Dear friends;

I heard that VMware releases update for VMware ESX 4.1 update 1. Could you please tell me if this is correct?

And would you please reference me this article?

ESX will not available in vSphere 5.0. It will be always supported in the same way that VI 3.5 is still supported, however. Here's an official blog stating that ESX 4.1 is the latest major version of ESX.

With the release of VMware vSphere 4.1, we announced that 4.1 will be the last version of vSphere to support the ESX and ESXi hypervisor architectures.

  • Update 3 for vmware Infrastructure 3 is a comprehensive update?

Is update 3 for vmware Infrastructure 3, a comprehensive update or should I install the update 1 and day 2 first?

I believe that if you apply the update 3 with the Update Manager and then rescan with your baseline, you will see fewer missing updates.  It should take care of all update 1 and day 2 patches.  If you want to apply update 3 make sure to run all of the patches that have been released since then as well, there are a few recent bugfixes of update 3.

If all goes well with this number of hosts you can eliminate the time instead of reduce, if you have the DRS in fully automatic mode when you use the Manager to update to migrate the guests off the coast to other hosts for you while patch.

  • not getting does not clone/update with VMware Infrastructure client option

Hi we have an esx3.5 with VIM 2.5

to authorize the server through a host file, that we had to create a virtual machine on the esx server and install VIM 2.5 above, pointing licensing to the ip address of this server. This vm is winXP so everything works fine.

When we try to connect to the ip address of the winVista esx server, we get a Manager, without options - clone/updates

Therefore, in order to make any kind of cloning or updates remotely of machines WinVista you must:

create a VPN connection on the site with the esx server,

Connect to the ip address of the esx server,

    Open the VMware Infrastructure client,

    opening of session

Open the console of the computer that has installed VIM 2.5

and perform a cloning from inside the virtual Windows XP machine

as you can see it's pretty heavy. is there another way?

    Thank you!

Because if I understand your message, you don't see the "Clone/Update" option in the menu when you connect thru customer VI ESX Server. Yes, this isn't. ESX does not provide the functionality without VirtualCenter. Then, must use VirtualCenter, address IP/Hostname in the VI Client to accomplished these tasks.

  • Which TCP port is used for VMWare Infrastructure Client?

Hello, my ESXi server sits on the private network, and I'm trying to PAT so that I can access the external network using VMWare Infrastructure Client Server. Does anyone know what port is VMWare Infrastructure Client listen? Thank you.

    Priscilla

Do the external network for VMware NAT

I guess you mean that your server is located in the internal network and Client is on the outside.

If the customer does not have to "listen" for connections it opens TCP ports - HI 1024-65535 to servers as follows.

Servers (including GSX) TCP ports: 8222, 8333, 902

If you have ESX (i) then TCP ports: 80, 443, 902

  • For Vmware Infrastructure details DropDown is EMPTY

I'm a newbie in the converter and I'm doing a P2V using Converter 5.0 running on a Windows 7 computer where I am using VMware Workstation 7.  The source is a physical machine running Ubuntu 11.10.

I spent an initial problem regarding root privileges using sudo in config xml files the agent and the worker.  When I get to the next screen, I expect to be able to use the drop-down list to select VMware Workstation Vmware infrastructure (see screenshot).  The problem is that there are NO options to choose from.  When I click on the drop down arrow, nothing happens.

  • Local host for VMware Infrastructure Client permissions

We normally use vcenter 2.5 and ESX 3.5. Our user permissions are set on vcenter, using Active Directory.

However when vcenter is out of service, we can connect locally to each esx host using the VMware Infrastructure client. Logging as root works very well. However, we have several local nonroot accounts defined on the ESX host.

How can we give users permission to open a session? We want to be administrators on the graphical interface, but does not give the root password.

As root, you will need to identify yourself with the VI Client and assign permissions to non-root users to access environment - but caution that you do not have the granularity of permissions, as you do with VC and if these hosts are managed by CR you do not want to make changes to them directly as this may affest DRS and HA-

  • Cisco UCS update for vmware

    Hi all

I am facing a problem to upgrade my vmware environment. Is it possible to upgrade my current environment to vmware vSphere 5.0 to 5.5 or v6 vSphere? Here's my current Cisco UCS report. Cisco said that no Vmware said yes.  Someone at - he tried or who have this problem?

Current version = UCSM B series

    The UCS = 2.1 release (2)

    Server model = B230-M2

Adapter = CAN-M91kR UCS Virtual Interface Card

If you need confirm the hardware and software compatibility, here is your best friend:

    http://www.Cisco.com/Web/TechDoc/UCS/interoperability/matrix/matrix.html

With version UCSM you use and the material, you have the latest version supported is ESXi 5.1 U1, but if you upgrade to 2.1.3 you will see Esxi 5.1 U2 - 3, 5.5, 5.5 ESXi U1 - 2 and 6 Esxi ESXi.

I bet you meant to type M81KR, so keep this in mind for a proper functioning:

    1.5.0.45 = card driver (FNIC), 2.1.2.38 (ENIC)
    Adapter Firmware = 2.1 (3)

  • updated for vmWare Fustion 6 but cannot create Bootcamp

I improved the 5-6 Fusion Fusion and tried to update my Bootcamp VM and it kept giving me an error that I needed to remove the virtual machine.

    The message is

Your Boot Camp installation has been changed you last accessed it.

Place the machine virtual Boot Camp in the trash, then select "Execute Boot Camp" to recreate. This will not affect Windows applications or on your Boot Camp partition.

    Power DiskEarly module has failed.

Unable to start the virtual machine.

I tried to move to the trash, and that doesn't seem to help. I he returned but still kept getting the message above. Then I deleted the virtual machine from Fusion. Seems to have removed completely not only move it to the trash. That is not a problem if I could create the virtual machine, but when I try to create the Boot Camp virtual machine I get the following message, under Choose a Boot Camp Volume:

    BOOTCAMP

If the disk is used by another virtual machine, it must be switched off first.

Select the volume and the option (create a Boot Camp virtual machine) I can't select CONTINUE. The CONTINUE button is grayed out.

I tried searching on the web but couldn't find a solution.

Fortunately, I can still use bootcamp, but I got so used to using Mac and Windows I already lack.

I hope someone throw some light how do I fix this problem.

Do you have any utility installed 3rd party to provide write access to the NTFS file system on the partition Boot Camp since OS X?  If yes turn it off temporarily, remove the Boot Camp partition option remount (or restart OS X), then try again.

Tuxera NTFS is an example of a 3rd party utility installed to provide write access for the filesystem NTFS in OS X.

  • Is there any update for VMware Tools for Workstation 8.0.3?

I've never installed a new version of VMware Workstation without the need to upgrade VMware tools in each of my virtual machines.  After the upgrade to Workstation 8.0.3 there was no prompt to update VMware Tools and he says that it is up-to-date.  Was there no new version of VMware Tools with this upgrade, or am I missing something simple just?

    Thank you

    ~ J

What I see on VMware Server, VMware Tools 8.8.2 are used in both VMware Workstation 8.0.2 and 8.0.3.  So, looks like two issues CVE VMware Workstation 8.0.3 addresses has been fixed in the base files not tools packages.

  • using the converter no option for "Type of Destination." I am allowed only 'VMware Infrastructure virtual machine'

Hi, I am looking to convert my localhost Ubuntu 9.10 for a machine virtual (vmdk) using vCenter Converter Standalone Client 4.0.1.

I am at the step #2 (specify the Destination) and I expect to converter to allow me to choose a path to store the hard files.  However, 'Destination Type' does not have any selection - only 'VMWare Infrastructure virtual machine' is available.  (also there is input to the server, username, and password fields)

    What I am doing wrong?

    Thank you

    Hello

using vmware converter 4.01 when virtual do physical power machines Linux the only available destination is ESX (i) server.

One possible way to solve this handicap can be what makes an image of the Linux system using one of support for the products of the image and then use the vmware converter to set up the image of Linux box as a source and destination that it doesn't have to be a server ESX (i)

If it comes to an eventual conversion, you can use a trial license with the product of the image (e.g. acronis true image or norton ghost).

    Best wishes / Saludos.

Cannot join the VMware Update service. Please try again later.

It lasts for quite awhile, and I also have this same problem.

According to me, what he's smoking the v3.5 version being abandoned. Manual patching is always possible.

I suggest you to download the necessary patches and 'Add' in the update client. Worked for me that I've manually updated the VMware ESXi 3.5 with ESXe350-201006401-O-SG - PATCH (published 24/06/2010) just currently.

(Don't forget to restart the ESXi after because I did once when I've manually updated my ESXi server...)
