  • Works with Windows XP SP2 with IE8. A Norton 360 process ccSvcHst.exe CPU consumption. Upgraded to version 4.0.__Now IE8 Norton is very unstable, different processes consuming CPU even with turned off Norton. __

I opened a folder support with Norton a couple of days, for a problem with ccSvcHst.exe cripling process my system by consuming my CPU.  I found that it was a common problem, and so I wanted Norton to solve.  Their guy accesed my remote system support and made a few changes to my configuration utility and my registry files and then upgraded my version of their latest version 4.0

After the end of the support session, I finally restarted my system and encountered an error on my configuration utility being in a State of diagnosis, then that I should put it in a normal mode and restart again.  I noticed that it had disabled the start of my services.  I selected a normal startup and restarted.

The problem with ccSvcHst.exe consuming my CPU is now resolved - be replaced by different processes consuming my CPU and use of extremely heavy memory (or misuse).  Faulty processes are mostly explorer.exe and iexplore.exe.  Not only that, but this current problem exists even when I turn off Norton.  I tried you connecting another deal with them, but they will not address the issue, since the problem (now) exist even without Norton running.  So, basically, they made the problem worse and then pushed him on Microsoft to resolve the issue.  It's really nice...

    Anyone have any ideas?

It seems that your computer is infected. I get this from the fact that iexplore.exe (Internet Explorer) is running. If you haven't started IE yourself, then it is a clear symptom of malware infection.

After the start of the guest, I get only the Message: "your CPU does not support long Mode. Use a 32-bit Distribution"

You may need to test if:

    (a) you run a review of 'good' (in terms of supported 64-bit comments) CPU (for example, several AMD chips have been officially ranked 'not kosher' VMware because of the inadequate support of segmentation) - see http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=1901 for more details.

    (b) AMD - V / Pacifica (VT if it is an Intel CPU) is not disabled in the BIOS of the computer.

  • My Windows XP SP3 system has a svchost.exe process that has started to use a good bit of CPU - 18 to 30% at idling.

I've referenced KB 314056 to make a list of "tasks". There are 30 services running on this process.   FWIW, my wife's PC has the same services that runs under a svchost.exe process without a lot of CPU usage. How can I get figure out what service (s) is/is the use of the resource of CP?

I found the culprit. I run Secunia PSI. The site is at www.secunia.com. When I stop this program the SVChost process falls to zero use. I run the same program on two other PC XP3 Windows without problem.

I'll follow up with Secunia. Thanks to all who tried to help.

  • Svchost.exe - k netsvcs process uses 50% CPU at startup of Windows 7 PC

    Hello

Can someone advise? I have a 32 bit Windows 7 laptop and when it is on, svchost.exe - k netsvcs will run and make use of 50% or more of the CPU and finally up to several hours.

It is a very annoying problem where even if I complete the process using the Task Manager, it reappears shortly after. A reboot also sees a resumption of the process.

I traced this problem to the (wuauserv) Windows Update I had to turn off to avoid the recurring problem. But as this is not an optimal solution, I'd quite like to know how to solve this problem permanently.

  • Running process crushing the CPU

    Hey guys,.

I installed Sierra on my Macbook Pro 13 "2015 today and had a problem where the process of"photoanalysisd"ran all the time.  I used between 120-150% of the CPU.  When I force quit, he came right away.  After a few hours, I went back to el Capitan.  If there are others out there who have had the same experience and a possible solution would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you.

I think the "photoanalysisd" process of facial recognition / scene on your photo library.  I've seen this as well as a few other processes using higher than normal amounts of CPU.  A few hours later, everything is back to normal once all the new features have done their thing.  Depending on how many files, the speed of your system (CPU and storage read/write), and all what you use, this background process will end eventually.  It took a few hours for me to see that I had the minimal use of the processor idling.  I hope this helps.

  • Process creates the CPU to overheat and the Fans to run like crazy:

I am ripping DVDs on different Macbook cradle fully aware that it's requiring treatment.

The 2011 with 16 GB of ram and hard disk SSD, the process runs on 330% of the processor, blasting the ability and heat

    revolves around 100 c/213 F.

Interesting enough the same process on 2 late Mo Pro 2008 with less ram do not overheat in the extraction process. The program are identical on all the Pros of 3 MB. The processes are the same, but on the old MBpros the processor load is between 130-150% up to more heating is not that great a problem.

But the MBPro of 2011 with top material tearing overheating of the processor and fans running at full speed.

I noticed that too much work with other programs or is running only a few programs at the same time seem to heat from the processor and the fans make some noise + cpu run hot with my MBpro 2011 and El Capitan.

It is possible to restrict a program that use a large part of the resources to avoid overheating?

    Other solutions?

Well a Late 2008 Macbook Pro has a intel core 2 duo, so the max he could run is 200% (2 CPUs time 100%) if the application can do enough on 2 processors in parallel.

Your 2011 Macbook Pro has very probably a 4 core CPU intel i7 with hyper-threading.  If an application can use hyper-fils, there is a potential of 800% max.  The 330% could just be that the DVD cannot keep up with the CPU, so it does not hit its maximum potential because of the famine of data.

I don't know if the speed of the DVD drive in 2008 was the same as the 2011.  If the 2011 is able to read data more quickly than the 2008, then it can provide given the CPU faster, keep the much busier CPU so it can consume more power, and more power consumption more than the heat generated.

MacBook pro 2011 ends a DVD in less time than the 2008?

Basically, you are trying to compare 'Granny Smith' vs 'Golden Delicious' apples and expects the same taste.

Regarding the other programs, put this SSD in your Macbook Pro means that any code or data that the application needs to get the disc are convinced order or magnitude faster, so that the application did not slow the CPU and keep crank, causing the CPU to keep them busy and thus attract more power, which is converted into heat causing fans to run.

It is also possible that your SSD generates more heat.  Solid State does not always mean longer running costs.  Much would depend on the brand and the model of the SSD and it is the power profile, and it draws more power for writing vs readings, and how much nature more expensive power you're done.

Information point.  I put an SSD in my 2009 27 "iMac and it works more hot because my iMac can do more in less time.  I put an SSD in my Macbook Pro 2011 and if I ask him to do a lot of work, like backups, it starts its fans, as the SSD is always quick to provide data for backup, there is no waiting for the discs, leaving the lower idle CPU.

  • VTEncoderXPCService the process using 100% CPU, slowing down of the MacBook Pro to a crawl

I'm running OS X 10.11.4 on my mid-2009, 2.26 GHz Core 2 Duo 13 - inch MacBook Pro, updated updated to 8 GB of RAM. For these last days, a process called 'VTEncoderXPCService' has been constantly running like crazy on my Mac, using about 150% CPU. This slows down my Mac to a crawl, especially Safari, where I usually end up with beach balls every 20 to 40 seconds. I need help [figure out what is the cause, as my Mac is basically unusable because of the drop in performance.

This is a background process that converts the video in a photo or iMovie library. If an iOS device is connected, please disconnect. In the iCloud system preferences pane, uncheck that marked Photos. The activity should stop.

  • opendirectoryd process has high CPU

The opendirectoryd process is very high CPU. I have tried the method that Apple Support Doc says. But this isn't the solution.

I also try to close port 22. No effect.

I don't know why this problem occurs. The only solution is to restart the computer.

    I use MacBook Pro early 2011, OS X 10.11.3

  • Windows Error Reporting service stopped recording of events in the event log, and now when it spawns werfault.exe, the process consumes the CPU until he is killed.

Windows error reporting service ceased to record events in the event viewer. The last successful entry was 26/03/2010. Since then whenever the service generates Werfault.exe to handle the error, the process seems stuck in a loop of consumer processor, but do nothing. It uses 99% of CPU (80% preferred), is not e/s and number of handles, thread, & working set do not develop.

Three Windows updates were installed in shortly after the last successful log entry (automatic update is enabled):

KB915597 def 1.79.702.0 & def 1.79.495.0 both for Windows Defender

    KB980182 for IE 7

I think that my system is clean, at least Spyware Doctor think it is. I also did some tests Ad-Aware. Windows Defender analyzes every day without error.

Has anyone else encountered this problem?

    Hi Wannknow,

It's good information - and thanks for the thanks! You really only need to run an adware or virus (malware) program at the same time. What I would recommend is that you choose an adware program - either "Windows Defender" or "spyware doctor" and disable the other. This can be your root problem, so at this point I turn back on 'report of problems and solutions' and see if you experience the same problem:

    Again, here are the instructions:

    1. open Control Panel. (Press Ctrl-ESC and type 'control' is faster access method).

    2. click on "System and Maintenance" and then click "problem reports and solution."

    3. click on change settings in the left panel of the problem reports and Solutions window.

    4. Select Advanced settings.  In the "for my programs, problem report is: ' select 'off '. Click on CLOSE the

  • Random processes using 50% CPU (dll files)

Random process (svchost.exe, taskhost.exe, taskmgr.exe procexp.exe - Process explorer, chrome.exe, skype.exe and so forth) always use 50% CPU, but only one of them will do both. If I stop the process that takes too much CPU usage, after 5 seconds, another process starts using 50% CPU again. I used Process Explorer to check the problem, and I found that the process still using 50% CPU has api-ms-win - returned-* dll running (from 4 to 9 of the dll). No other process has them. After that I started to close the processes one by one and always monitor the dll, and it seems that after I stop a CPU consuming processes, after a few seconds another process loads the api-ms-win - returned - all * dll and start again using too much CPU. I don't know if the CPU usage is relevant to these DLLs, so I came here to help.
I tried to reinstall windows, use 2 anti virus to find something and neither things solved the problem.

At it remove it (or quarantine it)?  If she keeps reappearing you are still infected and may have to start a new thread in the virus & malware to help with its removal

  • Svchost.exe several process taking high CPU usage

    * Original title: svchost.exe bleeding memory of multiple processes

I am running Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit Service Pack 1 on decent office equipment.  Intel i7 - 2600 k, 16 GB of memory Corsair, 2 TB HD.  Recently, I noticed that sometimes the Web pages would much to slow while my 5.0 GHz network turned to 15.0 Mbs.  Also online MechWarrior gave me games much more than before lag to the point where I wouldn't be able to play.  This began about five to seven days from 29/09/14 and was regularly do worse.

So I took a look at my resource monitor and the Task Manager and discovered fifteen process svchost.exe running and a svchost.exe * 32 running.  They were dispersed users (System, Local Service, Network Service), and we were shooting at 150 000 + K.  Sometimes there would be two consuming the same amount of memory, but I have yet to see more on the list do so.

I'm certainly not an expert, but I take care of my computer.  My network is password protected, I ran a complete virus scan of the system that was detected (and if it is dangerous, I'm not at all more risky than Facebook sites on my PC.  I am saying that it is highly unlikely that I have no virus.)  I also checked the forums for others who have had the same problem and there were few.

The only change I made is my network hardware, upgrade my modem and router/switch.  My router is a dual band and my computer is the only one on the frequency 5.0 but check on my computers to families that run on the 2.4, they have what seems like unusually high memory usage svchost.exe as well.  I went back two restore points, but that made no difference.

Syschk control function run as administrator has not resolved the issue as well.  So what else am I missing?

In order to diagnose your problem, we need run Windows performance toolkit, the instructions that are in this wiki
