Procurve switches update: should I shut down VMs on cluster that uses this switch?

I've update the firmware on our Procurve switch soon. It need to restart this switch. Should I close all the virtual machines on the cluster that this switch is used to communicate to our SAN via iSCSI?

I don't know that I made the question properly, then do not hesitate to ask for more information or clarification.

You want to disable HA on the cluster to blow course because if you don't switch redundancy to your ESX hosts you will have a failover of working capital.  It would be advisable to stop or pause the VM as ise this switch for iSCSI storage access, however I did some tests on this and if no vm run they freeze literally just in time and as soon as the storage returns they pick up where they left off.  I have to admit that I am impressed by the way the VM manages connectivity lose to their storage.  That said you should technically their power off or suspend them.

  • How often should I shut down my PC?

    Hello

I hope you don't mind me asking this question. I could not help but to know, using PC (laptop) is part of daily life, it is sometimes more than 10 hours to continue to run my laptop. So much pressure on it. In general, I'm used to shut down my PC each night before going to sleep and start the next day morning. We know all that I have other options are available also as keep my PC in standby or hibernate instead of shutdown. Now my question is what is the best way to practice in order to keep my PC in good health? I should everyday practical shout down and start over or I can keep it dormant until a few days etc. Which is good for practice? My PC is HP 430.

    Thank you

    Hello

Check with the HP Support and their documentation online.

There are a lot of opinions, but I prefer the way that you do now. Start and stop

the computer frequently causes the device to heat and cool a lot which is more stress

on the material while leaving work. If you go for 2 + hours power on the monitor
off anyway so you should have white for any period of inactivity. Stop when
It will be on all night is also a good initiative.

Thanks for posting. You can check the updates installed from the Add/Remove Programs window in Control Panel. There will be a box at the top where you can check to view installed updates. There are also third-party programs available that will do the same.

  • Satellite X 200-unexpected shut downs as soon as I use the SLI

I've always bought Toshiba as well for me and the company,
I bought a Satellite X 200 and as soon as I use the SLi makes the unexpected closure of the bottom computer...

And the most important thing is that I paid a lot of money for it.
    My old laptop performance :(
Feels like products are sometimes not tested until they sell.

Anyone over with the same point of view on the Satellite X 200?

My friend has a X 200 and has no problem with SLI.

Have you tried other games? This game has maybe a compatibility issue with SLI.

You use the graphics drivers supplied by Toshiba? If you use drivers from a non-Toshiba source, it can cause problems of this kind.

Also update the BIOS and maybe try a new image (run recovery) if all else fails.

If it fails on a new image, then a video card may be defective.

  • COMPUTER SHUTS DOWN UNEXPECTEDLY, BUT STAYS ON USING AN EXTERNAL FAN BLOWING INTO IT

I have HP Pavilion P6130Y desktop for a couple of years now where later it turns off after about 10 minutes of being on.  Once it turns off, it will remain only for a few seconds. The internal fans work properly.  I opened the side panel, cleaning of the computer and the dust in the fans and put a regular House external fan blowing into it.  With this fan blowing into it, the computer stays on and works perfectly.  Any know if this is related to a heating problem or is there perhaps any other question that the computer might have? If so, should what parts I replace?

    Hello

Check with HP support, their documentation online and ask in their forums known issues.

As it works with the fan added either something is too sensitive to normal even heat, or the
computer generates just on the edge of the system, or both.

    Certainly a hardware problem.

  • my computer shuts down when I'm on why this happens?

When I go to any web site or play games it rnadomly stop then I HAV wait 10 to 15 seconds to turn my turn... After this intruder entered into my computer, it has started to do... I have to take it in a computer store have they fix it? or is it possible to try other things on my own?

Make sure that your Windows Firewall is enabled.  If you are not behind a router, you can get one to take advantage of the hardware firewall as well.  You can get them for as little as $15 these days.

    -

Get your updated antivirus program and start safe mode.  Note that some viruses can hide from your normal antivirus program, so you really need to scan mode without failure.  To enter in Safe Mode when you turn on first, press F8 on every seconds until you get the menu, and then select Safe Mode.  Then run a complete system scan.

If that suits him fine. If this is not the case, use system restore to go back to an earlier date at the beginning of the problem.  To run system restore, click Start-> programs-> Accessories-> System Tools-> system restore.  Click on the box that says show more restore points.
    -
You can check the corrupted system files.  Open an administrator command prompt and run SFC if the above does not help. Click START, and then type CMD in the search box, right-click on CMD. EXE, then click on run as administrator. Then from the command prompt, type sfc/scannow.
    -
Finally if all else fails, you can look at the rather cryptic system event log.  To make, click Start-> Control Panel-> administration-> event viewer tools.  Once in Event Viewer system log-click and scroll entries looking for these "error" with indicator see if you can find guidance on where the problem may be.

  • VAPP Shut Down Action - does not?

    Hi all

I have a VAPP container configured with two virtual machines in separate groups. I have on each configured virtual computer (tab Start command) start and stop actions. For stop, I have everyone on 'Stop the guest PC' for he gracefully shut down the virtual machine. However, it seems that the VM is simply turned off and the "Guest Shutdown" option is simply ignored. I tried all the other options (Suspend, None etc) but when I stopped the VAPP - power of the virtual machine down.

    Start Up works perfectly however.

What throws me a bit, is that when I right click the TIME to select "Shut Down" - she tells me that I have to stop my guests FIRST, before I stop vApp. Why is this? I thought it was supposed to manage the order of start and stop based on the order of the Group and delays etc.?

I should add that all this runs in a LABORATORY of 4.0 Vsphere (No. Vsphere updated applied yet)

Any help with this is appreciated.

    Hello

You must use the 'Power Off' instead of 'Shutdown' option in the vApp.  The 'Power Off' option stops the virtual machine according to your settings.

    Best wishes / Saludos

  • Satellite Z830-10J battery discharge when the system is shut down

My new Toshiba Satellite Z830 10J ultrabook with Win7 64 bit. all updates, works fine and shows no anomaly, there is however a strange exception.

When the battery is completely charded and I 'pull the plug', the system runs on the battery for sometimes more than 5 hours, so I guess that the cycle of the battery is ok.

When the battery is now fully charged again and I SHUT down the system and not using it for a few days.
Then the battery is completely DISCHARGED to 0%, and the system does not start, until I plug.

This phenomenon occurs in less than a week. So: loading of the batrery 100%, turn the system off, pull the plug, want to re - use the system after 7 days, yields 0% battery charge.

Is there a specific reason for this?

    Greetings

    Roland Schweiger

    > It appears that one of the BIOS settings (disabling the sleep_and_charge or disable WOL) solved the problem
