PROD vs MINK of database

Hi all

EBS R12.2.4

RHEL6.5

The number of objects in PROD vs database equal VISION?

For example the number of objects in PROD.apps.objects = VISION.apps.objects?

Thank you very much

JC

OK, so one thing to consider may be put back a backup then right? Since the master (and not really production I understand)?

Another option to consider would be to run a comparison on objects of applications between the captain and your test environment later. If the patch level is the same, they must be pretty equal, perhaps only a custom view more view (s), or packages.

I suppose it's very probably a table, that she just dropped? So you can focus on this first...

    Name two different databases, the same is a very stupid thing to do. I correct that if I could. However, assuming that 'rmandb' and 'test8' are the names of two different servers, your tnsnames would look like this

    prod_rmandb =
           (DESCRIPTION =
             (ADDRESS_LIST =
               (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = rmandb)(PORT = 1521))
                 )
             (CONNECT_DATA =
               (SERVICE_NAME = prod)
             )
           )

    prod_tes8 =
           (DESCRIPTION =
             (ADDRESS_LIST =
               (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = test8)(PORT = 1521))
                 )
             (CONNECT_DATA =
               (SERVICE_NAME = prod)
             )
           )

    And your connection string would be

    rman target sys/sys@prod_test8 rcvcat rman/rman@prod_rmandb

    If test for prod

    create public database link to_prod connect to the user identified by password using 'to_prod ';

    Check that to_prod is directed to your production database.

  • SSH port forward in upcoming white

    I am trying to set up a connection to database via a hopserver using SSH port forwarding, as described in the article by Jeff SSH Tunnel with #SQLDev 4.1 EA1 and ai2 side by side .  I have screenshots, but don't want to publish sensitive information in the forum - where the descriptive text instead.

    I have 4.1.0.18 SQL Developer build HAND - 18.37 (ai2), identical to his article.

    My laptop with SQL Developer (internal corporate network)

    My-jmpbox-01 (linux hopserver that I can ssh to)

    prod-db-01 (Server database DB on port 1521 of housing)

    From my laptop, I can't not directly to the prod-db-01.  First of all, I must first SSH to my-jmpbox-01.

    Therefore, in the developer SQL 4.1 ai2, here's what I'm trying to do:

    Display-> SSH

    click right-> new host SSH SSH hosts

    Host = my-jumpbox-01

    Port: 22

    Click OK

    Back to the host SSH window

    my_unix_user@my-JumpBox-01 right click-> TEST

    Enter your regular LDAP password

    Click OK

    Back to the host SSH pane:

    Click right my_unix_user@my-jumpbox-01 -> New Remote Port Forward

    Name prod-db-01

    Host: prod-db-01

    Port: 1521

    automatically assign the remote port

    Ok

    should now look like this:

    prod-db-01. right click-> CONNECT

    password

    and OK

    now move your mouse over the line of prod-db-01 and I see a DISTANT PORT (which probably indicates that he got a course valid tunnel).

    Back in the connections (top left) pane

    Click + icon (new connection)

    Display "new database connection:

    login name: prod-db-01

    user name: scott

    password: *.

    connection type: SSH

    Under the Port Forward Dropdown, I don't see the my_unix_user@my-jumpbox-01 or the prod-db-01-connection. It is completely empty.  The troubleshooting steps I can take? has anyone else seen this problem before?

    > Click right my_unix_user@my-jumpbox-01-> new remote Port Forward

    You want a LOCAL port forward

    Take a remote port, for example, your database server network traffic and forward on the SSH tunnel to another destination, say to your client computer.

    An attacker Local port would take your jdbc via SSH traffic to a another machine before a database connection was attempted.

  • PS - Pt 8.54 - post-installation Data Mover

    Hello

    I have installed PT8.54, created the database for the application, ran 6 required sql scripts.

    now, I logged in Data Mover in bootstrap mode.

    When I start the installation of database, options below appears.

    system:

    PeopleSoft HCM demo database

    The PeopleTools system database

    Demo:

    PeopleSoft HCM demo database

    I installed for the first time on my laptop. I wonder what I have to select the two system databases in Data Mover?

    If I select only demo, I think that I will not configure peopletools system database; Please specify.

    Thank you

    RK

    A demonstration of the system database is a Peoplesoft database without any dummy data, but all the operation generally for purposes of TST, QA and PROD.

    A database system is a database of Peopletools without Peoplesoft module, generally used to performance monitor.

    A demonstration database is a database of Peoplesoft with dummy data for study and demo.

    Choose the one that is more appropriate to the use you want, very probably a demo.

    Finally and above all, whatever you choose, it will install Peopletools, you don't have to install them separately.

    Nicolas.

  • Is it possible to create different starts to exadata?

    We have a need to have a few more starts other than + DATA and + RECO.

    How do we proceed? Exadata version is x 3.

    Thank you

    user569151-

    As 1188454 said it's possible. First of all, I would like to ask why do you need to create groups of additional disks data, the reco, and dbfs disk group is created by default. I see Exadata users often question the default disk groups and add or modify the disk groups to follow what they did previously on no RAC environments/Exadata ASM. However, usually the groups of data disks and reco are sufficient and allow the best flexibility and performance. One of the reasons to create multiple groups of disks could be wanting to have redundancy options different two different for a group of data disks - to have a prod on high redundancy database and a database of test on normal redundancy for example; but it is not much needs to change.

    Adding groups of disks, you will also need to rearrange and add new disks of grid. You must keep the prefix grid drive and disc corresponding equivalent group names. Do not forget that all the Exadata storage is allocated to the existing network disks and disk groups - and it is necessary to keep the configuration of the necessary balance and optimize performance. So add and resize the disks of the grid and disk groups are not a trivial task if you have already running on the Exadata DB environments and especially if you have enough of free space in the data and the recommendation to drop the grid of all disks in a failgroup - because it requires the removal of data before you proceed to add and resize network disks. I also met problems with the grid disks that end up forcing you to move the data on resizing disks - even if you think you have enough space for a fall aloo any group fail.

    Be sure to correctly estimate the size of the groups drive - factoring in redundancy, lack of groups and book space to handle the failure of the cell - thus the anticipated growth of the data on disk groups. Because if you run out of space in a disk group, you need to go through the process of resizing of all disks in the grid and groups of disks as a result - or buy an additional extension of Exadata or Exadata storage grids. This is one of the reasons why it is often better to stick with just the data and existing Reco.

    To add new records grid and disk groups and resize other becomes very familiar with the information and follow the steps the section "Resizing storage Griddisks" Ch. 7 user's guide the Exadata Machine as well as the information and examples in the MOS score: ' resizing disks grid Exadata: examples (Doc ID 1467056.1). I also like to refer to MOS often remark "How to add Exadata Storage servers using disks 3 TB for an existing database Machine (Doc ID 1476336.1)" what grid addition of disc or resize operations. The use case may not match, but several steps in this note are useful as discusses adding new disks to grid and treats even to create a new group of disks for occasions when you have discs of cells of different sizes.

    Be sure also to that you stick to Exadata recommended for storage as described in "Oracle Exadata Best Practices (Doc ID 757552.1). For example, the total number of griddisks by server storage for a prefix name given (for example: DATA) must match on all storage servers where the given prefix name exist. Also, for best performance you should have each grid prefix disc and corresponding disk group, spread evenly over each cell storage. You will also need to maintain the integrity of the group fail, separation of groups fail by the bin to the loss of cells without losing data.

    Hope that helps. Good luck!

    If there are chages in the patch code-levels in PROD (RAC) and TEST database, then any cloning of appltop may not work as suggested by 'tvCa-Oracle.

  • Ask the operation slow with large SGA and fast with little CMS

    Hello

    We have a situation where one of the insert is running slow and fast QA in PROD. Both are the same versions of database - Oracle 10.2.0.4 on HP Unix 11.31. To avoid the cause of databases running on another server, we copied from our Production database to the same server where the QA database is running and began with init.ora PROD that has 7 GB 6 GB SGA_TARGET and SGA_MAX_SIZE. For the QA database, SGA_MAX_SIZE is 700 MB and SGA_TARGET is 600 MB. Both are running on the same server, and with the same data. We have refreshed QA with data from PROD. If we start with PROD init.ora QA database, QA also behaves the same way PROD.

    This problem is only with the specific insert. Here is the result of this specific statement tkprof. Can someone please interpret this for me? I am poor in SQL tuning :-( Why the statement behaves ODD with the size of the SGA PROD? Generally, we would think THAT larger SGA should give better performance.

    Thank you and best regards,

    Option 1:

    You run with two different ORACLE_HOMEs - that is potentially two different copies of the Oracle executable to the patch different sets?

    Option 2:

    A change of size of SGA is unlikely to directly affect the execution plan, but it also has change the size of the PGA TOUR at the same time? A change in the pga_aggregate_target could affect the choice of the mechanism of the join optimizer. (But not to change an in a join; but hash semi-join to nested loop is possible).

    Possibility 3:

    The db_file_multiblock_read_count leaves then the size that oracle defines by default depends on the db_cache_size divided by process; so, if you have reduced the sga_target_size you (implicitly or explicitly, no doubt) reduced the db_cache_size, and if you don't reduce the process in the same way, then the default db_file_multiblock_read_count been reduced. What you did on your system stats, this could change the cost of (for example) full tablescans, which could lead to a change in execution plan.

    It would be useful to see the results of a call to explain the plan / dbms_xplan.display in both cases so that we can see the variation in estimates of Oracle.

  • Newbee Goldengate Questions

    Hello

    I just watch about GoldenGate to evaluate to see if it will do what we want.  I have read a lot of information but have not fallen on the answers to some basic questions rolling in my head.  Any help would be appreciated. These are real newbie questions so I apologize if seem really Basic...

    The prod environment is Oracle CARS 10.2.4 on windows 64.  The new prod environment is Oracle 11.2.0.3 RAC on windows 64.  The test environment used to learn GoldenGate is Oracle 10.2.0.4 (no cars) on windows 64 as a source. It has a copy of the database of operational prod.  The target database is Oracle 11.2.0.3 (no cars) on windows 64.  The target is newly installed with a data base of departure yet created with nothing in it.  The goal is to use GoldenGate as 10.2.0.4 to 11.2.0.3 upgrade path.

    Question 1 - What Versions of GoldenGate?

    Of course, we will use windows 64 bit, GoldenGate 11.2.1.0.1, I guess GoldenGate 11.2.1.0.1 - for Oracle 10 g must be installed on the source, and GoldenGate 11.2.1.0.1 - for Oracle 11 g must be installed on the target?  It is this correct?  This seems obvious, but I don't like to assume anything.

    Question 2 - capacity replication and extract.

    The goal is to replicate the database to 10.2.0.4 on 11.2.0.3 and have an extraction process (probably go) is going to keep the 11.2.0.3 new database, synchronized with the 10.2.0.4.

    Is this possible?

    In the test environment, the 11.2.0.3 database is a new database has just grown.  There is not even the 10.2.0.4 patterns or storage spaces.  To replicate, how many the 10.2.0.4 database must be put in place?  I think the storage spaces must be created, and the users who own the schemas must be created, to match what is in the 10.2.0.4 source?

    Question 3 - a good book?

    Question 4 - a good counselor?

    Thanks again for any advise you can offer!

    Question 1: You're right, well if you have a MOS account, get the latest versions of OGG for your db/OS specific out there, on the site of the Patch.  There is a 11.2.1.0.12 for Oracle 11 g on windows x 64 and 11.2.1.0.4 for Oracle 10 g on Windows x 64.

    Question 2: OGG is not a tool for database replication, but DATA replication software.  You must create the target on the 11.2.0.3 objects db yourself, either with EXP/IMP, RMAN restore, etc.  There are suggestions to make a first loading here: http://www.ateam-oracle.com/?s=goldengate+initial+load and using OGG in conjunction with the initial load, you can capture changes to the data (and DDL for Oracle for Oracle, but stick with the basics of DML for now) here on the.  The link above has a guide to migrate too.

    Question 3: I happened to have contributed to this, so I'm a little biased, but I don't know there are many others out there: Oracle GoldenGate 11g Handbook: Robert Freeman: 9780071790888: Amazon.com: books

    Question 4: Forums like this one and Oracle Learning Library (research on goldengate): Oracle Learning Library (OLL)

    I discovered a problem using TSPITR to recover a deleted Tablespace when XML DB (XDB) is installed on a different tablespace "SYSAUX.

    While running RMAN TSPITR use Data Pump export/import Tablespace Metadata as Data Pump dependence more views XDB and related objects and XDB is installed on a set of tablespace are not on the dummy database EXPDP fails.

    Triggered errors ORA-39123, ORA-00376, ORA-01110.

    I did not find any limitation on location XDB on documentation or MoS.

    This looks like a Bug of Oracle.

    See this:

    If I drop tablespace SOE and XDB on target from the base and try to restore the two (SOE, XDB) export will be successful but in the RMAN Metadata IMPORT will faill due dependence XDB.

    In my opinion, they (average Oracle) need find a way to include XDB Tablespace on database-MODEL only for export purposes (EXPDP) metadata.

    If someone coming to a workaround for this error will be grateful.

    PS: This is not a Production environment and will soon open a SR on the Support of Oracle.

    Hi Michael,
    I have not found solution to use TSPITR to recover the tablespace has fallen if XML DB is installed in a default tablespace (i.e. outside SYSAUX).

    As much, I could understand, the only way to perform this RESTORE uses old fashion. By creating the database clone excluding all needless tablespace, export and import of metadata of tablespace you want manually.

    Given that Oracle has not solved the problem that I have created my own workaround solution.

    @All

    If someone is able to use TSPITR to restore interrupted tablespace when XDB is installed in a default tablespace, please let me know!

    The procedure below is supported on all versions of Oracle from 10.1 up to 11.2.

    I do not RECOMMEND to create AUXILIARY (clone) database by using the same TARGET server because you may damage the TARGET database.

    On this example, I use same server.

    See this example:

    ### ON TARGET DATABASE
    SQL> select count(1) SEG_COUNT from dba_segments where tablespace_name='SOE';

  • Restore the backup with a new name and a different location on the same server

    Hi all

    I did a complete backup of my current PROD. Is it possible to restore the database on the same server, but with a different instance name, db_name and on another location?

    PRM says:
    Hi all

    I did a complete backup of my current PROD. Is it possible to restore the database on the same server, but with a different instance name, db_name and on another location?

    If you use RMAN my awnser is not.

    You cannot change the name of the database before open resetlog.

    But you can make this work without problem using the same server.

    You will need to change some parameters.

    Create a PFILE from SPFILE (prod) change parameter 'db_unique_name' file new name (ex TEST).

    Change all the value of PROD TEST except db_name parameter must be PROD.

    CREATE a SPFILE from this PFILE (spfileTEST.ora)
    Create a new password file (orapwTEST)

    So you can start this new Instance_name (TEST).

    Restore the PROD to TEST instance database, you will need use set new name to the file data or database (depends on which version you use)

    Retrieve the instance PROD database (TEST)

    It is time to open resetlogs...
    !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ATTENTION HERE!

    You need change redo log location before open resetlogs, you must query v$ logfile member column and change it to another location.

    After change you can open resetlog.

    Now its time to change name of database.

    Stop and start Mount

    Use the NEST

    NEST target=sys/password@instance DBNAME = TEST

    When this process is complete, NEST will be closing database.

    So you will need to start with nmount change db_name to the TEST and reset the parameter 'db_unique_name' (alter system reset db_unique_name)

    Then stop and start upstairs question OPEN DATABASE RESETLOGS and is done.

    Levi Pereira

    ear of all,

    I cloned the production environment and cloned successfully, but the listener was not rising
    and when I checked listener.ora that she always felt env production entries

    In the light of the foregoing, the prod is my production database name and the new name of database test has not added here.
    I manually changed in listener.ora and started the listener..., when I run the automatic configuration service and changed
    This return to prod

    Any idea?

    Please note I ran preclone in prod before copying to test...

    I manually changed in listener.ora and started the listener..., when I run the automatic configuration service and changed
    This return to prod

    Any idea?

    Change the database context file under $ORACLE_HOME/appsutil directory and correct the name of the listener, then run AutoConfig (look for the context for "auditor" local_listener, remote_listener file).

    Thank you
