Program icon everything looks same in the taskbar

Original title: how to fix

Why all the programs in the taskbar look alike

Hello

·        What operating system is installed on your computer?

·        You did changes to the computer before the show?

·        Is it limited to the notification area icon, or is it in general?

Method 1: I would say you rebuild the icon cache and check to see if it helps:

To follow cache icon rebuild the below steps.

a. Open Folder Options to select (round) display the hidden files and folders.

b. open a Windows Explorer window.

c. go to C:\Users\(User Name) \AppData\Local

d. right-click on IconCache.db and click on delete.

e. click Yes to confirm the deletion.

NOTE: this deletes the file to the trash. It is safe to empty the trash when you are done.

f. close the window.

g emptying the trash.

h. restart the computer.

i. When you come back, you will notice the size of the file IconCache.db is reduced, and the update is now the current date. (See screenshot below)

NOTE: If for some reason any IconCache.db isn't there or the size has not changed much, then just restart the computer again. You may need to restart a few times in some cases.

j. the icon cache has been rebuilt.

Method 2: Create a new user account and check if the problem persists:

  • Key icons no longer appear on the taskbar

Key icons, as power Source / battery capacity, the volume and amount of data read for a dowload of Outlook e-mail suddenly stopped appearing in my taskbar.

Sign says they are set to display, and I tried turning them OFF (they do not appear) and turn it back on, and they do not always appear.

At the same time stupid icons, like the phone symbol for Internet Dial Up (which I NEVER use) began to appear in their place.

Most worrying is the remaining capacity of the battery, that I use often my laptop to a power source.

I use a fully updated Windows XP Pro on a Fujitsu Amilo Pro laptop.

    Hi Alain Jaubert-T,.

    1. Did you the latest changes on the computer?
    2. You have security software installed on the computer?

    Method 1

Read the articles and check them off below if it helps.

    (b) open the icon power options .

    (c) click the Advanced tab.

    (d) check the option always show the icon in the taskbar .

    (e) click OK and close all open windows.

    Method 2

If the previous step fails, then I suggest that update you the chipset on the computer drivers by contacting support for portable computers and check if it helps.

  • How to remove the device when the icon is not present in the taskbar

When I attach material to my laptop the software always removal icon in the bar spots.  When I already have the material to be fixed at a fresh start it is not displayed.  Should I go somewhere in the Panel to uncheck and check always show?  Where can I find the menu for this view?  How can I delete a material without the icon, or how always to get the icon appears?

Here is an article I found via Google:

    (1) with a USB stick inserted, right-click on the drive in 'My computer' and select 'Properties' then 'material '.
    2) click on your equipment in the list and select 'Properties' again.
(Alternatively you can double-click the disk in Control Panel > system properties > Device Manager > hard drives)
    3) click on 'policies '. Normally, the "Optimize for quick removal" button will be active - but do not change it. Instead click on the link "Remove the device safely" to "optimize for performance".
    (4) new, select your hardware and click on "Stop". Click on 'OK '. This will stop your material and it can now be removed. This is a work around the missing icon, but you do not make more than once - the icon 'Remove hardware safely' should now appear normally in the Notification area whenever ANY removable device is reinserted - hopefully for good.
    (5) ensure that the icon is not hidden in "Customize the Notifications" as described above. This worked for a USB (USB key) under XP flash drive but could work for other removable devices as well. (for example use this procedure with a USB key to fix the missing icon for removable CD / DVD drive on your laptop)
    (6) take a look at any software download that installed applications of connectivity as part of the package for example iTunes, Ovi Player. Uninstall (Add/Remove Programs), and then reinstall (extract from the web site) and re - simply enter your account details. Clear any corruption with these can bring back the USB support.
    (7) another possible reason for losing the icon is the TCP/IP stack is corrupted and needs to reset. Search Microsoft for their utility to achieve this. He is quite on the web (very painless).

It seems that your user profile is damaged, so these steps may or may not help. You scanned for viruses or other malicious software recently? Did you program updates could cause this behavior?

Have you tried a system restore to a point before you started having this problem? Or if it came from a good time?

I can pin an icon in my task bar, but whenever I turned off, the icon has disappeared from the task bar and I need to re - PIN. Any suggestions?

    Hello

Thanks for posting your query in the Microsoft Community Forums.

I understand from the description of the issue, that the icons are missing from the taskbar on Windows 7 computer.

I understand this must be frustrating, but don't worry, we're here to help and guide you in the right direction.

When you update or upgrade programs, pinned icons that are associated with these programs can lose their associations link if there are problems with the update or upgrade process. Windows 7 runs a maintenance task and check the system for broken shortcuts. If more than four broken shortcuts are found, Windows automatically removes those broken shortcuts

I'm using LabVIEW 8.6 to generate an executable file. I use 16 x 16, 4 bit color icon. The shortcut is on the desktop, but it does not appear in the project view, it does not appear to the left of the name of the application in the taskbar or in the upper left corner of the front panel.

Previous posts have mentioned using 16 x 16 bit icons, but I already do. Is there something else I could do wrong?

It is included in your project file? You have selected using the icon when you build the .exe? Check the icon in the project, it is best if it is made for all 3 color resolutions.
