    Had to type 192.168.1.1 in my browser to open configuration linksys and found that my name ISP of the user and the password wasn't in the internet settings. However, when I first set up the router under Vista, I never had to do.

  • Field joined WinXP machine on the network can not surf the internet

    I have several laptops at work who joined our corporate domain.  We use a proxy server to access the internet.  These systems have no trouble to get on the net at work through the proxy server.  However, when used on a wireless public or home networks that they cannot surf the internet.  All systems will be the IP addresses, the gateway and DNS settings on those external networks, can see other devices on these networks, can ping IP on Internet addresses, but will not shoot to the top of all Web sites.  They can pull up of sites by IP address, sometimes but not always.  The proxy settings are off and IE is set to automatically detect settings.  One of these machines has been wiped and reloaded the last week and it still has this problem.  I've deleted all the browser history and temporary files in IE so deleted the DNS using ipconfig/flushdns with no luck.  I installed Firefox on one of these machines, but he'll not all sites either.  If these machines are removed from the field and added to a working group, they seem to work well.  All users connect with local accounts on these machines and all tests were conducted with administrator accounts.  All the suggestions and help would be greatly appreciated.

  • I can connect to the local network, but not to the internet

    Why in an internet connection, I can connect to the Local network, but not to the Internet.
    I have valid IP address and configuration is good.

    I recommend you read some threads here in the forum about similar issues.
    If this problem occurs using the WiFi network, then check if you can use the connection to the local network.
    Using the WiFi network, you must check if the common WLan parameters are favourable;
    Check if the encryption key is right; turn off filtering by mac address, check the TCP/IP protocol settings if it has been set to automatic, disable the firewall settings, rest you WLan router, check if you connected to the right SSID.

  • HP Pavilion 2 x 10-N000NA: HP Pavilion x 2 10-N000NA connects to the network, but not to the internet

    Hello

    I have a problem with my HP Pavilion 2 x 10-N000NA Windows 10, 32-bit version...

    I have a router TP-Link W9980 and the laptop connects to the 2.4 GHz network, but there is no internet access.

    However, if I use a range extender (powerline TP-Link Wireless extender), it connects to the network and the internet!

    So, I guess that the equipment is working well, there must be a setting somewhere?

    I've updated all the drivers, etc. for the laptop and the router.

    Any ideas?  Thank you.

    Hello

    Well, the strangest thing happened!

    There was a huge update of Windows, and it seems to have solved the problem.

    Connections now say '(network) secure' or '(network) open' - which they did not before.

    So now that I know that the network was very good and it was a laptop problem which needed fixing.

    However, I do not know what exactly the update fixed, so I can not pass on any knowledge to solve the problem of someone else who suffer.

  • WAP54G on a BEFSR81 - network a lot, but no internet...

    In order to save a few bob upgrading my network to wireless, I decided to buy a WAP to my wired LAN that works very well via a wired Linksys BEFSR81v3.0 8 port router. The alternative would have been to buy a 8-port wireless router which is not only relatively expensive but means basically I couldn't disable the wireless feature as and when I wanted to (no doubt someone will tell me there is a parameter that would disable the wireless feature but not so easily that disconnect the * beep * thing...) In any case, after watching and taking account of the fact that I was already using Linksys, I opted for a WAP54G unit.

    Setup was fairly easy, and after a bit of tinkering, I had network access superb but not internet whereupon be it wireless, including the laptop or the wii.

    I tried to use guided help which proved to be as well used as a chocolate fire since on my ROUTER support is no longer available because it was out of warranty despite the fact I'd just bought another linksys product (such as WAP). To complicate matters as I felt the need to phone NHS24 for blood pressure, they summarily directed me to a FAQ for WAP! I hear about not paying attention. The problem is clearly with the router since the WAP can already access the network (perhaps I'm wrong and I need to look at cloning MAC or maybe find some sort of Relay IP - I don't know what I'm asking). One or more tuther prevents devices wireless through and into the big bad world.

    That's why I'm looking for someone who pay raises constructive questions with the ultimate desire to reach a satisfactory conclusion not punt on drivel precrits to customers in the alleged assumption that have all been delayed and cannot read a bloody manual and attention.

    Can anyone help?

    Steve.

    Okay, I just need to clarify some things.

    When any device within your local network setting (anything on the side non-internet (WAN)) should have parameters that reflect your LAN only. Your router is any translation between your local network and the real world (Internet). The only exception to this is DNS. Some people find it is better to use external public DNS servers, particularly when it comes to games.

    In short, this is a generic installer that you can adapt to your situation.

    Router:

    LAN IP=192.168.1.1/255.255.255.0

    WAP54G:

    IP=192.168.1.245/255.255.255.0

    Default gateway = 192.168.1.1

    Customer:

    192.168.1.?/255.255.255.0 (? = anything that it is not used by the router or AP) remember that all devices require their own unique IP address.

    DNS = 192.168.1.1

    Gateway = 192.168.1.1

    I did not mention security, but all devices must share the same security settings.

    If the WAP54G is configured as a Repeater/bridge must be on the same channel as the device that it is repeat/bridge

  • Unidentified network, cannot connect to the internet + 169 ip address

    Hello!

    I also have this annoying problem. I've seen a lot of posts similar and tried all the proposed solutions, but nothing worked.

    I have a

    ZTE zxv10 w300 camera and 2 computers (a laptop and a normal pc)

    There is no internet access on the computer that is not connected to the router with the cable. It can connect to this unidentified network, but not to the internet.

    This is the case with both computers.

    In addition, the computer that is first connected to the router with cable, will have this 169 ip address.

    I could solve this problem by disabling the wireless adapter, turn off the router, and then turn on the router and activation of the adapter, but then it changed back again. On one of the computers, or both.

    Any ideas what could be the problem?

    Your wireless card is not connected to anything.  The lines in bold show that the wireless adapter has an IP address that is generated by 'Addressing IP private auto' (APIPA).  This is what happens when the adapter is configured to obtain an IP automatically from a DHCP server (for example, your router) but isn't able to get one, either because the DHCP server on the router does not work (not in your case), or because it is not a valid connection between the adapter and the router.

    On wireless connections, it is almost always the result of a misconfigured encryption password, but it can also occur if the router is configured with a MAC filter (or any other security measure) in order to prevent the connection, or if a firewall on the computer is not properly configured.

    From the network and sharing Center, click on the link 'Manage wireless networks' to get this screen:

    You can do several different ways.

    1 remove all wireless networks configured except a you know relate to networks other than your own, you will need to keep (for example, a wireless network at work).  Now connect to your network without wire in the usual way and carefully enter the encryption password.

    2. change the wireless network appears in the list to have the correct encryption password.

    3 remove all wireless networks configured except a you know relate to networks other than your own, you will need to keep (for example, a wireless network at work).  Connect to your router with an Ethernet cable and connect to the router configuration utility.  Disable all configured for the router security measures: encryption, MAC filtering, time of day restrictions, etc.  Now connect to the network without wire in the usual way.  If it works, you can reconfigure the security measures using a router configuration utility (even if there is really no need to use anything other than the WPA2 encryption and a password).

    If you are unable to connect to the router wirelessly when you have disabled all the security on the router, check third-party security software installed on your computer to see if it blocks the wireless connection.

    Thank you.

    Sincerely,

    Evan

    Yes.

    Routers and switches are different types of network devices.  Routers are "smart".  Switches direct network traffic between computers on a single network, while routers can act as the interface between two networks (for example, the Internet and your Local network). There are many explanatory pages on the Internet about it. Here'sa .

    Actually, most "routers" sold for home use today incorporate both a switch and a router (and in the case of "wireless routers" also incorporate a wireless access point). Routers include usually a (NAT ) network address translator, also a DHCP Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (), a proxy of domain name Service (DNS) server, and a hardware firewall to protect the local network from malicious intrusion on the Internet.

    Your provider of Internet service through your cable modem, "sees" the WAN port of the router, as a computer (which is) generally configured to automatically obtain its IP address.  The ISP's DHCP server assigns this port the only IP address that is allowed to you.  It is an 'external' or 'public' IP address, and this is the address that other computers elsewhere on the Internet use when they drive traffic to you.

    The router's built-in DHCP server assigns 'private' IP addresses for each of the computers connected to TI (no matter if they are connected by wire or wireless).  As a general rule, these are of the form 192.168.1.x or 192.168.0.x, where x goes from 1 to 254.  These IP addresses are not 'seen' by computers on the Internet.  Instead, the feature NAT on the router directs traffic to your public IP address to the correct of your internal computers (and vice versa).

    A switch can't do it all.  If your authorized service provider, you can connect to your switch directly to your modem and the ISP's DHCP server assign an IP address publicseparate to each computer connected to the switch.  Because your ISP does not allow more than one public IP address from your account, its DHCP server assigns such address to the first computer he sees connected to the switch.  If several computers are then connected to the switch, the ISP's DHCP server simply ignores them: too bad, computer #2, you do not get an address, and so you can't connect to the Internet.
